5 comments about LifeSpan Fitness R3 Recumbent Bike.
- I ordered this bike to help my wife rehabilitate from 4 months in the hospital. Being a recumbent makes it easier and more comfortable to sit in than a regular exercise bike.
Putting it together was somewhat difficult as I was doing it by myself. If you have some help it should be no problem. That aside all the parts were in separate labeled packs that matched a different area of the bike. No parts were missing. All tools needed were included (screwdriver, hex wrenches, etc.). The bike has built in leveling devices for use on a hard surface. The bike is well constructed and is absolutely silent when in use (after about a month of daily use by my wife and myself).
The bike features an electronic program for various difficulty levels and terrain. No matter what shape you are in you will be able to push yourself or take it easy if need be. The screen shows calories burned, speed, time and levels.
The heart rate meter is in the handle bars next to the seat. It's OK but you need to get sweaty before it works well.
- Been using for 4 weeks now. Only recumbant that has support for laptop computer. I watch DVD's and read email while cycling away. Excellent choice of programs, resistance, duration. Very quiet. Can actually ride quietly in bedroom without awakening partner. Strong construction. Aesthetic appearance. Would definitely recommend ! Quality of gym models.
- I researched the internet for two months before deciding on this recumbent bike. I was going to buy a treadmill, then an elliptical - because I am overweight and have had two knee surgeries I needed something that would be easy on the knees and back. Look no further - this product is everything and more for the person with bad knees, bad back and excess weight that needs to be lost in a comfortable and healthy manner. Unfortunately, I ordered it and Amazon then had to cancel as it went out of stock. Then I went to another place and it was cancelled for being out of stock. I called up the company directly to ask about the R2 and was told that they had one R3 left. I got it for 699 including shipping. I received it within 6 days. I put it together in less than an hour and the ride is smooth, quiet and I work up a good sweat - look no further - this is the product you want.
UPDATE:
I'm updating this on August 1, 2008
I started using the bike 2 times a week, then 3 times a week, now I use it every other day and working up to 6 times a week. I started using it for 10 minutes and have now worked my way up to 35 minutes a day. I'm losing weight and inches. (I'm also watching what I eat and drinking lots of water) This bike is worth the money so invest in yourself and buy this one.
- I got the bike on the Super Saver shipping which meant I had to wait longer for it, and thats ok except when I got it, it was missing parts, had some chewed up parts and was missing an important ingredient, the instructions.
So, Amazon was quick to get me another one ordered except I was going to have to wait another 7+ days to get it. I did get it though and everything was in this one, my opinion is the other one was a returned item that got sent out again. It was pretty easy to assemble, I did it myself. The bike works fabulous. I ride it everyday, my kids will ride it on days they need to cross train, my husband rides it while he watches tv on the weekends. Its very durable, there is no shaking back and forth when I get to riding it hard. My complaint about the bike would be that the heart rate monitor grips are really a joke. They are very inaccurate and I will probably buy the chest strap through the manufacturer that monitors it. Also, the manual has very little about the display, I had a code pop up on it and I couldn't use it, I had to unplug it and let it sit overnight and it was fine the next day. Nothing in the manual, about codes or troubleshooting. The bike is great but the manufacturer needs to get their act together. I would recommend this bike though to anyone looking for a good recumbent. Nothing at Dick's or Walmart or any crappy retail like that can even compare. Buy it!
- This bike is smooth and solid for the price. My only significant complaint is that the seat back gets a little squeaky, particularly when riding at the higher levels, due to increased force and body movement. The heart rate monitor is not very useful, as it counts up slowly to the final rate over a period of a minute or so, as opposed to giving an immediate readout. Otherwise, I think this is a really awesome, well-built bike for the price.

3 comments about Nautilus NR2000 Recumbent Exercise Bike.
- The Nautilus NR2000 is a very high quality recumbent exercise bike that fills a gap between the less expensive products widely available to home users, and the much more expensive commercial grade equipment commonly seen in health clubs. The NR2000 offers heart-rate controlled programs and wireless telemetry just like the fully featured health club machines, but won't look out of place in even the most fashion-forward home environment. I did run into a few minor glitches during assembly, but comparing the written instructions with the parts drawings and the actual parts revealed that the drawings and bike as shipped were accurate and in agreement; only some of the narrative was misleading. In using the bike, I found that the hard plastic pedals were slippery and my feet would creep and slide off the pedals no matter how tightly the supplied straps were adjusted. Instead, I equipped the bike with a pair of 1/2" male to 9/16" female pedal adapters (Kneesavers) and a set of Look-style clipless pedals. Wearing rigid sole cycling shoes with Look-compatible cleats, my feet snap right into the pedals and stay comfortably in place even during vigorous exercise. Although I had to invest another $150 or so to make the bike work well for me, I still consider it a very cost-effective investment considering the years of service and health benefits it will undoubtedly provide. And as always, the purchase from amazon.com was painless, including the best experience I've ever had with a truck freight delivery to my home.
Pros -
Stability, silent operation, flexible programs, cosmetic appearance, perceived quality
Cons -
Pedals (comparable to competing products), requires external power (some machines generate power from the user's activity), assembly instructions should be updated/corrected
- Purchased NR2000 online thru Amazon and price was less than other sites on web and qualified for free shipping--that was the good part. The assembly instructions were incorrect and the listed screws needed to attach plastic cover on front end of bike was wrong size and they had included the correct size screw without telling you of their error. Consequently,I contacted customer service by phone and told them screw listed was missing and they instructed us to send an email thru product registration and assigned me a registration number and told me they would then ship the "missing screws". They never responded to the email and after a few days we decided to proceed with the rest of the assembly and discovered their error and attached cover with the smaller screws they had supplied without explanation of their use. Worse of all after finally assembling bike we tried to attach power cord and discovered the attaching piece for power cord inside the bike could not be seen on front of bike and was bent off to side. We could have returned it but it would have ben a major hassle after assembling the bike. Instead I was able to bend the defective metal inside front casing back to its proper position with some effort and reassembled front casing and the bike seems to work fine.I expected a higher quality product from nautilius and better customer service--I am sure this was not the first time people called them about this problem and they at the least should have included a supplemental instruction note to correct their assembly book errors or better yet write a new instruction book.
- The bike works great. Exactly as advertised. Putting it together took about an hour and was pretty easy. Everything fit together perfectly.

- Spirit XR895 Recumbent Exercise Bike Trainer
The good:
Price - the best price I could find anywhere else was $1200 + shipping for this bike. I paid $999 w free shipping. In the research I did I could not find any other bike under $1000 that had the specs that this one does.
Delivery - the bike arrived almost a week ahead of the estimated delivery time. I kept on eye on the tracking status and called the trucking company (CEVA) as soon as I saw that it had arrived in my area. They very helpful and scheduled a delivery appointment for the next day, which was a pleasant surprise.
Assembly - the effort and steps required to assemble the bike were easier than I expected. I completed the assembly in less than 2 hours. The parts were organized logically and the directions were clear for the most part. It was nice that they included the required screwdriver and wrenches as well.
Quality and comfort - this bike looks and feels good. I tested several bikes while doing my research (including some in local gyms) and this bike holds it own very well against the other bikes I tested. I'm a big guy (6'3" 290+) and like the large seat, mesh seat back and wide pedals. Very nice.
Warranty - this bike comes with one of the better warranties I found: lifetime frame and brake, 5 years on other parts and 2 years labor.
The not so good:
Once I had the bike fully assembled, I sat down to try it out. I adjusted the seat back to a comfortable reclining position, then adjusted the seat as far back as it would go to accommodate my height. To my dismay, as soon as I started pedaling the seat started slipping down 1 or 2 positions at a time until it was at the bottom of its range. I searched in vain for an answer to this problem and found nothing in the literature or online that could help me solve the problem.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement, especially since it took almost 2 hours to get to the point that I could see the problem. Reluctantly I emailed Amazon to tell them there was a problem. I also sent an email to the manufacturer (Spirit Fitness) describing the problem. I received the bike on a Saturday afternoon so knew there was not much that I could do until Monday.
Amazon replied and indicated their willingness to replace the bike or provide a refund. While exactly what I expected, I was not happy about the thought of taking the bike apart, shipping it back to the manufacturer, then waiting for another to arrive. I decided to wait and see if I heard from the manufacturer before taking the next step.
Early Monday morning I was happy to see a reply from the manufacturer in my inbox. The email included instructions for a simple adjustment intended to correct the problem. 5 minutes after receiving the email I was done with the adjustment and verified that the problem was fixed! It would have been nice if this information had been available on the manufacturer website, but I give them credit for replying quickly and resolving the problem without my having to return the bike.
I could not be happier with this purchase and highly recommend you give this product a look if you're in the market for a quality recumbent bike.
- I purchased the Spirit XR895 Recumbent Exercise Bike for my wife who has arthritic knees. She used a similar (but different) bike recently during doctor prescribed therapy, but she has found the XR895 to be just as effective as the professional type. In particular the recumbent seat is sufficiently comfortable so that exercise sessions are not dreaded at all.
In addition, the Amazon price was better than we could find anywhere, either over the internet or locally. The real clinchers were the free shipping and no sales tax. Delivery by truck directly to our home was especially nice.

1 comments about Ironman Charger Recumbent Exercise Bike.
- About as good as it gets for home equipment. Took me a very leisurely 2 hours to assemble, but someone stronger, younger, more fit would do it faster.
The design is first rate, this bike is comfortable, silent and extremely well made.
A big step up from my Stamina folding semi-recumbent.
http://www.amazon.com/review/R1KHYDKCUDS7UB/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1KHYDKCUDS7UB
My only small beefs are these: they supply 18 washers and the instructions require 22! (strange) about 1.5 inches of the mesh fabric on the back is coming apart on mine on the first day (!) so I am hoping (and expecting) Ironman will simply replace that part; and it takes the heart rate monitor 15-20 seconds to get to the accurate rate (somewhat slower than a gym machine).
Should last for a good long time.

5 comments about ISG8150 (Each) Color Chrome.
- My wife and I were very pleased with our chrome cycle. Easy to pedal and relaxing to use. We normally sit in a comfortable chair and pedal for up to 30 minutes. As seniors, we don't go to fast but it does keep our joints in better condition. Since we don't really speed the unit does not move. It was an inexpensive purchase and easy to put away after using. A lot better than purchasing an expensive exercise bike.
- I'm disabled and have a hard time getting to the gym. I also live in a cold climate and cannot get outside often. I can use this anywhere in my home. It is great for both the arms and legs. Great product for the price
- My wife has bad knees and on her last visit to the doc he said if she didn't take a certain supplement and use an exercise bike 20 mins a day that she will be in a wheelchair in 'bout 10 years. She didn't want a whole bike becasue it's too hard on her back, so when she found this, she knew it was just perfect. She can do her exercises while sitting on the couch. It has no tension either and that's also a good thing for her. She just needs to move her knees not put tention on them. She is very happy with this product.
- This is so not worth the money. I bought it after our team leader at weight watchers suggested we all try it while watching tv. It was a poor workout, barely did anything. The tension can only be tightened a little and there is no resistance. I should have spent a little more and gotten a better model. I ended up selling this at a yard sale two weeks later for $4. Pass on this particular one.
- It seems to be of good quality, for the price, but there's one thing that it falls short on: the pedal resistance isn't very hard. It's ok if you are looking to move your legs around, but if you want to burn some calories or strengthen some muscle, this isn't the model. Even as tight as I could turn the knob it wasn't that hard to pedal.

1 comments about Kurt Pro Trainer with Rock and Roll Frame 2007 MOdel.
- I've been riding the Rock & Roll for several months now to supplement my road riding. I was a little hesitant about the rocking feature initially. As it turns out, the default stiffness setting doesn't move nearly as much as I was expecting. Of course, you can loosen the resistance for more motion, or really tighten it down for even less.
My main concern was longevity of my bike frame and I feel like having a little bit of give in the trainer will help prevent damage. I'm not small at 200lbs so a little give is a good thing.
The resistance unit itself is smooth and operates with a relatively little noise. Our house is very open and I ride directly below our bedroom. My wife has never been awakened by the trainer.
I chose to purchase the model with the additional flywheel. I use it when I'm doing consistent pace riding. If I want to do intervals I almost have to remove it to prevent tire slippage. Not a problem, since most people would prefer less flywheel effect for intervals anyway.
Summary:
This is a quality tool that will definitely help you pack on the training miles. The rock & roll feature is not crucial, but is a worthwhile feature if you have the extra money to spend.

3 comments about Schwinn Triple-Link Pedals.
- I bought this pedal for my bodycycle stationery bike. It fits well, it looks good and I like that its capable of using spd shoes or regular sneakers. I would recommend this to anyone. What a great product!!!
- I am a spin instructor at my schools gym and all of the bikes we have use these pedals. They are a good concept but have some issues. For one thing, my spd shoes didn't fit the spd side of the pedal, so I had to use my look style shoes. Second, the look pedal is very loose and I'm not sure how to tighten it, which brings me to my main point and reason for writing this review. The customer service for these pedals is atrocious. A screw came out of the back of one of the pedals at the gym I teach at, so I called Schwinn to get information about how to repair it instead of purchasing a whole new pair. They told me that the pedals are not actually made by Schwinn but only carry the Schwinn logo so they therefore have no documentation on the pedals. Furthermore, I was told that they don't even have the name of the company that manufactures the pedals, which seems ludicrous to me. I was told that there was really nothing they could do and that my best course of action would be to buy a whole new set. Pretty convenient that the only solution is to send more money their way.
- The bike is very dificult to pedal I think the wheel is not balanced and was probably damaged while in delivery

- Don't buy anything less; this machine is solid, comfortable, and if exercise can be pleasurable this thing does it. I'm delighted with the purchase and guarantee you'll be satisfied. Just be prepared for some assembly time; nothing serious but maybe 20 minutes to get it working. This one is the best.
