5 comments about Cloud b Twilight Turtle - Constellation Night Light.
  1. I gave this to my friend's little girl on her 2nd birthday and she is absolutely in love with it. The colors and the stars really spark her imagination and she refuses to go to sleep without it and even sings an unrecognizable little song to the turtle every night, its soooo cute. I'm going to give this gift over and over again to every child's' birthday party I go to, it's a HUGE hit.

  2. I bought this because I just loved the idea of stars on the ceiling and for $30 its a great way to achieve that. The turtle is adorable and once its DARK the lights really shine. Blue looks the brightest though. My only complaint is that I wish it had an adaptor or bigger batteries and it should have an AUTOMATIC TIMER. I would love to be able to just walk away and let it shut off on its own. Would recommend this product for 3+.

  3. My three-year old nephew has been fascinated with my Homestar Personal Planetarium, but it is an advanced product--not for tiny people or fingers to explore. It occurred to me that I needed to find him his very own, "touchable" planetarium that he could learn to care for and use, perhaps enhancing further interest in the night sky and astronomy. Therefore, I was delighted to find this product on Amazon, and after reading the various reviews, I decided that this was the right item to buy. And it was! :) The Twilight Turtle is a unique and happy product--doesn't the world need more of those? With its smooth star-studded shell, soft changeable lights, gentle, sleepy appearance, and its big activation buttons, it has appeal for young children (like my nephew) as well as adults.

One of the things I consider when I buy something is the in-box / out of box experience. I found the Twilight Turtle's packaging to be of EXCELLENT, eye-catching quality, and the design makes one feel like he / she has truly purchased a special, lovable item---worthy of showing, keeping, sending, sharing, and gifting. In fact, the box itself is definitely worth keeping for future turtle storage or travel. When one first sees Twilight Turtle in the box, one sees him sitting on a bed of pond rocks under a peaceful starry night. (The toy's sweet expression is one of pleasant repose.) I was most impressed with the notation that the product had been individually hand painted, which offers an intriguing human touch not found in most items today. Immediately, I had a good feeling that the "Sleep Sheep & Friends: Soothing the Senses for Better Sleep" products were genuine, finely-crafted, multi-purpose toys that offer both comfort and learning.

Removing Twilight from the box was easy--not frustrating as some toys are today with all their many plastic twist ties, and activating Twilight was even easier. :) He came with a clever story to tell, and he was prepared to shine his lights for eager eyes. He wasn't too heavy for a child to hold or too big to overwhelm; his size was just right. The guide booklet's information was fun to read, and it enhanced the creative and educational aspects of the toy. Easy-to-find and easy-to-use buttons make the turtle accessible to various ages and stages. All three light colors seemed pleasing to our eyes--with the amber one being the dimmest / most restful, the blue being in the middle of intensity, and the green / emerald being the brightest. Thus, the user can modify his / her starry night for various "moods" of slumber, which is a feature that we liked.

Unlike the Homestar Planetarium, Twilight's stars do NOT move, and he has just eight constellations; however, these features were fine for our purposes---a simple, comforting product to encourage a little one to go to his own room for wonder, rest, and sleep.

As a night light, Twilight is truly a stellar product--pun intended! :) Champion of the little sleeper, the turtle chases away total darkness, anxiety, stress, and fear; he instills peace, confidence, joy, and curiosity. Though it seems targeted to children, I can see how this same product might also aid adults who need comfort, mood-setting, and sleep-help. (Most especially, for sick, injured, or otherwise, stressed adults!)

As an educational toy, the turtle can teach (if adults model important lessons) the following:

    1. Respect for a nice, personal object / property--no throwing, hitting, or mistreating the turtle

    2. Gentleness, ownership, and care-taking ( Certificate of Adoption is included with Turtle! )

    3. Vocabulary: Sensory details, Connections, & Colors--"Twilight" "Amber" "Blue" Green" "Constellation" "Shell" "Head" Legs" "Tail" "Belly," "Fuzzy," "Smooth," "Hard," "Soft," etc.

    4. Counting: to Seven & Shapes ( Shell Segments ); Counting Stars; Grouping

    5. Concepts: on / off; big / little; near / far; day / night; 45 minute timer, etc.

    6. Imagination: Storytelling about Twilight's family and pond adventures; Storytelling related to the constellations; creative storytelling individualized for child

    7. Beginning mythology and science: Who is Orion? Where do real turtles live?

    8. Healthy sleep / bedroom habits

Order Twilight Turtle, and he will transform your rooms and your heart. :)

  4. Excellent product. I bought this for my six month old- at this point I get more enjoyment out if it, but I know that she will once she is a bit older. I turn the turtle on, put on some music and create the most calming environment.

  5. I got this as a gift at my baby shower. It's neat, but I don't know how much we'll actually use it. I prefer a regular nightlight, so it pretty much just sits on a shelf.
    It's cute, though. :)

5 comments about Black & Decker 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Mulching Lawn Mower #CMM1200.
  1. I was excited when I saw the box in my driveway, so I immediately opened it up and found a put together, cool looking lawnmower. I figured it wouldn't start since I hadn't plugged it up yet, but I tried anyway and ended up cutting my entire yard!!! I love it! It is quiet, efficient, and effective. On taller grass, it does have a harder time, but I enjoy using the lawnmower so much, the grass doesn't have time to get tall!

  2. I did quite a bit of research/price comparison before purchasing the CMM1200, its pros far outweights its cons. I like it sounds like a vaccum cleaner and not bother the neighbors early in the morning. Its easy height adjustment is a great feature to have, as I change heights every time I cut.

A few nuisances: the outer plastic shell was broken on one side, maybe from shipping, Black and Decker stated they will ship a replacement to me in 2 weeks. The instruction manual can be improved, though little assembly is required (make sure you remove the paddings inside and out of the mower). The plastic handle that lets you start the mower seems weak, and can be broken with the right angle. The battery is okay for a small/mid size yard, but may require multiple charges for larger yards.

Overall it is a good buy, not as powerful as the gas ones and you do have to push this one yourself, so consider the trade-offs and make your decision!

  3. I got tired of buying gas mowers that would work great for one season and then become harder and harder to keep running over time. Decided to give a cordless mower a try to get away from the maintenance headaches.

I must admit, I'm pretty impressed with the mower. It cuts just as well as any previous gas mower I've had and start up & maintenance are incredibly simple.

The first season I mowed two yards, 75x150' minus house and pool and 50x150' minus small house in a single charge with no problems. We've moved residences between the two mowing seasons and our new yard is smaller so obviously no problems for me with mowing time.

The sound is considerably quieter than a regular mower. However, it is still loud. Some of the other reviews make it seem whisper-quiet which is not the case. Regardless, it's still much better than the alternative of a gas mower.

Personally, since I don't have a large yard and I cut regularly, I do not have any issues at all with mower power or cutting time. The only downside that I see is the weight. It weighs roughly the same as a self-propelled gas mower without being self propelled. No problem for me since I don't need to load it into a truck or push it up hills, but I can see why this could be a concern for some.

I've read some reviews here that say it is all "cheap, plastic, etc...". Overall, the machine seems to me to be strong and sturdy. Yes, it is primarily plastic but why would it be metal? There's no heat to melt the plastic like there would be on a gas powered machine and the plastic is lighter & will never rust.

The only part on the whole device that does seem a bit flimsy is the switch handle, which you keep pulled to keep the engine on. Admittedly, though I have had no problems, it does seem a bit flimsy. The rest of the construction of the cutting deck, wheels, handle, etc... all seem perfectly sound.

Overall, assuming you don't have a huge yard, I would highly recommend this machine. It's certainly nice not having to go fill up a gas can every time I need to mow or worry about whether or not my mower will start.

  4. Went from a reel mower to our first electric -- very pleased with it.
We have a small amount of grass so it's perfect for our yard.
It does choke out on the lowest setting -- other than that I'd
recommend it. (Would not use their corded mower -- that would just
    be a pain!)

  5. For four years I mowed my lawn with an old-fashioned reel mower. I had more than just a postage stamp sized yard, but it was nice to avoid the loud noise and messing with gas and oil.

Then I moved to house with a larger yard, so I bought a $200 gas mower and used it for the next five years. Twice the carburetor had problems, and I had to bring it in for repairs. Every winter I need to remember to run the gas tank dry, and every spring I have to bring it in for a general tune-up.

The most recent time the engine started sputtering, and I found there would be a two week wait for repairs, I decided to try a cordless electric. The Black & Decker looked like the only decent choice, based on research and reading reviews. The maximum charge time slowly decreasing from season to season worried me, but I decided to go ahead because there were so many positive reviews.

Getting the mower charged and running was easy. It is certainly much quieter and much less noisy than the gas mower. Adjusting the blade height was also trivial.

Note that the mower does not ship with a side discharge chute; you either have to bag grass or mulch it (or buy the chute separately). With my gas mower, I use the chute when the grass is a bit too long to mulch, and I don't know what to do with a dozen bags of grass clippings. I have to rake, but there isn't the huge bulk of clippings from everything going into the bag.

Unfortunately, the mowing quality was sub-par. I ended up overlapping rows much more than usual, and I still could see that the mower was leaving tall strips of grass here and there. The overlapping combined with having to go back over the ragged spots ended up taking noticeably longer than my usual mowing time, so much so that I ran the battery completely down. I tried again the next week, but the results were no better. Looking out over the finished job, there were *still* long spots that the mower didn't cut, plus the mower tracks were much more obvious from all the extra attempts it fixing it.

The poor mowing quality, combined with the worry of future battery problems, was enough reason to return it, and I went back to using the same gas mower. I know, I know, all the exhaust, all the noise, all the extra energy usage. I bothers me too. But that's not enough reason for me to slog it out with something that doesn't work well.

  1. I must admit, I do not like to give negative reviews but I feel I need to let you all know about this unit. I just returned my second one back to Amazon and sticking to the wired unit. This unit looks great at first and is light and charges fast. However, when it comes to actually doing work it falls way short. The major problems since to be in design to drivetrain. Both units were put through their paces by cutting some overground grass and both units ended up gettig stripped.

After I return the units, I used my electric trimmer and within seconds all the grass was gone.

So all, buyer beware on this one.

  2. I have used this trimmer and it is great for houses. It cuts good enough in tall thick grass to do the job. It is lightweight and feeds line by itself. Two great things in my mind. I have used gas and the cheaper corded versions. This trimmer beats them both overall. The cost through Amazon was great. Thanks

  3. I'm a 62-year old widow that has a lot of grass to cut and trim. After nearly breaking my nose last year when my hand slipped from the pull rope on a gas trimmer I decided I needed something to make my job easier (and safer). This was just the thing! Nice and simple to use, much quieter, battery life is good plus there is always a spare, it's lightweight and easy to carry around, and no GAS and NO ROPE TO PULL!

  4. I really like this unit. I use one battery for my front yard and one battery for the back. Works great. My only gripe is that it didn't come with the faster charger to start with. Black & Decker FSMVC 9.6-Volt to 18-Volt 90 Minute Slide Style Battery ChargerThe charger it comes with is slow, but B&D sells one that charges in a couple hours.

I have had corded trimmers in the past but I hated messing with the cord. I have also had gas trimmers but I hated having gas sitting around all the time. I also hated having to pull and pull on my gas trimmer and the stink of exhust fumes from the gas trimmer.

This unit is a lot quieter than a gas trimmer too. The batteries switch out with other tools so I am sure I will be buying more B&D products in the future.

I also bought the Remington Cordess Mower Remington PowerMower 17-Inch 60-Volt Cordless/Corded Electric Combination Lawn Mower #MPS6017A. Now I don't have any gas cans in my shed anymore and my yard is totally ELECTRIC!

  5. I bought the 18V trimmer. I love the idea of being cordless. It is light and easy to handle. It comes with two batteries which is great because you can interchange them with their other 18V tools. I also have the leaf blower. The tools are great if you have a small yard. If you had to do a huge amount of trimming you would run out of power. I find the only draw back is the batteries do not hold a charge for a long period of time. If you fully charge them and take them off the charger even overnight, you would have to charge it some more in the morning if you were going to use it.

  1. Last year, I had a problem with my neighbor's cats. They decided to use my backyard as their kitty litter box. I was picking up poop all summer and they destroyed my grass. Now, thanks to the Scarecrow, my grass is lush and beautiful. I will be able to use my backyard again. It is the best thing I could have purchased and does the job well!

  2. This product exceeded my expectations. Deer had been constantly invading my yard at nite time and eating the grass and plants. The Scarecrow has worked perfectly and scares the deer away. I ordered two additional Scarecrows to cover other parts of the yard. This product is a great value.

  3. Love this product - we have a dog that has been digging large holes in a sizable section of our lawn for two years - no matter what I did I couldn't deter him. Figured I had nothing to lose so I gave the Scarecrow a shot and, after just the first day of using this product our dog won't even go into that section of the yard. We now have a nice lawn without any holes. Highly recommended.

  4. I got the scarecrow for a massive neighborhood cat problem. (roughly 20 running around wild and the city will do nothing, but that is another story)

It works awesome! After a few days no cats coming through the area targeted and doing their thing. The crow can then be moved to a new area and the cats do not return to the old area.

I will put the negatives in here as well but, I love my crow so much they do not change my 5 star.

If it is set on much sensitivity at all, it will detect vehicles from an extreme distance, causing alot of false positives. This can easily be fixed by not aiming it towards roads.

The other is the fact that it will not differentiate between you and the disease and parasite infected cats. So if you use it in a human traffic area, expect to forget and get wet on occasion.

Almost forgot...You can take this as a negative or positive, your call. The neighbors dog found it, and fell in love. She could not get enough of "making the water happen". I don't think I have ever seen that dog so happy.

Love it, would have paid full retail for it, was very happen to get it from here for $59.99.

  5. This is the first deer repellant we've found that works! We've tried the scents, the soaps, and the sprays but nothing else has worked. For the first time since they were planted 3 years ago our snowball bushes actually have snowballs on them because the deer don't come around anymore. Even the squirrels have given up. The Scarecrow works!

  1. Amazon has really disappointed with me with how they handled this transaction of mine. On ordering this set of 12 bulbs, I was shipped only 1 bulb. On registering a complaint, I was assured of the correct delivery the second time. However, for the second time too, I was shipped a single bulb! When I again registered my complaint on phone, the customer service rep was extremely rude. I was told that Amazon can not do anything as it is shipper's fault! Well, as far as I can see, this is being sold and shipped by Amazon directly. I could vouch for Amazon's good customer service before this transaction but now I can only warn you to save your time by not ordering this bulb as most likely you will also get a single bulb delivered for 20 odd bucks!

  2. Purchasing these bulbs was among many things we're doing to be more energy efficient and 'green'. Even though these bulbs may not be so green. Overall, I'm please with them as a replacement. As with any fluorescent, there are some things to get used to.

    1) There's definitely a color difference. You do get used to it, but it's noticeable.
    2) When you turn them on, there's a short delay in getting any light and then a long delay to reach full brightness. Again, not that big of a deal, but it takes getting used to.
    3) We had intentions of replace all of our incandescent bulbs with these. However, their design makes them ugly when used with exposed light fixtures. We've taken advantage of the somewhat graceful look of incandescents. With these sticking out, there somewhat ugly.
    4) I love the fact that they're somewhat cooler, which makes it less dangerous when you have children.

I may not have bought the pack, if I hadn't gotten such a good deal. I'm please with the purchase and the differences are fairly easy to get used to. I would recommend for those that are interested in energy conservation and saving money!

  3. These arrived a couple of days ago, none broken. Each bulb was individual boxed inside a Sylvania carton, this inside an Amazon box with 1 other item I had ordered. I was surprised there was no other packing material, the normal bubble wrap was absent. The basic Sylvania packaging seems quite adaquate for shipping.

I'm new to flourescent bulbs. Not sure if I want to use them everywhere. I ordered these primarily to experiment with replacing the lights in a bathroom vanity light bar that seems to eat normal bulbs at a high rate.

So far I'm very pleased. These bulbs are quite compact while still putting out a nice amount of light. And of course the price is hard to beat.

  4. These bulbs work well, and I personally don't think the half second or so it takes for them to light up to be an issue. However, they are certainly not bright enough for my needs, and thus I find I need to use a halogen bulb in one lamp in a room I am in while also using one of the fluorescents in another lamp. Don't know if, energywise, this is defeating the purpose or not. Another issue - 10 out of the 12 bulbs shipped were smashed on delivery(Thank you, again, Amazon, for standing by what you sell and for the partial refund). I have ordered halogens many times through Amazon, and everything arrived intact. This is my second order of fluorescents through Amazon, and both times bulbs were broken. Amazon, and its dealers, need to pack these items better. But, I am not sorry I purchased these.

  5. I bought these for my grandparents after doing my whole house with them. They love them and the startup time really isn't an issue due to the fact that they usually leave their lights on all the time.

  1. Very happy with this product. It really tells you what each item in the home is costing on electricity and will help change behaviors.

  2. This item is great for figuring out what amount of power you are using in 1 hour or one day.
    Would recomend it to anyone.
    Well worth the money.

  3. It does exactly what it says it does. Very cool. But in all honesty, it is just a novelty for me. I know what it costs to make a slice of toast now! I don't think it actually caused us to change our behavior around any individual device, but it did show how some things were very expensive. I now have my PS/3 plugged into it pretty much full time so I can tell how much per month it is costing.

  4. Pros: Works well, many readouts, very interesting to see what your home electric devices cost to run.

Cons: Display is hard to read. It could use a backlight and a battery backup. All data is lost if you lose power to your house.

  5. These are great tools for figuring out the actual energy used on any appliance in the house. This product arms you with knowledge you need to make smarter choices and lower your energy bill.. My intertainment system consumes 35 watts of power when it's turned off..!

5 comments about Scotts 20-Inch Push Reel Mower #2000-20.
  1. I'm totally into the whole "green" thing so I was anxious to chuck my gas mower for the old fashioned reel mower. The first time out was a little rough (actually I thought I was going to have a heartattack!). Every twig would cause me to stop and have to bend over and take the twig out. The second week was better. I love the quietness, I'm getting stronger, and getting exercise. If Americans had to use this on an average lawn, we'd all be slim! Anyway, I really do like this and I'm ready to put my gas mower onto Craigs list!

  2. I purchased this recently for a small lawn. But if the grass is even two inches high, the mower leaves uncut streaks requiring a second pass over these.

Consumer Reports recently commented on this power and said to give it a pass as it doesn't do a good job of cutting the grass.

    I'm rather disappointed.

  3. I wanted a "greener" way to mow the yard. After comparing electric and reel mowers, I opted to buy the Scott's Classic. When I opened the box I was pretty skeptical at how this thing was gonna cut my yard. The only two things I needed to do out of the box were to attach the handle and change the cutting depth. Both were simple. 30 minutes later I was cutting my yard. I have to admit, it's intoxicating to cut grass with this mower. No loud motor, no smelly fumes, no vibrations....just a nice quieter "whish" as the blades move. I was very surprised at how easy the mower was to push. It was actually easier than a heavier gas mower. One of the best features of this mower is how nice it manicures the grass. Golf course quality!!! WOW!
The only draw back to this mower is that you cannot let your grass get too high between mowings. Higher grass is harder to cut. It also has trouble with certain tall and thick weeds but I just pull them as I go. No biggie! I love this mower and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a greener approach to a beautiful yard.

  4. Prior to purchasing this reel mower I read all the reviews at the time and found most loved it and some found it to be a lot of work. I had also used similar reel mowers in the past and enjoyed them, no fuel to purchase much lower yearly maintenance, etc. It is of course a human powered mower with some natural resistance to get the blades going, but not hard or miserable by any stretch. Our lawn became smaller in the last year and I didn't want to use our power smoker of a gas mower any longer.

So, far (1 1/2 months) the mower works great, was easy to assemble, and is easy to adjust cutting height. This mower has one of the highest cut settings I could find to ensure good water retention in our lawn soil. Also the two rear wheels make turning easy and there was no adjustment necessary out of the box to have an even deck height.

On the downside only two things you can't muscle the mower into tight places that involve a twist the handle will twist a little as well. Second and of not much concern, if the lawn is cut when really tall there will be some areas that flatten out and don't get cut. So you'll have to take another pass, although I had to do this with the gas mower also. Some people in other reviews stated that not all blades were cut dead on even and flat, I don't live on a golf course so some irregularity is fine with me, it looks more natural, grass was never intended for yards in the first place.

  5. The cutting portion of the mower seems well built and solid. The handle and arms of the product are terribly weak. Why would any engineer design such a poor quality handle? The product is only as good as its weakest link and the handle scores a minus 2 and the mower scores a plus 4 giving a net score of plus 2.

This could be a great product with just a little more thought put into the design of the handle supports.
