1 comments about Plie II Pointe Shoe - 197.

  1. It usually takes a few tries to get the right pointe shoe. There is never one specific type that is guaranteed for everyone. However, I have a slightly wider toe configuration and a weak arch. I've had to work on my feet for a long time. The shank in these shoes broke in for me much faster than my Bloch Aspirations, which I greatly appreciated. I'm usually not a fan of Capezio pointe shoes, but these ones were real nice fore me. Unlike some dancers, I don't like replacing my pointe shoes every month or all too frequently. I like to use them until they're worn down, and then I wear them as demi-pointes. Anyway, if these shoes work for you, don't try to switch. If they don't work for you, then don't try and make them. They were great for me. I let them air dry each night so that the toe wouldn't get soft and they lasted me about three months.

5 comments about Bella Tap Along Studio with VHS.

  1. As other reviewers noted, the "adjustable tap shoes" are NOT adjustable, and they are so loose that they pose a hazard to little tap pupils. The elastic which is meant to hold the tap shoe onto a child's regular shoe is`sewn in such a way that makes it impossible to shorten the shoe for the snug fit necessary for safe tapping. The shoes made it hard for my 5-year-old to follow along because they kept flopping off, and after we nearly had a disastrous spill I tossed the shoes.

As for the video, it seems the camera person kept forgetting that kids would need to see the dancers' feet rather than their smiling faces in order to follow along. And though Bella is cheerful and a great tap dancer, she only VERY briefly demonstrates the basic steps and provides almost no commentary. Most of the video is filled with corny segments with the rest of the cast (including an odd animated pair of tap shoes who block the video profiling famous dancers) and a couple of dances which moved too quickly for my daughter to really figure out what she was supposed to be doing. Perhaps if she watches the video a number of times she will get it - the problem is she doesn't seem that interested in watching it again.

I really wanted to like this video, but there just isn't enough content that explains or shows exactly how to tap along with Bella. No wonder it was so cheap!

  2. My daughters (3 & 1) love the video and have a great time tapping along with Bella! It teaches the basics in a way that kids can follow. However, the shoes are HORRIBLE! They are almost impossible to put on and don't stay on.

  3. I reviewed the DVD too because my VCR ate my daughters tape and she was so inconsolable that I had to go out and buy the DVD...I thought she'd never calm down. It is her favorite toy in our house and has been for the last 4 months. my daughter LOVESSSS this video! She can't get enough of it and it has really taught her to dance. However, the shoes are horrible - I bought real ones for $20 and put the pink ones it came with in her dress up box in case a friend comes over for a playdate. If you can get real tap shoes, than I HIGHLY recommend this video.
After her meltdown from the video disaster I had to give it 5 stars.

  4. My 4 year old loves Bella Dancerella and we thought that the tap dancing video would be a great idea for her to learn the basics.

She loved the video and could follow it perfectly but the shoes kept coming off no matter what we did to them.
Even when put on the right way every time they came off every five minutes. The tap shoes aren't really designed well enough to keep up with the steps required for the video instructions.

So...we ended up buying her some real tap shoes to go with the video and that works best!

  5. Having a riot with this item. The songs are catchy and we watch the video over and over.

1 comments about Dance Belt - 26.

  1. This belt lives up to its Capezio heritage of good design and construction. It uses rugged yet comfortable and attractive materials.

I'm giving it a four because the sizes run small so I advise going to a size larger regardless of age.

I have an athletic mature body which is different from men in their 20s and younger. There are a lot of older guys dancing and for that reason I would recommend at least one additional larger size in this product offering. Also, more sizing information on Capezio's website would be helpful.

The thong style becomes very comfortable in a short time, does not chafe and I believe, offers better support than side straps. I recommend this product.

1 comments about Glissé Pro Pointe Shoe - G115.

  1. I am a thirteen year old dancer and these were my first pair of pointe shoes. I have narrow feet with rather low arches and I had no trouble at all rolling up to pointe in these shoes. Every dancer's feet are different so I can't exactly recommend these to anyone else, but for me they worked well and were a good first pair.

3 comments about Elite Pointe Shoe - ELITE.

  1. I used these shoes in my Ballet days they were easy to break in and felt very supportive on my feet, the shank of this shoe is very strong and they don't wear out too easily. I have very short toes and narrow heels and they fit my feet perfectly. They are also very quite so you don't sound like an elephant hitting the floor.

  2. I bought these shoes for my daughter. Her toes are wide & her heel is narrow. These fit her perfectly. The medium shank gives the arch a beautiful line, too.

  3. I have always wanted to be a ballerina ever since I was a little boy. I've never doubted my gender, nor have I ever wanted to be a dancer, but the first time I saw a ballerina at a production of "Swan Lake", I knew that's what I wanted to be. When I told my Dad about this, he told me to shut up and enrolled me in pee wee football.

I kept playing football in high school and college, and got pretty good at it, mostly because of my size and speed. In my prime, I could run the 40 in under 4.5 seconds at 6'2'' and 220 lbs. That was twenty years, one marriage, and two kids ago. Now I'm closer to 280 lbs., but I'm still pretty light on my feet.

I always wanted a daughter so I could live my ballerina dreams through her, but I ended up with all sons, both of whom have no interest in dance or cross dressing. I decided one day that if I'm ever going to pursue my ballerina dreams, it would be now or never, so I ordered the size 8 XXXX Grishko Elite pointe shoes with the hard shank. Despite my size, I have always had dainty feet.

When the Elites arrived, I immediately put on them on along with the pink satin ribbons I had ordered separately. I know I should have broken in the shoes first, but I got so excited at the prospect of fulfilling my dreams that I immediately got up and attempted a piqu? en arabesque. I stepped forward with my right foot sur la pointe, but before I could kick back my left leg, the toes in my right foot collapsed under my weight and my right ankle twisted with a sickening crack as I collapsed in an ugly heap on the floor.

One torn ligament and three broken toes later, I have learned my lesson. This ballerina is going to have his pointe shoes professionally fitted and gradually work up to dancing sur la pointe au milieu with gradual exercises ? la barre. I should also lose some weight. My wife thinks I am undergoing a nervous breakdown and my sons are ashamed to be related to me, but the thought of one day pirouetting sur la pointe in a pink tutu has given me renewed purpose and optimism in my otherwise dull life.
