4 comments about Basketball Court Stencil (SET).

  1. it is very hard to use because it is made of thin paper that cant be used in any wind, the paint can soak through and it rips very easily. if you manage to manuever the obstacles, it produces a very clear and good looking result. seems like it would work better on cement than rough asphalt because multiple rolls of paint makes it soak through. overall, if you can buy a better set, do it.

  2. I bought this for my husband as a surprise and unfortunately, he did not want it after all. :-(
I never took it out of the package, but it looked like what what advertised on amazon.

  3. I purchased this template and used it a couple of years ago. It was very easy to layout and pretty much dummy proof. However, it is made of a paper so thin that you will need to use it on a day without wind and weight it down as you are using it with something (I used barbel weights). After about 2 years, the paint I chose faded to a point where I couldn't just paint over the old marks, I had to use the template again. It stored just fine and I was able to use it again without a problem although I accidentally ripped it this time and decided to throw it away.

What I liked most about the template:
    1. It was easy to setup and use and didn't cost much. I paid about $20 for it.
    2. It had the inner circle portion of the paint which most templates no longer seem to have. I know that jump balls are no longer done in that area, but I used that inner circle line as a convenient spot for free throw shots for my kindergarten through third grade kids who play on an 8.5 foot goal.

What I didn't like about it:
    1. The dashed lines require less paint, but I don't think I've ever seen dashed lines on a real court; at least not for all the lines. I didn't care about painting the 3-point line, but it appears that the 3-point line doesn't extend all the way to the baseline.
    2. Any wind at all makes it very difficult to use the templates.

My honest opinion is that if you are unsure about the measurements, then try the template once. It's pretty cheap. If you need the curved lines (such as the 3-point line), then the template might be easier than doing it with tape and paint. If you feel confident that you can get the measurements right, then buy some painters' tape and a tape measure and do it yourself.

  4. I just bought one of these and opened it up to install it. The picture is misleading, the 3-point line does not extend to the sides or back to the baseline, it is ONLY by the top of the key. This thing is made of lightweight paper and if you are lucky, you can use it once.

(...)I have seen it on many websites for $36 and higher. Save your money and buy a roll of duct tape and a measuring tape. This product is worthless.

3 comments about The Triple Post Offense Book by Tex Winter.

  1. This is a GOLDEN book in the world for a Blueprint of basketball offense tragety in the world because Michael Jordan in Chicago Bulls winning 6 champions is also using this blueprint.

  2. Tex's book is technical, but if you want to understand basketball, really understand it as the master sees it, then this book is essential. It breaks down his seven principles of sound basketball. It offers up all the wisdom that Tex has mustered in more than a half century of coaching at the college and pro level. God Bless Tex.

    Roland Lazenby
    author of The Show

  3. This is Coach Winter's updated version of the previously acclaimed basketball coaching bible on the Seven Principles of Sound Offense(originally six)known as the Triple Post Offense aka Triangle Offense or Chicago Side-Line Triangle . This detailed instructional coaching book first written in 1962 has recently been modified to apply some of the lessons learned about coaching today's superstar athletes. In the late 1950s and early 60s, athletes were becoming increasingly taller, stronger, faster and more skilled in the art of roundball. While a youthful Baby Boomer generation was full of hope with JFK as President, Tex Winter was coaching the K-State Wildcats to their winning destiny.

Coach Winter was considered one of the best, if not the best, X's and O's coaches back then and he still is today. In the previous 10 years before writing the first edition, he was involved in 3 Final Four NCAA appearances. In his last Final Four showdown with Hall of Fame Coach John Wooden and his UCLA Bruins, one can only wonder if their Championship Dynasty positions would have been reversed had K-State players executed down the stretch and defeated UCLA in 1964.

An "Original Old School" coach whose contributions include mentoring and molding his students into the world's greatest athletes and coaches, Tex remains the one true disciple to "The Game" and singular "voice of the basketball gods". In this edition, Tex adds many detailed diagrams and practical instructions on fundamental drills that build upon and enhance individual athletic skills. More importantly, you will understand the importance of "Team Execution" in achieving success on the court and ultimate victory. I found the Chapters on Psychology of Coaching, Organization of Practices, Preparing for the Job, and Philosophy of Coaching quite helpful to know what it takes to earn the title of "Coach". What better proof of Coach Winter's knowledge and wisdom he shares in this book than the greatest respect he receives from sports writers, coaches and players around the world today...to say nothing of his positive influence he has had on winning 9 NBA World Championships? The Naismith Hall of Fame Election Committee needs to read this too.
