- To begin, we made the mistake of not paying the extra $175 for in-home installation. The instructions are somewhat incomprehensible and the list of parts is both incomplete and incorrect. We had to call Customer Service to request that they ship the missing pieces. They shipped the wrong pieces, so we had to call back and ask that they ship the right pieces again. Finally after 3 weeks we had what we needed to start building. When we decided we didn't like the machine, we were encouraged to know that we could get a 100% refund. Almost. What they don't tell you is that you have to pay the shipping costs for the return (which can exceed $400 due to the size and weight of the package) and that you must be able to return everything in the original packaging (which was much like a jigsaw puzzle). It's hard to comment much on the operation of the unit (except that the stride length is pretty short and you can't control the crossramp), but avoid Smooth Fitness because the customer service is terrible.
- I have had the Smooth CE Elliptical for 5 years now and I love it as much now as I did then. Like the previous rater I am so happy that I did my research on ellipticals. It is a reliable, smooth, sturdy machine that is perfect for home use and well worth the money. Plus you don't have to go to the club all the time(what a waste of time and money). I also liked the company,Smooth Fitness. I found them professional and very helpful with my purchase. I'm going to buy a benchpress from them if they still sell this type of equipment. I trust the company because they focus on selling quality machines. I highly recommend them and the elliptical.
- I bought this machine after using a different one in a gym for several months. After using it once, my knee was hurting (I have an old football injury) though the one at the gym never hurt my knee. After using it a few days later, my knee was really hurting. Tried it a third time later with the same result. My wife had no problems with it. You might consider a different one if you have previous knee problems. Just my experience.
- Beware! The foot pedals are about six inches apart, which can cause strain on hips, kness, and back. I began having a lot of pain in my knees very shortly after daily use of this machine. Most ellipticals tout the closeness of their foot pedals-- there's a reason for that! Do your homework-- I wish I had done mine! Your knees will thank you...
- My wife and I searched and searched for an elliptical because we were fed up with signing up for gym memberships and not using them. Having to go to the gym just wasn't practical for us. So we embarked on a quest to find the most quiet, reliable and feature packed elliptical we could. Our budget was 2K or less. Online research led us to this elliptical but we realized it just wasn't substantial enough when we tried a friend's. It was wobbly and not solid feeling. We visited fitness equipment stores and sporting goods stores. The fitness stores carried mostly high-end brands like Precor, which we liked, but was WAY out of our price range. Besides, after looking at the fine print, we noticed that Precors only come with a 1 year warranty. After that, the frame is good for 10 years but parts and labor are at the owner's expense! The sporting goods stores turned up the typical mass market brands like Reebok, ProForm, Horizon, Ironman, and New Balance. Most were pretty flimsy feeling and wobbly or the stride just didn't feel right. The Reebok ellipticals came close but they didn't offer wireless heart rate monitoring and the stride still wasn't quite right. At Dick's sporting goods we noticed one brand that we had never seen before, Sole. They had the E75 model on display and we tried it out. It was very solid feeling and the stride was natural. There was very little heel lift which is a key component for a low-impact workout - also, the foot pads are adjustable your taste which virtually eliminates heel lift. I was also pleased that the Sole elliptical had both pulse hand grips AND wireless chest strap heart rate monitoring. This is important not only to improve your endurance but also ensures a safer workout. There's also a great HRC program that varies the resistance based on your heart rate in order to maintain a constant heart rate. Since I'm not an impulse buyer I was still concerned that I had never heard of Sole before. Searching online only turned up reviews about their treadmills. It turns out that their ellipticals were just released which explained the lack of online references. Digging deeper, however, did yield a wealth of information about the treadmills and it turns out that Sole makes a very reliable product and their treadmills are well reviewed and used exclusively at Hilton and other hotel chains. With an endorsement like that I was sold. My online research did turn up the Sole treadmills site and I was happy to learn that I could order online with free shipping and no tax for NY. The delivered price was still 500 dollars below our budget! We also learned that the Sole ellipticals came with a great warranty, 2 years labor, 5 years motor and lifetime frame and deck. Not bad and twice as good as the Precor which was 3 times more price-wise. We also found a great review at soleellipticals.com which pretty much came to the same conclusion that we did. Sole ellipticals are the best ellipticals under 2K and they compete very well with the ones above 2K as well!

- The first 9 months that I owed this product it was unusable. The reed switch inside the hub was faulty so the display didn't work. The company sent a service tech out fairly quickly and at the time he discovered the faulty reed switch he discovered a screw inside the hub that had been put in crooked.
The technician informed the company of the parts he needed, exactly as listed on their diagram. The company sent out the wrong parts. This process repeated 5 more times. Parts come in, technician comes out to find wrong parts, new parts ordered, wash, rinse, repeat.
Finally the 6th time they sent parts out they sent the right parts. At this point my machine was outside the warranty period and I hadn't even used it yet. The machine worked fine for a couple dozen uses the it broke again. The reed switch once again moved out of alignment ad the display no longer works.
You get what you pay for with this machine. You are far better off spending more money on a Life Fitness or Precor machine or a gym membership for that matter.
- After much research online and in stores, I bought this elliptical for my daughter for Christmas. It was an excellent value, relatively easy to assemble, compact yet sturdy. The cup holder and fan were especially appreciated by my daughter. I loved the free shipping and speedy delivery. I would highly recommend this product and doing business with amazon.com!
- Contrary to what many other reviewers have said, I did recieve my Pro Form 825 Elliptical with all of the necessary pieces. Some have mentioned that parts were missing. It did take me 2 hours to assemble it and I'm really good at assembling things. I wasn't impressed with that. What I was really concerned with is getting back into shape. I'm not sure that this piece of equipment will cut it. It feels like you are falling forward while you are on this machine. It doesn't feel like being on an eliptical and it doesn't have a smooth pedaling motion. It is actually very jerky. The manual also recommends that you only pedal forward. Using this piece of equipment feels like being on a bicyle, without a seat, that has bad geers, going down a relatively steep hill. It also feels as though the only muscles being worked are my hamstrings. If you ever fell in love with one of those expensive elliptical like a PreCore at the Gym, then do not buy this product. You will be left very disappointed.
- I do not recommend buying this machine. It is wobbly at moderate to high speeds, the stride feels like you're plodding and there are few adjustments aside from increased difficulty. To its credit, your buns will get a fabulous workout due to the stride arrangement. If you have little monetary resources to allocate to a piece of exercise equipment, relatively low expectations on performance and few other alternatives then add to cart and proceed to check out. Be forewarned though, she's a rudimentary beast.
- Just received this product. Please be warned they have not taken care that the specialty bolts/hardware needed to assemble are packaged to take shipping. Even the packing foam was in pieces - I am missing parts and must now attempt to get them replaced. Very disappointing - be warned!!!
