1. The product is powerful with a three hp motor, and it is compact in size. But the durability will be limited in it's original design. For example, I've possessed the product for three weeks and already have replaced the canister rollers with a higher quality material. This added $9 to the actual cost, plus the need to drill new holes for the canister swivels. I was also surprised that there is no assessory storage on the canister.
   
   Powerful little vacuum, but use it in a more delicate environment, perhaps in carpeted areas. My brick garage floor was too unforgiving. For a few dollars more (about double of what the roller replacement cost) one can get a vacuum with 2.5 inch inlets rather than the 1.5 inch of this model and tougher quality components. That's a better buy IF space for storage isn't an issue. Mine's going to be moved to the woodshop for little clean-up jobs and replaced with a larger unit for the garage.



2. This is a good powerful vacuum. I really like the fact that it is light weight and very easy to move around the house. The attachments are convenient and the vacuum is easy to store. We had one for many years and gave it to our son. We really missed it and am so glad we were able to replace it.

3. It's not a bad vac. Great for carry around. The wheels will not stay on, so it's good you can carry it.It's not made as well, IMO as other models of shop-vacs; everything is much cheaper made and probably won't last as long as my previous ones.The hose tends to clog up easily, but there is good suction. All in all it's a good little vacuum for spot jobs.



4. This is my second All Around vacuum. My husband took my first one to use in his shop. The small size makes it so much easier to work with and you can actually lift it up with one hand and reach ceiling cobwebs with the hose in your other hand....try that with a big huge shop vacuum!! It has more power than you will ever need. I would be willing to bet that 95% of those who try this little gem will not return to the big awkward vacs.



5. The other vacs in the market look commercial not for the home. This one is for the home small, light and powefull for praperies, furnitures and corners.

1. This brand fits more snug then the original brand that came with the vacuum. It works though.



2. I could not be happier with these. Exactly the same filter that I bought locally at twice the price. Shipping was great - almost overnight and very affordable. I can change filters every two months since I have a good supplier at an affordable price. I feel this is much healthier than the recommended "once a year".
   
   The filters fit snug the first few times you put them on but slide on easier after that. This was true of the locally-bought filters as well.

1. These bags are wonderful! I have the 2 gallon model of the Wet/Dry shop vac and when I use this bag, I can get all the crevaces in my stairs quickly and practically dust free! Particularly great with cleaning out the wood stove! Without the bag more dust is sent into the air.

   I highly recommend using this bag with your shop vac.

3. Theses are just what I need. I use the small shop vac to clean my pellet stove and I have to have the bags due to the fine ash. These work perfect.

1. This hose fits the standard 4" couplings snugly. The nice thing is that it will not get damaged by accidentally stepping on it. It springs back. It is light enough to be used as a movable hose for picking up a pile of sawdust. It isn't affected by a strong vacuum, so it is strong enough to not collapse without springing back. Nice job Jet. It is a wire reinforced hose.
   The wire clamps are the best to secure it. Typical band clamps, like the type that are used for water hoses are not suggested. They spread themselves over the coiled wire. Such a wire is not meant to collapse. The wire clamps on the other hand are meant to slide down in between the wires, meeting with the plastic hose material, enabling the preferred compression directly onto the sleeve. Jet makes nice wire clamps as well.
   Overall highly recommended.



2. I bought this hose to use with a Jet dust collector in my one car garage wood shop. Though my shop is small and the collector is very portable, I decided that the best dust solution for me was to duct the collector down one wall of the shop with several gated outlets for various stationary tools and one gated outlet near the floor for mobile tools out in the center of the room.
   
   This 10' Jet hose proved to be an essential component of this system. I used 4' lengths of galvanized metal duct everywhere that I could, but I still needed plenty of this flex hose to make the connections to my radial arm saw and miter saw (since the dust ports on these tools move while in use).
   
   I have been very pleased with the rigidity and strength of this hose - in fact, my only beef is that it is almost too rigid. If you have a length of it that you use for mobile tools, it is very cumbersome since it does not easily roll up for storage.
   
   I am happy to report that this hose fit perfectly on all of my 4" dust collection fittings (all of which were made by Jet also). In my opinion, the hose is well made even if its a bit too rigid, and the price is ok. I have also used the Woodstock International hose and find it to be cheaper and more flexible but not nearly as strong or crush resistant. Choose the one with the features that meet your needs.



3. An A+ product and a reasonable price. Be ready to warm up this hose to get it flexible and buy the grounding kit...plastic hose can really build up static electricity...



4. The hose is still in the box, but it looked okay. Only time will tell if the quality is there.

   a few reasons.
   1, it creats way too much static ground it or else!!!
   2, it is like a big slinkey it tries to shrink back to its 12" colapsed size when ever there is suction.
   3 if you use it to make a bend then turn on the system it will pinch the bend almost closed thus reducing the flow way too much!!
   4, the plastic covering is very cheap like a 4 mil drop cloth feel.
   i have a 2hp 1650 cfm system in my shop and no matter what i hook it to it tries to shrink when i turn it on even with the"big gulp" or my 12"x 10" lathe hood..
   i have several hoses different types and never had one this bad
   its like a spring wound in a trashbag!!
   seriously aviod this go the extra $1.00 to $3.00 and get a heavy duty hose you will not regret the extra cost as much as you will regret this junk!!

4 comments about Jet JW1047 4-Inch Quick Disconnect.

1. I already have one of these and needed a 2nd one. I like this style disconnect because no clamp is needed to hold on the hose.
   
   The 4 inch hose just screws right on the end and hold very firm and air-tight. The other end, well, after all these years you would think that they would make a quick disconnect end that fits over the fitting a bit better, but it still fits enough to give an airtight seal. It is definitely OK for the designed usage of moving it from one machine to another.
   
   If the fit was better I'd rate it 5 stars. Also, be wary of the price, this item can usually be had for less than $3.00.



2. I found it a little difficult to get it to thread on my 4" pipe and it didn't seem like it would stay put without a spring clamp. Serves it's purpose though.



3. I've used it using a 4" hose to connect it to different machines. For the most part it works well but for some machines it will just get disconnected (no matter how hard you press it). I've found that using duct tape or masking tape around the machine's port helps to keep this adaptor from falling.



4. Bought 4 of these and installed on the ends of two different length flex hoses. They are great for connecting up the different tools to the dust collector. The angle on the flange is big enough so they fit the tools, but small enough so they don't slip off.

1. Good quality clamp. Well made without sharp edges. Threads worked flawlessly. Dual ring securely attaches dust hose to any connection.
   
   However, the bolt head sticks out about 2". This is not a problem on fixed position installations, but it is inconvenient for portable dust hoses. For the rare end connection that will be moved from machine to machine use the standard hose clamps with a low profile blue handle.



2. I recommend these clamps to anyone who needs to permanently clamp their 4" hose to an outlet, adapter, inlet, etc. They form a good tight seal and do not fall off once properly tightened down.
   I would not recommend these type clamps for an application where you would be moving the hose to different tools or positions. Reason being, one you would have to get your screw driver or socket wrench out, and two because the wear and tear of the clamp tightening on the hose over and over again would eventually wear a hole in the hose.



3. These clamps work well on ventilation hose that you would use in a dust collection system. They are much cheaper and they clamp tight. Regular hose clamps slip because of the ribs in the hose.



4. I see that Amazon lowered the price back down to $1. At the time of my original review, they price was up around $4...hence the 1 star. The product itself works as advertised, so I give it 5 stars.



5. I used a whole lot of these when I set up my dust collection system, and I can say that the hype is justified. These thin metal clamps slip between the ridges on the flex hose perfectly to create a very air-tight connection. I also appreciate the phillips head on the tightening bolt - it makes it a lot easier to crank these down quickly with a drill/driver.
   
   A word of advice - I found these clamps to be A LOT cheaper at Menards.

1. Would get the same results if I tied on an old sock to the dust chute.
   Quickly clogs and becomes ineffective. Use a Vac or dust collector instead.



2. Installs in seconds, easy to install, works well and easy to empty. Another good purchase for an awesome tablesaw. Great purchase and have no regrets.



3. Ideal for places where you can't hook up a shop vac, though it really doesn't help all that much with the mess the saw makes. My 4000-09 saw blows sawdust everywhere, it seems about 50% actually gets to the exhaust port, regardless of what type of material I'm cutting. The bag catches some of it, but not a lot.
   
   The biggest drawback to the bag is its length. It might seem great for holding lots of dust before needing to be emptied, but it's so long it gets caught in the wheel of the Bosch gravity rise stand. It can be left on if it's rotated 180 degrees at the dust port, but if you forget to flip it back over it won't catch any dust at all.



4. lets face it - it is not a vacuum but it helps. it collects a fair amount of dust from my Dewalt 745. for the price it does alot - i put it on everytime i use my saw since it just makes cleaning up a little easier.



5. This device does work, but it clogs up really easily-thus creating tons of blow back from the kerf plate. I used it a few times then retired it. Vacuum or dust pile is the way I roll.

1. You don't have a lot of choice on which brand or type of bag to buy when you own a Miele vacuum cleaner. This bag is like the Cadillac of vacuum bags, nothing at all like your typical paper bag for other vacuum cleaners. It's so soft and strong. In a pinch, I have emptied out the bag and reused it many times before it ripped.

5 comments about Jet JW1044 4-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch Reducer.

1. I purchased this with a dust collection hood for my planer. The hood has a 4" port. I thought that I could plug my shop vac hose into this adapter and then plug the adapter into the hood. My mistake! This will allow you to adapt a 4" hose to a 2.5" hose, but I had to tape the adapter to the hood as both ends of the adapter are female.



2. This item works as advertised. I bought this when I was setting up my dust collection system and wanted to connect it to my spindle sander (which takes a shop-vac type of connector). I was not careful when I read the dimensions of this reducer. This will not work for such purpose. It will work if you want to connect your shop-vac to it and then connect the other end to the 4" connector of a machine. The problem is that a shop-vac is 2 1/4" and not 2 1/2. There is a different adaptor you could use for that.



3. you would think this fitting is all you need to be able to use a shop vac,
   it wont work; unless you also buy a 4" hose and other fittings?
   dont waist your money, (there are other fitting out there)



4. I bought this adapter to reduce the 4 inch opening on my delta planner but it is the exact size as the opening on the planner. I though the purpose of a reducer was to fit 4 inch openings without another adapter. I had to buy a 4 inch to 4 inch coupling to make this work.



5. I use this almost daily when I swap the dust collector hood next to my lathe for a hose fitting to vacuum up all the chips that went elsewhere. I have a quick connect fitting on the 4" hose to easily swap it from the hood to this reducer. This reducer is such a tight fit that I can barely get it deep enough in the mating fitting to hold. It pops out easily just on the weight of 6' of 2 1/2 in hose.
