- I love Tommy Lee Jones, but this comedy with him is the best. I will
watch this movie again, and again.
- What was Tommy Lee thinking? This was probably one of the most awful things I've sat through in a while. And only because it was on TV and there was nothing to watch. It was just terribly stupid from beginning to end, completely full of every cliché you can think of. It was NOT funny, you can't even call this a mystery since we know who the bad guy is like ten minutes into the film. What is the point??
- What a great movie. It is funny, has action and keeps you guessing througout. Everyone will enjoy this super movie

- i enjoy amazon's rating system usually. every now and then though, an item that is truly bad gets nice/good reviews. i honestly do not understand how anyone could enjoy watching this movie. the plot is bad, the acting is worse, the laughs are boring, and it is all quite predictable. perhaps if you were a 12 year old. shame on Tommy Lee Jones for taking this role. if you like his acting, do yourself a favor and skip this garbage of a movie.
the fact that it has the same rating as Steven Soderberg's movie Traffic leaves me scratching my head.
- I like Tommy Lee Jones, I know the pundits panned the movie as poor, but I find it funny and serious parts. Being a Texas ranger (Jones) and having to protect college cheerleaders from a bad guy and pretending to be their coach is funny, but the girls and Jones come around to understand each other and the girls help save his daughter in the end shows that they are made of the right stuff.

5 comments about Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- This is a great movie for the lighthearted, cheesy, comedic angle. I prefer this type of thing to the TV series, which takes itself WAY to seriously. This movie is a great lighthearted laugh or two.
- If you're a fan of the tv show, you might be really disappointed in this one if you're looking for more of the same thing. The tone, pacing, and overall feel are very different.
The original movie is much more of a comedy and a bit of a silly one at that. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's much more for a fan of fun 80s movies thatn for the BTVS series. Some of the lines are very cheesy and haven't aged well, but the fun of the movie is still there. It's entertaining and can keep you in good spirits for nearly 2 hours.
Fun for fans of light comedy, not for the horror fanatic or diehard BTVS fan.
- As fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer the television series know, this movie from 1992 does not function as a prequel to the series. Creator Joss Whedon did write the script, but all the freshness and creativity was sucked out by the director, lines were read badly or completely misread, and the entire production team just didn't get what Whedon was trying to say. After this introduction, comparisons between the movie and the series will cease, but I just thought I should warn anyone who might be new to Joss Whedon's work that this movie is nothing like Joss's vision of Buffy. That can all be found in the TV series and, currently, the comics. But as for this movie...
One would think that this could be an adorable, cheesy movie. One would think the bittersweetness of a bad director messing up Joss Whedon's vision would fade once the film started. One would think that the movie might be so cheesy that it, like all of the corniest films, would be entertaining because of the overt cheesiness. But... no. The scenes that are supposed to be hilarious--the extra long death of Paul Reubens's character--was so awfully unfunny that I seriously debated turning off the movie, even though there was only ten minutes left. The scenes that are supposed to be dramatic--Buffy's "big win" at the end, as well as the major death scene--fell entirely flat, due to out of place dramatic pauses, bad readings of good lines, and the--sorry, all--bad acting of Kristy Swanson.
While the movie is devoid of quirk or real understanding of the feminist message Whedon wove into the script, it's not all bad. As a reviewer said, it did indeed pave the way for things to come, because without the movie, there would never have been the show. Also, Luke Perry gave a nice performance as Pike, and Hilary Swank's talent was able to shine through the badness of this movie, despite how small her role was. But aside from those actors, some gems in the script, and a hilariously random cameo from then no body Ben Affleck, this movie isn't worth seeing, no matter how much you love the REAL "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
3/10
- Very teen movie. Accurate valley girls, real air heads. Simple plot. Luke Perry's 4th movie before SNL. Hilary Swank's frist movie before they both did 90210. Don't expect much from this 1992 movie and you'll find it's a laugh riot. It's how the whole Buffyverse got started.
- I got this movie cause I saw the TV show and I wanted to see what the movie was like. This movie is not that great and if it were not for the TV series, it would probably fall off the face of the planet. Do yourself a favor and just try to rent it from somewhere.

5 comments about Fired Up (Unrated Version).
- "Fired Up" is a cheerleading comedy that stars Eric Christian Olsen as Nick Brady & Nicholas D' Agosto as Shawn Colfax as they play two very athletic "macho-wacho" football players who decide to skip football camp for a summer of paradise at a high school cheerleading camp.
After scoring chicks all year long, Nick (Olsen) & Shawn (D' Agosto) decide to skip football camp for the summer to join their high school cheerleaders for 3 wonderful weeks at cheerleading camp in order to score with more chicks. Once they arrive at camp, both guys are able to score with the majority of the girls there until Shawn eventually falls for the head cheerleader, Carly (Sarah Roemer).
While Shawn is trying to win the affection of Carly's from her undeserving current boyfriend, Rick (David Walton), Nick is trying his hardest to score with the head cheerleading coach Diora. During all this mess, the cheerleading team is trying to figure out how not to come in last place again. They soon figure out the only way to not come in last place anymore is to pull off the most difficult cheer move ever, "The Fountain Of Troy".
After the 3 weeks come to an end, Nick is ready to leave camp and go home but Shawn rather stay because he really wants to win not only the cheer competition but also Carly's love. Being the great friend he his, Nick decides to stay with Shawn at the camp.
As the movie comes to a close, Shawn gets the girl and the team is able to pull off "The Fountain Of Troy" which prohibits the them from coming in last place again (19th to be exact). Also, Nick is able to hook up with Diora so in the end everyone is happy.
Even though the movie is more on the corny and stupid side, "Fired Up" is a movie that is funny and worth a watch if comedy is your thing. I enjoy this movie very much and I definitely recommend this movie at the appropriate and reasonable price.
- If you're looking to raise your Intelligence Quotient a few points, you`re probably not going to want to devote much time to "Fired Up!" (if anything, you`re likely to LOSE a few points if you commit yourself to watching it). If, however, you're in the market for an endearingly mindless, good-natured sex romp, then you could do a whole lot worse than this low-budget teen-movie parody, written by Freedom Jones and directed by Will Gluck and featuring a cast of high-spirited youngsters who make up for in energy what they lack in marquee-name value.
Nicholas D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olsen play two high school football jocks who are clearly more concerned with scoring off the field than on. To that end, they sign up for a cheerleader camp where they'll have all the hot young babes they could possibly want just for the asking. Before you know it, however, along with perfecting their lifts and splits, the two horny lads have discovered a sensitive, caring side to their personalities that they never knew existed before.
There isn't much to be said about "Fired Up!" except that it manages to be racy without being raunchy, inane without being flat-out stupid. Indeed, in the final analysis, it's the open-hearted innocence and lack of smarm that make this one enjoyable.
- While there is nothing new about this predictable teen movie, the cast keeps it from becoming stale. This film has a lot of energy and while if is certainly a formula film, it does have its charm. Olsen is kind of like a hybrid of Jim Carrey and David Spade and the two romantic leads have good chemistry, but considering the genre this film is surprisingly restrained with very little raunchy humor or nudity! If you like 'Bring It On' you will probably get some laughs from this better than average teen movie.
- are you kidding .. it is what you think it would be .. sophmoric ..and that is what i paid for .. not too bad .. not too good ...
- Believe me when I saw the commercials for this film I was like "pass", but when it came out on dvd i saw it on netflix and was surprise how good and funny it was and it didn't look like one of those stupid low budget movies, fired up is simple two guys in high school go to cheerleading camp to hook up with as many girls as possible in what results to lots of jokes and crazy cheerleading and thats about it believe this is still a good movie to watch, you'll have fun with it till the very end.

- This is a really awesome funny movie! It's like Rob Schneider's version of 'Freaky Friday'! A popular girl who takes things for granted named Jessica steals some cursed earrings from a store in the mall while with her hot girl-friends. They go to a gas station that's being robbed by Clive Maxtone. Clive pretends to be the gas station employee. Somehow, she drops an earring and Clive finds it. The next day, Jessica finds out she's switched bodies with Clive. She tries to tell her best friend April about it, but she doesn't believe her at first. Throughout the movie, a lot of hilarious situations happen such as Jessica trying to use the restroom standing up, and getting her boyfriend to believe. Across town, Clive is in Jessica's body and taking advantage of the situation by becoming a stripper and making more money. Later, Jessica learns some valuable lessons. If you have a great sense of humor, you'll love THE HOT CHICK!!!
- if rob was a gay guy this is how he would be..lol..very very funny and very much a great gal pal..:)
- Whatever the message is in this movie, I still laugh every time I see it. After all, Adam Sandler is there wondering where to hide the weed. It is great performance by everybody.
- The Hot Chick has become my new favorite stuck-in-someone-else's-body film, usurping the formerly untopple-able All Of Me, from the 1980's, starring Steve Martin. While Martin's physical comedy far outstrips Rob Schneider's, Schneider brings a sweetness and believability to the screen, and as the movie progresses I grew very fond of him...er, her.
If you enter into the movie with a critical eye, you'll still come out impressed. Rachel McAdams and her movie friends give flawless performances. There isn't a false note played.
It's not just for teenagers. I'm over 50 and enjoyed it immensely. Do yourself a favor and watch this one just for fun.
- Do you want to know how awful this movie really is? Well, imagine a large pizza that's covered in dead crickets, dead earthworms, and dead centipedes. Then imagine rotten frog legs and some disgusting pig feces wrapped in a tortilla. And then imagine a carton of milk that's been expired since the summer of 2002. So now, It's dinnertime, and this is the main course. So what's the point of all this? Well, personally, this is how I felt like when I was watching this poor excuse for a comedy. It felt like the entire movie was feeding me nothing but s***! The jokes are stale, the teenage girls were annoying as hell, and Rob Schneider.....well, he should just stay away from comedy. Why? Because he sucks at it! I will admit, though, that there are far worse comedies than this, such as Freddie Got Fingered and The Master of Disguise. But this one, The Hot Chick, is just plain bad.

5 comments about I Love You, Beth Cooper.
- Clearly not as good as the book (then again, what is?), but it was entertaining for the film it was. The acting by supporting cast was subpar (not sure that a most likely-gay character named Rich Munsch -- Dick Munch -- was the right move), but leads Panettiere and Rust did a great job (Rust's comedic timing and physicality were right on). The best thing about the film was the final message conveyed: that no one can live up to our own standards and fantasies; that it's easier to love an expectation rather than reality. But the most heartwarming thing about this film is that Rust's Denis Cooverman loves her regardless, which is showcased so poignantly sweet in the final scene.
The soundtrack is awesome and I liked the open-ended ending which keeps a realistic tone to a film that otherwise isn't exactly realistic. Not worth buying but worth a rental.
- This is a remarkably stupid coming of age film that has many painful moments. The big negative in this film is Paul Rust, he looks 30. Seriously, he plays an 18 year old that looks 30. Guess how old Paul was when this film was released, 28! Spot on. The bright spot, oh Hayden Panettiere. Yes teenage boys will enjoy this film a lot. There are actually a number of funny jokes, just enough to gloss over the groan moments.
In many ways, if you've seen the trailer, you've seen the movie. Sadly the trailer pretty well tells the whole film.
Denis Cooverman (Paul Rust) was in love with Beth Cooper (Hayden Panettiere) since the seventh grade when he sat behind her. Get it, Cooper / Cooverman, alphabetical seating? There are several behind jokes. Denis the valedictorian tells his whole class how much he loves Beth. He also goes on to offend everyone else in his class. Then has a graduation party. Beth shows up and the night of mayhem is off and running.
I watched this movie with my 13 year old son. There were several cringe inducing moments, the condom conversation, the behind jokes, the language, the threesome joke with the Suzi-Q licking, and especially the geek moment of the party. My son thought the part was very sad funny. It was a wonderful moment to talk about how when people are nervous they say really stupid things, even if they don't mean them or really think them. It was sort of a nice father son moment. I also rated this movie just a bit better than if I'd watched this alone. The 13 year old did laugh fairly frequently.
The rating, this is a PG-13 film. The last few films I've seen with this rating seem to be pushing the envelope a lot (The Proposal (Single Disc Widescreen) - Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds nude scene). This is a fairly mature film. It probably would have been better full out R rating and just shown the parts it wanted to show. There's a lot of National Lampoon in this film. Yes there is a moment when Hayden is completely naked and there is a clear side view. The language is a bit rough, the f bomb never gets thrown, but there's a lot of other language. There's a lot of drinking going in the film. But no drug use! There's a ton of violence, and stupid violence at that. Bullies beat up the geeks pretty relentlessly. A huge number of shots between the legs.
If I could characterize this film, it's the Big Bang Theory meets National Lampoon's Dorm Daze, Booty Call, Pucked, or Spring Break (a good television program meets a very bad movie). Teenage boys will love this movie. Male Hayden Panettiere fans will love this movie. It's a silly movie.
- Title says it all. Weak, weak, weak. Plenty of good movies out there to watch....don't waste your time on this junk.
- I would purchase from this seller again based on the quality of teh product and that it arrived ahead of schedule.
- I watched this and it's a cute movie for teens, but if you are an adult you will be bored.

5 comments about A Face in the Crowd.
- Almost twenty years before Network lambasted television and its practices, Elia Kazan made this incendiary tale of a countrified drifter whose media rise creates a power mad monster. This monster, Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes is played by the normally lovable Andy Griffith in a bravura performance that rattles the screen. A terrific supporting cast lead by Patricia Neal, Walter Matthau, Anthony Franciosa and Lee Remick give balance to Griffith's top-heavy performance. This is a film gem many years ahead of its time and still as powerful today as when it came out.
Elia Kazan's filmography is amazing. It includes A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, East of Eden, Baby Doll, Gentleman's Agreement, America, America and A Face in the Crowd. This is an incredibly diverse list of superb movies.
- Even though I will never watch this movie again and probably will only recommend it to those who have seen almost everything and don't know what else to watch, I have to give this movie 5 stars, because there is nothing wrong with this movie. It is flawless. From acting, directing, writing...its flawless. The movie in itself is a morality tale, wove around a complex script. The moral is that a person needs to value and practice humility in their life, especially if you are a public figure. Also another premise is that if a person wants love they should be prepared to sincerely give it. There is something very Orson Wells about this film, watch this movie if you love great writing and acting. Ive coincidently seen 2 other movies by this director (On The Waterfront, Street Car Named Desire) and will now search for others to watch.
- Had more of the voting American public viewed this movie before the 2008 election, perhaps we wouldn't now be under the increasingly shrill and ineffective, megalomaniacal "leadership" of one Barack Hussein O-Bama-Lama-Ding-Dong.
- Like the roar of a lion or the maniacal laugh of thousands, Andy Griffith burst on the screen with a performance unmatched in the past 53 years. Using the direction of the infamous Elia Kazan, and words by Budd Schulberg, "A Face in the Crowd" transformed from a personal struggle with fame into a political statement of power. Since the birth of radio and television, or even before, the concept of celebrity followed side by side. This select 1% of the population was used to sell ads, promote products, and lastly, entertain the populous. Not much has changed as Hollywood has evolved; the wealthy still control and the audience still depend on their favorite voice to tell them what to get at the grocery store. The interesting point about this, explored deeply in Schulberg's script, is how quickly the mass audiences can casual drop one figure and follow anew. As one reads this review, the teens may have forgotten the Jonas Brothers and found a new follower, our Late Night hosts may all have new faces, and our "Avatar" may not be barreling through the theaters. Even as I write this, it feels stale. Surprisingly, watching "A Face in the Crowd" for the first time, there was a lack of preparedness for these points. One doesn't expect such a modern film found in 1957 (much less lead by the sheriff of Mayberry), but within the first twenty minutes, the average viewer will be surprised by what the screen allows. With bold direction, amazing acting, and valid, detailed points about our entertainment industry, "A Face in the Crowd" makes its mark in 1957 and remains valuable today in 2010 - one could even argue MORE valuable today.
While watching this film, there is one person that steals the screen in the opening minutes and never releases for a solid two hours. His name is Andy Griffith, and while he will always be known as the quintessential small town hero, his film debut proved his range went further. With a diabolical laugh, a country-boy appeal, and a voice that could swoon anyone within an earshot, he takes what should have been a role for a seasoned veteran, and creates this iconic role that, after watching the film, could only be done by Mayberry himself. From his introduction in a cell recovering from a drunken disorderly charge, he finds his escape in the form of Patricial Neal, who in turn, introduces Griffith to the world of radio; aka mass audiences. Using a form of trickery, Neal demonstrates Griffith's power and the world welcomes him (unsuspectingly) with open arms. The small town of Arkansas does anything he wants, but he doesn't stop there. By becoming our very first Howard Stern, he does what he wants and says anything at all - and becomes the infamous "Demigod in Denim". The shift in Griffith's character is subtle, yet somewhat planned. He portrays Lonesome Rhodes as a man inheriting luck, but the calculated look on his face indicates otherwise. That is the perplexity of Griffith, one believes that it is just him being himself, but he peppers within his lines these moments of unknown - where perhaps this was Rhodes' plan all along. Bridled next to both Neal, who adds a strong level of support, sexuality, and madness, and a youthful Walter Matthau who brings the final worded-axe down at the finale; it doesn't surprised the ability and range that Griffith had to accomplish. The acting in this film will not only surprise, but also impress. This is the type of quality that Hollywood could produce, yet rarely do we see.
Having just finished "Cabin in the Cotton", a film that used politics as a miscalculation to cinema, it was impressive to see Elia Kazan handle this issue with artistic talent as well as solid direction. Despite his dismay in Hollywood, his talent behind the camera glimmered in this feature as colors (blacks and whites) were bold, the symbolism was apparent, and the emotions were captured perfectly. He guided Neal through her tragic turn, while keeping Matthau solid as a rock throughout. He controlled Griffith, while allowing him to run throughout the scenes with ease. "Face in the Crowd" is a difficult film to direct, as there is both emotion and intent running rampant, but Kazan proves the he can handle Schulberg's words. There are scenes that just feel, and look, more modern than 1957. The one that immediately pops into mind is the montage surrounding Rhodes' introduction into Vitajex. The blend of animation, perverse snippets, and that disturbing laugh didn't feel old - it felt like a moment taken from 2010 (just in black and white). There are others like that scene throughout. The baton competition was one of the most intensely awkward scenes, as we knew what was happening, but didn't want to believe it. Again, modern ideas strewn throughout 1957, where the average '57 film felt didn't push the envelope - Kazan didn't care about the envelope.
Finally, Schulberg's script has to be one of the best Hollywood stories to come out of that town. The images of Griffith laughing stapled behind several TV antennae, just barely scares the average viewer. Schulberg, like Kazan, isn't afraid of his idea. He pushes from radio to television, an audience of one to millions upon millions, and finally guiding politicians into office. Does this feel like an old idea? The modern implications are outstanding. The language as well, coming from Griffith (who had to ad-lib some) is wildly entertaining, but subtly symbolic, and those final thoughts by Matthau require another viewing just to hear again. Everyone, from writing to direction to acting, gave "Face in the Crowd" more than 100% of their talent, and this critic believes that Griffith may have fallen into the Mayberry sinkhole too soon. If this was his ability, he was surely wasted in Hollywood.
VIDEO: Impressive throughout. The scenes were well focused, detailed and developed. Characters became iconic, giving some of the best lines from a motion picture. Flawless.
VISUAL: Watched on regular DVD, this film would benefit from a Blu-upgrade. Even without, the visuals were stark, clear, and vibrant. The use of multi-media to tell this story seemed futuristic of sorts. This was an amazing film to experience, but a bold film to watch.
SOUND: This had to be top-notch for the film to work. When Griffith yelled, we heard him; when he played his music, we heard him; whenever he spoke - yep, we heard him. That is the staple of this film, hearing Griffith's words - and we did - so the sound was perfect.
EXTRAS: The only area lacking. A short documentary that talks to the cast about the film, but that was it. Why isn't there a Criterion release of this film - it seems like one of the best films in the last 50 years from America. It beats "Network" by a long shot. I would have liked to see more, experience this film more with stronger features - but it allows me to upgrade my disc down the road.
Overall, wildly impressive. This has to be one of my favorite films watched this year and easily in my life-long Top Ten. Performances were immaculate, the direction was charged, and the words sparked controversy within the group as we discussed after our viewing. The use of media, sex, and power to create a man known only as Mr. Mayberry demonstrated a talent that went unused in Hollywood. Griffith demonstrated amazing talent, and I don't know if I could ever see him in anything else the same again. Bravo across the board, BRAVO!
Grade: ***** out of *****
- "A Face In The Crowd" was filmed in mid-fifties Arkansas and in many ways is a primer for "Mayberry RFD". Andy Griffith is featured in both this movie and in the beloved television series. The actual site location for "A Face In The Crowd" is Piggott located in northeast Arkansas. This movie utilizes a host of local Arkansans which typify mid-twentieth century rural Southerners living their lives in a small town setting. Local live radio broadcasting was of immense importance during this period. "A Face In The Crowd" delineates local radio broadcasting at its finest circa 1955 following intense on site research inside KDRS-AM Paragould, Arkansas. This unique one of a kind radio station's essence is captured in this movie along with life in its community! "A Face In The Crowd" is a must see for those who long for a more simple time when people were honest and life was uncomplicated.

5 comments about Bring It On (Widescreen Collector's Edition).
- Bring It On is a chick flick, that guys can enjoy. The hot chicks includeing Claire Kramer and Kristen make this movie. Not only that but it's funny as hell and has a great plot. First time director Peyton Reed handled the film very well and even though he didn't have another hit film until 2006's The Break Up this is still his best.
- this movie was actually pretty good. you would think a cheerleader movie would suck, well this movie proofs wrong. this movie was pretty good.
- I kind of love and hate Bring It On starring Kristen Dunst. Parts of this teen flick are clever and funny but after a few viewings of this film, you get pretty sick of all the cheerleading nonsense. Cute chick flick but fades with time, decide for yourself.
- I can picture "Bring It On" director Peyton Reed in high school. He was on the Audio Visual Squad, and when they were showing a film in class he would wheel in the 16mm projector. The cheerleaders would look right through him, like he didn't even exist. They only went out with the jocks on the football, basketball, or baseball teams. Someday, he told himself, I will be a film director, and then they will notice me. He began his familiar day dream that went something like this:
He was transferred from another school to one with horrible teams, but really hot cheerleaders. He was an outsider, a loner, who spent his time honing his electric guitar skills, and he could really rock out. His sister, also an outsider, spent her time honing her gymnastic skills. This school didn't even have a gymnastic program, so she had to join the cheerleading squad. Though he and his sister both shared a cynical attitude about cheerleading, she made friends with the head cheerleader and they had sleep overs. The head cheerleader's boyfriend was also a cheerleader, but he is now away at college. Maybe he was a little light in the loafers. Anyway, he is out of the picture. Since nature abhors a vacuum...
[At this point the film gets stuck and the hot projector lamp begins to melt the frame. Still caught up in his daydream, young Peyton can only stare at the melting film. A blonde cheerleader looks at him and thinks: "What a dork."]
When I saw Peyton Reed in the bonus material, I was struck by his resemblence to Jesse Bradford, who played Cliff in "Bring It On." Of course Bradford was better looking than Peyton Reed ever was, even in his prime, but he was what Peyton Reed might have looked like in his own fantasy. Cliff was clearly a wish fulfillment projection of the director's. The fact that the vintage rock band t-shirts that Cliff wore were all taken directly from the wardrobe of Peyton Reed is only further evidence. The whole "Bring It On" project is a ploy for Peyton to live out his cheerleader fixation through Cliff.
The Cheerleader Fantasy scenario is very potent. Just ask Charlie Sheen. It explains the bikini car wash scene where they are raising money to hire a choreographer, too. That was all a part of the day dream that Peyton Reed would slip into whenever he got the chance, the dream he has been chasing since high school...
But I don't begrudge him his dream. Most writers, musicians, or film makers are motivated by such delusions. Even athletes, I dare say, get into the game for similar reasons. The question is, how was Peyton Reed able to channel those fantasies into a successful film?
Here is how:
The characters of Cliff (Jesse Bradford) and Missy Pantone (Eliza Dushku) give us a hip and cynical point-of-view from which to observe the cheerleaders. We are all too cool to care about a bunch of cheerleaders, but secretly wish we could date them or be one. Cliff and Missy allow us to do that while still maintaining our distance. We can mock the cheer leaders, as Cliff and Missy do, but through Cliff we can date the head cheerleader, and through Missy, be a part of their clique.
------------------------
Whitney: [talking about Missy to Courtney] Excuse me, where did you park your Harley?
===============================
Though Courtney and Whitney try to discourage Missy from joining the squad, Torrance Shipman (Kirsten Dunst), the head cheerleader, is the only one whose opinion matters. Missy and Shipman bond, to the point of having sleep overs. Kirsten Dunst does a great job of making you care about her character. Though she is kind of obsessed with cheerleading, you still feel like she is not a bad person. She has compassion for others and tries to do the right thing. We are still cheering for the rich White cheerleaders, The Toros, even when it is revealed that Big Red, the former head cheerleader, had stolen their routines from an inner city squad from East Compton, the Clovers.
-----------------------------------
[Torrance is stressed after knowing they had stolen Clovers' routine]
Torrance Shipman: Do you know what this means? My entire cheerleading career has been a lie.
Missy: Well, look on the bright side - It's only cheerleading!
Torrance Shipman: I *am* only cheerleading.
===========================================
Gabrielle Union plays Isis, the head Clover, and three of the cheerleaders are in the group Blaque, who also perform on the soundtrack. The rap and hip hop elements really invigorate the Cheer genre. Even though The Toros, the mostly White cheerleading squad, stole their routines from The Clovers, "Bring It On" is slanted to favor The Toros. There are some barbs directed at the friends of Dorothy as well. But wait a minute, give "Bring It On" a chance to "Do The Right Thing." Before you judge its political correctness, watch until the end. You might be surprised.

Whitney: Oh, don't play dumb. We're better at it then you.

- I bought this because it was filmed in Tucson High School albeit years after I was a student there. But it shows the school and it really hasn't changed much over the years. The story was cute and the movie was entertaining even if a little far fetched. Geek turnes into a cool dude with a little help from the head cheerleader. If you want some feel-good light entertainment and like high school themed plots, then you will enjoy this one.
- The best movie ever... the movie arrived in the time said, but can always count on Amazon to live up to their word both in the vendors and in their website, they are awesome!!
- My daughter was looking everywhere for this dvd. I was so happy to find it on Amazon, it made a great Christmas gift
- There wil never be an era like the 80s ever again. And this movie seems to capture the era tremendously. There's nothing funnier than watching the "cool kids" pick on the nerdy kids in this movie. It was a simpler time in the 80s. The jocks had their own special hall. Now everything is all PC. I want to go back to the old days where the nerds wore glasses with tape on them and pants up to their necks, held up by suspenders. And well, I want to go to any place where they have a collection of women that look like the young ladies in this whopper of a film. That's not to say this movie is all about hot women. I mean, I have only seen the movie on TV so I can't really speak to the uncensored version. So for you pervs out there, there may more that I missed. In any case, let me get to the point. If you ever find yourself flipping channels on a lazy Saturday afternoon and happen to end up on the Oxygen channel, you won't regret it. The film has it all. The heart-warming moments where you really feel all mushy inside. The light-hearted moments that make you fall out of your chair. And the downright ridiculous moments that make you wonder,"There was a director who actually thought this scene was a good idea?" Ok kids, that is all. Watch this film on Oxygen channel or Lifetime or whatever channel it may come on.
- TIRED OF THE SAME OLD "NEW" MOVIES? TAKE A BLAST TO THE PAST OF YOUR MORE CAREFREE DAYS. CHEAPEST VACATION YOU WILL TAKE. YOUR CHILDREN WILL FIND THE CLOTHES AND HAIR HUMOROUS.

- I'm a horror fan and I thought I'd give Jennifer's body a try. I wasn't expecting much but what I got was far less. This movie is borderline incoherent at times and stupid from start to finish (I must admit I fast forwarded the last half hour). The worst part about it is not how dumb it is, but that it thinks it's so smart. You can tell that the screenwriter actually thought there was some legitimate social commentary going on here. The dialogue in this flick is some of the most idiotic I've ever encountered. It's cringe worthy at times and will insult your intelligence at every turn. Avoid at all costs. Utter crap.
- I've got a list of movies to watch for the 53 (to date) of my fellow Amazon Reviewers that gave Jennifer's Body 4 or 5 stars. Because if you gave Jennifer's Body 4 or 5 stars, there aren't enough stars for you to give the movies on my Amazon Listmania List of 19 Flicks Guaranteed To Leave A Permanent Impression (see link as the first comment to this review).
I mean really, 5 stars for Jennifer's Body? Teehee. That's a doozy! Jennifer's Body had a few good scares; it had some witty lines and dialogue. It even had Megan (what a) Fox. But overall it was just dumb. Director Karyn Kusama was able to put together some cool scenes and a potentially neat story. But her ability to weave it together in a believable way failed miserably. And I think Jennifer's Body was supposed to be funny--like dark comedy funny--at times, but that was lost on me too.
The flaws are just too plentiful to start listing in this story about a girl who becomes possessed after getting too close to a Satan worshipping rock band. Let's just say that after watching Jennifer's Body you might think that the 80's B Horror movies that you're so glad are gone may unfortunately be trying to make a revival.
I'll tell you one group of folks that should stay away--far away--from this movie are the folks affected by or familiar with the 2003 tragic fire in Rhode Island at The Station night club. There is an early scene in this movie that is eerily reminiscent of that horrible fire. I'm sure that Director Kusama had no intension of mocking or making light of that incident in this film, but the folks in Rhode Island may not agree.
Searching for a real 4 or 5 star movie? Check out my list...not Jennifer's Body.
- Wow, this is the SADDEST excuse for a movie! Slow running, and so far out there that I think the director was Puffing the magic dragon as he sat in his chair! Do yourself a favor, if this is all there is to rent in the video store, go home and get rest, as that would be a better way to spend your time!
- I finally saw jennifer's body after waiting forever! I was a little surprised because I heard really bad things about it. It was really good! It was total 80s style fun! Thats how they should be. I am a huge horror fan and have seen some things I almost wished I hadn't! These days its all about shock factor and sometimes I just wanna see a good old fashioned fun scary movie. This is for sure a hilarious and fun movie that has been long overdue! I reccommend this movie to anyone who wants to take a break from all the rape scenes and torture devices in most of the scary movies made today. If you want to see some blood and gore and still keep laughing.... see this movie immediately!
- I get movies really cheap and I got this a week ago. I like horror movies. I don't like Megan Fox. She is the next Angelina Jolie in my opinion (average looking girl who has a lot of obsessed fans who call you gay if you say so). Amanda Segfried does look better on her worst day like someone else said. And she is really funny I thought. My favorite line of her's was "No Chip, this was like evil." Her character is likeable, and the movie starts off with a funny scene as well. Her last line of the movie was pretty cool too. The band, "low shoulder" I don't watch MTV but if that was really them in the movie they are pretty good actors too, very funny. Megan Fox's over use of the word sh** was really annoying to me for some reason. And this is a movie you can watch over and over again. I only gave it three stars because I don't give something 5 stars just because I like it. It's not perfect but it was decent for a horror comedy.
