  1. I had to change the blades after the first use, after that no big problems, I am a contractor so i do a lot of wood working good planer for the money .................. After my review grizzly co. personaly called me and told me new blades are on the way, I would recommend them to any one i give them 5 stars after customer service

  2. I was surprised with this product. I was expecting a low quality planer for the price; however this thing is awesome for the price. It operates with very little vibration, is quite, and has plenty of power. The only negatives are, the case is flimsy and doesn't really fit the planer well, and the fact that it is made in China which is something I guess I'm going to have to live with when it comes to power tools, still don't like it though.

  3. I bought my planer a few months ago. It's got plenty of power and has a nice feel to it when used. I feel like I have total control of the cut with it's precise adjustment knob. Like mentioned before, the collection bag is surprisingly efficient. I highly recommend this tool!

  4. My order was received as promised and arrived in good condition. This was a Christmas gift for my son. He is enjoying using it.

  5. I was very pleased with this unit overall. It runs quiet, and well. It seems to be made well and I was glad it came with extra blades, brushes, and a belt. The case is a little small but it's ok. I wish it used the larger planer blades instead of the mini ones but they seem to be ok. I have yet to be let down by a Grizzley product.

  1. Bought this to replace an aging 12" Jet planer. The Delta arrived very promptly from Amazon and in good shape. The infeed table and the outfeed roller both required adjustment to eliminate snipe. But once I had completed that task, there was absolutely no snipe on the first batch of pine I ran through it. It is a lot less noisy than my old Jet, but you'll still need hearing protection. I was feeding through three or four 2" wide boards at once and the rollers gripped well. Only once did I notice one of the boards slipping and had to provide an assist. The chip collector is a must. I hooked it up to my 1 HP Delta dust collector and filled up the lower bag in about 15 minutes. I have two, so alternating between them kept production going. Never had any clogs during 2 hours of planing. (Just a tip: I remove the "X" brace inside the dust pickup port on my dust collectors or they would clog with the volume of chips from the planer) The last pass on the "finish" setting speed produced a glassy smooth surface; little if any sanding will be needed before I stain the finished items. I am very pleased with the performance of this small machine. The zero blade guide is easy to use and the depth stop worked like a charm for repeatable cuts between runs. The cutter lock is easy to use. And the adjustable depth indicator ring on the top is really handy for controlling the amount of stock taken off between passes. Overall, I am totally pleased.

  2. I've used this planar for three years. It's trouble free, easy to change blades and produces a finish with an absolute mimimum of snipe (usually none)

  3. The planer I purchased in oct. 2007 is great. I like the feature compared to may old 12" delta planer the larger infeed and outfeed tables the on off switch, the thickness scale, the adjustable thickness stop. it's just great.

  4. I purchased this after many wood magazine reviews noted how excellent it was. I wanted the dewalt, but it was too much cash. I only use it occasionally, and would guess only 100 or so board feet have been through it. However, like many other reviewers, I have been having problems with the rollers slipping, and with the gear box malfunctioning. I cleaned the rollers, which has helped, but I can no longer get it into the finishing speed, and it is very difficult to keep it in the higher speed. I have to turn it off, and rotate the front roller by hand whilst pushing on the speed changer. This is not very easy on my stomach, as I am nearly finished with my training as a neurosurgeon. My father in law has the rigid planer (which was recently updated, and is a lot less expensive) and it has worked fine, and he treats it pretty roughly. Plus, his came with a stand, and a dust hood which I had to order separately.
Certainly, I would not purchase this again. If you want a benchtop model, get the rigid. Otherwise, I think stepping up to a floor model would be ideal

  5. I bought this one when amazon was having a 50% off on it. Setting it up is easy and the quality of the cuts is really good. I run mine on the highest quality all the time since it really does not take much longer and the resulting piece is almost as smooth as glass. So far I have tried it with cherry, walnut, maple, and wenge and have not been disappointed.
Make sure you get the dust collector adaptor and connect it to a dust collector otherwise you are going to have chips flying all over from the front and the back. I also bought for mine the Dewalt planer stand to be able to move it around my garage.

  1. I build furniture and cabinetry and this has been a great little planer. As the previous reviews state, it does indeed snipe, but until you move up to a nice industrial planer, this is inevidable. Just take into account that the planer snipes and plan for it. I plan on loosing 6'' off of each board (3'' each end). Yes, holding the stock up reduces it, but if you plane 6'' stock and rip it into 2'' pieces for facing, trimwork, or something along those lines, even the slightest difference in thickness can produce undesirable results. Before I started banking on losing the half-foot, it was very aggrivating running the freshly planed piece through the router for trim and when it came time to match up the miters, the results were disappointing at best. If it's just for appearances, the snipe is easily sanded out as long as you make sure you lift the stock to reduce the sniping action.
Other than that, this has been a very good purchase. Make sure you have either a big dust pan or large capacity dust collection of some sort because the amount of shavings produced is a lot more than what you might think.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this to my fellow carpenters. (unless of course you can afford the cost and space for one of the big industrail planers)

  2. I am very pleased with my Delta Benchtop Planer. It arrived in just 2 days from the date I ordered it, it is light enough to pickup and move around and its easy enough to operate and does a great job even on old, rough lumber.
    A great machine.

  3. I bought this planer from Amazon a few days ago and and used it for the first time today to plane some 1" x 7' red oak planks down to 3/4". As many others have noted, the snipe is pretty bad, but the solution is just to buy your lumber longer than needed (by about 8"). Other than that, it does a lovely job; clean, smooth and accurate. Since I knew about the snipe issue beforehand and was willing to accept the compromise in favor of affordability, I am very pleased.

BTW, if you don't have a dust collector, buy one if you're going to use a planer. Planing just four planks filled my Delta 50-760 collector's dust bag 1/3! If I'd used just a shop vac, I'd have had to empty it two or three times.

  4. A great planer/surfacer for the money. I wish that it had a better way to aim the shaving chute as it throws shavings all over the shop. Otherwise it is very useful and at the lowest price anywhere.

  5. Awesome!! Should have bought this a long time ago. Be sure to get the planer connect #50-359 and use with a shop-vac. Keeps the shavings at a minimum.

  1. I have seen some negative reviews on this product. I dont think they are deserving. For the price, this planer has worked very well. I plane very hard woods and have not had a problem yet. I take my time when planing so I do not wear out the blades too fast. For the home woodworker, I think it is a very good machine.

  2. Quality contractor/home shop planer. Even though it weighs in at 92lbs. I would still consider it portable for a framing/trim crew. A certain box store that begins with the letter L has them for $450 until 3/31/08.

    EDIT:
Lowe's has dropped their base price to $498 and the 17% off still applies until 3/31/08. Great planer for around $400.

  3. Just to update you all that the Dewalt 755 is still available at Lowes for $466 as of March 13th 2008.

Other retailers will probably match the price too as HD did for me today.

  4. I've used this for a few months now and have now run a lot of Poplar, Maple, Cherry, Oak and Pine through it, and have had no problems with the blades. I always use a wire brush on the wood before putting it through the planer like I learned in shop class years ago to remove any grit that would nick the blades.

As I am using this in a home shop, I can afford to take a little extra time and not take aggressive cuts with it to save a few minutes. I suspect that this has helped to extend the life of the blades.

The only complaints I have are that the packing does not do an adequate job of protecting the base casting which arrived with a small chip taken out of it due to shipping, and that the bracket for the outfeed table is poorly positioned such that one can not fold up that table and have it stay in place. I do not keep the dust collector permanently attached so I feel that I should be able to keep the outfeed table folded up without resorting to a bungee cord.

  5. I buy nominal cut lumber (mostly quarter sawn oak ) for my furniture building. The old Delta planer I was using was just not up to job. After reading all the reviews, pro and con, on Amazon as well as in many other woodworking publications, I decided on the Dewalt.
What a great machine! I built a simple infeed and outfeed table for it and have been amazed at the results. Although it has two speeds I have only found need for one. The oak comes out smooth as glass with hardly any need for sanding. Controls are easy to use and the automatic thickness gage is as accurate as can be. The waste chip blower is amazing. I hooked it up to my dust collection system and ran it without turning on the collector, It actually blew the chips thru 20 feet of 4" hose to the collector.
Could not be happier, this has made surfacing wood fun.

  1. Item works well for collecting chips, greatly reduces dust and is a great alternative to a dust collection system. I would suggest using a metal garbage can or a 55-gallon drum. Also, secure the hood with a band clamp or ratchet strap, the one provide is not quite strong enough.

  2. Used the DW735 without a collector when my shop vac died. Purchased this chip collector the next day after the mess I had to clean up. I bought a large trash can from local store and within 10 minutes, was planing with virtually no dust. Great improvement from trying to use a too small shop vac or certainly better than using nothing at all!!. Great quality, good price. Dewalt should make this accessory a part of a planer "kit". Unless you have a central dust control system, buy this product before the first board goes through the planer.

  3. I was not happy with Accessory kit for my planer. It did a terrible job. I ended up buying a bag from another manufacturer that attached to the hose. With this bag, I had more dust outside than inside the container that I was trying to put it into. Look for something else to work with your planer.

  4. I an not happy with this product. The concept is good, but the bag leaves much to be desired. The planer has more than enough air flow to get the chips to the can, but dust was all over the place. After seeing one of the other reviews with similar comments I will look for a new bag also.

  5. DEWALT DW7353 Chip Collection Accessory for DW735 Planer It works really great, I can use it in my shop, and not have chips all over. You really need to hang the hose as in the directions.
    I would reccommend it.

  1. This may be a very good planer in many respects but for me it is almost unbearable to use for one reason: it clogs up constantly. I cannot even think of using the bag but even with the chip exhaust wide open it clogs up in just a few seconds. I must stop after every pass and dig down in the opening to clear the chips and turn it on and off to clear it out. It takes me several minutes so that I can make another 5 second pass.
Since I see no one else with this complaint it makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong or if my model is defective. I would be glad to have any suggestions but until then: Bah,humbug.

  2. THIS PRODUCT WORKS PERFECT, COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH IT. THIS IS WORTH THE EXTRA THAT IT COST. NO SURPRISE, ALL BOSCH PRODUCTS SEEM TO WORK PERFECT.

  3. I bought the 240v version of this planer. It was nice while it worked. Now it's been almost three weeks and I'm still "waiting for parts". Nice planer, shocking support.

  4. The front and rear shoes are not on the same plane and the blades do not line up with either of them. If set at zero, the planer would remove material...but only on one side! I'm glad I read these reviews so I knew what to look out for when I purchased this soon to be returned item. If you decide to give this one a shot, take a straight edge to the bottom of this turd and hope its all on the same "plane".

  5. I'm a boat builder and had the precurser to this planer when I started my schooner many years ago. It went through thousands of feet of oak and mahogany bevel cuts and was a pleasure to use. My friends had the ubiquitous Makita planer and I was swayed to switch to it (after my Bosch was stolen) because you can mill down the cutting depth adjustment to get an 1/8" of cut, and the Makita is powerful enough to handle it.

The Makitas have one flaw that always bothered me though, they vibrate a lot, probably from the drum being out of balance. So when my Makita was stolen (if you've been around a while you know what I'm talking about) and I heard about this new Bosch I was all over it. It does not disappoint.

It's as smooth as silk. The beveling fence is for real too. The guy that invented the switch-over chip exhaust deserves a raise. No more chips in the face when you have to change direction to avoid a blow out. Double edged carbide insert blades. Isn't technology (occationaly) wonderful?

My only complaint is that with all the new power this puppy has the job is over before you've hardly had the chance to enjoy it.

Just don't steal mine! Go buy your own.

5 comments about DEWALT DW7351 Folding Table for DW735 Planer.
  1. The extensions really make the Dewalt portable planer a top-notch tool. I had tried roller stands for the in-feed and out-feed, but was never satisfied with the amount of snipe until I added these. My only complaint is I think they should come standard with the planer.

  2. Planer tables are high quality. I would suggest purchase with planer. Easy to install. Good support. Glad I purchased them.

  3. They install easily and significantly reduce snipe. They are an essential upgrade to the DW735 planer and should really be part of the basic package.

The only negative I can think of is that the outfeed bracket on the DW735 should have been located a little farther out so that the outfeed table could remain folded up when not in use if a dust collector fitting is not permanently attached to the DW735. But as this is not the fault of the outfeed table, I did not gig the table for this.

  4. The DW735 Planer is a nice little machine. Though the machine is readily available the folding tables are a bit harder to find. One might look to an online source to locate them and perhaps some better knives. The machine probably should have come with the tables for the price...however, since they don't they are a worthy investment. (Giving your wood a much cleaner surface). I got a lot of my advice from reading reviews myself. Infact, I found the Planer itself for $100 cheaper at Lowe's, though I went to Home Depot for a price match. None of the Lumber, or hardware stores I found did carry the tables...for that stick with Amazon.

  5. Too often there is nothing presented to the purchaser of a new tool about available options as with the Folding Table extensions for the DW735. Folding up only works on Power Switch side as I have my dust collection hose permanently attached. Works well, will never take them off. Six inches longer for each table would also work well.

5 comments about DEWALT DW7350 Planer Stand with Integrated Mobile Base.
  1. Great piece of equipment. Easy to assemble. Supports planer very well. Very happy with purchase.

  2. I wanted a heavy-duty stand for my Ryobi AP-10 planer, and later for my new DeWalt DW735 planer, that would be rugged enough for planer operations yet portable enough so I can move it easily around my basement shop. The DeWalt DW7350 more than satisfied my requirements. I'm very pleased with the heavy-duty construction of the legs and cross pieces, and the wheels allow the unit to move only when I want it to. The top, while pre-drilled for the DeWalt planers, easily accommodated my Ryobi planer. All I needed to do was drill four holes and buy four inexpensive hex bolts.

The assembly time took me about 45 minutes and the instructions were simple and straight forward. Most importantly, all the small parts were in thick plastic bags so nothing could get lost.

A few weeks later, when I replaced my Ryobi with the DW735 planer, I just set the planer over the pre-drilled holes and used the attachment hardware that came included with the planer stand. Another plus which I neglected to mention earlier is that the planer stand includes a shelf that comes in very handy for storage.

I've always liked DeWalt products (along with those from Bosch & Porter-Cable) and have a variety of bright yellow tools in my workshop. All in all, the DeWalt planer stand is an excellent and especially well made unit. I would recommend this planer stand to anyone who needs a stable, portable, and trouble-free base for their planer or other bench-top tools.

  3. Even the instructions aren't that bad - at least they are in clear English. I just got the table today, but it seems very sturdy, rolls smoothly, and the parts fit perfectly. If you are putting one together, here are some corrections to the instructions.

    1) The packing list says the rubber feet come installed. They don't and you have to figure out how to install them yourself. No big deal once you realize that the parts are in one of the plastic bags and you don't have to go through customer service to get them.
    2) They say you need 13mm combination and socket wrenches. You want a 14mm combination and 13mm socket.
    3) Take a good look at the orientation of the pre-assembled base in the drawing. Without those feet, it's not obvious which way is up until you start installing the legs.
    4) The first time they mention washers (as opposed to lock washers) they really mean lock washers. Trust the part letters, not the text. Everywhere else it was correct.
    5) In several places the instructions describe a part as tubular when it is really an angle or "L" shape. It made me wonder if they changed the design to use cheaper but less rigid parts. Still, it seems plenty strong as is.
    6) I assembled everything except the lower shelf using the instructions without taking them out of the protective bag. Then it turned out that the shelf was described on a separate sheet which starts with something like "before installing the MDF top". Oops - fortunately, you can fit it in without removing the top.

Still 5 stars - if you can handle a planer you can handle a few instructions flaws. This base will make it possible to get full use from the planer in a shop where I can't afford the space for a permanent location. At one point I intended to keep the planer on a shelf when not in use, but when I realized the weight (almost 100 pounds) I knew that a rolling support was mandatory.

  4. Heed the advice of numerous other reviews and throw the instructions away! They were written by a technical writer who probably has a hard time with shoe laces. Some of the instructions are simply topologically impossible. Once you figure it out on you own, it goes together fairly quickly. Pieces are milled very accurately and nothing was missing from the hardware package. I might have designed the leg-base attachment differently to be a bit more substantial, but generally it's strong and moves easily around ths shop. But shame on DeWalt for not updating their instructions - a good writer could fix this in a couple hours, including detailed photos.

  5. The planer stand by Dewalt is high quality and well designed.
