2 comments about Converse Chuck Taylor HiTops, Navy Toddler size 3 to 10.

  1. The seller was great! I would definitly buy from them again! The chuck taylor's for toddlers is too cool!

  2. One of the unforseen consequences of baby shoes affixed with those ubiquitous Velcro fasteners is that they're gone in 30 seconds once they're on a baby's feet. Even babies with less-than-well-developed motor skills can pry off the damn things in no time at all, really.

As a result of those poorly designed shoes, as well as lowtop baby shoes in general, my baby boy went barefoot in summer and wore feet pajamas in cooler months.

Not until he was 10 months old did it occur to me that the solution to his insufferability when it came to shoes was buying these excellent classic Converse All-Star Chuck Taylor Hi-Tops. Not only are they the cutest and coolest shoes out there (esp. in basic black), but if you double-knot the laces, your kid will never pry these off. Mine didn't.

He wore these (size 7, toddler) for a solid six months, and wore them out, but they never fell apart. They held up through playground duty, walks around the track, daily errands, being puked on more than a few times, and hence, thrown in the washing machine just as many. As Bob Seger would say, "like a rock."

When it came time to bronze our boy's first pair of baby shoes, these were the ones chosen to be immortalized in copper, forever freezing in time every wrinkle, fold, and worn-down rubber. They look even cooler all bronzed!

My boy's been wearing his size 8's now for about eight months, and although they're just about ready to pinch his big toes, they're holding up just as well as the first pair, despite more wear and tear. We break out the size 9's tomorrow.

    Hooray!

  1. It is a very cool ball and really glows but it smells really bad. Your hands will smell afterwords. Remember reading that the glow in the dark plastics can be toxic, just makes me wonder about this ball.

  2. this ball is great if you want to shoot around at night and dont have the lurury of a gym to go to. i just put it in front of my headlights on my car for a few minutes and i'm ready to play for a few hours. very cool.

3 comments about Spalding 8352S Back Atcha Ball Return.

  1. First Impression: I was surprised to find it was actually a composite plastic. It looked kind of flimsy, and came in minimal packaging. I was also disappointed that it didn't come in any other color except this flash-ugly yellow.

Usage: Surprise! It actually worked, for the most part. The ball usually does return to me when I shoot head-on towards the basket (AKA perpendicular to the backboard), but keep in mind it always returns the ball perpendicularly, so if you're shooting from the corner, it's not about to turn around and return the ball there; it returns it in the direction of the free throw line). I still found myself having to go get the ball or move substantially to get the ball for about 5-10% of the time, but it beats having to run after the ball ALL the time (by FAR, believe me; I used to take hundreds of shots with 1 ball, and only having to run to get the ball 10% of the time is MUCH better than 100%). Still, the fact that it does not return it 100% of the time takes off 1 star from the rating.

Product Life: A few months now, still no hiccups. I have not even ever had to reposition it, and it's seen a bit of nasty weather. Perhaps the composite plastic wasn't so bad; no rust to worry about.

Important Point: I had recommended this to a friend, and we decided to try mine on his hoop. Good thing we did before buying him one, as this did NOT fit his hoop. This is intended for thin hoops that are circular all the way around and have very little attachment to the backboard. The NICE hoops that allow dunking because they are reinforced will NOT be compatible with this, as this is designed to hang from the back of the rim, ON THE RIM. It also becomes a problem if you have a long net, or a chain net. I take off another star from the rating because of this, and (at least at the time I bought the product and reviewed it), the seller did not specify anything about compatibility.

Overall: A great product when it works. It may seem disappointing when you first look at it, but it does the job. But it doesn't do it perfectly, even though it comes close (90%). Some convenience stores also carry it, so you may want to buy it from there so that it's easy to return, should it not be compatible with your basketball rim.

  2. Ive seen couple of reviews about ppl complaining how this material should be metal and not plastic. but i think this product is good because it "IS" plastic. the material is very durable and flexible to bounce the ball back. The other review says that it doenst bounce the ball back to the same place, that might be a bit of a problme for some ppl because this product does gives your some random bounce back. However i personally like it this way so i can move a bit more and relocate and shoot at different angles randomly. Cheap and easy to install on and off anytime. A lot of the times after i scored a shot, the ball would fall and hit the bottome of the bball stand and bounce away FAR. and i had to be very careful so it woudl not hit some parked cars in the neighborhood. With this product, it really solved all the problmes. I stopped excercising for a while because of busy college, so i eventually gave mine ot my cousin. but now i feel like excercising again, so im ordering another one. I HIGHLY RECOMMAND THIS PRODUCT.

  3. It definitely helps and has cut down on our ball chasing time, but it doesn't "return" as well as a bigger one we've used and if the angle isn't right, it doesn't work. For the price, its still worth it.
