- Pros: Awesome detailed sculpt; cool paint job; awesome accessories; shoulder plates, chest plate and head can be removed and switched with other figures for custom Spartans; Color scheme is much whiter than it appears in Amazon photos
Cons: Joints feel weak, which makes posability a potential problem; images on Macfarlane's website show grenade stored on back of hip (Amazon images show it on the thigh) but holes on hips are too small to accommodate storage peg; Rifle is a bit loose in Spartan's hands; Proportions might be a little off but looks good overall
Also of note is the fact that while this and the other Spartan figures (excluding Master Chief) have removable armor for customization, there is only one white armored figure so customization options are limited.
- This figure has great detailing and is very poseable. At first some of the joints were a little stiff, especially in the ankles and feet. The head, chestplate, and shoulders are removable so they can be swapped with other figures but at times this can be a little frustrating. While trying to pose the figure the shoulder pieces kept falling off the moment my fingers so much as brushed against them. I recommend removing them before attempting to pose the arms.
The assault rifle and grenade the figure comes with can be attached with pegs to a few points on the Spartan, or held in the hands. While the pegs and peg holes hold them well, the hands are another story. I can get the grenade in the left hand for some poses, but it's better off on the thigh. The rifle is meant to go in the right hand with the left supporting it, but the space between the fingers and thumb on the right hand is so small you need to grab them and force them apart to get the rifle to snap in. Even then the rifle hangs loosely, only held in place by by the spot where the fingers and thumb connect.
I'm just nitpicking now. This is a great toy with a few minor annoyances, but nothing to make me regret buying it. A good addition to any Halo fan's collection.

- Opened my figure only to have the hammer come out in two pieces. The top half must have broken in transit to the store where I bought him. The figure and hammer were securely fastened in the packaging with tape and twist ties. It is nothing a little glue did not fix but I'm afraid if the hammer takes a fall or dropped it can break again. Figure looks great and well articulated.
- So, i bought this figure for several reasons, foremost of which it just looks awesome
and having gotten it home, it does
it looks awesome
but looks can be decieving
there are a couple problems with this thing
most notable of which is the right hand
the pictures show it holding the hammer, yet mine came glued together, and i actually had to cut the thumb away from the fingers
that being said, the individual peices on this thing are very high quality plastic
i am somewhat afraid of breaking it, but i'll explain that in my next point
the articualtion is a brain teaser
some of it is standard, the ankles move, the knees move, the chest moves, and the shoulders bend
but they crammed a lot of articulation into a timy figure, and that means that figuring out what piece rotates is a pain in the patuki
and it doesn't hold the hammer with both hands, only the left
but
the hammer rocks
like
really
it just plain rocks
the detail and painting is fantastic, and the peg hole for attatching it to the backs of characters is practicly invisable
also, the plastic gives enough that extranious bits like the prongs on the head and arm shield have little fear of breaking or falling off
all in all, this is a great figure for display, albiet somewhat awekwardly (i've found using the hammer as a guitar works well :D)
this toy is alright for play, not the best thing, but not horrible either

- I bought this item for collection purposes only. I do not intend to open the product to play with it, but I can say that the detail is awesome, which is to be expected from all McFarlane toys. The only grip that I have is that it is shown, on the packaging and in pictures all over promoting this figure, having a grenade. And as far as I can tell, not one of Master Chief's figures have one. But overall, I would recommend it to any Halo fan or video game figures collector.
- I purchased the Halo figure for my teen drawing class. It is excellent proportionally and an interesting subject for the kids to draw. Full articulation lends itself to varied vantage points and added "energy" to a pose. Would like a little larger sized figure and one that doesn't feel fragile...I suspect that the compromise would be for the details and articulations...so overall I would take the details/articulations over the sturdiness.
- As others have said there is no grenade included and certainly no "grenade accessory pack." This is not just amazon's description because on the actual box it clearly lists "grenades" as one of the features. What should happen is simple, McFarlane toys should offer a free grenade to anyone affected by this and the seller should change the description to reflect the problem.
- Are you kidding me. Nothing else out there can compare to the incredible detail of these figures. I have been wanting a master cheif since Halo 2 but held off because the other figures before Mcfarlane's looked retarded. This is master chief at his finest. No complaints here. I do not open my figures however, so I wouldnt know if these are great for play. In my opinion these are mainly made for collectors. Mcfarlane actually targets the older collector audience. I am very pleased over all.
Fantastic figures! Don't understand how anyone could not rate this product a 5 out of 5.
- I got this for my 6-year-old son, and you know how discerning kids can be at that age. He thinks it's the coolest - the design and attention to detail are fantastic. I'm thinking the thumb is a little weak and might break off after too much activity with the rifle, but so be it. (I wonder if toys these days are made more for the 35-year-old guys who live at home and collect them, rather than kids who will play with the toys.)
