  1. the RedXL is completetly worthless...you can sit in a chair and turn left to right/right to left and receive as much benefit without spending a $100.00...it's a "gimmic"...

  2. My wife wanted this really badly, and used it quite a bit for the first few weeks we had it. It also makes a nice place to sit in front of the computer.

  3. I wouldn't give it one star, but you have to if you want to write something.
    This product SUCKS!

  4. This is a boring ab workout machine. It works your abs some but does not entice. The next ab assistant I'll be getting is one of the big workout balls. I had one before and my daughter took sissors to it. Many more excersies with the ball, virtually as many as you can think of. But this piece of equipment is totally lame. The video that goes with it is absolute crap as well. A big buff guy and two hot chicks who he bosses around and tells them how rich he is because of suckers like me buying his stupid product.

  5. My mother saw this on television and wanted one for Christmas. With her health issues she cannot do high impact exercise and wanted something she could do at home. She really seems to like it and I am considering purchasing one myself. Obviously it isn't a machine for someone who does a lot of working out and exercise, but for someone like us, who doesn't and realizes that we need to find some way to do some exercise, it works well. My plan is to put it right in my living room and use it while I watch tv! I've tried that at my mom's and I really liked it. An added bonus is that I got it here on Amazon for about half the price it would have been anywhere else.

  1. I love this product! The settings range from 1-99, so if it is too uncomfortable, simply adjust it to a lower setting, however, the sooner you begin using higher settings, the faster you will see results. After about a week, I was able to max my setting at 99. I use it twice a day 45 minutes at a time: once, in the recommended position over the navel and then again, slightly lower on my lower abs. I highly recommend this product, especially if you're a mom!!! It is not that uncomfortable if you visualize the results, no where close to your weakest contraction, but it will get rid off any leftover post-pregnancy flab:) I would recommend buying additional gel pads, so you will not have to break your routine to order more. Using the belt twice a day, 45 minutes at a time, the pads will last a little under 3 weeks or about two weeks if you use it more frequently. Completely worth the investment if you use it religiously and on the 99 setting!

  2. This belt was very uncomfortable because of the electric currents that the belt emits throughout your abdomen. It only covers the middle and not the lower. But the currents were so uncomfortable to the point where it became annoying and I just had to stop using it. I didn't notice any results anyway. My abdomen felt the same, as if it never got a workout. I used it for about an hour each day for two weeks. I'm over it and will just stick to old fashion crunches. Save your money.

  1. These are great. Easy to use. Well made. Haven't bothered with the DVD yet.
Only reason for not 5 stars is price. Though not expensive, seems like they should be more like 10-15 dollars....

  2. I tried a different "glide disc", and returned them when I was told about the Val Slides. These are WAY superior to the other brand, as they have padding (easier on the knees), are shaped more for the foot rather than a circle, and come with covers for use on hard surfaces (i.e. gym floor). The video was very helpful, provided 3 levels of intensity. I've even bought another glide video for variety. I have recommended this brand of slides to several people, who have since purchased them. Great product!

  3. As a personal trainer i am always looking for something new for my clients. The overall package is nice(carry case-slide covers) with a easy to follow dvd/slide card and they even throw in some very sound nutrition advice within the dvd. The exercies are great for beginnners or advanced fitness levels and you can hit the upper and lower body (with your core engaged) I would say go for it if your not sure!!

  1. Sweet straps. Have used them lenty times and are still in great shape. I love them.

  2. Hanging leg raises are a great way to work your abs - expecially if you've already been doing crunches and you're looking for a way to up the intensity of your workout. You can do leg raises just by holding on to a chin-up bar - but your ab workout will be limited by your grip stength and endurance, and it can also put a lot of strain on the shoulders. Using these straps allows you to support your weight on your upper arms, allowing for a longer, more intense workout. The straps are sturdy and made to last a long time, and they have just enough padding to prevent digging into your arm. A gym I used to workout at had a pair and they held up for years with a lot of use. My new gym doesn't have them, so I bought my own, because I like them that much.

5 comments about Gaiam Abs Ball Workout Kit (Color May Vary).

  1. Just love my item. Works great!!!! The only thing negative about it is the smell. Sorry sounds funny, but it just has that rubbery smell. Besides that I love the Abs Ball. I recommend it to anyone.

  2. I haven't used it yet because the off-gassing of the ball's material makes me ill. Also, the smell/compounds transfer to one's skin.... Very disturbing. I'm not sure I'll keep it because of this. For such an "earthy" company, I'm surpirsed their products appear to have no regard for the environment and reduced VOC's. Perhap there is information available on the material. Right now, I feel like I neeed to leave it outside for a month or two.

  3. I got the abs ball tonight and I'm very excited to use it for some variety (I usually do straight abs DVDs with no equipment). However, the free DVD is terrible:
    - the advanced routine feels like you're doing something, but the beginner one is a joke, so there's ultimately only 1 10-minute routine I can use with this ball. For $40 I would prefer to have a few routines I could alternate- hopefully they'll make a second DVD... (and the beginner/advanced routines repeat many of the exercises so I can't mix and match)
    - the guy leading the routine WOULD NOT SHUT UP. It's good to give information for beginners who might not know about back safety and that it's okay to start with fewer reps, but it interferred and drove me nuts: I frequently found myself waiting for him to finish talking so we could begin the exercise

  4. I bought this to supplement my workouts when I was rehabbing from a hockey injury. The dvd that was included has a good, easy-to-follow format and challenges your core. I started with the recommended exercises and then just incorporated those into my current workouts as I healed, especially the Russian Twists!
If you're looking for something to melt away the pounds and define your abs, this would be by far the best tool to supplement your other efforts (hanging bar would be the first). By no means is the abs ball to replace a solid total-body workout and food intake adjustment (dare I say the dreaded "diet" word), but it will definitely help, especially if you haven't been exercising for a while and can't stand the idea of hundreds of crunches that hurt your lower back.
I whole-heartedly recommend changing your "eating plan" to the Zone Diet (it's really NOT a diet) and workout following the CrossFit exercises at crossfit.com, those two combined will dramatically change your body shape and your strength exponentially in just a few weeks!!

  5. I received the product about 5-days after I ordered it (and I live in Hawaii). The product packaging was crazy--three nested boxes with air packets.

The DVD worked and I did the workout for the first time yesterday. The exercise sequence made sense and was easy to do (beginner version). The only issue I had was that the handles weren't too comfortable in the plank position.

I can't speak about results yet seeing as I did it for the first time yesterday, but I am feeling it in my abs today. It's effective and not time consuming. I feel like I've worked my abs as well with this product as I have during an hour-long pilates class (I took reformer classes for two years). I can't wait to try the advanced workout.

  1. I love ab wheels and this wheel has not let me down.

Have yet to embrace my feet, but from my knees I have been pleased.

  2. One of the best tools for developing your abs and core. Much better than crunches! Well made and easy to use (but not easy to do), highly recommended.

  3. Torque Athletics(www.torqueathletic.com) "Ab Grinder" is far better constructed(like comparing a Ford Ranger truck to a Peterbuilt) and has a lower center of gravity allowing a more productive workout.

  4. This is another extraordinary piece of equipment made by Lifeline. The simple fact is that there are instances where only a specialized piece of exercise equipment can do the best job in hitting certain muscles in a certain way. There is no substitute for Power Wheel pikeups, or certain animal movements. I consider the Power Wheel to be one of the top 3 pieces of exercise specific equipment a person could have. Plus it can be used as an ab wheel....two birds with one stone. And it is $25 less than the "Ab Grinder."
