- This video is amazing. The concept appears to be cyling around
and looking at scenery while the nice music is playing. I cannot decide if this is supposed to be for an exercise class or for a history class. The parts about Barbados and Florida were quite intersting even if there was no drama or special effects. This type of program would be good for children who are studying American history in school, but it is also very relaxing just to watch it.
- Someone once said that she could not decide whether this DVD was appropriate for history class or exercise. After reviewing this DVD, I can safely say that it is appropriate for neither. It may be appropriate for sleeping or getting you ready for sleep. If you are expecting a DVD that is shot from the vantage point of a bicyclist as I was, then you will be disappointed. The cycling tour guide was so bland and uninspiring that I wanted to cycle away from the cities that I was touring via DVD. I wanted to enter the dead end that she did (on purpose?). I was hoping she would be shot by the minutemen who gave a brief introduction to this "historical" production. Please do not waste your time or money on this DVD.
- A wounderful low tech diversion from the fast pace norm of hollywood HO HA. Sure to enligthen the viewer to the aspects of early American colonial life in the southern costal region. This is certianly worth a look for the avid cyclist.
- This was a good idea (bicycling and letting us know what it looks like...) but the person riding the bike sure didn't want to be there, and it shows. Very, very boring. Not worth the money, I put it on 32X speed to even get through it! Sometimes she's on the left side of the trail, sometimes the right, sometimes a helmet, sometimes not...sometimes asleep, sometimes not...
Someone should have watched this DVD before it was put up for sale.
- This DVD was an excellent experience. The editing and dubbing were extraordinary. The scenery was exquisite in all the historical settings. The attention to detail and special effects
impressed me.

- This film really has it all--impossible temperatures, stomach viruses, and funky-fresh country beats! Also, it's about biking across the country. Which is awesome.
- It's a tremendous documentary, reminded me a lot of "Breaking Away" in that it's about bicycling. I would really recommend checking it out. It's very worthwhile, and a really unique examination of a great nonprofit--THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BIKE CHALLENGE.
Love,
Scott
- Well, I didn't notice when I bought this DVD that the program is less than 1/2 hour long. I was expecting something different, something more movie-ish. But for a 1/2 hour show, and since the money goes to Habitat for humanity, then I guess it was ok. It is really more of a promotion for the ride and interviews of a few people saying, we rode bikes across the country and it was hard but we had a good time. The riders did go through some beautiful places and I liked the shots of that.
- I bought this because it has some good reviews here. I don't know what have these reviewers been smoking :) Or is this some kind of self-promoting perhaps? This is not a documentary, it's a 30 minutes tale of a bunch of american (very american ;)) students who ride bikes. Nothing really happens. Those awards you see in the cover are from "bicycle film festival" etc...

- This ride includes quite a bit of coaching, when to sit and stand, tips on proper breathing, when to bring it down a little, how to prepare for a particularly challenging area that's coming up next, etc. There are constant views of other riders and at times the ride gets so tough that there is separation. We leave a few folks in the back, but later some of them pick it up again on a flatter surface. The hills are a true test.
The focus is definitely on what you are doing. You aren't just enjoying the scenery. The target audience for this one is someone at a much higher skill level than I am, but I enjoyed every minute of it, even the bonus hill. The narration was pleasant and professional. The screen information was helpful and didn't get in my way.

- Best film I ve found for conveying the expierence
of ultra endurance sports. Wonderfull movie for training
motivation and a great depiction of one of the worlds
great sporting events.
- I have watch every world comp cycle film I can get my hands on
and this is the best . Great 2hr trainer.
- This is one of the best cycling documentaries I have ever watched. A beautiful combination of great camerawork, a stunning setting, great soundtrack and engaging subjects. It goes beyond the highlight reel and goes into the day to day life and musings during the tour. It delves into the deep friendship between Erik Zabel (6 time green jersey winner) and one of his trusted helpers on the team, Rolf Aldag. The frankness, humility and emotion displayed by the racers is a welcome contrast to the typical journalists take from an interview that one would read on the mass media. A must watch for any cycling fan.
- Hell on Wheels is a docudrama about the Tour de France. It doesn't show the actual competion and the heroism. It's focussing about what real life for professional cyclists means. It appears that the profession is very tough and that "le grand boucle" completely wears you out. Also remarkable are all the fysical problems that can occur. Further the movie shows lots of "behind the scenes" shots from the mecaniciens and supporting personnel of the cyclists.
The quality of the photography is superb and also the quality of the surround sound. You actually hear al the noise that cycling generates and that you never will hear viewing the Tour de France stages. In this particular Tour Lance Armstrong takes the win, but that doesn't play an important role in the movie.
I really liked this movie and it's a must for all cyclist who enjoy watching cylcing.
- Among the most beautiful films on cycling. The film has great cinematography, and it is a rare look into the world of elite professional road cycling.

5 comments about Scenic Trex Beachside Jungle DVD - Walking, Cycling, Treadmill, Elliptical Workout.
- I own several walking DVD's of this type, but this is one of the best. The scenery is lush and the photography is steady and smooth and moves along just like you're walking in a beachside jungle or on a beautiful beach in St. Lucia. In the background you hear the waves on the shore and the birds and other natural sounds. It's easy to imagine yourself in a completely different, exotic place rather than at home on your treadmill or elliptical trainer.
One thing I especially liked about this DVD is that there is a 5 minute warm up section where you're on this beautiful jungle clearing overlooking the ocean with large rock outcroppings in the distance and the sun rising. It almost looks like a still scene except for the clouds slowly moving and a bird flying by every now and then. It's a good time to do a few stretches before beginning your walk.
The next part is the beachside jungle which is 37 minutes long. There you'll walk on a path among the palms and lush tropical plants. The birds and sound of the distant ocean are the only sounds you'll hear (unless you want to turn down the sound and use your mp3 player instead) as you walk along, looking at the scenery. The next part is the beach with it's high rocks along the shore and palapas overlooking the ocean. This part is 12 minutes long. You'll be walking at the ocean's edge with water lapping at your feet. This is a beautiful way to wake up in the morning!
The last part is a sunset and cool down which is 20 minutes long. As you watch the sun setting you might enjoy a few yoga poses or maybe a more leisurely walk after your workout.
I think these "virtual treadmill" or "virtual walk" DVD's are a wonderful way to make walking indoors as interesting as walking outside. For me, it makes the time go quickly and puts me in a great frame of mine to begin my day.
- I enjoyed the other DVD from this line, and this one fabulous, too! DVD features a nicely paced trek through the jungle -- not only the perfect start to my workout, but motivates me to keep moving. Hoping for more DVDs in the future...!
- Scenic Trex Beachside Jungle is such a refreshing, relaxing background that the beautiful visual lingers long after the workout session. I sometimes view it on my laptop during morning coffee. Love being transported to St. Lucia. Look forward to more Scenic Trex.
- I did not like the camera angle as it appeared too high. They should've filmed it from a runners perspective. The beach run is short and then it just stops while looking out at the ocean for several minutes. The jungle run was a little better but at one point, you are coming down a decline toward a pool of water and before you get to it, the scene changes. I would not recommend this for the $15 I paid.
- I have been using another set of virtual DVDs that are meant for cycling, but I use them on my treadmill. I've been so happy with them that when I got this one, I really was prepared to be disappointed.
I was delighted with it!
I hit the 'Play All' rather than choosing a specific segment. So we started out with a gorgeous still setting, with the sound of the ocean, which invigorated me as I got myself settled in on my treadmill. I was puzzled for a moment and thought that's all there was to it, so I stopped it and checked. Sure enough, that was just the warm-up.
Next, we come out of a little wooden gate onto a jungle path, surrounded with palm trees and other greenery. The sound was pleasant and non-intrusive. In fact, the sound of my treadmill was the only thing that annoyed me and I usually don't like the cheesy kind of sound on most 'scenery' videos.
So we travel on down that path, always choosing to go left when the path goes 2 directions. There are times when we go over small bridges and catch a glimpse of the water below.
Eventually I wondered if we would EVER get to the ocean, but we did. What a gorgeous view. I felt as if I were walking barefoot in the sand, with the waves coming in over my feet, sometimes having to walk around pieces of wood, etc., that had floated in from the sea. I felt as if I were really there.
I'm very pleased with this. It has a place by my bike-o-vision DVDs. I like to go to a different location to 'walk' or cycle or travel on my elliptical machine every day. It is such an incentive to get in there and spend that time which may also keep me healthy.
I recommend this DVD IF you are a person who loves nature.
