-
I own a Harbor Freight 43430 spray gun that is only available with a 1.3mm nozzle. HF does not offer other nozzles for the 43430. I had heard that the HF gun was identical to the PC PSH1 gun. While I do not know if they are identical, the PC 2.2 nozzle fits the HF 43430 perfectly and allows me to spray thicker coatings that are difficult/impossible to spray with the 1.3mm nozzle that comes with the HF 43430.
- I purchased the PSH1 sprayer based on the positive reviews of others. They suggested a large nozzle and so I had to choose between the 2.0 and 2.2. I went with the larger and the results are good. I sprayed the interior walls with latex KILZ then two coats of exterior latex house paint. I thinned the primer and paint at 10% with water and no trouble with plugging or spattering, nice finish to treated plywood, OSB, and pine board. I used a Makita MAC 2400 compressor to supply the air. Very glad I bought the sprayer because it saved me hours of labor if I used a roller and brush.
- If you are spraying a latex product with an HVLP air sprayer, don't even bother with the 2.0mm nozzle kit - go straight to the 2.2mm Nozzle Kit. I have the Porter Cable HVLP air sprayer and I originally bought the 2.0mm nozzle and it would only work if I really watered down the paint. The problem with that is I hardly got any coverage and it was very runny.
So then I went with the 2.2mm Nozzle and I didn't have to thin the paint if I didn't want to. However, it did spray a little bit better when I added about 5-10% water and 10% Floetrol @ 45 PSI. The Floetrol will make the paint lay more evenly.
So if you need to spray latex paint, buy the 2.2mm Nozzle right away and you won't be disappointed.

- I was considering a purchase of the "silent" paint stripper, or whatever it's called. I thought the price for this was cheap enough for a trial before taking the plunge on something for $300+. I'm glad I did.
I'm restoring old double pane windows and the glazing putty is like granite. Because I am staining and painting the windows also, this works great and is fast. The old stain and paint bubbles up in seconds; hit it with a scraper and move on. The putty softens to a point where it's removable. You get the hang of holding it so that you aren't over heating the glass after a few broken panes. The only drawback is there is no on or off switch...if it's plugged in, it's on.
- I had never used a heat gun or anything like this and was surprised at how easy it was and how well it worked. It is actually a pretty simple mechanism - no on/off switch or heat settings, just plug it in and the element heats up - very similar to the older kitchen stove heating elements.
I used it to strip the bottom of my porch to bare wood. It was somewhat time consuming but makes the job very easy, especially considering the alternatives. Just hold the element over the spot and wait for the paint to begin to bubble - usually 5-10 seconds. As you begin to scrape you just move the scraper along behind the element. I got to where I could take off about 2-3 feet at a time. The directions said not to hold it against the wood but 1/4" from it but I consistently held it against the wood w/ no problems whatsoever.
For the price you can't beat it either. I have a neighbor who purchased the radiant bulb one that is around $300-400. I guess they are not as hot so there is less risk for fire and chemicals from the paint. However, that makes the job slower and the bulbs eventually burn out and there is the potential to break them. He told me the bulbs cost $100 to replace.
Excellent product at a reasobale price. A+++
- This Paint stripper is well worth the money. Works well and is very cheap compared to other products that do the same thing. It is light weight and easy to use.Warner 1,000-Watt Radiant Heat Paint Remover #382XXX
- I have not actually used it yet but have been reading up on what all it will do and how to use it. I am very excited about the possibilities. I can hardly wait to see how it works on stains. I have no doubt that it will remove paint in a flash and easier than working with harsh chemicals. I was totally sold on it and bought it without any special project coming up to use it on. But I know I will put it to good use in the near future.
- Just what I expected. I owned a version of this tool for 20 years and it gave reliable service. The wiring finally got damaged, so I was happy that I could find a new one in its place. Yes, you have to be careful, but a little common sense goes a long way. If the paint catches fire, blow it out. I get in a nice rhythm: count to 10 slowly and then scrape. Repeat. Its messy, but not so bad as that horrible chemical stuff that needs to be repeated several times. Oh, and don't forget to open a window if you are inside. The smell is pretty strong.

- This is a wonderful sprayer. I've used it to paint doors, an armoire, a dresser and a couple of tables. It puts on a smooth finish using latex paints if you thin the paint first. I cut mine by 25% with water. Keep a wet rag handy to wipe off any dried paint buildup from the paint supply tube tip. Build-up will reduce the amount of paint flow. I had my compressor set to 40 psi. Splattering is reduced by starting the spray away from the piece to be painted and then moving onto the painting surface. It doesn't splatter much if you thin the paint first. Splatter are clumps of paint sprayed out of the sprayer usually upon first pulling of the trigger. That's why you should first aim away from the work piece and then move onto it. I keep a small fine nap roller nearby to roll out the splatter if any should occur. Cleanup is a breeze. You can store paint in the jar. Just put a little layer of water on the top of the paint in the jar to keep it fresh, then put a lid on the jar. You can also put it in the refridgerator to store it for a little while. The one gasket that comes with it will eventually wear out. You can make another one easily out of cardboad, thick paper, or thin rubber. Don't expect to production paint or do really large jobs, but for small jobs it's great.
- I read all the raving reviews, and figured how wrong could it be? I already have a pancake compressor so the only expense would be the $40.00 from Amazon. The Critter is great. After playing a little bit with diluting some latex based primer with water, I sprayed away on various wood trim I was replacing outside on the house (mostly looking for an excuse to try it). Smooth, even painting after just a few minutes of fiddling with the pressure and the nozzle thing on the spray gun. Very well focused delivery and virtually no over spray. Cleaned up in no time, and then followed with the actual paint over the primed pieces. Also latex, also eye-balled dilution with some water. Only problem was the nozzle clogged up a little bit. Had to keep an eye on it for build up. (It was fairly warm that day, but I worked in the shade). Great piece of inexpensive highly functional equipment! Air usage must be very low because the 6 gallon pancake compressor didn't cycle on/off very much at all.
- This spray gun works just like a large version of an inexpensive air brush. The airstream blows over the top of a tube immersed in your finishing liquid (paint, varnish, etc.). The air flow over the tube causes a drop in air pressure at the top of the tube, drawing the liquid up the tube and into the airstream. I have used it for varnish and lacquer. It works. It will spray paint, etc. right out of the box, but creating an optimal spray pattern requires some adjustments. My observation is that it takes a lot of trial and error to get the right combination of air pressure (set by the compressor and regulator) and liquid flow (sort of adjusted by twisting the threaded brass nozzle at the top of the tube to place the orifice higher into the airstream). A third adjustment of the process available to Critter users is viscosity of the spray liquid, which can be altered by adding appropriate thinner. I am satisfied that it is easy to maintain and clean. I have the impression that there is a lot of spray "bounce" but I am comparing the transfer of the spray material to a professional Kremlin gun, which costs thousands of dollars. I had to replace the sealing ring between the mason jar and the spray head almost immediately, but I cut one out of synthetic rubber very easily and it works fine.
- I ordered this sprayer for a quick way to finish several jewelry boxes. The critter worked great after a little practice spraying water and adjusting air pressures. The critter sprayed shellac very even with no runs. Clean up was very easy. Very satisfied and boxes look great.
- I've been looking at this for over a year and made my purchase.Works great and saves me so much time finishing my projects.Very much needed, wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase.

5 comments about Porter-Cable Gravity Feed Spray Gun #PSH1.
- I returned the spray gun because of a defect. So, why the 5 stars? Well, I bought another one. I've read all the reviews here and learned a lot. The spray gun is of nice quality. The defect was that the trigger didn't press the air valve pin straight in. It gave the valve vertical motion, which made the valve hang up - giving it an erratic, jerky motion. Not only was it difficult to trigger, I assumed the valve would prematurely leak or fail.
So far, my only use has been to spray spar varnish on a exterior door. (horizontal, on sawhorses) . I had just read a book in which an expert stated that he had attempted to spray oil based varnish once, when he was young and stupid, and would never try it again. Being old and stupid, I used the 1.5 tip and thinned sparingly with a splash of thinner and a tablespoon or two of naphtha to a quart. I had to open the gun up fully - and it worked pretty well. Seeing the clear finish accumulate on the door was the problem: I'm using 66 year-old eyes here. I got a lot of pressure drop in 50' of air hose, and had to set my compressor regulator to deliver around 80 psi to the hose. I set the gun regulator to 35 or so. I was pleased with the results.
Other reviews have complained about the gun to air hose connection. Or, more specifically, the regulator to hose connection. It is 1/4 pipe thread - sort of. I got really lucky and noticed that a water supply hose worked perfectly as an extension hose. These may be referred to as compression fittings. The lucky part was noticing these at a Habitat for Humanity store for $1 each.
- I finally put the gun to task after begging for a day off from work. The sprayer made quick work of my patio cover rehab. Be sure to purchase the 2.2 mm nozzle kit, the 2.0 nozzle kit and the 20 oz. metal can. I used the 2.0 nozzle to prime and the 2.2 to spray quality oil-based high-gloss paint. (Minor clogging with the primer on the 2.0 nozzle-switch to the 2.2 nozzle halfway through the oil-based painting part with much better results). The sprayer performed extremely well. Be sure to dilute your liquid to recommended specifications. (Many reviews have advised quite well the dilution propotions for this gun.)
The downside is:
1. The manual sucks! Trial and error with lots of sheets of newspaper to practice on will help. Also, work on stuff that will not matter to acclimate your skill level. The manual is so bad that I learned to clean the gun the "old fashion way" i.e. common sense. I've been painting for 30+ years but finally took the plunge to a sprayer.
2. Did I say the manual sucks! Get a book from Taunton Press to really understand how to handle a sprayer.
I have finished natural wood projects by hand for 17+ years. Currently, I am finishing a maple mantel cap but will complete the project by hand until my confidence allows me to finish natural wood projects with this sprayer.
I was liberal with the five stars but still the manual sucks! Your results will be outstanding. It is a well-built, quality gun. Compressors are another story. I was running it on a pretty substantial 26 gallon compressor that ran the entire time I was spraying. My neighbors live close by, they didn't like me today. When I run nail guns on this compressor, it does not recycle nearly as bad.
If you are looking for a HVLP sprayer, this is it!
- in all, I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and performance of this tool. However, it has not been easy as a relative beginner with spray painting to learn how to use this particular tool. first of all, I cannot say enough about the quality of the construction of this tool: fine chrome on the outside and turned brass around the spray nozzle. The only thing which would help me to better rate the construction of this tool would be for porter-cable to include a case, which for an item of this quality I feel should be included.
I think however, a few cautionary notes would be helpful to you if you are considering adopting this gun for new spraying project. first of all this gun is difficult to clean. They do include a nice brush made with the correct dimensions that works very well to clean this gun but still, there is a large amount of cleaning that has to happen on the many multifaceted and intricate surfaces inside the gun. Since I don't use a tool like this regularly I am not sure what the standard of cleanliness is and I spend a long amount of time after each use bringing the gun back to its original condition, perhaps this is not necessary but it considerably adds to the time required to use this tool.
Make sure to keep paint from drying on the air inlet attached paint bucket. Over time I've cleaned out every part of the gun except for the top of the paint can which collected enough paint inside it to block any incoming air. This created a large problem when I tried to use the tool in that I was not able to get any paint to come out of the gun and so I increased the pressure and opened all the apertures only to find that I still was not able to get any paint out. I proceeded to water down the paint hoping to reduce its viscosity to no effect. I finally figured out that to make the gun work I needed to keep taking the lid off to let the pressure rebalance in the paint can. I was finally able to clean out the paint can in the gun worked perfectly. The most helpful advice I could give them is that it is important to clean out the surfaces that the gun uses such as the nozzle and the top of the paint can while perhaps spending less time on cleaning the rest of the gun. However, as I said before this gun has not disappointed me in any way from its workmanship and is provided a great transitional tool for me to learn about paint spraying.
I also did not find the overspray from this gun to be that bad even though it just so happened that every time I worried about it I feel that I overcompensated with tape and drop cloths and whenever I didn't worry about it I inevitably hit something small that was very difficult to clean up. However, the overspray from this gun has impressed me as being much less a worry that I previously thought.
- I build High End Custom furniture and apply a conversion varnish as a finish. Prior to using this gun, I had been using my old gravity feed Binks that I had painted cars with. There is less over-spray with the Porter Cable and certainly easier to clean. I thought that I would hate the idea of a plastic cup, but even after allowing the varnish to set-up like a rock, the cup blows clean with air pressure. The fit and finish of the gun is outstanding, and with different needles and nozzles available, its a dream. I'm buying a second to dedicate it for latex painting.
- This is an excellent gun. Very adjustable in terms of air flow, fluid feed and spray distribution. Very easy to use, and spray on finishes come out excellent.
Very easy to clean.
Worth every penny. You will find some inexpensive HVLP guns that do not spray as well and are much harder to clean.

- I strongly suggest that you buy this flexible hose to use with your FUJI sprayer. It makes it much easier to get into tight spaces while spraying. Mine works really well.
- The flexible hose is a nice addition.
It is lightweight and flexible which not only allows you to reach difficult spots but also relief your muscles during long spraying session.
I would have given it a five starts if it was a tiny bit longer.
- I purchased this hose in conjunction with a spray unit. The lightweight and flexibility of the hose is definitely advantageous and allows the operator to move around easily. I have been very pleased with this product and recommend its purchase to anyone buying a spray unit.
- This is not a good product. The hose loses its spiral integrity by only stepping on it. The metal connect is cutting into the hose only after a few uses. This is a $7 china special.

5 comments about Black & Decker 2-Speed Powered Caulk Gun #CG100.
- This caulking gun is helpful for tendonitis. My husband is a glazier. He likes the idea but finds it difficult to "feel" the caulk. He cannot control the amount. Says he will keep it for quick small jobs, but cannot use it daily with his windows, etc.
- I decided to try a powered caulk gun because I just was not able to operate the old manual type and get a neat job. This unit is much easier to use but it does take some time to master it. It is not a powerhouse, being powered by batteries only, but it has adequate power to lay down a continuous bead of caulk. The trick is to learn the proper pressure to use on the trigger and getting in the correct position so you can see what you are doing. I am not able to compare this unit with any other powered unit since I have not used any others but it does beat the old manual typel.
- This is OK if you want to do some very light work. It does not have much power. Better products are available.
- I have never caulked anything. My husband does a horrible job caulking. I decided that I would have to take over this task. I researched and found this item and decided to try it based on previous reviews. It was fabulous!!! I just did my first caulking job and I am IMPRESSED!!! Maybe, just maybe, my husband could even do a good job with this tool!! I did invest in rechargeable batteries and would like a piece that extends the end for tight corners. I'm not sure they make such a thing, but I will look after I finish this review.
- I was a little concerned when one of the reviews suggested that it is not powerful enough for polyurethane caulk. I was thinking of returning the unit. But then I gave it a try anyway. To my surprise, it worked really well with the DAP polyurethane concrete and mortar filler. It is fun to see how uniform the caulk could be with the caulk gun.

5 comments about Wagner 1-Gallon Wallpaper Steamer #705.
- i had to remove a ton of really terrible wallpaper from a townhouse i just bought. The people who owned the place before me did weird stuff like papering over previous wallpaper, papering on top of thin paper backstock that had been pasted over semi gloss, etc. No rhyme or reason to how they did it - but this steamer took care of pretty much everything i had in the place. For more difficult layered paper, i sometimes had to steam off each layer (using the machine along with a paper tiger) but once i got the hang of it, the stuff came down pretty well - so well, my paint contractor told me i did a very good job of stripping the paper and prepping the walls (and this guy has seen it all), which i did to cut down on the expense of having to pay people to do this otherwise tedious task. The steamer takes 20 min or so to boil/steam once you plug it in (so i spent the time doing other prep work) but once steaming, it ran for around 70 min or so on one filling - enough to definitely make significant progress in each room. Renovating any house/townhouse WILL be a money pit, but there's NO QUESTION in my mind that this may be the best $50 or so i spent on this whole project. i have no idea how i would've gotten the stuff down otherwise (in relatively clean fashion).
- This product is really great as an improvement over using liquid gels or solutions to remove wallpaper.
We did three walls with this in the time we did 1/2 wall using liquid removers.
You can't go wrong using this wallpaper remover.
- After trying the gel stripper in one room there was no way I was ever going to use that method EVER again. I purchased this little steamer and the next room I tackled was super easy and went quickly. I scored the wallpaper with a utility knife and started steaming. There was no mess like there was with the gel and it left the walls in much better shape to prep for paint. ONE WORD OF CAUTION...Be sure to check your extension cord for the proper size indicated in the steamer instruction booklet. I used an orange outdoor cord but it wasn't the correct size and I ended up frying the power cord to the steamer and had to call Wagner to replace it, which they did. The steamer gets very hot during use and will actually weld the power cord to your extension cord if the proper size is not used.
- I had been fighting with removing wallpaper in my home for 3 months. Ordered this in desperation and it has been a life saver! I just wish it had an optional smaller plate to get into tighter spots.
- If you have a home project that involves stripping wallpaper, this is just what you need! It is easy to use, effective, and relatively inexpensive. It won't stand up to heavy use, though. Our first unit broke down after being used weekly (mostly on Fridays/ Saturdays) seven months after we got it. We bought another one after trying to get the first one repaired under warranty-- that's been nearly impossible.

5 comments about Reconditioned Wagner Spray Tech 2,750 PSI Paint Crew Sprayer #0515000T.
- This sprayer works great, I was a little hesitant because of other wagner products ive used, but this one works great, I have been painting the outside of large buildings and this works great it goes by so fast. It would be nice if the hopper was bigger because it goes through paint fast so you gotta fill it a lot. Clean up is pretty easy takes about 10-15mins but this is a Great Sprayer I already have a list of people who want to borrow it.
- OK to use but it takes a long time cleaning it up and also it leaves about 1/2 gallon of paint in the hopper. Also it uses alot of paint when spraying.
- Just remember to add a little water to your paint so it doesn't clog. Also, make sure you keep moving the head or you'll get runs in the wall. I painted several rooms in record time. Remember that overspray will get everywhere so make sure you mask everything. We were lucky because the rooms were empty and we were changing out the carpet. I also bought the attachment that lets you swivel the spray head. This makes life easier. I also didn't think the cleanup was too bad. I ran water through the sprayer and then washed everything down. You should then use a liquid they sell for storage that you run through the unit.
- After reading several reviews for this factory reconditioned sprayer, I decided to buy one from Amazon. It looks just like a new one. With the Super Saver (free) shipping it arrived in less than a week. It works very well. So far I have painted a garage and a fence. The clean up takes lots of time however I'm sure it is the same for all sprayers of this type. Make sure you read the instructions very carefully. I think some of the negative reviews were from people that did not do that. I've shopped at Amazon before and have never been disappointed.
- I could not ask for anything more with this sprayer. I first started by taking all the doors in my house off into the garage and re-painted each one. I figure this was a good warm up to doing my whole house. It went very well. So I just completed spraying the entire exterior of my house, which was 20 gallons of paint. The sprayer never missed a beat. I used two different colors and moving from one color to the next was painless. In my experience you will get fast at the cleanup once you do it a couple of times and understand what is going on.

- Exactly as described. It works well, just slowly. Steaming takes a lot of time. Quick shipment and it all arrived safely. Easy to set up and use.
- I just received my Steam Cleaner today and already I'm impressed. It has far exceeded my expectations in just one day. I cleaned my SOFA, BATHROOM TILE, FORMICA and BBQ GRILLE. Seemed like I just couldn't stop once I got started. Haven't cleaned this much in one day in... well, I don't know when. I had thought about buying one of the more expensive ones but thought I would give this a try first. Boy, I'm sure glad I did. I couldn't believe how hot the steam gets. I do wish it had just a bit more power. Also, there seems to be a bit of water seepage from the nozzle, but not too bad. I also cleaned a few dirty spots on my carpet that I couldn't even get up with cleaner. You have to blot the moisture away with a clean cloth as you go, but it took out the stains without any scrubbing which has a tendency to damage your carpet. I can't wait to use it to detail my car. And my husband seems to always need my help cleaning his motorcycle, even though I refuse to ride it with him. None the less, can't wait to see what kind of damage I can do with my little yellow machine on those wheels. Also have some wallpaper to remove, which is primarily why I bought it in the first place. For the price, I think this little machine is worth the money.
- Great product. Same product as SteamFast and McCullough brand steams, though costs less. It does not have the triangular brush and instead has wallpaper remover. So far does great job of cleaning grout and upholstery and just as well as the Ladybug brand product my inlaws have. Only downside is you have to wait to cool it off before a refill, though reservoir has plenty of capacity for at least and hours worth of work...Overall great for the price.
- Bought the steamer for removing plastic coated wallpaper and it does a fantastic job. But it helps to perforate the wallpaper first with another tool. When I was struggling on removing some vinyl floor tiles with a hammer and chisel, decided to try the Wagner steamer. After holding the large wallpaper attachment over a tile for 30 seconds, I was able to literally lift the whole tile up with a scraper cause it melted the tile adhesive.
Wear gloves, the tiles are hot. I'll definitely recommend this steamer for many household cleaning tasks.
- Antique and furniture restoration, use to remove spline on pressed cane seats . Very effective and time saving.
