1 comments about Megatech Party Helium Blimp.
- My almost-13-year old really wanted this blimp for Christmas. Unfortunately, when he opened it Christmas morning, one of the propellers and its small engine were broken off in the box. Emailing with Megatech was a little frustrating until I realized that a different tech person reads your replies. If you have a problem, copy all emails each time you respond. They did finally agree to a return. I paid for shipping back. They returned a new blimp at no cost, but it took a month. When my son started assembling the new blimp, one of the "stalks" to which the side propellers and their engines are attached broke off. I saw it happen, and it literally broke in his hand. He was being careful, and doing nothing unsual. We could have both cried, but super glue resolved the problem so that he was finally able to use the blimp. Now that it's up and running, we're all impressed. It's huge (much larger appearing than the illustration) and maneuvers very well. The lights and music choices make it really smile-worthy. I'd give it 5 stars, if not for the problems with it breaking. We have high ceilings, which is good, because the blimp would be very vulnerable outside. It's very light weight (out of necessity, I imagine) and probably not for younger children as it would never stand up to any rough treatment. It's not as sleek as the ilustration, either, with fold wrinkles across the balloon portion, although maybe it could be blown up very tightly for something closer to that effect. Don't forget you'll need to buy helium, and a tank runs around $20.

- This submarine is so cool! You charge it up then just plug in the top piece and it goes underwater like a real submarine. I used it in our pool outside. It goes down up to 6 feet underwater! I could see it fine even though it is small because of the lights. Then my friend went in teh pool with goggles on to watch it while I controlled it. It was so much fun!
It lasts a long time too. it takes a while to charge it up again though but not too bad. It is compeltely sealed too so no water can even get inside of it. It really works so good. I want to try it in my friend's fish tank.
- Nothing about this item impressed us. It was given as a gift and we were horrified to learn not only did it not work - from the start - but it looked as if was already used. We would recommend spending more time researching your purchase, paying special attention to the size of the product.
- I have to agree with the last reviewer. The sub arrived with decals rather messy and the item looked slightly used. It worked to some extent for ONE use. Then it was useless. THIS PRODUCT WAS TREATED WITH KIT GLOVES. We followed all directions.
- My 3 year old son picked this up at the checkout counter on a recent outing to the pet store. He had been such a good boy that day, that I thought a little toy was in order. I didn't really look at the box until I got home, and couldn't believe what I saw when I got the sub out of the box and read the instructions.
For starters, the submarine itself needs to be charged from the included charger by connecting a cord from the sub to the charger. The charger is battery operated. In other words, YOU HAVE TO USE BATTERIES TO CHARGE BATTERIES. This toy must have been designed by a battery manufacturer.
Since we already had rechargable AA batteries, I shook off my initial disgust and loaded 4 AA batteries into the charging unit, and another two in the Remote Control unit. After about an hour the sub was charged and I flipped the RC on/off switch to on to check things out. The props immediately started turning. That's when I got a nasty little nick from one of the unprotected propellers!
My son was all over me to let him use the sub in the tub, so against my better judgement, I handed over the RC. It didn't take my son more 30 seconds to drop the RC into the tub. After plopping son in front of the television, then retrieving and drying off the RC, I experimented a little with the sub myself. It doesn't really maneuver well - neither in the tub nor in an aquarium. Additionally, in the aquarium the props are a hazard to fish and plants. If one could maneuver it, it would still need more room than was available in my 30 gal tank.
My son returned asking to play with the sub. I showed him how to turn the lights on the sub on and off (remove, rotate and replace the conning tower). When the sub is "on", one blue and two red LED's light up. These are quite bright and my son was quite content simply using the sub as a flashlight. He's had so much fun flipping the sub lights on and off and exploring the dark corners of the house with it, that I decided not to toss it.
He did very quickly manage to break the propellers that were on the sub. Fortunately, an extra pair of props and an extra conning tower are included with this toy.
My opinion is: This toy is a waste of money, is poorly designed and does't work as advertised.
- My 6-year old son put this on his Santa list and received it for Christmas. Of course, he has to share with his 7-year-old brother. I personally wasn't too impressed with its agility, but the boys seem to be able to get it to do everything they want it to do. On the top of the sub, there is a small plastic piece that fits over the charging connection to protect it under water, and it also serves as an on/off switch. A spare comes in the package; however, I was not looking to use the spare on the first day out of the box. So, when my 7-year-old dropped the piece in the deep end of the pool on Christmas afternoon (we live in Florida), my 6-year-old was suddenly brave enough to dive to the bottom of the deep end to get it so he could run his sub again. The water was still a little chilly, although it was a mild day, so with goggles on and towel ready, he took a few deep breaths and went for it. As for safety, you have to watch the propellers, since they are quite sharp. But my boys have been very carefully about holding it away from the props and not turning it on when the other is holding the sub, etc.. They love playing "Titanic Exploration" by taking it to the bottom of the pool and circling toy ships they have sunk. For responsible children who won't throw it around, touch the props, or lose the little plastic cover (like we almost did), I would recommend it VERY highly.

- This item is way cool. Flys all over my house. balloon stays up for over two weeks!
Nice.
- This is the most fun toy ever. We went to Party City and got the Blimp filled up and brought it home. Then the gondola goes on it. I coudln't wait to turn it on!
The best part is the lights! You can switch the lights to different settings from the remote control. It was so cool because me and my friends flew it around my house at night and scared our parents LOL It was funny. I didn't try the other blimp yet. It comes with 2 blimps that you can change back and forth. It's really easy to control except for if there is a fan on cause that make wind and it's hard to control.
I love this blimp!
- I gave this blimp to my nephew. He loved it! Great gift for kids!
- It comes with no instructions. The blimp was destroyed instantly when we tried to reposition the gondola - it is taped directly to the ballon and does not come off easily. (velcro would have been a better idea for the makers). Pulling the gondola, even very gently, caused a giant tear in the blimp. We then attached it to the UFO. It goes back and forth but not enough power for down - so the UFO is sitting 15 feet up on our ceiling. It scrapes along the ceiling back and forth but it won't come down. Maybe we filled it too full but, with no instructions, who knew. Real dissapointing - save your money
- I got this for Christmas, and it is too fun! It is very easy to fly, and I like to fly it right up to my 2 year old daughter, who likes to hug it. My older kids also love to fly it around the house.
I got it filled at a florist. It is pretty big so it is hard to handle when full of helium, so I brought a bedsheet with me to the florist--I wrapped the sheet around the filled blimp and carried it by the four corners of the sheet, which also helped weigh it down until I got it home. If you let it go before attaching the gondola, it goes up FAST! We have really high ceilings, so (after learning my lesson) I tied a piece of fishing line (cut from a line included in the set) to the gondola, and now if it's stuck on the ceiling I can just reach up to grab the string. For extra weight, to achieve neutral buoyancy, you put pennies in slots in the gondola.
The 9-V battery for the RC controller was dead, but I had some new 9-V batteries. The battery that goes in the gondola is a strange size and non-rechargeable, but has lasted for a few days so far. I'm sure I can find a new one at Radio Shack or something when the time comes.

- my cat tiger is having a good time with this. runs for about 3 mins before you have to put on the hamburger again, but only takes a few mins to charge. works better if you use right away.
Michael
- While my cats love this toy, it only runs for a minute or two before you have to put it back on the charger. Additionally, it is very erratic and I don't mean in a good way. Sometimes it will work, then it will be unresponsive, and then it will start running again.
It would be really great it if worked correctly.
- This is a FANTASTIC toy for the kitties, however, it only runs one time and then won't recharge.
- This product is fun to use and works well. The red LED eyes light brightly whenever the motors are engaged, which is a nice touch. A couple of problems exist: Firstly, the toy does not come with any instructions whatsoever. The cord for recharging the mouse is in a hidden compartment of the cheeseburger controller, and it took me a few minutes to find it. When you plug the mouse into the controller for charging, a green LED on the controller lights, presumably to indicate the charging state. After a couple of minutes, the LED goes out, presumably to indicated that the charging has been completed. From this "full-charge" state, the device will operate continuosly for only a few minutes. I found this to be the case whether I charged it for 2 minutes or 2 hours. On the positive side, my cat loves it- especially the spinning tail feature, which is pretty ingenious. Fun, yes. Worth 30 bucks? That's a matter of opinion.
- This item worked only for a few times.
When it did work it only worked for about a minute before it needed to recharge.
The shipping and returning for refund costs will not be reimbursed.
Caveat emptor!!

5 comments about Firefly Radio Controlled Airplane: Orange (27 MHz).
- I really hesitated before buying this product. My son is a pretty intense eight year old and I had visions of us breaking it the first time out. That actually happened, but I followed the instructions and taped the wing and it is like new. The durability of this craft is unbelievable. I completely turned over the controls to my eight year old the second day out and, after several rough and tumble crashes, which the craft endured wonderfully, he was doing it all by himself. We were at a track/football field at the time and the walkers had a blast just watching him do it. This is a great father/son bonder. You will not be disappointed. If you are having trouble with a couch potato, Nintendo junkie, get one of these planes and you will get him or her hooked on a great outdoor activity.
- This plane is not worth nearly $80, maybe $20. After many easters of styrofoam planes I don't know why I thought this one would be any different.
My son got this as a Christmas present. It took about an hour to completely set up, and charge and deplete the battery 3 times as suggested. Anyway the plane took off and rose to about 10-12 feet and about 15 yards away then nose-dived out of control directly into the dirt. It was about 30 degrees. The wing broke in half and one of the horizontal stabilizers broke off. All of 5 seconds.
The concept is great, but the styrofoam is very thin and crisp. Easily breaks. Do not recommend.
- I cannot comment on the performance of this plane. It broke immediately out of the box. It is way too fragile for most younger (and probably older) pilots. My eleven-year-old and eight-year-old sons were a couple of disappointed chaps that Christmas afternoon.
- This flimsy plane lasted for two very short "flights" (7 seconds) before the crash damage rendered it useless. I bought a Firefly for my daughter's birthday. It was the "big" present, out of all her presents - the one she was looking forward to the most. Out of the box I noticed that it was kinda flimsy - very thin styrofoam wings. When discharging the battery as instructed by the manual, by holding it in hand while powering the props, I noticed that about halfway through the charge, in "climb" mode for both engines, one engine seemed to have less power (I noticed it more by sound rather than revolution or pull).
The next day we tried it out. I told my 8 year old daughter I'd fly it for the first few flights until she could watch and learn the controls and their effects enough to control it. Our first flight lasted 5 seconds, until the plane turned and took a nose dive from about 3 feet off the ground. When I picked it up, I noticed a slight nick in the wing behind one engine and surmised that the wind must have flex forward enough for the prop to take a bite out of it. The second flight lasted two seconds - enough time for the plane to turn and dive, again from about three feet off the ground. The second crash broke the tail. That was it. I paid $50 for 7 seconds of "enjoyment". I know Megatech has a replacement guarantee, but what fool would pay this company another $40 for another 7 seconds of "enjoyment". Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
- This airplane is a piece of junk. Worked for 40 seconds and failed.
I still have not gotten my refund.
It should be rated with - stars.

- In My Opinion:
Well, it sounded like fun, but it quickly turned into a nightmare, as follows:
1. Short Battery Flying time - and, the longer it takes to get it up to the required 50', the shorter your total flying time.
2. From the first time you fly it, every part starts deteriorating, because of the foam construction.
3. You have no control of flaps, thus no control of lift. You are at the mercy of bending the foam flaps to correct the flight, and they don't keep their position because they are made of foam.
4. On the one I bought for my Grandson, the propeller FELL OUT of the fuselage while it was flying. This sent the plane tumbling and crashing. I called the Factory and they told me to send it back, AT MY EXPENSE, and they would repair it and send it back to me, IF I INCLUDED $7.95 FOR RETURN SHIPPING. We never found the propeller.
5. This is a difficult plane to fly because of the lack of control of lift, and because of the short battery life. Once the battery runs down, it takes 10 minutes for a charge, and then you do it all over again.
6. You will need a LOT of room. I tried to fly it in a two acre yard with a few trees, and it was tough. Also, any kind of headwind or crosswind will eat into the flying time and make the plane unmanageable.
7. Oh yes, and it IS held together with double-sided sticky tape, and they ask you to apply scotch tape for reinforcement.
8. Normally, RTF means "Ready to Fly", but in this case it means, "Ready to Frustrate".
Pass it by and take the advice above of spending big bucks for a higher quality fan/turbo jet, where you have radio control of ALL of the flying functions. If you are new to this hobby, start out with a conventional front propeller aircraft.
- In my opinion, I've been flying radio-controlled craft since 1957, when my control had electron tubes and batteries as big as a telephone.
This plane is made of an easily broken styrofoam product. You simply cannot fly it without sustaining some damage. The only control you have is engine speed and left-right rudder. You have no flap control for lift, so you control this by bending the styrofoam flaps. As you might expect, they don't hold their position, and the plane repeats the problem.
It's a lot of gadgetry for the money, but it can't fly in any headwind over a couple of miles per hour, and I mean 2-3 mph. Any crosswind at all wreaks havoc. The flying time on a calm day may approach 2 minutes, and any wind will cut into the total flying time. Also, this depends on high quickly you get it up to about 50' and start flying. Any struggling cuts into the flying time, also. The wings are held on by one small screw on each side, so the remainder of the holding power for the wing and other parts is double-sided sticky tape. After a few flights, everything from the canopy to the wings starts loosening up and going down hill.
You can get it off the ground and fly it, but the frustration level is very high. By the time it's properly lauched and straightened into a flying path, the battery is dead. Then it's: charge the battery for 10 minutes, re-insert the battery, bend the flaps again, lauch and hope for the low headwind and no crosswinds, and, finally, total frustration will set in.
Save your money and, if you need a Jet or Turbo-jet, just spend the money. If you're a beginner or have never flown a turbo/fan jet, then try a traditional aircraft.

- I wanted to buy this toy for my sons at Christmas but waited. After Christmas I found them on sale at Wal-Mart for $10 each! They work great but the M-1 Tank runs the best. The tracks stay on better, but overall they are both great toys!
- It is a great toy. I think all kids would like it. It goes fast and the missles shoot far.
- I really like missle tank. I shoot my sister with it. Then she crys and my daddy takes it and throws it out of our appartment building. Then he buys me a new one! :)jajaja!
- pepperoni
no anchovies
The RC is soo cool, it shoots missles and stuff
but the dont explode
My dads gonna get me a real tank for christmas
you crazy not to buy this
- They call it a Megatech Missile Launcher but at my house we call it the Cat Assault Vehicle. I have two cats and this RC Tank is about the coolest thing to torment cats with (in a nice way) My oldest cat will try to catch the missiles that come directly at him and the youngest tries to intercept the Nerf bombardment anytime I have it running. The greatest thing is that when the Turrets activates... It's at a perfect angle to Shell cats who believe they are safe in a chair or table. It's a very fun to chase the cats around, I know they like it because when it is recharging they sit right next to it. I'm thinking of adding a Laser and a little Spy Camera so I can declare war on the cats from the comfort of my chair. I'm sure the hull of it can house whatever modifications, It is a large vehicle.
The Pro's
(1) Declare War on your Cats.
(2) It's fast and capable of climbing obstacles as long as it doesn't bottom out.
(3) Missiles shoot about 8ft and with practice you can shoot cats without a problem.
(4) I use mine in my living room so I cant really say anything about the range.
(5) Comes with 10 extra darts (20 Total) and a page of stickers.
The Con's
(1) 15 to 20 minute battery life with 4 hour recharge.
(2) My own personal unit speaks in Chinese.

- This is one of the few R/C planes that can fly inside your home. Comparing to the Silverlit PalmZ, this plane is much better looking and can be more precisely controlled. However, it is twice as expensive, has a little less thrust-to-weight ratio, and has shorter flight time.
The fun factor is very high for this kind of product (yeah, flying R/C planes inside your own home! How cool is that!). But for its price, I would expect something more durable. Though the plane can take on quite a few crashes, the styrofoam wings get dented, cracked, and chip easily. I would highly recommend that you protect the edges of the wings with light weight scotch tape immediately out of the box. Such a simple protection goes a long way.
- This plane dose not fly in a stright line. it dose not have enugh power. When i was flying the plane
it lost signal at about 5 feet from me. I would not buy this product again.
- Very easy to fly and works indoors and outdoors. Suitable for older teens and adults as if can be fragile.

- this toy is so-so if you don't have a baseball or football field because it has a little problem where it always turns to the left. all times i tried to ground launch it spun out but a hand launch is fine, if your in a big field fun toy, will review again after baseball-football field try-out
- Well i got this toy for a christmas present and I loved it so much. I had been wanting a good rc plane for ever! I finally had one so I was really looking forward to flying it. I went outside with my uncle and we tryed to launch it from the ground. It would not go straight so me & my uncle were adjusting it so much. We got tired of ground launching so we hand launched it. I tried to hand launch it and it was horrible. I mean you really need to throw it with some force to get it to stay in the air. I really recommend that you throw hard with a very small upward slant or it will nosedive within 10-15 feet. The upward slant is because when you throw it straight with normal force it will fly some and in 30 feet its landing gear will tap the ground and then it will go back up.As i was saying we finally hand launched it and the first time it failed. Some time around the 4th or 5th time we broke a propeller. Then we got it real high and it hit the top of a pine-tree. Lucky for me it fell and everything was fine. then i noticed it had broke another propeller. I broke a total of 3 propellers and finally quit playing. as i walked inside i wasn't really paying attention and i snapped the left or right tailwing totally off the plane. I also snapped the tail rudder. That brought me to tears and i was so sad then. I was gonna get a refund or replacement for cruddy durability. We never got around to it so about a month or 2 later i decided to get it out again. My mom hot glued the tailwings and rudder back on and i snapped the new propeller back on and went flying. After i flew for a few minutes, always crashing it because it went to0 fast I crashed it. I then let my nehibor fly it and he is real good at this kind of stuff. He was used to flying an aeroace and he threw it and it barrel rolled so it was on its side like a banking airplane. The roll made it shoot torwards the ground at real fast speeds. When it hit it broke the other tailwing so i ran in and told mom that the tail broke again. But this time i didn't cry because me dog had just chewed my aeroace up and i was now used to stuff breaking. We hot glued it and then i decided to write this review. It really would be
3 1/2 stars. Here are a few notes for people who read this review.
1: even though this plane states to be easy to fly it isn't very good to be a beginner. I recommend being an intermediate-expert flyer.
2: really try to find a field to fly this in. the reasons are, it has a lot of room and on your street you will never be able to fly it. also it will be more fun because the box says it has a 500 ft. range and it will be more fun at good range.
3: always fly on a fully charged battery and with good light and winds no higher than 5 mph.
PEOPLE WHO DO NOT READ LONG REVIEWS PLEASE READ THIS ONE IT IS VERY HELPFUL AND WILL HELP YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PEOPLE WHO DO NOT READ LONG REVIEWS PLEASE READ THIS ONE IT IS VERY HELPFUL AND WILL HELP YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you for your nice time,
Will
- This is nice and not too much money. I have a great time flying this and it charges from the control so you dont have to run to the house every time. love it
- The best thing I can say about this airplane is that the Megatech Customer Service is very helpful. The wing was sent to us with a huge crease that precluded its use (1st call to Customer Service - they sent me a new wing with no charge). The next problem was with the battery - it lasted for two flights (second call to Customor Service - made me pay for a new battery). It was probably because it was recharged while it was still warm from use (a no-no according to the directions), but I would say its a poor design if the battery can't be recharged immediately after use. Overall, for a remote control airplane this price is right, flying is easy, but the quality of the power system is poor.
