4 comments about Instant Water Fountain - Drinking Water Hand Pump.
- The pump works well when the 5-gallon container is at least 40-50% full. When the level gets lower, it doesn't produce as much water with each press of the pump.
- After receiving this product ("Aloha" brand?) I turned around and ordered the Dolphin brand pump, paying 3 times more (counting shipping). I'm happy with the Dolphin pump. The one here is clearly a knock-off from a company in China using sub-grade materials. It is very flimsy and weak, one of the sections of the lower skirt fell off and it hasn't been mounted on a bottle yet. Out of the box the silicone seal was dirty and the plastic parts were scratched as though it had been used already. The Dolphin tubes are made of durable material (I think nylon) I recognize from my camping gear. This one is I think polypropylene. Don't waste your money, buy the name-brand pump made in Korea.
- It claims to seal and work for most all water bottle types, but my purchased 5 gallon water bottle is not a tight fit. It creates problems pumping the water. Next time I'd search for a better more adjustable fit for the mouth of the bottle.
- If you have ever done dry camping this is for you! This awesome little gadget just goes on virtually any large water bottle and you just pump out how ever much you need. No fuss, no muss and no spills!

5 comments about BERNZOMATIC ST900D 019527 Mini Torch.
- Unit is better than expected, the solder attachment is a pleasant surprise, in that it really works well. The valve right at the torch is easy to use.
- A good Value. I use mine in making jewelry. It could have a longer hose, but otherwise a sound investment.
- I braze using silver solder where my flame must confine itself to about a quarter inch diameter, or it damages the part. My effeciency has gone up from about 10% using a standard propane torch and tip to about 90% with this torch and tip. This product was perfect for my application, and saved me from having to buy a jewelers' torch with regulators at about 6 times the cost.
- I got this because I wanted more power than my small butane torches have. This is highly recommended on alot of jewelry sites so I got one.
While its a fine torch, its not any more powerful than my butane torches and thats a disappointment. I bought a regular torch and will be giving this away.
- Short version: The 3 tips provided last a maximum of 10 hours use and must be replaced. They are not sold individually, You must buy a "kit" with all 3 tips ($15 each). The kits are not sold most places that sell the torch. This is a throwaway tool that is not likely to last the 30 hours that your propane tank does....
Longer version:
This is my second Bernzomatic solder tool. The other was a small butane model whose filler receptacle failed. Sadly, Bernzomatic does nat provide any repair or replacement parts for this. So, when I saw the ST900D, I was not too sure about another Bernzomatic. But, given the features, the use of a user supplied propane take and interchangeable tips, I decided to go for it. When I got my torch from Amazon, I read the instruction booklet. I was surprised to see that the tips were stated to have a catalytic element that under optimal condition may last as much as 10 hours use. Since, they make a big deal about it going 30 hours on a single tank of gas, you might think it would be mentioned that your tips won't last that long. I assumed that I could buy a box of the solder tips... but no. The tips are only sold as a kit and that is if you can find it. The is no mention of any of this on the Bernzomatic website. I get the sense that Bernzomatic doesn't actually have any interest in supporting their products. Buy it, use it a few times, throw it away and buy another one. I will be looking for another supplier and may well send the ST900D back to Amazon.

5 comments about Black & Decker 9756 Dual Temperature Heat Gun.
- I used the heat gun to remove window tinting from my car windows and it worked great.
- Bought this item and within 10 minutes, toast. Returned and replaced the item thinking I had a lemon. Opened the new package, plugged in the unit and poof!
We don't see the forest through the trees. You get what you pay for. There has to be a really good reason why this tool is more expensive than some but cheaper than others. Maybe we're paying for a brand name to be stuck on a non-brand name quality item. Shame on you B & D. I don't care what brand you sell or under what brand you hide, You won't see any more of my money.
- I bought the B7D heat gun because I often re-shaft golf clubs. You can't use a hot flame such as a propane torch because it burns the surface of the club - mainly it's too hot. Epoxy melts far below the flame temperature.
This gun is perfect for this kind of work. I'm going to try it on tile work next.
- It does the work, i haven't used during long periods. The only drawback i see is that it does not include accesories for different airflows.
- I needed a heat gun for a small project. I went to my local hardware store but all they had was a Makita for big bucks. I didn't want to spend a lot of money since I only had a small job in mind.
This heat gun worked really well. I don't know how it would stand up to professional usage, but for occasional or small jobs, it's great.

4 comments about Hobart Handler 140 115-Volt 25-to-140 Amp Gas/Metal/Arc Single-Phase Wire Welding Package #500500.
- I bought this machine (Hobart Handler 140) more than a year ago and have put it through its paces. It comes with the regulator, switch and hose so you only need the tank. Of course you can use flux core without the tank. Remember that you can get away with welding stainless with Argon but Trimix or an Argon/CO2 mix it recommended. I already had a helmet etc. so another $120 for a new full R40 Argon tank and I was MIG welding aluminum.
This is a fully functional MIG welder that runs on 115V (20 amps) current. It is well made and I haven't had any problems with durability or malfunctions, it is quite reliable in that respect. It is quite portable and I like the safety switch which is only live when you're actually welding. I also called support once (about the liner) and they were prompt and helpful. It does have one tiny annoyance that the door latch is made of plastic and doesn't usually latch properly, but since the door hangs down when closed anyway, it really doesn't matter.
I've welded various thicknesses of mild steel, Stainless and Aluminum with it and, for the most part, it has performed as advertised. I've also used both the 1lb roles and the 10lb rolls. One tiny problem, the spring is a bit too long on the small rolls and you have to put the lock nut for them on backwards in order to get low enough friction if you're using aluminum wire.
The machine does indeed weld 3/16" steel in one pass if you go very slow and have a smooth technique. If you are looking for something to weld heavy steel often, get a stick welder for half the money, or move to a 220 machine that will run heavier wire. With respect to heavy steel, I wanted this machine just for occasional smaller welds and it delivers there. On light sheet, it is like a glue gun for metal and fully in its element. It comes with Miller type tips but I actually prefer the shorter, flat nosed, Lincoln tips (which fit perfectly) for steel.
I've also welded a lot of stainless in the 12-18 ga range with it and it has been great at that as well.
Welding aluminum with this machine, as with every MIG except a spool gun in this power range, is a tedious process. On thinner material, you need to be very fast and very smooth. On thicker material, it can be really good IF you have good karma, think happy thoughts and have everything right - see below. If you're buying it primarily to weld aluminum though - this is not the appropriate class of machine for you. Depending on what you want to do, look for a 220 machine with intelligent speed control, or a TIG, or even a henrob torch or Al "brazing" rods. No matter how good you are, it is a pain and you'll end up with at least a few bird's nests per project with this machine.
How to weld heavier aluminum with this machine.
1. use a .045 tip. The machine only takes .030 aluminum wire and they recommend a .035 tip for aluminum but it isn't big enough. You really need to move to the .045 tip for aluminum or you aren't going to weld more than a couple of minutes before you start a bird's nest factory. Tips are only about a buck a piece.
2. Keep the gun hose very straight, especially on the machine end. This is tedious and difficult sometimes but it makes a big difference.
3. Use 5 series wire (e.g. 5356 - app. $5/lb. from several online sources like weldingsupply) instead of the 4043
that you see at home depot or harbor freight. Especially at the highest amperage, the 4043 is virtually unuseable in this machine (at least without a lot of headaches), even with the nylon liner. One annoying thing is that the 5356 is harder to feed near the end of the role and will be more prone to kinking. The 5356 does seem to require a slight bit more heat so you need to always push the weld and go slow on thicker material - ideally with the material flat. This machine rates at 5-10 amps more than the other machines on the market (140 vs. 130-135). It doesn't sound like much of an advantage but I read elsewhere that you can't get penetration with the 5356 in 115V machines and that just isn't true with this machine. I have a 450 gal 1/8" aluminum hot tub to prove it.
4. Use a nylon liner if you plan to weld a lot of aluminum. They are $17-$25, mine is from Miller. Also make sure that it is perfectly cut and aligned to the drive wheel.
5. Make sure that the aluminum is very clean.
In general, it is a good machine with good support and versatility. In its niche, it is a very good choice in relation to the other brands. I don't give it all the stars really only because they should be a bit more up front in their advertising that while it does weld aluminum, the machine (like others in its class) really isn't a great choice for that.
- Great little welder, which I used primarily for autobody panels. Lots of heat, gas valve and regulators work well. Price was unbeatable when compared with a Lincoln or Miller available at big box stores. With free delivery what could be better?
- I love it. I've made very successful welds on 1/8" steel using .035 wire and 25/75 argon/co2 mix, 5/32" cast aluminum using .035 aluminum wire with 100% argon, (repaired Webber gas grill cover hinge that broke in a gale: Saved a pretty penny!), 24 gauge steel using .023" wire 25/75 argon/co2, and several other thicknesses of steel up to 5/32". Flux core wire works well too on 1/8" and thicker steel, but of course not as pretty a weld. Easy to set up, adjust, and learn to use. Have not yet exceeded the duty cycle or caused a circuit breaker to open. I have found that one of the keys is to look at the work from the side so the puddle is always visible. I use a self-darkening helmet: expensive, but I think worth it. My previous experience is with a torch and with 220v buzz box. The MIG makes strong welds in material 1/8" and thinner so much easier. Buy one and enjoy it.
- It has been over 10 years since I've welded. My first project with this welder was a complete exhuast system on my pickup. Easy as pie! I was used to using bigger 220V mig welders and was very impressed when I started using this little guy. Works like a charm. Plenty of power to weld thicker steel. Easy to use and set up.

5 comments about Milwaukee 8975-6 Dual Temperature Heat Gun, 11.6 Amp, 570/1000 Degree Fahrenheit.
- This is a super little gun. Quiet, powerful and gets the job done. Currently used to roast coffee, makes short work of 2 pounds of greens.
- This thing heats up in a second, and real hot too. We use it for shrinkwrapping bottles. Its working great so far, we've had it for a month now
- Did everything I needed. I use it to strip paint and varnish off of wooden doors. Had it on for hours, no problems.
- Bought this heat gun to remove and replace some old linoleum/vinyl floor tiles. The heat gun quickly loosened the adhesive and the tiles for easy removal. I recommend this product.
- The heat gun works great on shrink tubing. We repair trailer wiring and the heat gun is faster and much safer then using a torch.

5 comments about Propane 'Turbo Torch' - 3 Nozzles - Turbo-Blast Trigger - 60" Hose.
- I'm tellin ya, I was skeptical at first, when I purchased it, I was pleasently surpised when it arrived. It blow torched like mad.
- works great i found that it will blow it self out with the trigger but if you turn it up it is great i am in the driveway bizz and i think it is as good as some of my other torch's good buy for the money
- I bought this as a Christmas gift for my sister who lives in Maine and wanted it to melt ice on her patio bricks. They had iced up to the point that she couldn't open the fence gate or her utility shed door. She said it works great! Anther added benefit is to use it to kill weeds instead of weed killers which pets feet pick up and then they lick it off. The seller was very prompt and it arrived in good condition. My sister is happy with it.
- Ordered the subject weed burner. Received it on time but with absolutely no instructions for use! It has two valves for propane control, but no idea which one is for what. Not knowing how to control the flame created some scary moments! Send instructions, please!
- Needed a torch to kill weeds. This item was competitively priced and arrived promptly from etoolscity, well packed. As other reviewers have noted, there are absolutely no instructions. It is was not difficult to hook to my propane tank, but no instructions on lighting or adjusting the valve. The connection will only work with larger refillable propane tanks, like those that come with barbeque grills, which are not very portable. After playing with this for a few minutes and trying all the three nozzles, I was unable to keep the torch lit for more than a few seconds. There should be directions with this. Pay the extra amount to get one with an auto-lighter and some instructions, and a fitting that will accept smaller propane cylinders. This may be better for melting snow, etc. if you can keep it lit but I cannot recommend for spot control of weeds around the average home.

5 comments about HomeRight C800552 Heat Pro Deluxe 10-Piece Hot Air Tool Kit.
- I don't know the reliability track record for this brand (since I appear to be the first reviewer!), and can't yet say how this HomeRight C800552 Heat Pro Deluxe heat gun will hold up in long-term use for heavy-duty "construction" projects since I haven't yet used this item for such, but I've had this unit for about 3 months now with no problems.
Additionally, for occasional projects like heat-shrink tubing (medium heat), drying out the cell phone that got dropped in water (very gentle heat), it has some very nice features I wanted:
* What seems to me to be continuously-variable temperature settings: just rotate the dial to get the heat level for the job, no too-little/too-much as with some "digital step" units;
* the 1200 watts are claimed to take it from 140-1100 degrees F (60-590 C is marked on the dial), and the lowest setting is very gentle (which I found good for drying out delicate electronics);
* two air speeds (plus OFF; equivalent to some claims I saw for "three" air speeds);
* turns out to be reasonably quiet (quieter than a hair dryer and those big heavy-duty industrial heat guns with only one or two settings), and can support itself on a table pointing straight up (to free up your hands);
* a row of 6 nifty LED lights that indicate POWER ON plus 5 more that fade in one-by-one as the heat dial is cranked up to roughly indicate increasingly hotter settings (good for an at-a-glace safety reminder for when the unit is pointing up and the dial is on the bottom);
* accessories were included (no extra hunting/ordering hassles), although the hand tools are fairly light duty: concentrator, deflector, window-protector, and hook nozzles; all-purpose, triangular, combination, and heart-shaped scrapers;
* a carrying case.
The accessory nozzles would probably hold up OK for larger projects (since you're not supposed to put pressure on them), but you might find the rather light-duty hand scrapers suitable only for the occasional smaller project. But better hand scrapers are readily available at the stores -- it's the nozzles that fit your particular unit that are hard to find.
This HomeRight lacks, of course, the qualities of a professional high-end heat gun like the better Steinel models that feature laboratory-grade thermocouple feedback control, LCD temperature readout, automatic cool-down cycle, etc., but when you pay in the neighborhood of two hundred dollars for such a unit you should expect better quality. Actually I was expecting accessories to be included at such prices, but those are additional and also rather pricey.
Looking down the nose of this unit it appears to have a ceramic form on which the heating wire is wrapped, which may (or may not) be better than units which sport two crossed sheets of mica which I've seen in a lot of short-lived hair dryers.
Some of the, uh, let's just say "recreational smokers" that use heat guns for their vaporization/volatilization/hot-gas-extraction "aromatherapy" or "phyto-inhalation hobby" need certain features that this unit might not offer, such as "ceramic block encapsulated" heating elements (so as to not get mica or metals in the air stream) and more-closely-regulated thermostatic temperature control. Such "hobbyists" should probably look elsewhere to the Bosch/Makita/Steinel/Sears-Craftsman-by-Steinel class models.
However, since I'm not really an everyday professional painter/plumber/woodworker/etc. (or even an avid do-it-yourself hobbyist for that matter), I finally convinced myself that although I could imagine doing all sorts of heat-gun projects around the house, calming down and scaling back in price to something potentially less durable would be OK for me.
That then left the issue of finding a unit with useful accessories easily available. Many of the modestly-priced units in the local retail hardware and construction stores (Lowes, Home Depot) were not-so-bad (say, the Wagoner Digital Heat Gun), but lacked a set of accompanying nozzles stocked at the store, thus driving up the overall cost.
Then I found this HomeRight unit at a local Sears store in the paint department, kinda far away from their other models in the tool department, only to find out later that I could have purchased it for even less, delivered to my door, here at Amazon!
Bottom line? If you are a pro or semi-pro user, you could take a chance and buy up to 4 or 5 of these units for the price of some of the others, and thus have backups on hand (until you decide to get a professional model), or perhaps let other folks help speed up your project until one breaks and then you'd still have at least one working one with some warning time to get a replacement.
So, for an occasional-use person like me I think it's great since it's reasonably powerful, handles nicely, is reasonably quiet, is nicely equipped, has that simple-to-adjust continuously variable heat setting, is holding up so far (I haven't accidently dropped it yet), and at this price you can try it and still have money left over to buy another brand if it doesn't meet your needs. I don't see how you can lose!
- it is of top quality for it's value, as compared to the other brand name heat guns
- I bought the HomeRight heat gun based on another customer's very detailed review.
Quality was surprisingly good for the price, and it came with attachments and a sturdy plastic carrying case.
The variable heat control settings, not found at this price range, really make the HomeRight heat gun versatile.
I've already reshaped a slightly dented rear plastic bumper on my SUV, saving myself a $1000 body repair job, and have done a few projects requiring heat shrink tubing.
Great deal for the price!
- Good quality with attachments for just about anything you need to do. I haven't used it for large project where heat gun would be worked for hours a day, but numerous small projects where gun was used for several minutes at a time, have been accomplished without a hick-up. Good value product, worth the money spent. As usual, AMazon service was great!
- I too purchased this product based on the other reviews. I bought it to remove paint on my home. Works as advertised. Great product! Great price!

5 comments about Drill Doctor DD750X Drill Bit Sharpener.
- The Drill Doctor is a very well designed tool for sharpening drill bits. I have used it on several bit sizes and have found it to be an excellent tool. I should have had one years ago. I highly recommend it.
- I was looking at the 500X and then Amazon put this on sale for $100 so I bought it. I watched the DVD and got out a couple of bits and started using it and it worked great. My only complaint is what has said before about this unit: The depth adjusting gauge does not have a locking mechanism so it wanders. This gauge sets the depth as you are placing the bit in the chuck. You then lock the bit and place the chuck in the sharpening opening. So the bit does not move due to the wandering depth gauge, but you do have to readjust it everytime you put in a new bit. This isn't bad if you are doing one or two bits at a time, but if you gather up a bunch to do it can ad a few seconds to each sharpening. The model 500 does not have this feature so it may be a better choice. In my case I couldn't pass up the "better" model for basically the same price. As I said at my first try I sharpened about 50 bits with no problems except adjusting the depth gauge each time.
- This tool is saving drill bits. I may never need to buy another drill bit again.
- Fast delivery.I am very pleased with this product.I felt as if the price was very reasonable compared to other sellers.In fact,ace hardware lost my business because they were $5 more than amazon.I recommended them to match your price but they refused and lost my business.Thanks again for such a wonderful product.
- I was a bit concerned when I ordered this as I've heard too many stories about things "seen on TV." What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. I sharpened some bits that seriously needed it, and they performed like new. Then I sharpened every bit I had, since I wasn't sure if they needed it or not, and I knew they were going to be "like new" when I was done. I put split points on some bits. In general I went crazy and offered the shop at my worksite (a large office building) the use of the machine.
Six months ago one of our office safes had a broken lock and the locksmith showed up and started to drill through the steel plate. I noticed a stack of carbide bits at his side and I offered the use of my Drill Doctor. He was aware of the product but hadn't used it. He was amazed how well the bits performed after I sharpened them. He had a 10x loupe with him and let me use it to work with the bits--I highly recommend keeping one of these near the Drill Doctor because it really did help me get the bits perfect. Instead of using 20 bits to drill through the safe we did it it 4, and it wasn't a question of the money. We did it in about an hour instead of the usual 4 hours because the Drill Doctor actually puts a sharper edge on carbide bits than you get from the factory--the reason is that almost all carbide bits are used to drill concrete rather than armor plating, and the sharpness of the bit is not as important when you drill concrete.
By the way, these devices were designed by a company that makes big-league professional sharpeners.
I recommend this without reserve.

5 comments about Flame Engineering 100,000 BTU Weed Dragon Garden Torch Kit #VT2-23C.
- This is a terrific "green" alternative to chemical weed-killers. Just pass the business end of this propane torch over the leaves of your weeds and they wilt within a few days. Some of your tougher weeds may take repeated applications.
It bears mentioning that if your weeds are in mulch, do this on a wet day and have a hose handy, just in case. I've set my mulch smoldering a couple of times. Also beware of any dry leaves you missed during Fall cleanup. They will make a merry blaze, too.
This is not only terrific for cleaning out the weeds sprouting up through cracks in the sidewalk or driveway, but also clearing out weedy spots against chain link fences.
Terrifically useful tool.
- I purchased another torch through Amazon. My original one lasted almost 20 years. I searched the local hardware stores, but they only had Chinese knockoffs. I use the torch to clean up weeds around patio stones, gardens, and along my rural driveway. The torch also works great for starting my Weber charcoal BBQ. You can avoid using the charcoal lighter fluid, PLUS it starts the coals quickly and cleanly.
The torch uses your own refillable 20 lb propane tank to save you money and waste. If you should need replacement O rings in the future, you can get them at your local propane or hardware store.
Support quality American made products. The job you save may be your own.
- Flame Engineering's Weed Dragon Garden Torck works as advertised. Does kill those weeds dead when nothing else would. We live on a river and try to keep use of chemicals down to a minimum as we want to keep the river free of pollutants and other harmfull matter.
- I purchased the 100,000 BTU Weed Dragon Torch for myself, and another for my brother who has a 100-acre farm. The torch is solidly constructed, lights easily, and puts out an intensely hot flame. Its uses are limited by one's imagination.
- This torch works great. I took a chance and ordered it hoping it wasn't imported and I was pleased to see both the torch and it's included flint igniter are made right here in America.
I was able to kill the weeds along 200' of sidewalk and stone wall in less than 1/2 hour. Results are as good as chemical herbicides, and you don't have the cramping hand ache from trying to spend that much time with a spray bottle. Works best if you flame weeds right after a rain, they are full of water and easier to kill and you start fewer fires around leaves or other debris.
Wilting weeds and stomping on the few small fires that start are much more fun than you might expect.
Of course it's an open flame, so engage your brain before waving it around. Properly adjusted the flame is hard to see in daylight, and heat can damage nearby plants that don't seem close enough to be harmed. A metal snow shovel is useful if you want to flame weeds around cultivated shrubs or plants. You can use the metal shovel to reliably shield desirable plants from the heat. Be aware that any paint on your shovel might not be there when you're done (and I wouldn't try it with a plastic shovel).
I'm pleased with this tool, and I'm sure it will do a good job getting the charcoal started in the barbeque and melting winter ice too.
How about it Amazon, can you try to include location of manufacture in more item descriptions? Many times I pass over a purchase because I don't want to end up with something made overseas and can't tell from the description.
