5 comments about Victorinox Swiss Army Swiss Champ Pocket Knife (Red).
  1. I carried a SwissChamp from junior high until I replaced it with the larger SwissChamp XLT, at least 10 years. In that time, I used my knife for just about everything. I used just about every tool on it, except the fish scaler. I even used the side of the knife as a hammer to drive a couple small nails! (It scarred up the plastic scales slightly, but didn't harm the knife otherwise.) These things can literally take a pounding!

  2. What's to say? It's a Swiss Army. Great product, with all the tools I like to have handy. I use at work along with my trade tools. It definitely comes in handy at home as well.

  3. It's true that this swiss army knife is large and a bit heavy, but I was amazed to see the number of different tools you can find in it! I really think that when you buy one of these, there's little else you'll need in terms of small tools. Very handy, I'm impressed!

  4. I wish that I could rate this product higher than 5 stars... I love it. The quality of the knife is superb... (above ANY other). Victorinox really knows what they're doing when the make tools. I don't know how I lived without this product before now. This is the best 50 dollars I have ever spent... seriously. My life is now complete. The only complaint is that I didn't get to open the package it came in with a swiss army knife. That is the last time I will ever use inferior tools. Thank you... wow, great price. Did I rob somebody?

  5. I'm not an outdoor survivalist or an elite eagle scout. I have two jobs and work 60 plus hours a week so much of my time is spent commuting. This is why I keep the knife in my car and I've found it to be very handy. Having a small compact swiss army knife that can help in a variety of circumstances is just what I was looking for and this knife didn't disappoint.

5 comments about Leatherman 81070003K Squirt S4 Powder Pink.
  1. When I bought this tool, I found out that it was the same price as the Micra. This tool is way better than the micra, because the scissors are a lot stronger and the overall product is more durable than the micra. I definatly think that this is better than the micra.

  2. The ability to open the knife blade without opening the handles was an improvement over the micra. However, the anodized aluminum wears poorly when in a pocket with keys and change. The perfect design would be the Squirt with a stainless steel handle option like the Micra, in my opinion. Nonetheless this is my pocket mini-tool of choice.

  3. I used both the Micra and the Squirt. Right now I have the Squirt attached to my keys for about 3 years and it is still going strong. I have the "S4" version with the scissors instead of pliers. When I saw that someone said the Micra was a better value, I had to come to the defense of the Squirt. Take it from someone who knows, the Squirt far surpasses the value of the Micra. I had gone through 2 Micras before I found the Squirt.

    --Scissors Spring--
Micra - After a month or two it was so gummed up that the scissors would stay shut and would not open on their own. This was the main reason I went through them so fast.
Squirt - Still springing after years, much more force behind this one.

    --Scissors Grip--
Micra - When doing some serious cutting (or using the pliers), the sharp metal frame and tools will start to slice into your hand.
Squirt - Thicker frame to house the tools on the outside lessens so it will not hurt your hand.

    --Paint--
Micra - Start to flake and chip off after a month or so. (If you had to get one, get the stainless steel finish)
Squirt - Storm gray paint has scratched off but no big flakes like the Micra. The paint is bound to go through some serious wear and tear when on a keychain so some scratches are to be expected.

    --Size--
    Micra - Small
    Squirt - Smaller

If you were thinking of getting the Micra, spend the extra 5 bucks and get a knife that is 5 times better.

  4. Love this little tool! Actually bought a second one when I lost it on a trip. Mini screwdrivers very handy, and love having scissors. Really you can't go wrong having one of these in your purse! Just remember to pack it in your suitcase and not go through security at the airport though! Also it's fun to get your boyfriend/husband one with the pliers for his keychain.

  5. My girlfriend loves it. I bought for her to keep in her purse. I have seen her use it a bunch of times. This thing is TINY. She has one of those little purses that barely fits her wallet and cell phone and this thing just slips right in there.

I haven't used it much, myself, but I played around with it and the quality lives up to the Leatherman name, to be expected. The scissors are sharp and it's easy to use.

  1. This Leatherman has all the essentials. I found it very useful in my everyday activities. I highly recommend it.

  2. This is an awesome buy. The Leatherman Blast is a sturdy tool and comfortable in the hand while using. This tool gets my top honours.

  3. The tool itself is very user friendly and has a comfortable grip. The sheath is worthless. I can't even get the tool inserted as the rivets block the leatherman from going all the way in. Since it is not leather, it will not stretch. I ended up throwing it away and using a different holder altogether. For the money spent, it should have had a decent sheath made out of leather like leatherman used to do.

  4. This is the third Leatherman product that I have owned and it is living up to the reputation and needs I expect out of this company. While some have talked about the leather case being too small, they are probably not familiar with the "technique" in which you have to slightly tilt the unit at an angle to get it to fit snugly into the case.
The only fault that I have found is the unlock mechanism is a little tighter than need be, but overall it doesn't detract from my satisfaction of this product.

  5. This Leatherman tool is fairly lightweight and compact but it sure does meet the reputation of a larger and heavier Leatherman. The quality of this Leatherman is excellent and I believe it will be durable and last for a long time.

  1. I bought this as a Gold Box Deal thinking I might not really need, but it has come in so handy so far. I am glad I got it ! Is indeed a gem for the price!

  2. This was my 1st Leatherman tool, got it for a Christmas present years ago & have always carried it on my "work" keys. It comes in handy here & there for minor things that come up during a regular day at work (I work in a school). I like it better than the mini Swiss Army knives I've had before because you don't have to worry about losing anything, I always seemed to lose the tweezers out of the Swiss Army knife. All the tools in this tool are really nice, good scissors & the knife blade holds a pretty good edge. If you're looking for a good little keychain that can help out here & there, go for the Micra.

  3. I bought this to put up as a christmas present or stocking stuffer but ended up opening it and using it myself. It's small size is perfect to put in my purse and I am amzed by how often I use it. Unlike the larger leatherman tools the main/middle tool is scisscors instead of pliers. I find I use the scissors constantly. The knife and screwdriver tools are also very handy.

  4. This is my second one. Its very compact and very useful. I don't want a large bulky multitool, so this is great. The knife blade is only 1.5 inches long, but its very sharp and it stays sharp. Overall, a very high quality product.

  5. I've got a full-size Leatherman that I take with me on planned trips, so I'm a big fan of the "got everything you need in one tool" approach to readiness. When I picked up the Micra via an Amazon Gold Box special, I had no idea just how much I'd be using this thing everyday.

It's small, but hefty, so my key chain is a lot more substantial than it used to be. However, having ready access to scissors, a blade, tweezers and (I didn't know I'd need it so much) the 4.5 inch ruler engraved on the outside has been a real convenience I didn't know I was missing.

The only downside? When traveling, I have to leave this thing at home so the TSA folks don't steal it away from me. I'd really appreciate having this thing with me on the road, but I don't want to have to check a bag to enable it.

  1. This slick little knife is the first thing that slides into my pocket in the morning. I've used these small Victorinox pocket knives for many years in various models. Every little tool has been used many times, except for possibly the tweezers. The little tooth pick is the handiest and easily solves the problem of a stringy meat sandwich or chicken. The scissors are very precise and great at cutting strings or other little jobs. This knife is not rugged enough for an outdoorsman, but is ideal for a "Man about Town" or a lady. The only complaint I would have is that the knife blade does not hold an edge as long as they did years ago. It needs frequent sharpening, which is done easily with a small whetstone. However, it's a useful, quality product, and I love them.

  2. Great little pocket knife, fits on my key ring and has already come in handy several times.

  3. I have had one of these on my key chain for over 15 years now; it's only been replaced 3 times and I use it almost daily. It comes with a removable plastic toothpick and tweezers. I love having a toothpick handy after eating out somewhere and the tweezers work very well. The tweezers do not have the strongest grip because they are very thin and therefore a bit flexible, but I have never had them fail to work and they have very sharp edges for getting out the finest hair and/or splinter.

The knife and fingernail file/screwdriver are obviously useful in many instances; the only problem I've ever had is that if you are trying to remove/loosen a very tight screw it might close on you if you press too hard. The implements do not 'lock' into place, so you have to use some caution.

The scissors were originally my primary reason for purchasing these and are fine enough to help trim your cuticles and strong enough for smaller cuts. They are definitely not super strong but definitely cut paper and thin plastic easily.

Overall, these are a terrific gift for just about anyone and a great purchase for yourself. I've seen them in the store for upwards of $14 but you can get these for less frequently on sale at Amazon.

  4. I love this little knife, so handy and small!

I have had many of this over the years, but eventually lose them or have them confiscated at the airport. lol

The blade is extremely sharp, the scissors are great and the nail file/ screw driver are very handy.

This is one of those, "never leave home without it" items!!!

  5. I work in the medical field and I carry this handy little knife in my work smock every day. I comes in so handy from cutting gauze, to opening up boxes, to getting slivers out with the tweezers. My co-workers laughed at me when I first started carrying it but amazingly enough they are always asking to borrow it. Buy one for your ladies because they will use it!

  1. Even better than my old classic Leatherman.
Improved design, easy access to blades and all tools lock solidly.
The pliers are even easy on your hands now.
    A super solid, strong tool.

Overall, impressive EVEN by Leatherman standards.
    Need I say more?

  2. much better than my mid-90s version which had to be completely opened to get to blades, the bladeson this one are on the outside

  3. I purchased the New Wave Multitool recently and have been very pleased with it. I really like that it has locks for all of the tools. I really had to struggle with going to this larger size tool because I had been carrying a Swiss Army knife for years. It had pliers as well, but they don't compare to the Wave! Also the difference in strength of the pliers as well as the strength and sharpness of the blades between the two is like night and day. I've already put a good inch long cut in my thumb with the knife blade of the Wave when I tried to open it. So my only warning would be to be extra careful when using the one-handed method to open the blade using the thumb hold provided. The mechanism is a little stiff at the moment and that probably caused me to use extra pressure and then my thump slipped off of the thumb hold. I also really like the feature of being able to switch around the screwdrivers from slotted to Phillips, thus providing two screwdrivers in one. If only they would provide a toothpick, tweezers and a pen then this knife would be awesome.

  4. I tried this one and the bigger version, of the two I liked the larger one better. I really did not like either due to feel and safety. With the tool out of the case and not in plier mode the knives can and have come out and can cut you. S.O.G. is the tool I now have two the smaller and p60. Bought the p60 on amazon and at a good price. love them. Safer and feels better in my hands.

Leatherman is becoming the comet of multitools, but they need to make some more improvements.

  5. I keep this all-round tool in the kitchen, so if I have a small repair to do, I needn't go down to the basement for the major tools.

  1. I purchased the Skeletool as a replacement for a Leatherman Kick I gave to my stepson, thinking it would be an improvement; however when I received it from Amazon, it was not exactly as I imagined. First, it is a little smaller than I thought it would be, about 4/5ths the size of the Kick, with proportionately smaller pliers and knife blade. It is a little lighter, but not much, and with all the nooks and crannies I kept looking for more tools. One feature I miss from the Kick is the ability to use the screwdriver with the handles closed. In the Skeletool one must extend the handle with the carabiner end out to use the bits. And speaking of those bits, they are rectangular in cross section. This is fine for the flat bits, but the Phillips bits don't look like they would work as well as a regular hexagonal bit. It is the first Leatherman tool I've had that I thought was more about form than function. It certainly looks cool, but just doesn't seem to have the substance to back it up.

  2. I love my skeletool. I recently moved and was so happy to have it for all the little things I was going to need to do like cut open boxes, fix broken things, unscrew doors and whatnot, and cutting and crimping wire to set up the home theatre. It's lighter than it looks, and I like to keep mine in my back pocket, wallet on the left, skeletool on the right clipped to the inside, and I really don't even notice it when I sit down which surprised me.

It's sturdier and stronger than it looks as well, and is ergonomically designed to fit in your hands better than the typical multi-tool. The knife can be pulled out one handed, and I love not having to use my fingernails to get the screwdriver out. Plus, the bottle opener (the carabiner clip holds onto the caps when they come off, a nice touch) came in handy after the moving was done (:

I had been waiting to get ahold of this tool for a long time, and it exceeded my high expectations. It innovates little things that have yet to be seen in Leatherman products so far that I know of, like how when you open it it "clicks" into place, the ergonomic "hull" for a better grip, how some tools are immediately accessible without having to dig around for them, and onboard storage of extra screwdriver bits.

I think it's perfect for people who want a multitool but don't actually need the 50 other things built into it most of the time. I also have a Leatherman Wave, but in the last two months I have yet to use it thanks to the utility and versitility of the skeletool.

  3. I really like the blade...it's a proper, stiff, knife with a good blade lock to keep it from closing on your fingers (unlike my Juice). The blade lock is reasonably easy to close (unlike my Gerber) so that you don't cut yourself wrestling with the lock.

The pliers are strong with good leverage. Can do work well beyond what the tool size would imply.

The screwdriver bits are a good idea IMO....

Overall highly recommended. Surpassed my expectation.

  4. The Leatherman Skeletool is a great multi-tool to have with you at all times. Lightweight, ergonomic, robust, and well engineered, all tools are quickly and easily accessed, including the locking knife blade. There's no need to open the whole thing everytime you need a tool. The pliers are precise and the grip surprisingly comfortable.

  5. I gave this as a gift to my cousin for his high school graduation. Because the product was delayed several times, he ended up getting it during his 2nd semester at college. He described it as the "manliest" knife he has ever had.

Lacks a few things that would make this the ultimate tool, but for most purposes it is very handy (wish it had a corkscrew and scissors).

  1. This is just like the one I had 20 years ago! Sturdy construction, very handy to have around and small enough to slip into your pants pocket. Hope it lasts as long as my last one did!

  2. I didn't know a knife can be made this small until I got the shipment. It is too small to be used to peel the apples. It ended up disappearing in my son's toy box.

I suggest you read the specification carefully before place an order.

  3. I have had one of these on my key chain for over 15 years now; it's only been replaced 3 times and I use it almost daily. It comes with a removable plastic toothpick and tweezers. 5. I thought this knife would be too small, but it's a perfect size for my keychain. I carry it with me everyday, I've dropped it a few times, but it is still works great - very durable. Strongly recommended.

  1. This set of tools seems even more comprehensive than hoped for. It is much lighter than the current set I am used to.

  2. This kit is an excellent accessory for a number of Leatherman tools. The one and only downside is that the kit is somewhat pricey. You are paying for the form and convenience of Leatherman's "new" bit design. That design is very compact and much more usable than the previous bits, which required a bulky adapter for most tools.

I bought the kit for use with the new Skeletool, which has two bits on board. I can swap them for the ones I need from the accessory kit. In addition, the bit kit comes with a nylon sheath, so you can easily carry all of the bits. I've found that I regularly use certain bits, so I put them on one of the plastic "cards" the bits are stored on, and that's all I carry.

The quality of the kit measures up to Leatherman standards. Everything Leatherman makes seems to be sculpted by an artist, and these bits are no exception. The steel is very high quality, and, so far, I haven't noticed any wear at all.

It's a pricey accessory, but one that I think is worth the cost. I'm happy I bought it, and I'd do so again.

  3. The screwdriver pieces that come with the Leatherman Tool itself get a lot of use, but this extra kit... I have not been able to find a use for it at all. I bought the Skeletool, which has a removeable belt clip on the side. The bit needed to remove and reattach/tighten the removable belt clip's attachment screw doesn't even come with this expanded set, so what good is a removeable belt clip if you can't even put it back on properly or keep it on tight using the tools they give you? Spend your money on something more useful.

  4. This is a "perfect fit" with the Leatherman knife. Great tool when you go on trip.

  5. This is a nice addition to my Leatherman Wave and Skeletool with a wide variety of bits. The nylon sheath comes in handy too.

    Thanks,
    Chris Cunningham

  1. I've used many multitools over the years and the skeletool is the ultimate! The built in carabeener / bottle opener is sturdy and useful - and the inclusion of equally prominent knife and pliers is the main reason i chose this model over others... add a competent screwdriver system and you have all you really need.

  2. I love the Skeletool. My previous leatherman was too big and bulky to carry in a pocket every day, but this one is perfect, and much more useful than just a knife.

  3. This is my first Leatherman, and I think I picked a winner. Small and light compared to the other Leathermans, and the only one other than the huge "Charge" series that has a 154CM blade. If you don't care about blade steel (I do), get the vanilla Skeletool with the non-serrated 420HC blade and save some $$. That's my only complaint: the CX is a bit pricey. But the tungsten coating and the strip of carbon fiber looks so cool! Having both a carabiner and pocket clip is a plus--there are times when it is easier to have it on a belt loop then in a pocket. Overall, a brilliant design, and...wait for it...it isn't made in China!

  4. I would love to help you to review my latest purchase from Amazon that I ordered at the beginning of April 2008. However I still have not yet received this product. I am extremely concerned espeically as I keep being asked by Amazon to leave feedback and give my comments based around my experience.
    Yours (still waiting)
    Debbie Eidsforth

  5. I've found this leatherman useful and well designed, but would recommend the stainless steel version instead. Only a small sliver of the CX is actually made of carbon fiber - the rest is just anodized steel!
