- Difficult to control in corners or on harsh angles.
Great on flat large surfaces where you don't angle the head.
- Will made but hard to use on ceilings but great on walls. I needed for ceilings so I was disppointed with the sanding pole.

- This sanding block doesn't have all the new bells and whistles. but it is still the best for hand sanding a flat or evenly curved surface. It is easy to hold and put pressure on when sanding. It allows you to use regular sheet sanding paper ripped into fourths (easily done on a sharp edge, just like ripping a regular sheet of paper), so you don't have to waste money on expensive specialty sanding papers that only fit one type of sander. The only downside with the block is that it takes some effort to load replacement sandpaper, but that doesn't have to be done all that frequently, as you can load about four sheets at a time and just rip off the used sheets as they are used up.
- What can I say about a sanding block that might be helpful? This age old design works well, and this model is nearly indestructable. The high quality rubber will last a lifetime,Comfortable to hold and use.The only problem I've had with it is the spikes that hold the paper, tend to rust. No big deal really I just cleaned em up and put a dash of (dri-cote) see (BOSTIK) and that was the end of that. The design is old but it's good so, dont be afraid it's money well spent. Now get out there and sand something smooth.
- The other reviews are correct - this is an old standby that still finds many uses in the shop. Mine happens to be a woodworking shop, so I use this block mainly to hand sand in areas where my power sanders cannot reach and also to lightly sand between clear finish coats. I have used this block with great results on many projects.
Now, having said that, changing paper on this sander is not as efficient as it could be. While you flex the lip on each end with one hand, you must slide the paper in with the other while keeping the paper straight and not puncturing your fingertips on the little nails that grip the paper... I have done it hundreds if not thousands of times successfully, but I gripe about it every time. For under 20 bucks there are other sanding blocks out there that supposedly solve this problem but I haven't tried them yet (such as the Preppin' Weapon).
This is a classic, but not perfect, product that still performs well.

- Unless you enjoy spending an hour cleaning up drywall dust after sanding a room, this product is for you. I was skeptical that it would actually catch the dust. I have a Ridgid 5 HP shop vac mind you, but this thing really works!! The time saved is well worth the $17. It's a little hard to get used to at first. Getting familiar with the hose hanging from the end is a little tough but within 15 minutes I had gotten the hang of it. You can adjust the suction so if it's clinging too hard to the wall, you can usually find a spot that's right. Awesome product, awesome price!
- Sander works well. Its fantastic to have a simple inexpensive tool that just does what its supposed to without needless fancy add-ons. With a bag inserted in my shop vac there is no dust at all. One problem was the static electricity while sanding. I wish there was a way to ground it. I used rubber gloves but that was awkward, and I still could feel shocks through my jeans. I would reccomend using it when the air humidity is higher than 60%.
- This is a good product, I would recommend to anyone doing small to medium sized jobs around the house. I had taken out an old gas fireplace insert and had to put up new drywall. I also put in brand new hardwood floors and did not want them covered in dust. I ordered this thing and there was literly no dust on the floor when I was done. The screen that comes with it isn't that great, I would recommend buying a pack of your own. I just hooked up to a normal ShopVac and it worked great. Don't forget to clean the filter out when your done or even during the job, it will get clogged up with all the fine dust.
- Works great. Almost no dust escapes. No complants or reservations. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Best of all, it's not made in China.
- I ordered the Hyde sander due to it's made in Canada and it had great reviews. The Ace hardware that was supposed to send the sander sent an inferior "made in China" el cheapo sander. I just used what was sent to get the job done but was not happy with the ol' switcheroo. This is the first time any thing I've ordered on Amazon was not what it was supposed to be. I blame the idiot at Ace Hardware who packed the item.

- Works just like they say it does. Dust-free sanding is the only way to go.
- This set-up is excellent, but I have never like sanding screens, so I took one of the perforated 9" discs that Ames sells for the big Porter Cable drywall sander and cut it down to fit on the pole sander. You leave the screen on and the hook and loop on the paper clings to the screen. You don't get a perfect fit because the disc is not big enough, but close. I e-mailed Ames to see it they would supply this paper cut for pole sanders, so far no reply.
- i bought this product in the hopes that it would help sand all the walls in my house as we're in the process of skim coating. after using it a few times i think the product is just "okay". it tends to flip over quite easily when you're sanding and it doesn't really take off that much material.
for not much more money you can find a nice palm sander with dust pickup. i got a black and decker palm sander at target for around $35. that plus the higher variety of grit in sandpaper means you can attach some 60 grit to your palm sander and really level the surface out quickly. you can perforate the paper for dust pickup and it removes MUCH more material much faster than this pole sanding contraption did. the only downside of it, of course, is that you have to get on a ladder to get the tops of the walls.
i could see the dust dog being very useful for sanding down mud from taping, but for skim coating i didn't find it very useful at all.
- I'm supper pleased with my purchase. I was on the fence on this but the strong reviews and the fact it is made in Canada sold me on giving it a shot. Works great! The pole takes a bit to get used to but other than that it's a rocker. For the cost you'll be more than happy. Do it.
- I have used this while doing a kitchen renovation and it has worked very well. I think it is largely going to depend on whether the vacuum/ shopvac that you are using is strong enough and filtered well enough, but ours has worked great. Not really even any dust left on the wall. Any pole sander is a little unwieldy and the hose adds a bit of bulk, but it's been worth the very minor annoyance of dealing with the hose to not have to entomb the area you are working on in plastic & dropcloths. I'd highly recommend this product. I don't know how well it'd stand up in a professional application, but for the do it yourselfer with the occasional project, this is great. Well worth the money when you consider the time savings and the health benefits of not inhaling the dust.

5 comments about DEWALT DW4388 5-Inch Random Orbit Palm Sander Pad, Medium (Fits the DW421K and DW423K).
- FYI, just found out that the Dewalt 421 can use the Makita replacement pad (Makita 743051-7 5" Rubber Pad). The opposite isn't true-- Makita has a bearing that prevents the use of the Dewalt pad. Handy news if this product is out of stock.
- The orbital sanding disc replacement was easy to install and works as good as new.
- This product was purchased to replace the original that had finally wore out after 10 years. I look forward to at least 10 more years with the new purchase of this replacement pad.
- For this type of item, you'd think it would be easy to find at your local hardware store - not so! Amazon to the rescue... All I had to do was type in the model number of the tool I was looking to get replacement parts for and I was met with a number of great options. A fair price and fast shipping - all around good experience.
- Dewalt Replacement sannder pad fits and works perfectly. I thought the price was a bit high but other then that I am pleased.

5 comments about Magna MT800 Sand & Kleen Hand Sander System.
- This system is only good for small jobs or maybe 1 wall. If you need to finish a big job or 4 walls find something else. I only used it for about an hour and realised it would take days longer to get the job done in the basement. Even after adjusting the vacuum control several times the sanding was still quit tough due to the suction. Overall it actually does work and traps 95% of the dust.
- This product is pretty much a fantastic buy. It really does suck up AT LEAST 95% of the drywall dust. I'm not sure it would hold up to the riggers of a professional drywall contractor, but it's great for a home owner or anyone who only does occassional drywall work. The only complaint that I can come up with (and it's a bit nit-picky) is that the lid is real flimsy. For the nearly fifty bucks that we're paying, the manufacturer could have put a thicker lid on there without denting their bottom line; that is the only reason I didn't give the product a five star rating. All in all, I'm very glad that I bought this product as it has made a PITA job alot less painful.
- First off - you get what you pay for. But for $42 you can buy this unit, use it on one project, and put it on Craigslist and hopefully get some of you money back. The hose and bucket lid are flimsy but functional. I put the long hose on the lid and it's not coming off. Rub a little oil on the fitting before hand and maybe you'll have better luck. Don't press to hard or you'll push the fitting right through the lid! If you're an old guy like me you will have sore joints in minutes using the hand sander, you'd be much better off with a pole sander. I purchased a Ryobi variable speed orbital sander($39)and duct taped the hose to the outlet on the sander which worked pretty good but I did have some dust cleanup to do. Using the orbital sander I did a 24 X 14 room in a few hours. So the $85 I spent was well worth the savings in time and effort.
- I'm remodeling my living room which opens into the kitchen & dining rooms, as well as stairs to 2nd floor. I had used old bedsheets to close off all openings before sanding. I started sanding the room without the MT800 and after a short time dust was all over the house. I ordered the MT800 and received it the next day. I sanded the room twice more and had alomost no dust. This product was excellent. Recommend for any DIY'r.
- This product arrived as promised. This drywall hand sander works as promised. Nice & easy to use it. The only problem is that is was missing the 2ea adaptors. I called the company and they sent it in 5 days.
