- I followed some of the tweaks that were suggested and it works well with no problems. Very easy to install.
- After reading the reviews here I was a little skeptical, but being "handy", I thought I could make this unit work. I was right.
Aside from the items in the packaging I used these additional items: A roll of electrical tape, a carabiner, a utility knife, stud finder, socket set, drill.
My bag is a 100 lb Everlast.
I did it like this:
1. Use stud finder to locate a beam. Note: Stud finder kept going off when it touched my skin, but you may not have this problem.
2. Cut away small rectangle of drywall on ceiling the size of the device.
3. Use device to mark hole locations on beam, and pre-drill pilot holes into them to keep beam from splitting.
4. Per instructions, assemble two pieces of unit with center pin, leaving some play in the screw/bolt for movement.
5. Wrap horizontal screw in black electrical tape to keep bag chain from wearing out the screw. Put screw through assembly. Secure bolt.
6. Loop the carabiner through the top of the chain/strap that supports the bag. This allows for easy setup/tear down if needed.
7. Use a chair under your leg to balance the heavy bag on top of, clamp carabiner to horizontal screw.
DONE!
- this product is great it is my basement as your reading this and is holding my 80 lb bag with ease. i would definitely recommend it.
- Fast shipping and good quality at the best prices. I've bought from Amazon many times and I am almost always completely satisfied with the product. They describe exactly what you'll be getting. This is a good mount for a heavy/ punching bag. It works well and easy installation (2 screws). Comes with everything you need. However you might want to put a locking nut on the bolt that holds the two halves together instead of the one they give you. I tightened it up, but I punched it loose and I just tightend it back up. This only happened once, I maybe just didnt tighten it up that great the first time. Still might be a good idea if you have this as a problem though. I used it on my 80 lb bag and it worked well for that. The screws they give you hold pretty good. It's a good mount.
- It will hold a bag up, but you could probably buy a couple bolts at any hardware store and create a mount just as good. Since this setup was cheap, I'm not complaining, but if it doesn't spin, I don't see the point of buying this.
I recommend spending $5 more and getting the Everlast Professional Swivel, which is more specifically designed for a punching bag.

-
I upgraded to this swivel about 3 months ago. After reading posts here I was curious to see how I would do with the upgrade, and have to say... I did fine.
It is certainly faster than the S-Hook that came on my TKO Heavy Bag Stand, but I have no problem with it.
Now I think I need to upgrade to a smaller bag and a better mount.
- This swivel is my first so I'm kind of bias but based on all the 4 and 5 star rave reviews I figured I'd try it. I sure am glad I did... as should you if you're thinking about it. The only catch is how to put on/ replace a bag... but look it up on the internet and you'll see it's easy... all you need is a pair of needle nose pliers.
- In my opinion this is the best swivel for the money. It is durable, easy to set up and works just great. Good buy.
- A great solid swivel. Just very loud. Sounds rickety even when in a nice fast groove with the bag.
- I bought this swivel because the one that came with my Everlast Speedbag Kit was worthless. it is a round moulded plastic ball with a metal hook screwed into it. Problem is, when you hit the speed bag a few times- the hook unscrews from the plastic ball- and the bag went flying!!!. Get this one- it works great. very easy to install- no problem. Worth the money. Trust me.

- Got the stand for my husband for christmas, shipping was quick, product in excellent condition, great quality. Very satisfied. Thanks.
- Bought this for my 200 lb. husband, and he loves it. It fit our space perfectly, without taking up a huge amount of room, and it doesn't move around with punching. He hasn't had any problems with it moving.
- I had read mixed reviews on this item but decided to take the chance on it and purchased it 6 weeks ago. I am glad I did. The package arrived on time, well packaged and all of the parts there. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Assembly went very quickly.
The main reason I purchased this is it is made with square tubing instead of round. This gives you a stronger stand than the cheap 'swing set' type pipe and the square tubing lays flat on the floor not just touching at one point as with the round pipe stands.
Also it has a wider 4-point weight footprint for more stability. The commonly found 3-pt footprint made for less stability on the backside, unless you limit your range of motion around the bag, which causes wobble even with weights and sandbags. Wider footprint does not mead less usable bag access. You are still able to use for punches and kicks covering about a range of 260 degrees of the unit. You will still need to use bags of sand to stabilize the unit as we have found no amateur stand that weights alone will hold down. But bags of sand are cheap at any Home Depot or Lowe's building center.
My grandson, 10, uses a 40 lb bag with double-ended tie downs for his TaeKwonDo practice. My son uses an 80 lb bag for his. The adjustment for the height is easily done for grandson using the speedbag. We have found this unit to be more functional than others we have had in the past (round pipes bent on 2 others within a month). We are well pleased.
- I purchased this as a gift for someone along with a bag. He has made no complaints and loves the item. That is the best I can tell you about this item.
- I ordered this item showed in the pic with four legs but I end up getting the three support legged one, I decided to keep the wrong item because the seller wasn't very supportive and clueless about the items they have. The only reason I gave a two even thou they sent the wrong item that I was kinda of satified with the one they sent me.

3 comments about Century Heavy Bag / Speed Bag Stand.
- The product was pretty easy to assemble. I did it myself in about 20 mins - I'm no handy man. I didn't bother putting up the speed bag post, so I can't really comment on that. I put about 75 lbs of weights and I'm using a tear drop bag. No movements, maybe very little, if any.
- Everlast sold an apparently identical stand, only painted black. It has the same features, base, and design. It seems Everlast has a new design, though, so I'll review mine here.
This stand is flawed. The heavy bag holder may barely work with a 40 pound heavy bag, but that's about it. Any strikes to a 70 pound bag and this stand will start walking around. Forget about kicks. It would run away and you would probably trip on the weight plate holders and cut your forehead. It would be embarrassing to tell people you were beat up by a heavy bag.
For additional stability, many people recommend cheap bags of sand or rocks available at the local home improvement store. I used three 50 pound bags by removing the weight plate holders and laying the bags over the legs. Definitely recommended and kicking is then possible. Hint on heavy bags: take it off and put it upside down for a few days. Occasionally hit the bottom to loosen the filler.
The speed bag platform is also a mess. Way too much sway and the swivel is a joke. Why did the chicken cross the road? To get away from the speed bag swivel. Alan Kahn (The Speed Bag Bible) recommends a simple ball swivel and I had an extra one. Much better but the sway still kills this. So I put two clamps to hold the speed bag arm to the heavy bag arm. The result is not as good as a wall mounted platform, but somewhat usable. Another option is to hang a Double End Bag or Headache Bag on this side of the stand. With the new swivel, it's easy for me to switch between a speed bag and a headache bag.
- The Heavy Bag/Speed Bag stand is a good piece of equipment. The heavy bag part of it definitely requires add'l weight (hint: bags of sand are much cheaper than the amount of barbell plates you'll need to keep this thing from moving - I use 200 pounds of bags of sand to keep it in place. I was able to get these for about $2.50 a piece from Home Depot. Also be sure you get a double end heavy bag too (i.e. one with a bottom D-ring), otherwise you'll get too much bag swing. Try to get a heavy bag with a foam liner. Some of the cheaper bags are like punching a rock, which won't do wonders for your workout enthusiasm.
You can also put a true double end light bag on this portion of the unit, which is a nice change of pace from the heavy bag. (The light double end bag is the small inflatable that has two bungees holding it at about chest level and reverberates like mad when you hit it.) It will occasionally smack the center support, which makes a lot of noise, but otherwise has no ill effects.
The speed bag platform is a bit flimsy, especially on the earlier versions of this model where the "drum" or rebound board is two pieces (the latest versions of this model use a single piece drum). If you become moderately proficient at the speed bag in any amount of time you'll outgrow this aspect of the unit. Part of the problem is that the single vertical pole to which the speedbag drum attaches will flex when you get the bag moving really fast, and that can throw off your timing. Use the smallest size speed bag possible to minimize this inertia. Lastly, the speed bag platform doesn't really adjust high enough for people over 6'2" in height, and if you're over 6'1" or so you're going to need to use a small or xtra small speed bag to have it hang at the correct height (i.e. belly of bag at mouth/chin level).
