- The box came torn up but all the parts were there. The directions are not the best but you can get through the set up. After all is said and done it is well made and my son and I enjoy it. We have had it for a few months now and with all the usage it gets its look like brand new.
- hoop works great.assembly manual lacks clarity and requires some interpretation on the rubber boots to get them intheright place.
I removed the center section of the 3 piece pole arrangement to use at 6 to 8 feet for my 5&6 yr old grandkids.Works great.
Moves around fine if you only half fill with water.
- I suppose the basketball goal itself is fairly decent for the price. I couldn't say for sure because after owning it for a month I have yet to get it up. It came with two different parts missing. The instructions are not very good and parts are not numbered and in some cases not even identified. I initially called customer service and had to go through the instruction book with them to show them the step where the part was supposed to be used. Even after being very specific in my description they still managed to send the wrong part. When I called them back to correct their mistake they were very uncooperative, but the customer service representative did promise she would upgrade my shipping. Unfortunately not only did she not upgrade but the part did not go out for nearly a week. I will never purchase another product from this company. I just hope I can get this thing up sometime soon.
- When I was looking at all the backet ball hoops, I was not sure which one to get. I just wanted one for my 11 year old daughter to practice with, not too expensive. This one is of good quality and it easily adjustible for different heights. I took two people to put it together but was not too hard. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a basketball hoop to play basketball.
- First of all the DHL truck dropped the box off in my front yard without letting me know. No doorbell rang. No knock. Then when we went to assemble the goal one of the rods wasn't the right length. Called the 1-800 # for lifetime products @ was told they would send another rod. As of this day we have yet to recieve it.Had the rod cut by a welder so that we could go ahead and get the goal put together since it was already 2 wks. past Christmas. Had problems putting the goal together. Directions aren't as clear as they should be. Finally got the goal put together & so far so good...What an ordeal.......

- This took a while to put together, but it was worth it. The frame for the backboard is steel, not plastic like some others, and the backboard material itself, while not very thick, is quite strong and clear (it's the same stuff they use for my glasses). The only scratch on it is one that must have happened when I was moving the poles out of the package. The backboard is also noticeably larger than others. The powder coat finish looks almost like a Teflon coating; I'm confident it will last. The hydraulic adjustment works great. The rim is seriously heavy duty and thick.
If this is still selling for 219.99, buy it. You won't find any better at this price.
(I bought this because there was a ground sleeve already installed next to our driveway, but it was old and rusty; I had to pound for almost an hour to get this into the sleeve, so I don't think it is ever coming out. Consider buying a new sleeve if you're in my boat.)
- I went with the ground sleeve installation, this system is rock solid...for the most part the assembly instructions are easy to follow...I would purchase this item again, or another from the same manufacturer...
- Assembly took some time, but the instructions were pretty clear, and there were no missing parts. Well designed unit as everything went to together perfectly. I installed it using a ground sleeve to allow it to be removed later if desired. I used post hole cement (8 50 lb bags) which didn't require mixing - just put the cement in the hole, then add water.
Started to finish was maybe 8 hours over three days (have to allow cement to cure) including digging the hole.
I'm amazed at how easy the height adjustment is - nearly zero weight to adjust up or down.
The clear backboard is a plus as it makes it less of an eye sore (doesn't block views so much), and having it in ground allows for cleaner installation (no tripping over the big base, or having it take room on the driveway).

5 comments about Spalding 72307 Portable Basketball System with 52-Inch PolyCarbonate Backboard.
- The order took six weeks to ship. After I removed the parts from the box I noticed the backboard was broken. The return went smooth as they resent within a few days. However, the rim is rather cheap and one of the net holders broke off within the first month.
- I recently purchased this Basketball System and in the process of putting it together (which isn't too difficult) I had left the backboard laying on the grass for 2 hours in 90 degree heat. When it was time to attach the backboard on the pole I realized that it was warped! After examining the thickness of the polycarbonate I was very disappointed to see that it was extremely thin. I haven't taken any shots on the backboard yet but I don't anticipate that it will be very solid. The good news is Spalding Cust. Service was extremely accomodating and is sending a new backboard at no expense to me (which is why I am giving it 3 stars vs. 1). This system will be fine for children (ages 4-12) but I do not expect that it will perform well under higher level play. If I were to do it over again I would spend significantly less or significantly more depending on the anticipated use.
- Hello, I purchased this Basketball hoop from Amazon when it was on sale, and just finished assemblying. It took some time( 4 hours-I work slow), did it all myself with some help from my 12 year old son.
The directions are perfect, not a problem, and I am not handy at all!
My advice is to ensure all 6" bolts go thru hole openings as directions state. That rubber mallet sure came in handy!
When assembling 3 pc poles, make sure you dont do on cement because you will ruin the bottom of pole when joing them.
This system is not flimsy, VERY STURDY, and the height adjustment is great. Quality parts too!
I wish I would of bought this a long time ago before wasting $75 every time on a disposable BB hoop system I bought at Target. This is a great investment. If you can get this for under $275.00, it would be an EXTREME buy.
- I recived on of these courts for Christmas. and the system is not complicated
Their are Two problems I see 1 when you brick the ball or hit the backboard There is a lound thunder like noise and the cour will rock back and fourth. Also if the rim spring isn't tight enough the rim will shoot up in the oppisite direction and you will have to bring the court down and reset the rim properly But this is a Excellent system
- I purchased 2 of these for the Boys & Girls Club. They were simple to put together with two people and they have taken the daily 'use' by the children at the club. It looks like they will last many years.

- I looked over the Amazon reviews and saw Lifetime products get dinged for their lack of clear instructions and difficulty to assemble. I had intended to steer clear of the brand when buying so I got a 'Rebok' system at CostCo (Lifetime model number 51564) for $249.99 thinking it would be a Lifetime. Wrong answer. From looking at Amazon though, this item is the closest I could see to match it but the list price is 399.99 here and the model number is different. (52" board, 3.5" pole, pictures match up)
I had similar difficulties in getting it together as the visual diagrams are pretty poor. I have worked on such diagrams many years in automotive and these are just terrible. They make it more challenging to get this together than it should be.
However, once I got it together, I like the finished product so far. (one month of use now)

- it is very hard to use because it is made of thin paper that cant be used in any wind, the paint can soak through and it rips very easily. if you manage to manuever the obstacles, it produces a very clear and good looking result. seems like it would work better on cement than rough asphalt because multiple rolls of paint makes it soak through. overall, if you can buy a better set, do it.

- Nice hoop, on lowest setting standing in pool I can barely touch the rim, Im 6' 1" . Would be nice to be able to adjust it a little lower for small kids. besides that it is great.
