  1. Product is very well designed, quiet to use, and takes up a minimal amount of space. Shipping time was excellent.
You should be aware that if you are working out on a wood floor, the product will slip forward on the floor. The problem is aggravated if you are sitting on a chair with wheels. Solution: Put the cycle in front of a wall or other heavy object.

  2. I bought this for an older woman, she was quite pleased with it. However, you should mention it needs to be put together!

  3. I was very disappointed in this product and ended up returning it. One of my magazines rated it highly, but I thought it was flimsy. I tried it and it went right back in the box.

  4. I purchased this for an elderly parent that is rehabbing at home. He was able to use it right away with his legs and put it on a table to use it with his arms as well. There is a timer that lets him know how long he has excercised and it has a tension adjustment to use as he improves. Very good product.

  5. this is a good cycle, but the only thing i don't like about it is that the time counter attached to the bike cannot be reset. this design doesn't seem to make any sense to me. Had I known this, I would have opted for the less expensive version of the bike.

  1. After reading several reviews about the shipping and computer issues with this bike, I was hesitant to order. However, based on past experience with Amazon, I decided to proceed. CEVA was the shipper and the box did arrive partially open (the local shipper to the final destination was Eagle Logistics). The straps used to hold the box together had slid to one end. This allowed the opposite end to partially open and tear. Inside, the bike was packed in styrofoam so it was undamaged despite the problems with the outer packaging. Assembly was straightforward and the computer hook-up went well and works with no issues. Note: once you pull the computer cables up through the handlebar column, it is difficult to push it back down in order to connect the display pad to the handlebar column. If we had not pulled through quite as much spare cable, this part of the assembly would have gone smoother.

  2. This is a wonderful design that works very quietly and extremely smoothly. It is well constructed, easy to move around, and very comfortable to sit in. The price is reasonable for the features offered.

    I would highly recommend it.

  3. Short version:

PROS: Enough resistance for EVERYONE (you won't out grow this bike!), nice mix of programs plus a manual feature, intuitive and easy to use controls, comfortable seat (and I'm pretty wide)

CONS: Does not pick up signal from wireless heart rate monitors :(

    Long Version:
I am a 25 year old grad student who used to be in good shape but noticed myself becoming increasingly softer and wider as I spend more and more time in front of a computer for my studies. I had been jumping rope after I got home, but ended up injuring my Achilles tendon and noticed pain in my knees due to the impact. I switched to riding my bike around the neighborhood, but became too saddle sore to ride and I couldn't ride when it was cold/hot/rainy/early/late/etc. So, I looked at ellipticals and recumbent bikes so I could build a reliable exercise regimen which would give me the endurance/strength benefits I needed without the wear and tear on my body or concern for weather.

I settled on this because ellipticals of similar quality were far more expensive. I have had the bike for 3 months now and am VERY pleased with it. I work out 3 or 4 times a week, normally using the strength interval training program. I currently work out with the max resistance only about half of that the bike is capable. Any higher and I can't maintain the 60+ rpms that provide optimal heart workout. This might sound like the bike doesn't have enough resistance, but I'm a big guy (250 lbs) and I backpack and hike regularly. I have VERY strong legs and can't use the bike set above half it's max resistance. That tells me that the bike has PLENTY enough resistance.

The bike operates flawlessly. The mag resistance and weighted flywheel give smooth, even, and silent resistance. I watch TV while I ride and I don't have to turn the TV up.

I'm 6 ft tall and someone a few inches than me could fit on this bike, similarly, someone much shorter could slide the seat forward and use it w/o problems.

My ONLY complaint with this bike, is it isn't compatible with my heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor on the grips is ok, but I take my hands off to wipe sweat or change the tv channel and it goes to zero. Also, it takes some time to get back up to an accurate reading (30 seconds), so it's not as accurate a workout using the grip heart monitor. I don't understand why Schwinn didn't give it the option of receiving wireless HRM signals. If they did, this would be the PERFECT recumbent bike. As it is, I still think this is the best one out there!

  4. I HAVE ALREADY RETURNED THIS PRODUCT. AMAZON HAS CREDITED MY ACCOUNT. THE BIKE WHICH REQUIRED ALMOST TWO HOURS TO ASSEMBLE WAS DEFECTIVE. IT CLANGED IN THE LEFT FOOT 10 O CLOCK POSITION. EVERYTHING I READ IMPLIED THAT IT IS A DEFAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER--CHINA. IT IS ONLY A SCHWINN BY NAME AND NOT OF THE QUALITY OF MANY YEARS AGO.

  5. The bike is excellent. Very quiet (almost silent) and easy to use. This bike gives a great workout, and is worth the price.

Amazon's price is the cheapest I could find, and with free shipping, it was the best deal. Amazon sent it by CEVA; some people said that they had problems with this method of shipment, but my experience was great. It took about a week and a half, and I had to be home during the four hour delivery window, but it was worth the $75 I saved on shipping. The bike arrived in good shape and was easy to put together.

5 comments about Confidence Foldable Stow Away Exercise Bike.

  1. After reading the other reviews posted here, I ordered this bike on 6/18 and received it on 6/20 (today!). Put it together easily in 1/2 hour, and put the first 2 miles on it - at level 8 - in another 10 minutes. I was looking for an indoor cycle I can use after I have surgery which will prevent me from cycling outside for a few months. Also wanted something to ride in the winter when it's too cold and snowy outside. I can not only ride this bike as fast or as slow as I like, but I'll be able to hold a book or watch a movie and still be cyclin'! Level 8 is perfect, with just enough resistance to make me work at it. I can pedal my little heart out and work up a sweat or take it easy and still feel it. I found the seat to be well padded and comfortable. Not for the hard-core cyclist, but for someone just starting out - or with a need like mine - it's a nice unit.

  2. It does what it is advertised to do -- it is a compact exercise bike (it is not appropriate for a tall person ... my wife is the prime user). It doesn't fold much at all so that little claim is not too good but it has a good range of exercise and it isn't too bad to put together (although I found the directions a bit confusing).

  3. This bike was easy to assemble and is solidly constructed. The
magnetic resistance is sufficent for all but the extreme exerciser.
The seat is comfortable so no need to buy the recommended gel seat
that did not fit anyway. I highly recommend this bike.

  4. The tension on this bike (1-8) does not go high enough for me to get a good workout. I like to do interval training, but this will only be good for low, slow cardio. Also, my monitor does not work properly, only half the numbers show.

Other than that, the bike seems sturdy and quiet. (But the directions for putting it together reek!) I think the seat is fine, but I got the Sunlite Cloud Nine cover, and it fit perfectly.

  5. The exercise bike arrived within 2 business days, which was a pleasant surprise. The instructions take some time to follow, but the diagrams help a lot. It is surprisingly quiet and built well. I agree with the other reviewers that the pedal radius tends to be small. I am 5'9" and weigh 168lbs.
The one problem that stuck out right away was the tension settings. Even at the highest tension setting (8), I was able to pedal without much effort. If you work out regularly, this bike may not provide the tension you're looking for. But for casual fitness fans this bike fits the bill just fine.

5 comments about Schwinn 231 Recumbent Exercise Bike.

  1. I was searching for an exercise bike and tried a few in the local stores, but they all seemed very cheap and unstable. Then there were the stores that had fantastic exercise bikes, but were all above $1200. I decided to search online and quickly came across the Schwinn 231. I'm very glad I came to Amazon and found these reviews. After reading all the reviews, I decided this was the bike for me.

The first glitch was Amazon not passing my phone number to the shipper. Amazon has my number on record, but the shipper never got it. So my bike actually sat for two days in their warehouse before they could get a hold of me. They emailed Amazon who then emailed me and provided their number. It would also have been nice to be sent the shipper's phone number as soon as they knew who the shipper was. Once they had my number they delivered the next day. The shipper was ABF, and even though I was told this would be a curbside delivery only, the driver brought it right into my garage. The side of the box (just above where the computer panel is packed) was torn and punched in. The delivery driver helped me unpack all the parts to make sure nothing was broken (great guy!) and then I signed for it.

I assembled this myself in less than 90 minutes. It's really a piece of cake, the manual is written very well and the bolts and nuts are clearly identified. I wasn't short any parts, and none were left over. The only annoying part of the build was you have to remove the back seat panel after you have installed the seat onto the frame rail, due to the fact that it hides a wiring block that you need a step later. Just a couple minutes of extra work there.

The only thing that could be difficult for one person to do by themselves is when you are attaching the seat frame and rail back onto the bike frame, you have to reconnect a wire and stuff it into the frame, before you can set the whole assembly down. You could just as easily build the bike on its side to this point and then tilt it upright when done.

The only defect in my bike is the fan didn't work, which is very common. I called Nautilus' support line and they placed an order for a replacement part in just a few minutes. They just got a delivery of back ordered fans and I was told they are going into Q&A right now before they will be shipped. My bike didn't suffer from the smelly seat issue that many had, nor do my pedals or the fly wheel make any clunking sounds. The foot straps are easy to install, I don't understand why others had issues with this.

I think the bike rides really nicely. The resistance at level 16 is fantastic. I only wish Schwinn had a way for you to harness that power you generate when pedaling. There is a little bit of frame creaking when in use (but then I have a spare tire), and only the slightest amount of wobble on carpet. The bike is otherwise very stable and very quiet. I wish it was easier to adjust the seat distance (when you have more than one person using it). I like the water bottle holder under the seat. I also wish the support column for the computer angled forward a lot more, and possibly telescoped out to get the panel closer.

I highly recommend this bike based on its quality and appearance. I used the free shipping method and it arrived in 10 days (could have been 8).

Thanks Amazon for a great deal!

  2. As far as the comfort and feel of this bike, we are very happy. That is, when it is working! I will start with the statement that Schwinn customer support has been very easy to work with.
Item 1: The bike came in an undamaged box (wet though, in the middle of a snow storm) which we accepted. After we broke down the box to get it out we discovered that the front shroud was damaged. This was not discovered until we were almost done unpacking it. Schwinn sent us new parts. Wrong parts. They sent us more new parts. Still wrong. On the third try they got it right (sort of). There was a color change and the silver and black color scheme is reversed. That is why we had to change both sides even though one side was damaged. They were a very big job to change because we had to remove the pedals with a wheel puller.
Item 2: The blood pressure monitor quit working. They sent us complete new handle bars which contained the wiring. Works fine now.
Item 3: The transformer just died so the bike has no power. They are shipping us a new one.

I would like to restate that customer support is very good. The bike is registered so they can look up and see it is under warranty. However, If I had realized that Schwinn is no longer an American Co. and the bike was made in China, I may have shopped around some more. I really feel that we got a lemon since it came damaged and this is our second repair in 6 months.

  3. very good build quality, many programs and features. Only drawback is understanding the manual as to whta programs should be used and how. After a little experience, and research on the internet and all is very well!

  4. I bought this bike for my husband for Father's Day. I was worried about putting it together, and had our local bike shop on stand-by at their rate of $70 if I was unable to complete the mission. However, I found the directions to be easy to understand and follow. Every piece fit as it was supposed to and works perfectly, including the fan (which some people have had trouble with). It's quiet and smooth-riding. I think I'm going to enjoy it as much as he does. I'm 5' 1" and he's 6'...and we both can use it comfortably. Great product...and Amazon had the best price by FAR!

  5. It is well made and went together without problems. I just followed the directions. It is almost silent in use, all I hear is my huffing and puffing. Would highly recommend to anyone without reservations.

5 comments about Schwinn 101 Upright Exercise Bike.

  1. As a frequent purchaser of put-it-together-yourself items, I find that tools included for these items are usually cheap devices of a pressed metal variety. So, when I opened my horribly mangled box, I was not surprised at the lack of good solid tools included. Trying each tool once and noting the considerable wear on the tools each time I turned a nut or tightened a screw, I quickly scrounged in my local tool box and produced hearty tools that easily completed the job.

It took 1 hour to put the bike together myself and except for the lack of good tools the other components that came in the mangled and holey box, were of solid design. It is whisper quiet while in use and the bike has a fairly small space requirement. The seat was a little hard, but supportive, if you don't like hard seats you should order a seat cover.

If you purchase this bike keep in mind that you should have some good tools and a minimal understanding of bikes in general.

  2. This is the first time buying an exercise bike for me, and I wanted to make sure that my bike is of good quality. So far, this seems to be the case with my Schwinn 101. I was a little hesitant at first, because some of the reviews seemed negative. However, much of the criticism comes from the poor packaging and shipping, not from the mechanics of the bike itself.

Because I actually bought mine from a local store (for cheaper than the Amazon price), I was able to circumvent the shipping problems. Plus, the local store guys assured me that I could bring it right back if anything was damaged (the packaging was kind of flimsy) or missing. So I would recommend that if anyone is considering buying this bike to try getting it locally. It could save so many hassles.

Set up seemed easy enough (my husband did it for me in about 30 minutes). The bike seems sturdy and I like the sleek, simple design. For the first couple times riding it, I could hear a "ping" noise from the pedals, but I think this is gone now. I am very happy with the way the bike works (caveat: I've only had it for about 2-3 weeks)--I get some serious exercise from it. I'm impressed with how the handle bars count my pulse and the monitor display is helpful in knowing how much exercise I'm getting. Also, it's really quiet. I didn't think the water bottle holder would be a big deal, but it is! It makes hydrating so much easier, which helps me exercise better. The resistance also seems adequate. Mind you, I'm a small person without much leg muscle, but still, using one of the programmed exercises for 20 minutes kicks my butt! And the highest resistance level on these programs is 5 (out of 8 levels). All in all, I'm very happy with this bike helping me get regular exercise.

  3. After about 2 years of use, my Schwinn 101 bike failed for no apparent reason - all the resistance gave out. I figured out how to get the screws out of the plastic "shroud" that hides the inner workings, but could never get the shroud all the way off because I could not get it by the pedal assembly. Schwinnn provides no repair directions to help with that step, an don online search also proved futile since all the online manuals from Schwinn cover other topics.

Peering inside, I can see that the tensioning spring came off. But that can't be fixed with the shroud still in place. So, I've been stymied in the efforts to fix it myself and get back on to the bike ...
I have to say this is typically lousy modern design that fails to block failure, AND fails to make it simple to deal with the failure. So, I've now wasted 2 hours in futile repair efforts and have to go the gym each evening to bike until I can buy a new one. I will not buy another Schwinn !!!!!

  4. I purchased this bike for the Goldbox price of $239. Placed the order on Dec. 22, and it shipped on Feb. 15. Amazon did keep me informed as to order status.

Upon arrival the box was all beat to hell. Started assembling the bike and the left shroud was cracked. Wasn't about to pack all that back up and take to UPS for return. Called up Scwinn, or Nautilus, or whoever they are, to have a new shroud shipped to me. The gal was helpful and registered the bike for me. Then she asked for the serial number, the numbnuts drilled a rivet through the first digit of the serial number, but she guessed it should be a 3 for this model. I reminded her that I would need a crank puller to pull the crank arm off in order to replace the shroud.

I went on to assemble the bike. The pins in the front panel electrical panel connector had to be straightened with needle-nose pliers. Also found the left front base cover with the moving wheel was cracked. The shrould and gear puller did arrive in a few days.

Got the bike assembled in probably twice the time it should have taken due to the cracked shroud. So far, the bike appears to be stable and quiet. Longevity is a big question due condition the bike was received in.

  5. This is by far the best exercise bike I have ever owned. Easy to put together, easy to operate and extremely quiet. I am so glad that I purchased this bike.

  1. love this bike, it did come with directions to put it together and it probably took about 30 min for me to put it together. It works great. Can't beat the price.

  2. I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED THE AIR RESISTANCE TYPE OF EXERCIZER UNFORTUNATLY THERE ARE NOT TO MANY AROUND ANY MORE . THIS BIKE GIVES YOU A GREAT WORK OUT . THE FASTER YOU GO THE HARDER IT GETS .
THE ONLY DOWN SIDE I SEE SO FAR IS THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTROL THE AIR HITTING YOU AS YOU PEDAL . WHEN I START MY WORK OUT I LIKE TO GET HEATED UP. BUT THE COOL BREEZE EXTENDES THAT WARM UP TIME . I ENDED UP PUTTING A PIECE OF LEATHER ON THE FAN SHROUD TO BLOCK THE WIND. WHEN I'M WARMED UP I LIFT THE LEATHER TO LET THE AIR HIT ME. THE OTHER DOWN SIDE IS I DO FEEL IT ( THE PRESSURE ) IN MY KNEES A LITTLE BIT .
OTHER THAN THAT A GREAT MACHINE BUILT WELL

  3. I am very pleased with the Schwinn exercise bike. It was relatively easy to assemble with help, most of it came assembled. The price was the lowest I could find, with free shipping!Ordering from Amazon is the way to go.

  4. Love this bike,it's built solid.Easy to assemble, took about a hour or so.I found the seat not to be very comfortable. With diet and exercise on this bike I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks. I bought the Timex heart rate watch, and to my great suprise & pleasure I found it was comunicating with the bike computer. Now my heart rate is on the bike screen.I have it in my den and watch TV while working out. It's a bit noisy, but it's just a matter of turning the TV a little louder. The only problems I see is the uncomfortable seat and the seat height adjustment screw. If you want to change the height of the seat, you have to unscrew and then rescrew a long screw. It seems they could of devised a spring loaded snap in pin,for ease of use.Besides these minor glitches, its a great bike.

  5. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY EXERCISE BIKE. YOU GET A GOOD WORK OUT ON IT. THE PRICE IS GET.

  1. I just received my bike today and absolutely am 100% happy with my choice. I spent a long time looking for a bike that suited me and was comfortable. I was only able to try the 130 in person, not the 131. Bought the 131 from here and had it shipped 1 day (a great choice for this item). Sending it quicker had it bouncing around less, and with prior reviews, there was lots of damage in transit. The box came banged up, the styrofoam was broken, but the bike was completely fine. Maybe if I used standard shipping things would have been worse. It was easy to assemble by myself and I was using it within an hour. The programs are fun and challenging with various levels to choose from. The screen is so easy to read (even in a darker room). I highly recommend giving this bike a try!

  2. The first bike arrived damage and the replacement was also damaged. Now I have no bike and I am a frustrated customer!

  3. If you are looking for an easy to assemble, quiet bike, look no further. This bike went together very easy. It only took about 45 minutes to assemble. I use it in front of a large screen TV. During my exercise routine I make more noise then the bike does.

It clearly is not a racing trainer, or spinning bike, but it is very nice for the daily use I put it through. Lots of programs and levels to keep your training routine varied. Very happy with my purchase.

    Good Luck!

  4. The bike arrived via super saver in 2 days and in terrific condition. All the parts were there and the bike was fairly easy to assemble.

I've only been using it for a few days but this bike is definitely the best option in this price range. The drive mechanism is terrific and the workout programs (including the heart rate-controlled workout) are above comparable bikes. It feels sturdy for an inexpensive bike and the seat is more comfortable than the Lifecycle 9500 at my gym. Anyway, if you have a seat style you like all you have to do is screw it on--it has a standard post.

    Overall, a terrific buy.

  5. Was a little worried after reading other reviews of bad parts / super damaged boxes, super hard seats, etc, but all turned out well. The box showed up at my door early this morning, partially dented and torn, but nothing more than i would expect from any delivery company shipping a large box. Took just over an hour to setup and get riding, seat wasn't hard, and everything worked correctly on the bike... :) no complaints.

  1. Target had this bike for $98! With shipping, I paid a total of $135.74.

Despite positive reviews, I was concerned about the sturdiness of this bike, but turns out that my fears were unfounded. This bike is solidly built. The movement is smooth. The seat is the perfect height for me (and my legs are short - a 29.5" inseam) And the best part is that I didn't have to assemble it! I have to agree with other reviewers about the uncomfortable seat, but that can be easily remedied. The only other thing is that the computer readout does not have a storage function, so if you're tracking time, distance, speed or calories burned - make a note of them before you get off the bike because it resets to zero. I'd recommend this bike to anyone wanting to start an exercise program.

  2. Easy to assemble. Well made. Strong bike--handles husband's weight which is close to 250 pounds. Easy to read the read-out as you exercise. Seat hurts your bumm after 15 minutes, so we break our 30 minute riding time into two 15 minutes segments. Great value for the money!!

  3. This bike is worth the money. I have had it about three weeks and on the days I just want to sweat but not go out I use this. It was easy to set up and small enough to keep in the tool shed. I seems durable but at the price if it lasts a year I got my money out of it.

  4. This bike is reasonably priced and was easy to put together. It also is a quiet ride while watching my favorite tv shows. I am really enjoying this bike so far.

  5. Marcy PL-43211 This is a high quality well priced exercise bike for the price. I don't live near any big box stores and finding this bike, that included free shipping, saved me a trip off the hill and a half tank of gas.
After searching manufacturer and prices, I found this bike on Amazon. The other reviews clued me into the fact that this was a good bike for the buck! Those that wrote that they had problems with the cable assembly, just weren't paying close enough attention to the directions. It was really quite sinple.
Easy assembly and well written instructions had this bike up and running in less than 1/2 hour. The seat and handle bar adjustments are good for a sole user, but can be adjusted without too much effort if there is a second rider in your household.
I purchased mine to rebuild strength in my knee after surgery. The varible tension settings are easy to use and adjust, and this bike allows for a better workout along with quiet operation and a smooth ride.
I'd buy another in a heartbeat, but I think that this one will last for years!

  1. This product fell apart before it was even put together. The parts crumbled. It was even missing parts! I would never recommend this product to anyone!!!!

  2. The seat is very uncomfortable, and there are no gears in case I might want to challenge myself.Going to put all that aside and try to get the best work out I can,,,,Here comes the Summer....

  3. I am really happy with it the best thing I like about it, it tells me how many calories I have burned up, it was easy to assemble and I was surprised how fast I received it, it only took 3 days to get it. The only thing I don't like about it, I wish there was a way to adjust the tension on it.

  4. The pedals wore out after less than a year and I had to replace it.

  5. The Excel 286 took about an hour and a half for me to assemble, and it gave me a better workout than the Edge 386 did. It does have some resistance, but the resistance level was perfect for me. This bike has a small on-board computer that displays how many calories you have burned and the distance you have traveled. What I like most about this bike is that it's lightweight, it's an upright bike, and it has moveable handle bars that you can use if you want to work out your upper body. This bike will give you a good workout. You will get a better workout from this bike than from a standard bike that you use outside. It does make some noise. That's because it's a fan bike. How much noise does this bike make? A box fan makes about as much noise as this bike. The fan blades are necessary because they create the air resistance while you pedal the bike. You could buy a more expensive bike with magnetic resistance. Bikes with magnetic resistance are usually quieter than fan bikes, but the resistance doesn't feel natural on some of them. I bought the Edge 386 exercise bike two years ago. Pedaling the Edge 386 feels like I am working out on a machine rather than riding a bike outside. Many people get sick of exercising because they don't know how to exercise. They go to gyms and kill themselves by working out for two or three hours. That's ridiculous. Get on this bike and attempt to burn no more than 200 calories. You can do that in less than 20 minutes. Try burning 400 calories if you want a terrific workout. I've tried many different types of exercise over the years. I think biking is the best exercise you can get.

  1. I finally got around to putting this together and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do. It is quiet as the description promised. My only two complaints would be that the pedals hang in such a way that it's difficult to slip your feet in without the assistance of my hands propping the pedals up. I don't know if it was a design flaw or how I installed them, however, I didn't see another way. The other annoying feature is that it's hard to adjust the seat backward or forward. The frame doesn't slide easily when in adjustable mode. However, if you're the only one using it it won't be an issue because it will never need to be adjusted. Despite those issues, I'm very happy with my purchase.

  2. Pros:
    It's a recumbent bike for 200 bucks.

    Cons:
    Poor shipping container
Completely manual tension controls- no computer control
    Computer unit/programs are a joke/meaningless

I just bought the bike through Amazon. Shipping was about what I expected... the box was messed up. Stamina didn't design the packaging very well. The bike fits very tightly in the box resulting in one part pushing into the end of the box. This might not seem like a big deal, but under normal shipping conditions it is easy to imagine the bike being damaged. Indeed, that very piece was bent on mine almost to the point where I could not use it - I managed to get it assembled though rather than having to send it back.

A lot of people complained about the assembly... I don't really know why... it all looks pretty complicated, and they don't do a great job with the instructions, but ultimately the assembly boils down to screwing on the feet, back, seat and bars... it's not that hard... Unless yours is damaged in shipping, which cost me a half hour trying to bend the pieces back in place.

The bike itself is OK. It is nowhere near as quiet as people describe it online here... Sure, it's quiet, but if you've had a magnetic bike before, this will probably feel loud. I don't mean to make it sound horribly loud or something... but it's definitely not silent.

The construction itself isn't that great either... but that's to be expected on a 200 dollar bike.

Lastly, and this is good to note... ALL OF THE TENSION CONTROLS ARE MANUAL. I wasn't clear about this when I purchased it - though admittedly I should have been. The implication of this is that THE COMPUTER DOES NOT CONTROL THE TENSION. So, when you see all the descriptions about training programs and whatnot - they're all based on your speed. So the hill climb, for example, does not get harder... it just asks you to pedal faster. The reason I didn't even think of this as an issue was that I've actually never seen a device work like that before... I didn't even think of it as an issue.

I was debating between this and a bike at Walmart (embarrassing, I know), but in hind-sight, I think I'd have been better off with the other device.

On the whole, it works fine, it does what it's supposed to... and it's what I ordered. But the various issues with it have led me to think I'd have been better off getting something else.

  3. Assembly a snap...Arrived with package torn but everything there...Was apprehensive when reading reviews with parts missing but ours fine...Really a comfortable bike to ride...Being used a lot more than upright bike...Would recommend to anyone needing a cardio workout without a lot of stress on joints...

  4. Pro's: Quiet, Affordable, good height positioning

Con's: Needs more front-to-back pedal positioning points, monitor resets itself sometimes

I used to run every day, and loved it. My knees went out and I need to get in shape again. Gym membership costs too much. This bike was cheap and got good reviews. I ordered it and went to assemble it. I thought I was missing half the bolts so I called and got Stamina to ship them to me at no cost. Came 1 week later only to find out the bolts came with the bike, because some parts were sent with the bolts already screwd in. (They didn't say in the manual that you have to unscrew and rescrew the parts.)

I like the bike except for they did not make it with my height in mind. I am 5'6 and the front to back positioning was either too short so my knees would buckle or too far so I was slouching and my back would hurt. I will have to purchase a drill and make a new hole in between the two mentioned previously. Another gripe is that the monitor resets, however the resistance does not get affected so this is not a major concern. I like the low to ground positioning as it is perfect for my TV.

All in all this is the perfect bike if you are either 5'5 or 5'7.

    STAY MOTIVATED!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I ordered the Stamina 15-4800R Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike from Amazon.com on May 14 and it was delivered by UPS (at no shipping cost) on May 23. The box was in perfect condition; and all parts were included and well marked. The assembly instructions were easy to follow; and I was using it within an hour of delivery! The bike is very sturdy and well-made. The magnetic action is extremely smooth and nearly silent. The TV (which is easily seen due to the low profile of the bike) can be heard at normal volume while using the bike. For those who like to read while exercising, you have to hold the reading material because there is no book rack. The ONLY negative comment I have is the pedals, which turn upside down because of the weight of the strap making it difficult to properly insert your feet. This is one piece of exercise equipment that I will use every day. I highly recommend it.
