  1. Maybe I should be more charitable than 3 stars for el cheapo bolts, for el cheapo crossbow pistols. These little crossbow pistols are a lot of fun for the money, but the two styles of bolts available for them aren't very durable.

THE CONS: The fins (the black part in the photos) on these "aluminum" bolts are a very cheap, brittle plastic that break off easily.

THE PROS: The aluminum shaft version is about half again the weight of the plastic shaft version, with the weight balanced toward the front of the dart. They fly straight and group well at up to about 50 feet. By comparison, the all plastic with metal points (which also break easily) are all over the place and don't group at all. Don't waste your money on the plastic ones. The aluminum shaft version, at least, is fun to shoot - just figure on buying lots of them to allow for a lot of broken fins.

  2. Item exactly as described. Quality item received promptly. Would definitely purchase from this vendor again.

  3. The product is acceptable, the delivery was a bit prolonged and status was not well updated. Was sent by US postal service that could not recognize the tracking number. But they finally arrived.

  1. The product may or not be good. I attempted to purchase two of them from The Sportsman's Guide only to find out that it cannot be shipped to my zip code legally. Honestly I wish they had given some sort of warning of linked to a site that let me figure out if I could or not get it. Because of this weeks later I have money still pending in my bank account am still receiving mail telling me the same thing about how it can't be shipped.

  2. I purchased this gun and had nothing but trouble with it. the bow would not stay in place and when I tried to tighten it up the stupid thing broke. You need two people to string it and it has to be assembled. Before it broke, I did get the chance to fire it once, but it didn't even shoot the arrow across the length of my living room. save your money and buy a real bow.

  3. The crossbow came on time as described. It was a pain to put the string on, and the string started breaking since it was put on, so you might need an extra string for it. I got a way to put on the string: assemble the foot piece and the bow arm first, then step on the foot piece and pull the bow arm toward you with two hands.Have a friend put on the string on for you. It's easier than the way the manufacturer provided with the cross bow.
The sights on the crossbow are made of cheap plastic, so get yourself a decent one.

  4. All the above mentioned rewiews are correct. In my case the string started to fray from the beginning and about after 30 or 40 shots it ripped now I try to replace it with some stronger material and if I succeed it was worth for $20 because its lots of fun.

  5. It's a simple design, maybe too simple. The frame is cast metal, which causes it to have some sharp edges that caused the string to fray. It has been fired about 150-200 times and is still going (not by much). The sights are wrong so the same day it arrived we modified it to work a bit better. It can kill small animals at close range if that's needed. All in all it's great for $20-30 and it's really fun to use.

  1. The bow was shipped quickly and is a very nice little bow, it is powerful, and fairly accurate

  2. I ordered this crossbow and was very skeptical, but when I got it in the mail I was extremely impressed. I have had several cross bows in the past and this is the best pistol crossbow I have ever owned. It is very powerful, accurate, and well made. I was expecting to get a toy but this crossbow is no joke you can do serious damage or even kill some one with this thing. So that's why I had to give this product five stars.

  3. I ordered this as an early father's day gift, not really knowing what to expect. This crossbow is really nice for the price, and while it's hard to string and comes with crappy sights, it's perfect for backyard target shooting and varmint control.

  4. Well worth the money I spent.A few things to point out first. The string will break after heavy use or by chance. You will lose a lot of bolts.(Not only missing but by losing tips and backs)As for power and accuracy.I personally shot over 200+ bolts and three strings before writing this review.I'm a good shot with many weapons(Crossbows,Bows,Slingshots)

The sweetspot for this crossbow is inside 9 yards. After 15 yds you can see the bolt wobble in flight. You can shoot at 20+ yards,But loss of power in bolts. You have diminishing results after 20 yards.

As for fun,I love it.Very easy cock and load,Sights do work if you know how to use them.I adjusted mine for 10-15 yards and can hit six bolts in a 3 inch mark.

Bottom line:Loads of fun.Not really for hunting.Definitely not a toy.Buy a few dozen bolts and a string or two at the same time.
note:Need two people to put the string on.

    Happy shooting!!!

  5. The Cobra pistol crossbow is lots of fun, but more than just a toy. It is quite powerful with the ability to penetrate deeply into targets, and accurate enough to consistently hit a 12-inch circle at 20-yards (after a bit of practice). The crossbow comes packaged with one bowstring and three bolts (darts). You'll want to be sure to purchase an extra pack of bolts or two since they are very inexpensive.

The crossbow has a built-in self-cocking mechanism, which makes cocking the crossbow for each shot easy, even with its 80-pound pull. Shooting across an open field to test the range of crossbow I found that I could shoot a bolt about 65-yards in fairly level flight. Shooting in a high arc the bolt will fly out to over 200-yards. Accuracy is quite good out to about 20 or 25-yards, and fair out to about 40-yards. (With more practice I suppose one might become very accurate even out to 40 or 50-yards.)

There is of course no recoil, and only a quiet click/snap sound as the bolt flies from the crossbow. This makes for a very stealthy weapon. The crossbow is certainly powerful and accurate enough to hunt small game, although the bolts only have a `target point'.

The crossbow is reasonably well constructed, made of solid aluminum. The sights leave a bit to be desired, as they are made of plastic, but they are still functional. There is an automatic safety that engages each time you cock the crossbow. This crossbow is well-worth its price of less than $40.00.

If you are looking for a fun weapon for target practice and maybe even a little small game hunting the Cobra pistol crossbow is a good choice.
