1. i believe 10-80 ft/lbs range is ideal for the weekend shade-tree auto mechanic. i used this wrench for suspension, brakes and minor engine work. overall very pleased, has a solid feel to it. not the best torque wrench i've seen so far but much better than that auto store loaner tools. i expect to use it for a long time. keep in mind that torque wrenches are not meant to be dropped, used as hammers or breaker bars.



2. Seems to work well for it's intended use. For the price, it's great. I haven't used it much, but the shorter length makes it more convenient to use than a full size torque wrench. Only peeve is that it is calibrated in Newton-Meters and Meter-Kilograms, but most torque specs are now in metric, and conversion is easy.



3. Contrary to the previous reviewer, this wrench is NOT marked in Nm (Newton-meters). Rather, it's marked in ft-lbs and m-Kgs. While that means it's technically both metric and SAE, the metric scale that is listed in all of auto manuals is Nm.
   
   The construction of the wrench appears decent and it feels good, but I don't want to have to consult a torque-conversion table every time I tighten something. So I may just end up sending this back and try to fine another 3/8" marked in Nm. Too bad... it appears to be a good product.



4. This tool is well made, graduated in SAE and metric, and comes with case and manual. I bought it for working on my motorcycle.
   
   The case is excellent, as it contains moulded slots for extensions and adapters as well. Buy a 3/8"-1/2' adapter with it!
   
   The manual is obviously a literal translation but does the job well, by explaining the theory behind the use of a torque-wrench, and includes conversion formulae and calculations for use of an extension.
   
   Have not had it long enough to test its durability, but the tool seems of good construction. I have had enough bad tools to know...

1. You should be getting a pair of hex keys...one for metric and another for inches.Stanley produces the best tools & this is no exception. Now people like me don't have to worry about losing another hex key. One caution though: The hex keys don't detach.If u intend to use it in tight spaces, it's going to be hard to maneuver.



2. This is a good product for a good price. It's from Stanley so you know it's quality. However, as another reviewer noted, you get two separate sets, one metric and one SAE, not 17 in 1 as the title would have you believe. No problem, I'd rather them be separate; 17 in 1 would be too bulky.

1. For the price, the quality & the sizes contained in this set, it is a great bargain... and the holder is easy is very user friendly... AAA+++



2. These tools are great. They are just what I've been looking for. They are original, shiney and bright. They also came with their own case, which is very handy.



3. I putter and do a little DIY around the house and on the cars and I am completely satisfied with the quality of these wrenches. These wrenches are bargain priced and, although I was a little sceptical, they have exceeded my expectations. For years I have been making do with crescent wrenches so it is very nice use wrenches that actually fit!
   
   The storage rack is very handy, making wrench management easy. The only downside is the carry handle for the rack is flimsy. In fact, the handle was broken during shipping and was unusable. I did not think it was worth the trouble of returning it, as the rack is still usable.

5 comments about World's Best Universal Oil Filter Wrench.

1. I will not need another oil filter wrench. I used it to install an oil filter on a motorcycle using a torque wrench; however, I did have to buy a 1/2 to 3/8 drive adapter since the wrehch has a 1/2" square recptacle.



2. It is a great product, it should mention on the product description that there is an 1/2 to 5/8 adaptor attached on it.



3. I was surprised when I received the wrench that it did not come with
   an adapter for your wrench. Most people use a 3/8th in socket wrench.
   The size on this is 1/2 inch, so I had to go out and spend another $7.00
   for an adapter. I also had to go to 3 different stores to find it. So the
   cost and convience of getting this via mail (since it cost about $7.00 to ship was negated. Also, the jaws open clockwise or counterclockwise
   freely, so if you're working in a tight spot, it may be difficult to use
   because the "jaws" do not wrap around the filter. I was thinking about
   using some rubber bands to hold the jaws in place. I would be nice if
   one could invent one that is spring loaded so that the jaws would grip
   the oil filter enough as not to fall off , then you could apply the
   pressure for use..



4. I have yet to actually use the item, but I can tell you it is obvious it is going to work and work well. Using it with just the operation by my fingers, shows the idea to be rather ingenious yet simple. I have no doubt it will
   work. I will be changing my oil in a couple of weeks.



5. The reviewer who had to go out and buy an adapter wasted his money. The wrench is built for 3/8" and includes the adapter for other sizes. Works fine.

1. Was just what I needed that allowed me to finish the work I was doing on my car without having to bother folks to use their torque wrench. Highly recommended for the price, since I am a "back yard" type guy I feel this will do the job for me for a long time.



2. Works well. Reading the settings requires my reading glasses, but overall, I am very satisfied.



3. I am a full time mechanic. I did not feel the need for a snap-on wrench at this time because i needed this wrench for the lower value foot lbs. The wrench works well and is accurate and should last me awhile with heavy use.

1. On the plus side, this is a hex set that contains more sizes than you'll ever need or use. It should take care of any and all mechanical projects you need to work on. Be aware, though, that these hex wrenches do not have the "ball" end.
   
   The worst feature is the plastic box it comes in. Fuller needs to totally rework the design. The tiniest of the wrenches all too quickly and easily fall out with the slightest bump. Once that happens, good luck at trying to figure out what each size is, IF you're able to find them. This hex set with its poorly-designed case will not hold up to the rough treatment that it would receive in any repair shop, and remain intact.



2. I agree with the previous reviewer. The multitude of sizes is terrific - the case is an abomination. Most of the little plastic tabs that hold the keys in place were broken off on arrival. Several more have broken since I started using the set. This makes it impossible to use the case to keep the keys organized. If you purchase this set, plan on devising an alternate means to store the keys.



3. I prefer these types of loose keys to the pocket-knife sets since they require less room to use. This particular set contains all of the keys I've ever needed for electronics and home repair, and then some.
   
   The smallest keys I cannot see using, since I've never seen a hex screw that small, and I'm sure it would bend or break with the required torque.
   
   Like the other reviewers, I agree that the case is horrible. I keep the whole thing in my tool chest drawer so that it's not tossed around but still cannot seem to keep the small keys in their place. Fortunately, the large ones--the ones I acutally use--do stay put.
   
   This set is the most expansive of the ones I've seen for sale here, and still recommend it despite the problems of the case.



4. Good set, really really lousy case. Case was broken on arrival. It's a piece of plastic, couldn't they have splurged 2 cents and made it extra-nice?
   
   I bought this set pretty much exclusively for the smallest hex keys, they are somewhat hard to find, but I broke one of them just taking it out of the box - it's not that they are badly made, it's just that they are too thin to be practical, if you need a key this small, I would suggest just drilling out the set screw or using tweezers to screw it in, there is no way a hex key that small can do the job.
   
   Conclusion: I'd buy it again, it's a good set for the price.



5. Well please with both the product and the prompt shipment. These tools have been so handy when it comes to small item repairs.

1. I have had a heck of a time trying to find a wrench with such low torque settings in town, went on Amazon and found this one. Have had great luck with it thus far, would strongly it to anyone doing extensive auto work needing a low torque wrench.



2. Was just what I needed that allowed me to finish the work I was doing on my car without having to bother folks to use their torque wrench. Highly recommended for the price, since I am a "back yard" type guy I feel this will do the job for me for a long time.



3. Don't be alarmed if your package insert reads 20-150 in-lb, since the wrench itself is marked to 220 in-lb. Perhaps the +/- 4% accuracy only appies up to 200 in-lb. A 10% torque bonus!

5. I looked in several places in our town and could only fine wrenches that were 2-3x more expensive. This is a high quality tool and was a good transaction.
