- I love this treadmill. This is my first treadmill, but I have been a runner for 17 years. I bought my treadmill 9 months ago and I have booked 160 hours, and it requires only minor adjustments to the belt (and I am not mechanical, but it is easy). I like the Executive because of all of the programs and screens you can watch while you are running, it helps pass the time. I am only 5 foot 6 inches, but the larger platform that the L8 offers makes me feel more secure and I never have to think about staying on the belt. I still enjoy running outside when I can, but with two young children at home and a husband that travels, this treadmill has saved my sanity. I absolutely love and would highly recommend this model if you love to run.

- I did a lot of research before I bought this machine and it paid off. THere were no real sales out there ,but rather phony discounts. This the only one truly marked down. I am over 300 pounds so I knew I needed a sturdy machine with a big motor. I used to work at a health club and for me only the star trac is any better than this one.Free shipping? this thing weighs over 250 pounds. THe delivery service was exceptional. this one of the best buying experiences ever.
- The treadmill is awesome. The problem was with Amazon. It was suppose to be delivered "white glove" meaning brought into my home and set up. Amazom assured me before delivery (and actually placing the order) that I would receive this service. It was dropped off in my garage and I was told it was threshold only. I finally drew tired of parking outside (cold winter) I paid a delivery service to assist me. I am out nearly $200.00 I wasn't planning on. I would like the extra money paid back to me. This is truly bad business on Amazon's part.
- I was about to buy a Sole F83 treadmill for around $1700 delivered when I discovered that this treadmill was almost identical and just marketed under a different brand. Far as I can tell, that is accurate... the only difference I see besides a slightly different paint job is this model doesn't seem to have a place to hook up the ipod which is a totally useless feature far as I am concerned anyway.
The treadmill is solid and feels great. It seems of comparable quality to the Precors I use at the gym.
At $1299 from Amazon with free shipping it is a steal and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if you are in the market for a treadmill of (near) gym quality. At $1900 from the other vendors, it is still a good treadmill but there are other options you may want to consider instead. The person who delivered mine helped me bring it inside also which costs $100 more from a lot of the internet dealers, including Sole. The package is very bulky and ridiculously heavy (260 or 270 lbs). It was pretty easy to put together and took about an hour.
- I was very concerned about purchasing something this costly over the internet. Everything went very smooth. The product arrived in a couple of weeks in a BIG truck. It's extremely heavy! The delivery man helped me get the box inside the house. From there it was easy to assemple, took abut 20 minutes. The fold up feature works great and it is very easy to roll around, at least on my tile floors. It took a me a little time to get it leveled just right. There was a little wobble at first. Buying from Amazon saved me a fortune. Free shipping, no tax, and I used my Amazon.com credit card to get 3% in Amazon credits. Can't beat that deal!
The treadmill feels equivalent in quality to the high dollar Life Fitness treadmills at my gym. The only thing this one doesn't do is decline. I can only run uphill. It is very quite and the ride is great. I've been able to run everyday without getting any soreness. I never could do that running outside. The running surface feels huge and I have no problems running off the belt. Occasionally when I'm running uphill I will land my foot on the front plastic cover if I get to close to the console.
The programs aren't all that useful for me. They seem too easy and there's really not that much difference between them. I would like to see a speed intervals that takes you from fast to slow according to heart rate. I really like the heart rate control. You can set it for a certain heart rate and the treadmill will adjust incline and speed to keep you there. I took the time to program my own program under User 1 and that works really well. You can modify it throughout your workout and it will save your modifications if you want it to. That helps you monitor your progress. If you are constantly slowing down the program then you aren't doing as well as the last workout.
One complaint I have is that the display has redundant information. There's the distance, time, calories, and heart rate at the top. Then at the bottom there's the same information or you can toggle it to see pace and kcal per hour. Spirit should have added different information here and avoided the redundancy. I would like to see it keep track of my elevation climbed, average speed, lap times, etc.
The heart rate strap works great, especially with the heart rate control programs. My wife uses the handles, which seem to work as good as any. The speed and incline controls on the handles are very nice.
The pause button is easy to hit by accident when changing speed while running. It's annoying when that happens because the machine comes to a complete stop. It gives a 3 second countdown before starting back up and it starts up VERY slowly.
I got this treadmill mainly because it would go 12mph and has a 15% incline. Unfortanetly, the quick buttons will only take it up to a 12% grade and there is no 0% grade quick button. To go to 15% or to 0% you have to manually do it with the Up or Down buttons on the console or the hand rails The fans work pretty good too. I could use a little more air, but they certainly beat having nothing at all. My only complaint with the fans is that you have to turn them off with a switch. They run independent of the treadmill and only have one speed.
I've already ran over 200 miles on this and have had no problems with quality. I'm extremely please with my purchase.

- This is a great treadmill! It is very easy on the knees & has a great walking bed on it. I have extreme RA & I am able to uss this with no problems.
- The Smooth 5.25 treadmill is great for home use. It seems to be very sturdy and it's pretty quiet. We don't use it for running, but for moderate walking exercise it is fine and we are very satisfied.
Be prepared to get some help when it's delivered because it weighs 200 lbs. and you really can't break it down into smaller parts to get it in the house. All the weight is in the base with the motor and negotiating stairs are a bit of a challenge. 2 strong adults are required.
- I've been using this treadmill for 6 months now. I love it. My experience with the product has been A1, beginning with a phone call to the company to ask questions, to the delivery, set-up, and through 6 months of use.
The treadmill is very responsive to inputs for changes in speed and angle of inclination. I use maximum incline and speeds up to 7mph. The noise is not obtrusive. If I'm watching television, I have to increase the volume about twice normal; for me that's acceptable. I have had no problems at all with this product and highly recommend it.
I did the set-up myself, which means taking the treadmill out of the box and attaching handle bars and a few other finishing pieces. Two people are strongly advised, however. The manual was incorrect in a couple places, so a little mechanical aptitude is necessary.
The computer functioning, usability, and readouts are excellent. I recommend seriously considering this treadmill.
- Our last attempt at physical fitness was with an stationary bike. After an initial flurry of activity, it became an expensive clothes rack. We have had the treadmill for two months. I cannot explain it, but we use it regularly. The machine has functioned perfectly, except for the pulse monitor, which is not at all accurate. The various exercise programs make working out efficient and offer variety. Hopefully our resolve to get fit will give this fine machine an endurance test over the course of time. We cannot say that we put much strain on it, since we are relatively small people and we tend to do power walking rather than running. The treadmill was shipped promptly and arrived quickly. The assembly took about 1 1/2 hours. Oh, and if a clothes rack is needed, it functions much better than the bike for that purpose. A machine made in heaven.
- I recently purchased the 5.25 after doing the required research in trying to determine the best TM for my needs and my dollars. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase of the 5.25. It arrived in a timely manner - two weeks after ordering - and the freight men moved it upstairs (definitely the best $25 I have spent in a while, as this is a heavy unit/box).
I bought the 5.25 for two reasons: 1) the strong warranty, and 2) its weight and size, as we didn't have room for a larger TM and I was thinking about when we would have to move it when that time comes. I also liked the Sole F63 and could have bought it for $100 less, but it is a few inches longer, 50 lbs heavier, and the deck may be a bit harder than the Smooth. However, there are things about the Sole I prefer.
Some reviewers, around the Net, mention that the 5.25 is best for walking. While I do that more than running now, I have found that this TM works just fine for an 8 minute mile - very solid at its weight of 195 lbs and very strong with the 2.5 hp motor. It is also fairly quiet in its operation, at least compared to an old Vitamaster that we had been using for about 4 years.
My complaints have to do with the console and readouts. First, they are quite small and in black, and therefore not as easy to pick up when running. What I really dislike is the fact that the MPH and Distance alternate back and forth on the same readout: MPH for 15 seconds, then Distance for 10 seconds. This makes it hard to determine your actual time for a mile or two. Secondly, I dislike that the Distance does not come in hundreths, but only tenths. This makes it near impossible to check your time on quarters. Even the old, probably 15 years, Vitamaster had separate feeds for MPH and Distance, and it showed hundreths for distance. Also, the console is way too large for the actual size of the computer read-out screen making most of it superflous and an obstruction for viewing a TV. That is a minor irritation.
Set up was relatively easy and instructions were good. Again, however, I found the directions for using the console/computer in need of clarity.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the Smooth 5.25. If the console was improved to give a better and brighter reading of the figures and there were two separate windows for the MPH and Distance, along with hundreths, I would give this unit 5 stars.

- It's too bad about that unfortunate delivery service experience, but what about the product itself? How do you like it? Does it run as it claims? Does the display console lay flat? How easy is it to move around on the little wheels once you get it out of the box? Does it really come 100% assembled? Do you think it's compact enough to fit in a trunk or back seat of a sedan (not Lincoln Town Car size, maybe a Honda Civic)?
I must have read somewhere else that the delivery for this product is only curb side and it also suggested to have someone with you at time of delivery, but I understand where Amazon or whoever the seller is might also need to express that. I'm still researching this treadmill, but after reviewing several other sites selling it, I'm convinced that it's the one for me. I plan to take it to my job. I'm a 9-1-1 communications officer and have worked 12hr shifts for the last five years on a chair. I went from 155 to 185 to 212 lbs since then. I have to do some thing! It's a shame it's no longer available on Amazon. :( I love this website!
