- We gave this truck to our 10-year old nephew. Once we got the batteries into it, the car was played with non-stop all day. Even our 3-year old niece was able to operate the car once she was shown the controls. The car goes forward and backward and stands up on the back wheels and spins in a circle. The car stands up to crashes into walls and other objects. It takes 8 batteries, but the car was still going strong after 6 hours. This was the hit toy at our Christmas. I would recommend this product--highly.
- At 3 1/2, our boy can make this truck do everything it's designed to. The pistol grip control helps him to keep just one hand pushing buttons, too. The battery install in the controller isn't very intuitive, but once we got that right (read directions, eh?) all systems were GO! The two built in stunts are a big hit, too.
We're not into gory stuff, so we removed the yucky decals on the sides.

- While my 2 year old keeps playing with it, I think its because he enjoys driving his car on a track. That alone makes it worth while, but the product itself is cheap, cheap, cheap. the plastic is flimsy, the bridge supports dont stay in place, the yellow stickers they provide for the lines on the street dont stick on the roads - I keep finding them all over my house. It comes with tons of very small parts which add very little value to a child of any age. I would rather have spent my $13 plus shipping on a toy of some substance. Dont waste your money.
- Not really satisfied with the product overall. Once my nephew opened it on Christmas morning I was a little dissatisfied out how cheap and poorly made it was, has not played with it since, Plus there were way TOO many small peices. Packaged item assembled does not match the picture.

- My son asked for this toy from Santa and received it Christmas morning. He has played with it, I kid you not, EVERY DAY since. As other reviewers have said, it's not the greatest tub toy, but I don't think it was meant to be a tub toy in the first place. My son has taken it apart and put it back together a million different ways. He also has the squid sub, and the only drawback to that, as far as I can tell, is that I keep finding purple squid parts around the house. This is an awesome toy -- don't hesitate to get it for your little one!
- My son got this from Santa for Christmas and he LOVES it! It's durable and has held up to all the abuse my five year old can muster. My son loves to take it apart and make little boats and he can put it all back together on his own with out any help. He has enjoyed long hours of playtime with it. I recommend this toy!( My daughter even enjoys playing with it)
- Very cool toy, durable, uses the imagination by allowing the child to create many different ships. Snaps apart and together easily by the child. My son never wants to get out of the tub! We also bought the sub which allows the ship to become motorized, a very cool set that will last a long time.
- I gave this to my 5 year old son for Christmas. He loves it and it is still holding up months later. I like the versatility of this product. The pieces come apart and can be rearranged to make different size boats and has wheels so that it can roll on the floor as well. My son even takes it in the bath with him! He likes the shark and action figures as well as the crane and harpoon. A very solid product.
- My son loves this toy. Every day he finds a new feature. It reconfigures in so many different ways and he was able to figure them out himself. I often find the Matchbox toys (other than diecast cars) cheaply made, falling apart easily leaving us all frustrated. I have found this ship to exceed my expectations. It has spent days on end in the bath tub, put together as one large ship, taken apart to smaller ships and back again. Some of the plastic parts are thin, but so far it has held up well without falling apart. Of all the toys that my son has, this one gets the most use.

5 comments about Mattel Hot Wheels Flip N Go Spin City Playset.
- It is about time that Hot Wheels came out with a product that doesn't break straight out of the box!! My son LOVES this toy. These types of toys usually only last at most a week or two because of pieces snapping and breaking but this one is still going strong after 2 months. The best part is the fact that I don't have to keep putting it back together every 10 minutes. And he uses it with his brother and friends. Also, has all of the little sounds and "stops" along the way so it keeps his attention. The boys playing with this are 6 to 9 years old. I highly recommend this for everybody and also for people who are sick and tired of throwing away $40 for flimsy car sets. Worth every stinkin' penny.
- This is a fun toy, but doesn't seem to be a toy that's sought out for too much repaet play. The thrill is over after the first few rounds. I think it doesn't run as smoothly as it could either. But my 6 year old was not disappointed to receive it.
- Looks cool and fun, but can only entertain for short periods of time. As mentioned in other reviews, the 2 main parts of this toy operate separately and take away from the fun moment by having to adjust the spiral to work with the washer/garage section. Most of the cars do work to some degree of success i.e. speed of descent on ramp. The one main fault I see with this kind of toy is that it does not have enough to it to keep a child interested for more than 15 minutes, but does give you enough time to get something done while the child is playing with it.
This makes a good "take a long" toy to share with other relatives/friends children and was one of the better toys released during that year.
- We got this for our 3 & 6 year old boys. It was fun for a week or so, but they don't seem to play with it much anymore. It makes a lot of noise, and when they play with it now, it's not really making the cars go, it's just playing all the different noises. I think it needs to go on a shelf for a while and then bring it back out - it really seemed like a cool toy to me!
Don't make this mistake: as any parents know, these days toys are tethered to their boxes lest they should escape. One of the plastic cords I cut in an effort to liberate the toy from the box was not designed to be cut, it was the cord that holds the two pieces together for the "flip & go" feature. Well, ours will never "flip & go": it sits where it sits, and doesn't go on trips, and that hasn't been a big problem for us. I just wasn't very happy about "breaking it" right out of the box.
- Where to start - I guess our major disappointment is in the up and down feature. After 15 minutes it no longer went up. My husband attempted to fix it, assuming a loose connection. No Luck. No it occasionally goes up? Even if it worked perfectly there are some major flaws. First of course is that it really only works with race cars. Hard to explain to a 3 yr old. You are supposed to start at the carwash and the car I guess flys onto the track but it never does that. When you do the carwash the car flys off the track entirely. And like others said the action stops because you have to flip the car slot to make it go down. I have a hard time figuring out how to use it. And I don't really feel it is a fold up and go toy because you would break things - there is no real cover like the other close up toys have.
We should have gotten turbo city.

- I bought this for my 3-year-old nephew and he loved it. When I saw it here on Amazon I thought this could be really cool or it could be really cheap and flimsy. I decided to get it based on the reputation of mattel, and I have to say it was really cool! My brother and sister-in-law loved that it cleaned up so easily and that it took up little space when closed. It is one of my nephew's favorite toys.
- Hands down, this is my 5 year old son's FAVORITE Christmas present! He plays with it daily and for a LONG period of time. No other toy has come close to capturing his attention for an extended period of time. He's pretty rough and it's managed to hold up thus far. Of course, some of the smaller pieces (the captain? & a cannon ball) are missing (I wish that I could buy extra pieces separately), but other than than he is doing a pretty good job of keeping up with everything & collapsing the item himself. We haven't traveled with it yet, but I'm positive that it'll be most appreciated on visits. We'll have to add another set for his birthday.
- I haven't even bought this yet, but my almost 5 year old son saw the commercial on tv and wanted it. He just got his 30th sticker to complete his sticker chart (each sticker worth $1 in toy value) for this toy. I started with 1 $15 take along a while ago (Harbor, on sale), figuring it would be a great travel or on the go toy. I was beyond amazed at the value of this. It opens up, has tons of ramps, little pieces, room for cars, landings for airplanes and helicopters, HOURS of play. And ESPECIALLY when I am somewhere else I want my little one to be occupied with something fun that isn't too bulky or heavy to travel with.
Since then we've added two more to the collection. Now he can set them up together and ramp them to each other to make giant play areas which all come apart and fold up and get put away quite easily. A fantastic toy for a playdate or a get together at a grown up party/event where the kids need some fun toys to occupy themselves. I put a bunch of cars, planes and helicopters in a zippered or zip lock bag and EVERYBODY is happy!!!! Can't wait to get this addition to our collection!
- It was a week before Christmas and I was searching for a toy for my sister-in-laws son whose 5 YOA when I came across this toy. I saw the many reviews and read all of them. The majority of them gave "thumbs up" on the toy. So, I ordered it for him. When I got in touch with my sister-in-law after Christmas she stated that it was a hit. This was a case where I relied on others who had bought the toy first.
- This toy is just perfect for my son (6 years old). His twin brother can play with it at the same time without crowding each other. There are spaces for every item (small pirates, alligator, canon, treasure chest) to secure on the playset so they don't fall off while playing. They also secure in their own areas when closing the unit up. Because it's so portable, it's the perfect toy to take to Grandmas or a friend's house. My son hasn't lost any of the pieces yet and it's been in our house for 3 months, and opened up dozens of times. Even though this toy is plastic, it is very durable. This is definitely worth the money.
