  1. Purchased the wavemaster for my son because he has nowhere to hang a heavy bag. He likes it a lot. Shipping was very fast.

  2. I bought this for my children ages 5, 8, and 10 because at karate they seemed to really enjoy it. I've found it's a great way to funnel their energy. Buy boxing gloves though. The bag hurts their knuckles. I am using sand as a stabilizer in the base. We are very happy with our bag.

  3. This heavy bag is the updated version of one I already have. Bought this for my grandkids. It appears to have solid construction and I like the height adjustments better than mine. While they can not hit it that hard yet, they enjoy it. Shipping was satisfactory. This was a good purchase.

  4. I bought this bag for myself and my 9 year old son. It works great for the two of us. It does move around some when I am hitting it. My husband is also using it and he can move the thing around the room. It is definitely a beginner bag. We will have to upgrade when my son gets bigger and stronger.

  5. Bag arrived quickly and in good condition. The cardboard packaging was mangled by UPS but the product survived intact.

  1. The bag is pretty good but after a few uses the filling settles to the bottom, which leaves the top pretty flimsy and not adequate for punching. I had to stuff it with extra filling to try to make it more harder at the top. The gloves and wraps are good. Overall for the price, not bad other than what was mentioned above.

  2. For the price it's a great buy. It comes with gloves an all which is an additional cost I didn't have to pay for. Like others when the box arrived it was very very banged up but the product was fine inside. I didn't buy the hook they tried to sell me I just used some stuff in the garage and it hangs fine. Like I said, for the price you can't beat it.

  3. Have had this for a few days and love it. Many of the bags I had been looking for did not come with the chains to hang the bag on. Getting the gloves is a great bonus! Bag was well protected during FREE SHIPPING :-) Great value! Would reccommend to a friend (just make sure you buy a hanger).

  4. I had gotten a 50lb bag for Christmas and was pleased with it, but when I hung it up, it was too high for my 5 year old to hit. I wanted a heavier bag and one that hung lower so I searched all over for the specs I wanted at the best price. I found it here. I'm very happy with the bag. It would have gotten a 5th star if it had come with a ceiling mounting bracket and a floor mounting bracket for the tether. I would reccommend it.

  5. This bag is awesome, i was worried the 70lbs wouldn't be enough but it just forces you to have control which is very conduscive to learning how to hit it.

  1. If you ever thought about buying a free standing punching bag, this is the one to get. The only issue I had as that I felt the opening on the base to pour sand or water in could have been larger. other than that, this product is worth the money!

  2. The product was shipped ahead of schedule always a good thing. Assembly was easy;I chose to fill it with sand vs water, five 50lb bags. As advertised this brought the weight to about 270plus pounds. Yet the weight is not enough to keep the bag from being tipped over. I was able to knock it over with a fairly moderate punch and a kick blasts it to the floor without trying. I have to resort to just using the bag for speed drills vs power drills. So in short this is not a heavy bag for adults with any true power behind them as advertised. So I kept it for my up and coming students to practice their power hits.

  3. I have had the wavemaster before for 5 yrs and it took all the kicks and punches that I gave it and its the best bag
that has done that and lasted 5 plus yrs so when it got damaged I brought another one and to me its the best bag I have ever worked with. Its my second wavemaster and there the best make sure you fill it up with sand its alot better than water and heavier. Roy

  4. Like other reviewers, we didn't have an appropriate place to hang a heavy bag, so gave the Wavemaster XXL a shot. I got this primarily for my 6 year old son who's taking Tae Kwondo and needed to practice his kicks at home.

The base is fairly large and easily holds 250 pounds of pea gravel for ballast. Perhaps I should have gone with water, but my son's coach suggested gravel because it weighs more and doesn't slosh when you hit the bag. I may regret that decision when it comes time to get this out of the basement family room, but that may be years from now.

That ballast keeps the bag from moving too terribly much. Of course, my son can wallop the bag with kick after kick and the bag stays put. I couldn't resist the temptation to work off the occasional bout of frustration myself and bought myself a pair of boxing gloves. I'm 6'1" and weigh 225. When I work up a good sweat with this bag, it does move a fraction of an inch per punch. This isn't really a problem though, I just work my way around the bag to keep it in its place.

I can't imagine punching this bag hard enough to cause the cylinder to break, but I imagine that a good sized adult kicking this bag hard could possibly damage it. If that happens, we'll replace the cylinder with another and fill that with about a foot of gravel per suggestion of other reviewers. Some dissassembly and cutting may be required to accomplish that. In any case, that will be years from now.

Of all the stationary bags I researched, this is the most solid and heaviest I've seen. I recommend it highly.

If you want to see one in use, go to U-tube and search for "XXL Bag". You'll see several videos of people giving this bag a workout.

  5. I am 6'4" and a reviewer of the "regular" wavemaster (see the most-helpful negative review) helped to point me to this VERY large bag. I love it! I can punch at my own level, or even above my level, without any issues. I only filled the base about 1/4 of the way so that it has some "give" when I punch it. Could not be happier, especially with amazon's awesome free shipping. One tip: definitely get yourself some bag gloves, my knuckles are already showing some stress...

  1. Handles being kicked very well, just be careful if you order the stand from amazon.

  2. this bag is awesome. Im whoopin its ass on a regular basis its sturdy durable and great for drills!!!!
    Buy it i recommend it

  3. this was a Christmas present for my husband, he loved it. Couldn't wait to hang it up and start working out. The great part for me was the heavy bag was $30 cheaper on Amazon than the store and it was shipped right to my door for free!

  4. The bag that is pictured with the chain and traditional Everlast logo is not the bag that is sent out. The model #4008 is what is on the box(box is barely hanging on and is patched up with shipping tape all over to keep it together) but the bag inside has black webbing instead of chain and the new International Everlast logo. Other than that this is a great bag for the money it just is not the bag pictured and it is not the one ordered. So expect the unexpected. Good luck and keep your guard up.

  5. I bought this for my son for Christmas. He seems to be happy with it, although he has not beat the snot out of it much yet. It did come with the box pretty beat up, but it was very heavy to hall around, so I'm guessing the delivery guy had a hard time with it. Glad I ordered it for delivery so I didn't have to try to get it into my car. Happy so far!

  1. The bag is soft on top and rock hard from the center down. Should of been packed better and evenly. It seems made well otherwise and will probably take plenty of abuse.

  2. Awesome Bag!! The bag is harder towards the bottom half and softer on top. This is a great bag for all around kicking and punching. Maybe if you do this professionally the bag might not last but as for me it'll last me a long time. It's more of a work out/stress bag for me. Fast shipment also. Arrived before my gloves!! If you're looking for a bag to train/work out this ones perfect!! Expect a torn box due to the heavy bag moving and transporting.

  3. Very pleased with this bag. I have been using it hard for 3-4 days a week for about a month and I love it! Would recommend!

  4. Great heavy bag. The box is a lot heavier than 100 lbs. though, so be prepared. The sales guy passed if off to me, and I completely embarassed myself trying to pick it up in the box. But heavier is good, so go for it. I recommend the bag highly, but make sure you get some gloves if you are not used to punching a bag like this; the vinyl looks like it will be easier on your knuckles than canvas, but it isn't. You'll tear your skin off or give yourself some nasty friction burns if you aren't careful.

  5. I bought this as an xmas present for my husband. with stress i thought it would be fun to take it out on the bag. I had it shipped to a friend's house (for the surprise xmas present) when i saw the box it was shipped in i was worried, it was beat up badly, there were big holes and gaps at the top and bottom of the box - however the bag itself was not damaged in shipping which is unreal if you saw the box! it is heavy (duh) over 100lbs, so it is tough to move around alone. i got the recomended heavy bag hanger and it was very simple to install. The bag is great, so much fun to punch, i'm getting my own gloves! make sure you hang it away fom other things, as it tends to swing a little and does need to be attached to a very secure wood beam. i love the design of this bag more than the others i looked at, as the webbing instead of the metal chains is truly more quiet and makes for a better product in my opinion, without all the rubbing of the metal on the bag. the bag does have spots that are harder than other spots, down lower is much harder to hit than up high. Looking forward to learning more about technique and cardio boxing workouts.

  1. I've had this bag for a while. I use it at least 3-5 times a week and it still looks almost brand new. I think this is the best 100lb bag I've used, even out of the ones at my gym. I was deciding between this one and the 100 lb everlast nevatear, but I always see those duct taped up and with holes in them. I would say spend the extra $25 for this one...much better!

  1. We purchased this item to practice kickboxing and martial arts. It has been a good product for us. We have no complaints about the product or service. The service was very good the order was processed and shipped very quickly. Thank you.

  2. I was really excited to get this but now that it has arrived I am dissapointed. I am a small girl 5'2" and when I hit this it moves all over the place! About an inch with each punch! I am going to try sand next and see if it keeps it from going all over :(
The foam cylinder is firm but when you hit it it makes TONS of noise. Not good for apt living! If you are on the 2nd floor forget it! Thankfuly I have it in the 1st floor of our place so that helps but with it moving about you dont want to be on the top floor.
I put a thin blanket over the cylinder and it muffles some of the loud noise from the punching. That kinds helps. If I can get it to not move around I will rate higher but for now I am totally bummed.

  3. I've only had this for about three months, so I'll try to remember to update my review after I've had it a bit longer. In the time that I've had it, though, I think it works great!

I'm not into martial arts seriously, and I bought this just so I could do my at-home kickboxing and boxing workout DVD's. (As a point of reference, I use boxing workouts from people like Cathe Friedrich, Amy Bento, and Michael Olajide.) For these workouts, it's been perfect. It adds a whole different level of intensity to your workouts. If you're stronger and more serious with your workouts, my understanding is that the Wavemaster XXL bag will be better. My husband, for instance, is a black belt in kung fu and is about 180 pounds, and the few times he's used this bag, he found it to be too light for him.

I also decided to pick up this bag as opposed to the regular Century Wavemaster since it seems to have a longer red or blue padded area, and, in fact, that is the case. Since I have terrible flexibility, can't kick that high, and am only 5'4", I wanted to be sure that I had a bag that would allow me to kick it without hurting myself, and this bag definitely fits the bill. Since the padded area is long, I can kick it and not have to worry about accidentally kicking the black base or hurting myself on it.

Another nice feature is that you can fill this with water or sand. I used a pitcher and the bathtub to fill it up, and it only took about 20 minutes to do so.

One negative is that I find that it does move when I use it. I've tried placing a yoga mat underneath and that helps a bit, but generally I just punch it in one direction, then punch it back into place going the other direction. It hasn't been an issue for me at all.

I also got the red color, which is a fun, bright color to have in my workout space.

Overall, a fun purchase. It's solid and well-built, and I can tell that it will last for years to come since, after using it weekly for the last few months, it still looks brand new.

  4. Century Aerobic WavemasterI received a shock when I ordered this bag and realized that the bag was indeed black, but had pink lettering. Unfortunately, this was a present for my son. So my wife called to return the item. They said that since it was our fault--our fault!!--for ordering the product we had to pay for the return shipping costs! We went to UPS and they told us it would cost $200 to send the item back. The item itself only cost $100! When I called the company to tell them this, they simply reiterated that since it was our fault for ordering the incorrect item we would have to pay for the shipping. I then spoke to a manager and asked her if we could use their discounted shipping. She had to think about it! We had to call her back two days later (because she said she would called us, but forgot) and then she reluctantly gave us a return label. Besides this debacle, the item was not at all what I thought it would be. The people who wrote their reviews before me must have been hobbits if they thought this item could withstand regular use by an adult. Very disappointed all around. I will never order from this company again.

  5. Ok, on the one hand, the product does what it says, does it rather well, and arrived quickly and I can't complain about the price, product, or shipping. It's big, it's heavy, It's stable, it didn't break my hands, feet, knees, or elbows when I pounded the snot out of it It also survived a beating that would make a pro wrestler whimper like a scalded puppy.

    That being said...

There are three available colors Red, Blue, and Black. Gentlemen, contrary to all possible logic, the black one is the ladies model. maybe my monitor is a little off, but what looked like an off white graphic is actually a very pink, very feminine decal that is never ever coming out of the fabric.

So, I had this thing delivered to my workplace, and I'm thinking, cool, Christmas is here, when I see the large round box in the office. As I'm opening it up to show the people I work with my new prize, what do I manage to see first? The Big pink decal.

I work with a combination of extremely liberal women and current and ex military men. I don't know which was worse, the Women calling it cute and telling me that it's so great that I can use it to work out my emotions, or the Men pointing out that I now have a giant pink and black phallic symbol in my home.

So I took it home, quickly to avoid any further proof that I had the gayest heavy bag on the market short of hiring a male prostitute for the express purpose of slapping him around, and set it up.

According to the instructions, you need a garden hose to fill the base with water. This is probably the best method, but as I did not have a garden hose handy, I made a funnel out of a 2 liter bottle. it fits perfectly, and if you do it right, you can get some good cardio going filling it from a popcorn bowl. Just fill it from a sink on the other side of the house and run to fill it.

This should take about 72 hours to complete successfully, but the bright side is that if you avoid snacking you will have already gotten more benefit out of the heavy bag than most people ever get out of a Nordic track.

After you pass out from low blood sugar and come round, remember to put the cap back on the fill spout this is important because odds are you didn't fill it properly the first time and are going to knock it over.

So, after you put out the fire from the space heater, then fill the base up completely, and remember to put the cap back on the fill hole, no more than another 72 hours later, you should be ready to punch this thing.

Now, despite appearances, it is not going to lisp, "Stop It!" at you when you hit it. In fact if you are not used to freestanding heavy bags, odds are you are either going to hurt yourself or knock it over. If you knock it over, step back further, because you are getting too much penetration from your swings. (as a side note, I can't believe I'm talking about a giant pink and black phallus and then mentioned penetration from swings)

If you hurt yourself, get a new popcorn bowl and a netflix subscription, trust me there is nowhere to go but down from there.

  1. I'm just a regular person, not a fighter, but I love boxing and MMA and thought this looked like a fun way to mix up my cardio workout. It's really an impressive piece of equipment and I've enjoyed beating on it. If you're not a fighter I think you'd be really surprised how exhausting working out on one of these can be. Really gets me sweating and my heart rate up like you would expect from vigorous exercise.

Definitely get some gloves though to hit it with. I think you would hurt your knuckles if you hit it barehanded very much. I got these gloves and have been 100% satisfied with them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00074H7L4/ref=oss_product

  2. Purchased bob to replace a weather-worn wavemaster xxl. I'm glad I went this route. Hitting bob is a completely different experience. It allows you to really aim your strikes at specific body parts. This is a big improvement in practicing techniques over a simple bag like the wavemaster. I loved the wavemaster, but this adds another dimension to training. Practicing krav maga, we use a lot of strikes that would be illegal in other disciplines, such as eye gouging, groin strikes, throat punches, etc. BOB is great for working these techniques. The body is a bit heavy when you hit the ribs, and is tough on the wrists, but otherwise it's great. Very heavy, so it moves somewhat when you hit it but doesn't get out of control.

  3. I searched the Internet for weeks looking for a freestanding punch bag, I wanted a human shaped bag because it allowed me to practice strikes to vital areas of the body, one of my friends has a human shaped bag made of hard plastic which hurts a lot when you punch it and I was a little worried this bag would be the same.

I checked out some You Tube clips of the Bob bag and it looked really good so I made a purchase, the Bob bag arrived in 4 days. The Bob bag is very broad like a heavyweight boxer, much wider than I expected, when you stand face to face with Bob psychologically because of its size, build and angry face it feels more like you are going into a fight with someone way more powerful than you, which I guess at 6 feet and 300 pounds with no fat would be true.

Bobs skin is really weird, it does not feel like rubber but feels very similar to human flesh, it's soft like ballistics gel but flexes like rubber,it doesn't have the horrible dirty rubber smell, Bobs muscles are also really weird, I thought from the photos they were just little indentations but its a full mold with the muscle sticking out very realistically like someone had just painted a bodybuilder pink. When my dog first saw Bob he thought it was real person, starting barking at it and biting its torso,so he wasn't the only dummy in the room but once he got a sniff he knew it was real.

Bob was comfortable enough for me to punch without the gloves and I am not a boxer. I adjusted Bob to the full 6 feet in height and one thing that I thought was great is that the dummy doesn't rattle as the torso fits perfectly into the stand.

The gloves that came with bob had gel filled knuckles; they look cheap but are very comfortable and allow your hands to breath in long work outs.

The first time I stood bob up I just had to lay into him, I struck his nose which moves with the strike, and it doesnt chip or warp, when you punch him in the stomach you can feel the strike be absorbed by the surrounding material, its exactly like the density and feel of striking a real torso and doesnt have any nasty screws or hard pieces inside to break your hand.

I gave Bob an uppercut to his chin, I expected his head to fly backwards but it moves back only slightly, just like it does on a real person. I decided to then choke him with a rear naked choke, by then I was just having so much fun strangling him I just started laughing at the way his head bends.

Kicks to Bob were easy, the base doesn't get in the way so you don't get caught when you move in close, so if you like kicking you're in luck, the fact that bob has no legs wasn't a problem at all if you're really picky about it you can just wrap the base with pillows.

The XL bob comes with the groin; it's just a pair of shorts not a separate attachment, not that type of doll. The Groin area is great for practicing knee kicks, useful if someone strong grabs you.

I read that Bob tends to tip over when you punch him, this is generally because some people shove when they punch, anyway I filled my Bob with rocks and placed a rubber bath mat under the stand this way Bob is really heavy and doesn't mark the floor. I can punch Bob, choke him and even try and take him down to the ground.

Because of Bobs light colour he gets dirty, it's not a problem because of his smooth surface dirt doesn't stick well to him, washing him with a cloth and water does the trick every time.

I am really glad I purchased Bob. Overall really great fun, a weird item in a good way, I had a good laugh with this. I tend to be really picky about things but this is one of those products that you buy and recommend to everyone.

  4. This Bob comes with a groin and this makes all the difference. When in a fight if your opponent is a male if you strike him hard in the groin you will weaken him greatly. Then punch him in the nose very hard, repeatedly. As a Bob, I am not offended by this product because there are evil Bobs in the world in addition to good ones like myself. Liberate your mind from victim psychology and train hard.

  5. I use my Bob XL as part of my cardio fitness routine. It's very easy to raise your heart rate with fast punches and combos to poor old Bob.
Mine is located in the garage and is filled with sand and then when i couldn't fit any more sand in i topped off with water. Took a good 2 hours to fill with sand due to the small fill cap, would have been easier if i had had dry, free flowing sand.
It is extremely heavy, i can barely push it along the floor so i wouldn't recommend it if you need to regularly move it out of the way.
I weigh 215 lbs, can bench 315lbs and I can't get it to budge with hard punches. It sits on a concrete floor, may be different on a polished wood surface.
I recommend this model over the standard Bob, it's heavier and has more target areas to hit.
I would advise wearing bag mitts when hitting Bob with any force, especially due to the moulding of the face it is easy to bruise knuckles.
If you are into martial arts/boxing then nothing can replace a decent heavy punch bag for developing punch power but for average hitters like myself or for those who need a quality fitness workout then the Bob Xl comes highly recommended!

  1. I read about earlier reivews before placing the order. I realized that the previouse customers were complaining about metal chains instead of nylon straps shown in the picture. I thought what the hack, i can work with metal chains... however, mine arrived without any chains, webbing system, or double ended attachement as described in the product features... Just the bare bag itself!! How am i supposed to use it? I checked local stores online, none close to me sell those chains, which means i have to go back to amazon and buy my set of chains??

  2. Great price, but not what's described *at all*

    The description:
    * Constructed from durable and long-lasting synthetic leather
    * Specially blended filler provides resilient shock absorbency
    * Double End attachment for greater resistance
    * Adjustable chain to accommodate all size of users
    * Redesigned with durable and safe webbing system

    The reality:
    * Constructed from vinyl canvas-like material
    * Filler is rags 'n' bags - pretty much what you'll find in any low end bag, so fine
    * No double end attachment whatsoever
    * Comes with a chain and hooks - I guess it's "adjustable," so fine
    * No webbing, but stitched on triangular eyes for the standard s-hook attachment

I bought this for floorbag mobility and GnP stuff, so none of this bothers me at all except the fact that it's canvas. Sliding around on canvas in shorts and short sleeves = carpet burn city. It'll still work, but in retrospect I wish I would have spent a few more dollars for an actual synthetic leather bag.

  3. Amazon is the best, I buy stuff from it all the time and I'm always happy with the product I recieve. They ship fast. I looked around for a while for a heavy bag that was around 70-80 pounds for the best deal and Amazon had it. I will always give 5 stars on price. This is a good heavy bag. It's heavy enough to where it stays put for the most part, and it's not too heavy to where it becomes a workout just moving the bag. I recommend good gloves when using this. Don't go with the cheapest gloves you can find. If your going to spend $70+ on this, you may just as well spend a little bit on a good pair of gloves. Your hands will thank you.

  4. It's a heavy bag filled with heavy mystery stuff. How can you go wrong.

The bag I received has four metal attachments for chains, rather than nylon straps. Chains were included and I actually prefer this arrangement; still I could see how someone planning on hanging the thing a certain way might be a mite upset.

This bag is far more dense at the bottom than top, so settling of the mystery stuff can be a problem. I noticed when, after beating at face level for a while, I decided a low punch. Several uncomfortable moments resulted.

  5. This is a nice bag, it arrived in 2 business days and in good shape. The bag has a good feel, and the nevatear fabric seems like it will hold up well. All in all, I would give it five stars if it were the same bag that was described in Amazon's add. However, it is not. The bag I received is not double ended and it does not have nylon straps at the top as you see in the picture. It's still the most economical buy in heavy bags on Amazon, but I probably would have ordered a different bag had I known that I was getting a standard bag with chains on top and no bottom tie down provision.
