  1. I retired my ancient and boring compact bicycle (also Kettler) in favour of a Cross Trainer after if became my favourite machine at the gym. I am not a fitness fanatic but enjoy a 30-45 min daily workout and in winter, this is as good as it gets. When it comes to home machines, it pays to purchase the best model you can afford. This Trainer mimics the movements of cycling (upright) walking and stepping in one ... and it goes backwards too! The handles provide a decent upper body workout as well. It behaves like a professional machine, very smooth, quiet and sturdy. Foot plates are adjustable and resistance levels can be changed while you exercise. The training computer display is simple to use, easy to read and informative, it even tells you the temperature! I like the bottle holder in front, very handy. Accessories recommended: cardio pulse set. The hand grip sensors take a while to read pulse and as with many machines like this, not entirely accurate. I use a Polar belt & watch which are very reliable. Assembly can be tricky, reading the instructions 2-3 times is recommended plus a little patience. All worth it in the end!

  1. I love this machine. I just can't afford one of my own. I first became aware of it because the YMCA gym had only two ( I can see why with the $2500 price tag). I did an experiment: I would spend 10 minutes on three machines and see which one burned the most calories and raised the heart rate faster. I used this machine, an ordinary treadmill, and an ellipitcal w/without inclines. This machine beat out the others hands down in number of calories burned in 10 minutes. A wonderful workout. If you can afford it, your home gym should not be without this machine. It's far better than your average elliptical or treadmill.

  1. This review pertains to model number 55-2000, but should be reflected upon during consideration of any of Stamina's products.

After 3 years of normal use, the crank on the left pedal sheared off from where it connected to the pedal rail. This occurred while I was using it, but thankfully I was not injured during the incident.

Just to be clear, the crank itself snapped into two pieces. It did not come loose due to faulty assembly.

I weigh approximately 225 lbs, which is under the recommended limit of 250 lbs.

I was told by Customer Service that parts were only covered for 90 days and I would have to pay to replace the crank. They could've made more of an effort to keep an existing customer happy since this COULD have resulted in an injury, but Stamina did not seem to see it that way.

I was not filled with confidence concerning the quality of the machine based on my experience after only 3 years of use, so I declined their offer and purchased a recumbent bike from Schwinn.

However, I will give it two stars because it did perform well for 3 years. Hopefully, the newer models are built a little better.

  2. I purchased this Stamina Deluxe Elliptical , Aug 07 to use when I do not have time to hit the gym for a 2nd time in a day. It is a truly great buy for the money and worth every cent. It goes up to 16 levels of intensity and it is sturdy, and do not squeak . I had a friend that works at the local gym put it together. It took him under 1 hour. I was totally impress with the machine and how well he assembled the Ellip. This Ellip is just as good if not better than the Ellip machine in the gym. I m truly glad I took a chance with this vendor Stamina because I never heard of them. Buy this machine if you are looking for a quality Ellip . With Stamina Ellip you WIll NOT, AGAIN, YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG. I hoped my review helped .

  1. Overall the machine is decent for the price. You get what you pay for, but I bought this elliptical last September and within two months on of the wheels completely fell apart. I am well below the weight capacity for this machine so I wasn't really sure how this happened, but the company sent me two replacement wheels because parts and labor was still under warranty. Since then that part of the warranty has expired (its only 90 days) and I have now gone through four wheels on this machine and at the price of $18 a piece. To me that is a little too much to charge for a replacement wheel. This is the only real problem I've had with the machine. So if you don't mind replacing the wheels every 2 to 3 months than this is your machine.

  2. This machine was easy to assemble and took less than 90 minutes to put together by myself.
The machine is heavy-duty and the action is very smooth while offering effective resistance for a good workout. This machine is also very quite with very little noise.
I bought this model because it has heart-rate sensors on the handlebars which is a very big benefit when trying to burn fat effectively.
Unfortunitely, the heart-rate sensors do not keep accurate track of my heart rate. While gripping the handlebars during my workout, the heart rate read-out stays in the 80's range, even while my heart rate exceeds 120 BPM (beats per minute), even after adjusting my hand grip to several different positions, the heart rate was still not reading properly.
Overall a good machine but if your serious about burning fat, go with a better name brand so that the heart rate sensors work correctly.

  3. We've been using this elliptical for about a month now and are very pleased with the build quality and the low noise during use. It did take quite a while to put together, but the instructions and packaging were fantastic. The user interface is a little hard to get used to and somewhat simplistic, but do not impact the workout you get from it. We compared this to other machines up to $1,000 and liked this one the best. The price at Amazon was $100 cheaper than our local sporting goods store and that was before tax would have been added on. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

  4. I've been using this trainer for a couple weeks now and it has been great so far. Very smooth movement and the interface is pretty straightforward and simple to use. The preset programs work great for me (using the fat burning one currently to drop some unwanted LBs). The machine went together easily as well. There are a couple steps where having two pairs of hands will help out tremendously. Great machine, great price!

  5. I have used this thing almost everyday since I bought and really enjoy it. It is small, compact, and can still hold my weight which is 260lbs its limit is 275lbs. The downside is the display it has is very cheap and unimpressive. If you have to stop to answer the phone or go do whatever it resets everything within thirty seconds, which is kinda frustrating. The other thing I guess was the assembly. It wasn't hard, but I could see it being a problem for some people. Some of the parts took a bit of effort to get in correctly, but once everything is said and done it works fine for me.
