  1. Wondered if this caulking gun could be that much better than the cheap versions I've owned previously- without a doubt, it is. Solid construction, and control is precise. Have a lot of painting to do and this will make the job much easier.

  1. I do love this tool, but with some reservations! The 1/10th gun worked great for me, except for the higher cost of "tubes" VS the 30 ounce "tubes". The 1/10th gun is lighter to use, thus less tiring. You do take more time changing "spent" tubes, with the 1/10th gun. The 30 ounce gun had problems with the large "o-ringe" seal that kept twisting in, and loosing air pressure, cuasing construction delays, having to fix the ring, that I got so tired of fixing, that I just stopped using the 30 ounce gun. This was a shame since I paid for both, and now use the 1/10th gun, due to the above problem. The 30 ounce tubes are also cheaper, down the road. I also noted the pressure clamp on the air hose to come loose, and need clamping. I recommend the manufacturer look at the above complaint, on the clamp and 30 ounce tool. The 1/10th gun works great, and sure beats hand caulking.

  2. I am one of those people who are just plain bad at caulking, put on about half a tube, and then smear the excess on my pants leg. This product allows me to draw a perfect bead, thin or wide depending on who hard you squeeze the trigger. It's heavyer with the larger tubes but it works great for putting down construction adhesive to lay subflooring. If you have a compressor on the job you need this gun.

  3. I have this product and it is extremely overpriced
and poorly designed. Using the gun with the small
cartridge is OK with no problem but trying to use the
gun for the large cartridges is almost impossible!
In order to use a large cartridge you have to put the
cartridge in a tube and connect the tube to the gun.
This is done by compressing a hard rubber "O" ring and
here is the problem. Using all my strength I cannot
exert enough pressure to compress this "O" ring and assemble
the gun. Perhaps this is just the fault of the cartridge
but this should not happen. You cannot have a caulking gun
that will work only on certain cartridges.
It is better to have two guns (one for small cartridges
and another for the large catridges). For the price of this
gun you can purchase two guns. You just have to look around
spend some time. I returned this gun and now have two seperate
caulking guns that work great (and have money let over)!

  4. We use these at work to seal panels to airplanes. If you just squeeze and hold the trigger down you will make an awful mess. Pump the trigger a little at a time and this thing will sing (seal) for you. We use sealant 10 times more messy than rtv (caulk). so messes are ugly. If people hate this gun then they don't know how to use it properly.

  1. I had to write a review on this gun because it turns out to be the best caulk gun I have ever used. If you think all caulk guns are the same you are right. Most of them are crap. Except for this one, and maybe one other one that is imported from England and is very hard to find.

I've gone through dozens of caulk guns, with each one being less than satifactory and then breaking. They just don't do what they are supposed to do and they don't hold up to the abuse of every day use. Metal guns get bent, plastic ones crack, plunger mechanisms and triggers are poorly made etc.

For years I have wondered why nobody makes a decent caulk gun, it is such a simple device how can manufactures keep getting it wrong?

Well, they got it right on this gun. It must be in the spring mechanism because this baby is smooth. The trigger pulls easily even with heavy Butyl caulks, and it really does not drip. It guns very evenly and there is no problem laying a nice even bead without the globs you get from pulling the trigger again. It's made of a tough molded plastic and super light weight. So far been extremely durable too, I've dropped it off ladders several times and it still works fine. Loading and unloading a tube is a no fuss operation, which is one of my biggest peeves with other guns. There is no spring release button, you just pull back on the plunger to remove the tube.

For $13 bucks this is a winner. Buy this gun!

  2. I have had the $3.00 metal caulking guns and the rust, get dented and the tube seems to jamb or caulk keeps oozing out when I squeeze the trigger. They are functional but the ETS2000 overshadows these by a lot. I only have use for this quality of tool every so often so it will last a long long time. Many nice features and smooth action.

  3. Purchased this as a gift for my father who is retired and has mild arthritis. After receiving it, he spent the rest of Christmas day applying 8 tubes of caulk to every crack, crevice and narrow gap around the house, with no hand fatigue. His house is now much more energy efficient, although my mother probably won't be too happy in the spring when she finds the windows have been caulked shut.

Highly recommended, but I think it should be noted that moderation is key here...

  1. I use a lot of caulk in my job and have used all the various caulking guns that are out there. Every time I'd encounter a new, or even slightly modified style of gun I'd have to buy it. I was continually searching for a better gun because all the guns I've used sucked. I really had given up hope for ever finding a decent caulk gun. Then I came across this Ergo-Tech thing from Dripless Inc. Finally! A caulk gun that is almost a joy to use. (I say almost because, let's face it, there ain't much joy to be had in laying down a bead of caulk.)

I mainly use two types of sealants with this gun: Vulkem 116 and GE Contractors Silicone. This gun works great with both even though they are at opposite ends of the viscosity spectrum. Vulkem is very thick and can be tough to squeeze out especially on cold days. This gun's 18:1 work ratio and rubberized soft grip make it a breeze to expel even chilled Vulkem. On the other hand silicone can be too viscous and it's always eager to drip from the tube no matter what you do. But the Ergo-Tech's dripless feature really does work! You can lay down a line of silicone, release the trigger, and that's it. It stops! I was and still am impressed.

Other features that make this a great a caulk gun are the convenient ladder hook, it's light weight, and it's ability to disengage the dripless feature (because many jobs are easier and faster with the dripless thing turned off.) I know some people may shy away from a gun that has it's main body made of plastic. But let me tell you this is not cheap, thin, flimsy breakable plastic. This is rugged, thick, industrial type polymer material. Strong yet lightweight.

So far the only complaint I have about this product is the switch used to toggle between no-drip & drip modes doesn't snap into position firm enough. It tends to easily get bumped into the middle position between the two settings. Not really a big deal and it's something I can tolerate considering all the other pluses this item has going for it.

I can't comment on the clean out rod (poker) or the tip cutter because I don't use them. I have a separate poker rod in my toolbelt specifically for breaking the seal on new tubes of caulk and as for cutting the tip of a new tube, well, everyone knows you have to use a razor-knife to get a cleanly cut tip in the shape you need it.
