5 comments about Spalding 15175 Multi-Sport Return Throw System.

  1. This is a very good product, but there were not enough of the bungee cords with it. It has held up very well, so far, and my grandson (7) enjoys it almost every day. It has helped him improve his throwing, and catching skills. I would recomend this, but make sure of all the parts!!!

  2. I haven't used one of these ball returns since I was a kid, but I wanted my 7-year-old son to have an opportunity to practice like I use to. I was hesitant about ordering this, because surely it couldn't be as good as the one I use to have. Boy, was I wrong. This is a great ball return and is quite sturdy. Be prepared for the dreaded "some assembly required." The directions are far from good, and I eventually resorted to using the picture on the box for reference. But after it was assembled, it became fun to use and we look forward to many practice days ahead. I would highly recommend this.

  3. I purchased this for my grandson who is 5-1/2 and loves playing T-ball. It has helped him learn to be ready when the ball comes back to him to catch and he can play by himself without having someone else throw the ball to him. It is very sturdy and easily assembled.

  4. This product is exactly what I expected. My 8 year old son loves using it. It is definitely sturdy enough for a kid his age to use for praticing baseball. It gives him a target to aim throwing at and he also enjoys catching (or trying to catch) the return. As a result he has shown a greater interest in baseball.

  5. The only real utility to the assembly directions is that they refer you to the box photo...once I realized that, it became easy (took me 20 minutes to build meticulously...I lost 5 minutes?). I had a pitchback when I was a kid (eons ago :-) and loved it...it literally turned me into a pitcher! This product is notably better (I haven't found another as good). Once assembled, its uniquely solid and its very convenient to adjust (nice markers on back rails) or stow (back rails clip off at bottom for flat storage...thoughtful design!). My 6 year old son adores it...he usually prefers playing catch with it over me! (hey it does return the ball faster...and by design it teaches more directly, perfecting throwing and catching together). For anyone learning/practicing baseball (softball, T-ball, etc.) this product is a MUST HAVE. It's also very useful for other sports, particularly soccer (in more vertical position, with supplied anchors firmly in ground).

5 comments about Wiffle 9 inch Baseballs in Counter-top Display - One Dozen.

  1. I have had the same Wiffle ball for the past nine years. But, I only have one. In the past I have bought other plastic baseballs to only have them crack or fall apart after the third hit. The only plastic baseball to last has been my Wiffle ball. I was so excited to find a dozen balls. My two sons and I will have many years of baseball fun ahead of us!

  2. Wiffleball = life; this is the perfect purchase for true enthusiasts that have a knack for hitting too many balls on roofs.

  3. I was looking for a dozen Wiffle balls and found exactly what I needed. I was hoping to find a set not individually wrapped, but this is what was available.

  4. Great
Can not find wiffle ball brand in my area. Was great to find them at amazon

  5. .....that's the day that the first WIFFLE BALLS (invented a year earlier) went on sale in this baseball-crazy country. Mr. David Mullany created the first Wiffle Ball in Fairfield, Connecticut after seeing his 12-year-old son struggling to throw a curveball. Mr. Mullany (to whom we bow down and show obeisance) cut eight oblong slots into plastic orbs that were used to package cosmetics and the Wiffle Ball, an American institution, was born.

Oh, Wiffle Ball, Wiffle Ball, it nearly compels me to wax poetic. I'm now 46 years old, but the love that I have for the game of Wiffle Ball will possess my heart long after my body has any capability to throw a breaking pitch! My Brother and I were born to a beautiful, baseball-loving woman. Shirley grew up following the Cincinnati Reds, and as a child, she acquired a nickname based on a long-forgotten Big League pitcher. As an adult, she worked for the Los Angeles dOdGers and the Los Angeles Angels (that was before they became the California Angels, and then the Anaheim Angels, and then the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and then the Chicago White Sox victims). She instilled in her two boys and one daughter a love for America's pastime. (In fact, my sister was the first girl we ever heard of to play on a boys Little League team.)

But when we weren't on a baseball diamond with 7 other guys, and when we couldn't scrounge up two other guys to play a game of "Over-The-Line" at the park, my Brother, Doug, and I were battling it out in a game of Wiffle Ball in the yard. We had some outrageously competitive games in our "Glory Days." We perfected the art of pitching a Wiffle Ball, and baffled many a batter who tried to hit us. I remember 1990 and a young, athletic college student who, claiming to have played Wiffle Ball throughout his childhood, challenged this old geezer on the UCLA field behind the John Wooden Center. Well, my screwball was only breaking about 10 feet that day, and after taking it for strike three about a dozen times, he just shook his head, and I concluded that whatever game he was playing as a child, it WASN'T what my Brother and I called, "WIFFLE BALL."

If you have never owned a Wiffle Ball, you've never really been alive, my dear friend! Although they do tend to crack between the oblong cutouts after some time (especially if you hang too many curveballs for my Brother who swings with great authority), they will last for countless hours of baseballesque bliss and excellent exercise! They can be used anywhere outdoors because the Wiffle Ball weighs only two-thirds of an ounce, and if Doug never knocked one through a window, neither will you!

And although the Wiffle Ball is light, it does not follow that it should be taken lightly. After San Francisco Giant (man, do I hate the Giants!), Kevin Mitchell won the 1989 National League MVP award, he publicly stated that he had really learned to hit the curveball by playing a lot of Wiffle Ball the previous off-season. One of the greatest hitters of all-time, San Diego Padre, Tony Gwynn used to hit Wiffle Balls off of a batting tee because he could tell from the spin where he had struck the ball. Play with a Wiffle Ball and you're in Big League company!

The Wiffle Balls offered here are the regulation 9 inch variety. (And SURPRISE! They're still made in the U.S.A. The day production moves to Communist China I'll jump.) Twelve Wiffle Balls are currently going for $14.95, that's only $1.25 per ball. Do you have any idea how much fun you can have with a Wiffle Ball? Well, take my word for it, you'll get more than a dollar and twenty-five cents worth!

Now all you need to do is get the regulation, Old School, plastic yellow ("banana") bat. Of course, if you really want to splurge you can purchase the newly invented aluminum Wiffle Ball bat. Funny story : My dear ol' Ma bought an aluminum Wiffle Ball bat as a gift for my Brother on his birthday. But she wasn't sure what size to get, so she called the company. "How old is your son?" the representative asked. When she said, "41", he laughed loud and said, "I think you'll want to go with the heaviest model."

One of the great disappointments in my life (SERIOUSLY!) is that they didn't think to organize Wiffle Ball competitions until Doug and I were in our 40's. We scouted out the competition at the "Wiffle Ball World Series" here in Phoenix a few years ago. (Players fly in from all over the country!) We figured that even at our advanced age and with my arthritis, we could still give those young studs all they bargained for and more, if we polished our long-neglected technique over the next year. Alas, it never happened, what with work, and life, and all the other crap that gets in the way of Wiffle Ball play.

But that doesn't mean YOU can't fly into Phoenix next year and win the title! Get to it, man! Get yourself a dozen Wiffle Balls, a "banana" bat and start practicing. Hint : the ball breaks in the direction of the solid half. Want to throw a drop? Make sure the solid section is on the bottom at your release point. Then get inventive; there are innumerable variations on that theme! You can thank me for the hint when you see me. You'll recognize me because I'm always the guy who picks up the suitcase that comes around on the airport luggage carrousel with a plastic yellow bat strapped across the top of it!

  1. I was looking for an inexpensive sport bag to keep a variety of equipment in. I keep it in the back of my car so I can have whatever I need on hand. The idea is when I'm somewhere with my son, we always have a bunch of choices of games to play if we get bored.

I have a soccer ball, basketball, three bats, two baseball gloves, a couple of softballs/baseballs, and a tire pump in the bag with some room left. The basketball just fits, but I can close the bag without a problem.

The bag came packages in a mesh bag with a locking drawstring. This is a great accessory to keep the softballs and baseballs from scattering all over inside the bag. It's great for keeping smaller items organized.

  2. This bag looks nice, its feels strong, has a lot of space; the best is the compartment for the clits that it is separated from the main compartment. It has room for 3 bats and has a little inside pocket excellent for the keys and some change.

I recommend it. I love this item.

  3. I got this as a gift for a my husband (the clang of bats rolling around in the trunk was really getting unnerving) - I bought it based almost exclusively on other reviews and amazon's tidy price. He was quite happy to recieve it, it seems well made and it's totally functional. The compartments are set out thoughtfully, the zippers are good quality, the straps are a proper length - no complaints.

  1. I sent this to my nephew for his birthday and my sister said she was really impressed with the quality of the product!

  2. Over the years, we have purchased several batting tees. All of they have only lasted a short time, a season at most. This one is exactly what I was looking for. It is exactly like the ones used in the league. It is very durable and I fully expect to hand it down to my grandkids in time. Wish that I had purchased this years ago with my first kid. I love it (and so does my 5 year old son!!)

  3. Bought this for my grandchildren who have not yet used it. I was looking for something basic but of really good quality and this batting tee seems to be just that. The service was also top quality.

  4. I bought this for my grandkids and they love it. It looks like it will last through all 4 boys.

  5. After going through a number of cheaply made batting Ts, I stumbled across this one. This is the one sanctioned version by the T-ball Assn of American and it's sturdy and well-built(Our T-ball team uses this version it games). It may cost a few pennies more than cheep WalMart versions, but it is well worth the price. You'll be handing this down to cousins and friends - that's how well it's built. The friction fit rubber pipes are perfect for adjusting to different little batters swings.

Go ahead and swing at this pitch, you won't regret it.

  1. This is a great bag. Good quality, easy to carry. Defintely beats lugging everything in each arm. There is a seperate compartment for his bat, which is nice. And in the main compartment, he can fit his mitt, batting gloves, helmet and even some sunscreen and hiss dad's mitt too. My only complaint and reason for not giving it 5 stars is because the width is a little tight zipping with the helmet in if you don't get it in just the right position. It fits, but it's a little snug. That being said, I'm not sure my son could tote around a full size bag, so I'm still glad we got this junior size.

  2. Great price for a NIKE product and lots of room. Great bag for TEE BALL
players. Not too long or bulky.
    Wendy B Louisiana

  3. I ordered two of these bags for my grandsons, age 5 and 8. Vender confirmation and shipping information was excellent and items were received in a very timely manner. I always have high expectations of Nike products and was not disappointed in this product. I recommend both the seller and the product, expecially when using the amazon.com one click method of purchase!

  4. This ball bag is perfect for my 7 yr old son. We went to a sporting goods store and they did not sell a smaller size bag for youth. This is just what we needed. All his gear, including batting helmet fit nicely inside.

  5. I purchased this for my son to use during baseball season. It is very well made and holds a lot too. He loves it! The shipping was fast and the vender was easy to work with. I would buy from them again.

  1. I have only had the bag for a month, but so far so good. I manage to keep 2 bats (3 would be pushing it, but maybe), shoes, helmet, glove, and a bag of sunflower seeds in the bag. It may not last long as the material the bag is made of is fairly lightweight, but for $9, what do you really expect?

  2. The bag is the perfect size for a teenage ballplayer. My son uses it 3x's a week and the bag is still in great condition. It shipped out in a timely matter and the price well lets just say, couldnt beat it with a stick....

  3. Great bag for my 5 1/2 year old grandson. Sturdy, good zipper closure.
    Nice size.+++

  1. I bought this bag in red and black for my 9 year step-son. The price was very reasonable and well worth it. He was taking too long to gather all his stuff before baseball practices. It has also helped to keep his room organized. He keeps his bats, helmet, mitt, balls, and batting gloves in it along with a water bottle and his baseball cap. This hook is nice to hang it on the fence to keep it off the ground.

When he fills it with all that stuff, it is a little heavy for him to carry. But he manages. The strap is long enough for him to sling the bag diagonally across his back.
