  1. I purchased item after reading the reviews. Some said it made a noise while using but I don't think its bad at all. If you listen to music as you are using it,you don't hear anything. I listen sometime and sometimes I don't and it doesn't bother me at all. It really works your legs which is what I wanted. It has monitor on it that keeps the time your on it and how many steps you use.You can clear that each time.I am very glad I bought it.

  2. Fitness Quest XL Stepper This company is incredible. My product arrived damaged. In less than 2 weeks I received my return sticker, sent the product back and received my new stepper. I would definitely order from them again. This is a very reputable company

  3. I got the stepper last week and have used it every day since! It's so small that it doesn't take up too much space in the house, and so portable I can use it on the patio, in front of the TV, or anywhere. This stepper has finally made it easy for me to get exercise because it's simple and easy to use.

When I read some of the negative reviews, I worried I might be buying something that wouldn't be worth it. But I'm totally satisfied with this purchase. I'm hoping it lasts a long time, but even if it doesn't, the price was so low anyway.

  4. this thing works great have had no problems. Does squeak but a little oil stops that.

    I love it!!!

  5. It is a basic unit, but it does its work (making you sweat).
The little computer helps you to keep track of you exercise routine.
    Easy to store.
No specially noise as I read in another review.

  1. This stepper is good to have around if you want to do quick cardiovascular exercise.

Setting up was easy and straightforward. Like the other reviewers have noted mine squeal too. You will feel initially heavy resistance when you start stepping but that will ease as the machine get warmed up which is good thing because you cannot adjust tension on this stepper.

I feel this stepper is good to have around for people who want to do some exercise (which is better than being a couch potato) or spend more money on gym. If it breaks then I'll just order another one but I doubt it. After several months of daily use it is still going strong. :)

  2. It feels quite sturdy and safe and I am using the thing. I would suggest it as an item to add variety to your aerobic exercise, not as your only aerobic activity. I has started squeaking a bit after a month's use. It comes and goes. It can probably be lubricated but I have been too lazy to try that yet. Happy stepping.

  3. This unit takes almost no space and yet provides an adequate cardo workout for me. Granted, I'm not training for the Ironman competition; But for the "average Joe" it serves well!

  4. Although the stepper is a little noisy, it worked fine until the metal cross bar that provides tension for the pedals broke.
It's an inexpensive product, and you get what you pay for.

  5. for 30 days, no problem, then it brakes. 1st the cable broke and it took the company 20 days to replaced, then the screw stripped and it took 10 days to replace it. then the cable broke again and it was out of stock and back ordered for 30 days. It's not good to have a product you can not use because the parts keeps braking. The company Stamina is small and dont have the parts to back up their products. This product is made cheap that's why the parts keep braking.

  1. you really do not get in shape with this stepper.dvd work out helps a lot more, this just make your feet heart.

  2. A bit on the heavy side at twenty pounds, but it is sturdy and the ease of movement of the pedestals assures an addictive workout.

  3. My girlfriend bought this product, and literally the first time she used it, the straps broke and the whip literally hit her in the face. Luckily it was a glancing blow to her cheek and not her eye, the red mark it left was gone pretty quickly.

Seeing as how the straps are supposedly an important part of the total workout, I'd say that severely damages the value of this product.

She refused to return it however, claiming she didn't care that she didn't have the straps so I guess she enjoys it, she still uses it as a stepper to this day.

Another thing I noticed is the smell of burning rubber it gives off after seeing heavy use, it was especially strong early on and may have lessoned over time or we got used to the smell.

  4. This is a great product for a crowded home. It is stable, well built, easy to use. The arm bands give you a surprisingly good workout, when used with the stepper.

This is geared for persons up to 250 pounds. I had an earlier model geared for people up to 225, and after 5 years of use the cable broke. This one seems a slight bit sturdier, but at the price, if this only lasts 5 years I am well ahead!

  5. Does Amazon screen the feedback? I will try again to leave a review. Anyway, this is a great small equipment for home exercise. My only complaint is it heats up really quickly. You can actaully smell the plastic. So read manual before using it. So far I haven't had any problem, but it certainly raise my safety concerns.

  1. This stepper has been a very worthwhile piece of equipment, knock on wood.
It has very smooth action, the foot pedals are sturdy, and it is quiet! The handles have no resistance, but they do assist in balance, and they keep your arms moving. There might be a way to add weights to them. The handles do fall to the ground if you're not careful. The stepper can be adjusted for resistance and you can vary the size of your steps easily to vary your workout. It is a good workout for the lower body and great for a room where others might be watching TV at the same time since it makes no noise. It can be moved from one room to another fairly easily.

  2. If you're looking for a good work out and don't have a lot of space to keep exercise equipment, this is the machine for you. My whole family uses it on a regular basis (5 of us) and we've had it for a year. I'm buying one for my sister for Christmas this year she loves mine so much. I paid $69 last year and now it's $82, but I think it's still worth the price.

  3. I bought this in April and it broke in October. Not worth what I paid for it. The pulley is broken.

  4. I bought this stepper 3 months ago, and it's already broken! Yeah, it gives you a good sweat, but the thing is a piece of cheap junk. The pulley is made out of cheap plastic which can break easily! Now I have to wait 180 days for a new pulley, which I bet will break again! I wish I'd never brought this product! When I bought it, it was $82. It makes me cry to think I wasted $82 on this junk when I could have bought a more trustworthy stepper, even though it would have costed me a little bit more money! Trust me, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!

  1. I will start by saying that the product arrived broke. I was still able to put it together as the part that is broken is the part that allows you to screw it in to base and also unscrew to unfold. I can't do that anymore.

I bought this thinking that if I get a year use out of it, it is cheaper than a gym. I just wanted something to give me a cardio workout to help lose the last five pounds before my wedding.

My legs are killing me after a ten minute workout.

Consider the price and the use. For the price, it may be worth it.

  2. The stepper worked well for the first week. Unfortunately, the right piston broke after the first week. Other reviewers described this problem. I only needed the exercise equipment for a few months so for $100 it was worth the gamble. I am still using it, but now it is clumsy and awkward. If you need a temporary exerciser and will not be upset if it breaks, this stepper is a fair deal. Before the stepper broke, it was a good piece of equipment

  3. Very easy to assemble (about 20 minutes), very well made and sturdy. Has a timer, step counter and calorie counter. I did find the resistance of the lowest setting a little more than I would have liked. Overall, would highly recommend this stepper as a good, low cost machine that takes up very little space.

  4. I LOVE this stepper. I did have to get my husband to put it together, but it didn't take long. I wanted something that would give me a good cardio workout in 30 minutes. This works beautifully. It is smooth, quiet, can be adjusted for tension, and is a much sturdier product than I imagined for $100.

  5. I got this with the expectation of only having a year or so before it broke. I wish. Try only 5 uses before it's done (at least I think).

Just FYI, I'm only 5'11 and 175 lbs so it's not like I'm stressing the unit. Plus, I never got to the point where I was working it that hard.

The first 2 or 3 uses were okay. Even when operational, the stepping action is not very smooth. Then comes the jolt. The shocks get very hot and lose tension suddenly. You are riding along and suddenly your foot drops to the floor. It actually hurt my knee with the jolt.

It usually lasts about 15 mins before you can't get the tension back at all. But, at least for a few uses, you could "pump" the stepper a little and get it to work.

Now, after 5 or 6 uses, the tension is completely gone in the right leg. It's completely useless. Seriously, why can't I rate this zero stars? If ever a product deserves it, this does.

On the plus side, it's easy to setup and I suppose to throw away, as I'll soon find out.

One more thing. Even when it did work, I didn't like the pedal incline. If you are used to gym style steppers, you know the pedals are pretty level. That way, you can lean a little forward or back to change up the workout. This unit, however, has a STEEP incline (in towards the handle bars). It doesn't make for a comfortable stepping motion. I chalked this up to 'you get what you pay for though' at first.

Of course, even at a real cheap price, it should last longer than a couple of weeks...

    Stay away!!

5 comments about Gaiam Mini Stepper with Resistance System.

  1. Cable wore out in 2 months. I got a replacement. But the damn cable wore out again in a couple of months....NEVER buy this piece of junk!

  2. I've owned this system for approximately a year, and it's handled a great deal of stepping without any problems. I also inadvertently dropped it on a tile floor while moving it to another location, and was relieved to find that there wasn't any resultant damage. Although it's not the most aesthetically-pleasing stepper available (it's obvious where parts were welded together), it provides an intense workout and can then be easily stored. Overall, this stepper has been a great value for the money. (One note: given my positive experience, I purchased this product as a gift for a family member, and she has a far easier time maintaining her balance if she's *not* using the resistance cords. If you don't like them, simply let them rest at the sides of the machine while doing your workout.)

  3. I gave one of these to my wife for Christmas 2005. She used it 3 or 4 times a week for about a year until it broke. Specifically, the weld that connects the axle to the frame broke. My wife is not a heavy person -- 120 lbs. max. So I echo what other reviewers have said: this product is not built to last. I called Gaiam and asked for a replacement, they said no.

  4. I bought this because I wanted a stepper that I could use and then easily put away. It worked pretty well for about two months. I was using it three or four days a week for about 20 minutes each time. Today, I was using it as usual and the cable that makes the steps go up and down suddenly snapped. I'm an average sized woman and way below the suggested maximum weight for it. I'm really disappointed in this stepper. I may contact the company for a new cable but I'm not sure I want to keep using this thing if it's going to break again.

  5. When I ordered this item, I was initially very happy to have found a small stepper that I could keep in my bedroom and slide under my bed when it was not in use. However, I found that it was not easy to use with my feet placed in the centers of the step platforms because they are so close together. I ended up putting my feet on the outer edges of the step platforms so that I would have better balance and be able to move my legs more easily. Also, the sensor that detects when a step is made was not very sensitive, so the readout on the digital monitor never reflected the amount of time of the workout or the number of steps that I had made - I ended up just timing myself with a clock.

Most critically, the cable that runs under the stepper and through a pulley wore through and broke after only a few months of using the stepper once or twice a week. This is the cable that pulls one step up when the other is pushed down, so without it the stepper will not work. There was no warning that the cable was being worn through - it just suddenly broke. I am not a particularly heavy adult and was using the stepper mostly for improving cardiovascular fitness, so I don't think I put an undue strain on the cable.

I am NOT planning to replace this product with a similar mini stepper.

4 comments about Air Climber By Brenda Dygraf - Help You Burn Calories And Get Fit - All With The Power Of Air!.

  1. I am a yoga instructor & was looking to add in some variety to my workouts, especially cardio. I saw the infomercial on HSN and purchased this Air Climber despite feeling some trepidation - would this thing really work? Had I just wasted over a hundred dollars?
Boy, can I assure you - my fears were completely put to rest once I popped in the workout DVD and got started!! This is absolutely amazing value for the money. First, Brenda Dygraf is an excellent trainer - she knows what she's doing and she's able to teach it to you effectively. That's a pretty rare combination in my experience. Second, you will get 2 DVD's with 6 workouts -- 3 using the Air Climber and 3 just floorwork (the Cardio Pump requires light hand-weights). There is something for everyone on these DVD's -- some are easier and anything with the word "Pump" in the title will have even the most advanced exerciser sweating up buckets & gasping for breath!! And her Ab routine on the floor is the most effective i've found yet -- I do abs everyday and rarely feel sore, but after doing this puppy it hurt to laugh the next day. A word of advice: you may not feel much with the Air Climber if you don't use the Body Cord & follow the techniques in the videos. You really have to work it - it's not going to do the work for you like an elliptical machine does.

  2. I got mine from HSN. It comes with videos, which are excellent.
It's just like being at the gym, but cheaper!
    What a workout!
What's great is, no assembly is required.
You just take it out of the box and you're ready to go!
Be sure you read the directions.
If you don't inflate the bellows prior to use, you can damage the equipment.
For $100, this deal can't be beat!

  3. I wrote a comment to the previous review, but I'll repeat it here: I think their first batch of Air Climbers was defective. I purchased one, and I started having problems with the bellows, too. But customer service replaced the unit for me (with no questions asked), and the one I have now has been working flawlessly. It would seem that if you purchase something and right away it doesn't work correctly, you should just call the company and have them replace it, and if for some reason they won't do that, you can dispute it on your credit card. Don't let yourself be a victim for no reason. (One note--I would recommend getting the extended warranty if it's available. It's worth the extra $10.)

I love my Air Climber so much that I'm considering getting a second one so that I can have one upstairs and another one downstairs (even though it's extremely lightweight and easy to carry--just one more plus). At first I just used it several times a week, because I have other exercise routines that I do as well. But then I wanted to get some extra Christmas weight off quickly, so I started using the Air Climber in front of the TV while watching programs and movies that I like. It's been absolutely wonderful for this! I can vary the tension if I want (even though I rarely do,) vary the speed I do it, or just do a sort of easy up and down motion so that I can enjoy myself and not feel like I'm working hard (I don't particularly like exercising, so it really helps to do something pleasurable while I'm doing it). After 20 minutes or so, even if I'm just kind of doing a gentle up and down, I'm still sweating and definitely derive benefit from it.

You can't beat the price (especially on Amazon) for a portable stair stepper that can really get your heart pumping!

  4. I bought it after seeing the tv infomercial, I was so excited. Once I received it I started using it right away. On the first workout session I had to inflate the belows 4 times in just 20 minutes! The second time I used it, the air began to exit the belows and I couldn't use it anymore! I followed all the instructions listed on the manual but it was impossible. Don't buy it!

  1. It's true that the stepper moves all over the place. I move the coffee table and use it on a 3'x5' area rug. It really does work, though. I have arthritis in my knees, and this does not bother me. I've found that strengthening my legs keeps the knee pain at bay in general. I can feel the difference in my glutes.

  2. This would be a wonderful little exercise machine if you could keep it in place. It moves not just in step motion but all over the mat, carpet and floor.

  1. good starter step. Great for someone wanting to get into step but not such a big investment or so bulky. Easy and light.

  2. I love it! It is much larger than I expected and extremely durable. It definitely exceeded my expectations. During my research for an Aerobic step, I found this one to be the most economical. I got a great deal on it.

  3. The step works fine, I just wish it was a little bit wider like the one I had before.

  1. Things I like: ease to set up out of the box, appears very durable, can use without cords or with very easily, doesnt' take up much space, battery powered timer counts steps, keeps time and shows calories burned, relatively quiet to use. Things I did not like: The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the instructional video that came with it was a VCR tape...who uses VCR anymore? That makes me question how long this product has been sitting on a shelf somewhere. Fortunately I still have a functional VCR hooked up but haven't looked at the video yet. Overall this is a product I would recommend and do not regret my purchase.

  2. This exercise stepper is great. The bands are strong and sturdy, and the base is steady. You get a great lower body work out, while increasing the aerobics with changes in pace and arm motions. The resistance from the bands is just as good as free hand weights.

  3. I have only had this item for a few weeks and have not used it as much as I intended yet. I gave it four stars only because I can not yet comment on whether it is durable or gets results. I can say that after just ten minutes, my heartrate is up and I have a pretty good sweat going. I can definitely feel the burn in my legs and butt. Definitely much more of a workout than the four flights of stairs at work that I traverse about six times per day. Its seems like a pretty sturdy device, and contrary to what others have said, I find the resistance cords to add a significant strain to the workout. In any event, they are easily removed if one prefers to use handweights or just shadowbox or play with your Nintendo Wii instead. It is definitely quiet enough to watch TV while using. It doesn't squeak like some others are faulted for doing, though mine does seem to make some kind of swooshing sound when it gets hot. This could be some air movement as the seals heat up. It doesn't seem to affect the resistance or if it does, I seem to automatically compensate for the minute change. All in all, seems like a good value, but that fifth star is going to have to wait for ten pounds and better endurance.

  4. I've had this thing for a couple of weeks now, and i really like it. It seems really well made. I I really like the adjustable tension.
The arm bands are kind of hard for me to use right now, but maybe in time.
the only complaint: the hidraulycs start to make noise after I've been on it for about 30 min.

  5. I have always wanted an elliptical trainer. But with limited space, I found a mini-stepper to be a good alternative. I have done a lot of research and read reviews from Amazon, and seems that this is a more reliable stepper. After 1 day of use, here are my findings:

    Pros:
-It arrived pre-assembled. All you need is to remove the plastic, put together the resistance knob (see Cons below), cord, and meter.
-Some mentioned the paddles being too small. I wear 7 1/2 and the paddles are more than I need.
    -Space-saving
-Good resistance for a starter for low-impact workout. I want to focus on my tummy, hip, and thighs, and this stepper provides what I need.
-Meter is simple to use, I know when I can have my next cookie

    Cons:
-The knob that is supposed to tighten the resistance cord gets loosen up fairly quickly. I haven't used it long enough to tell, but it seems to work best if you were to stay on it consecutively. This is my biggest disappointment.
    -It's squeaky (just a little)

For under $70, I can avoid the rain and sweaty equipment in gym. Good low-impact workout.
