  1. Great book, and Zakk rules, unfortunately it is missing 30 pages!!! So you better be careful with ordering it. You might suffer from it too.

Does anyone know how to get a refund or a new book from Amazon???

    Cheers,
    Sid

  2. Great Book, Zakk Wylde is a great guitarplayer. The book gives a good look at Zakk his music and how you can try to play it. It covers some of his work with Ozzy Osbourne, his own bands "Pride & Glory" and "BLS" and some great solo work. The CD that comes with it could have more music on it so it makes it easier to get to know Zakk his music if you don't already know it.
Overall a good way to play it like it is.

  1. It is awesome it has real cool photos somebody buy me a copy and send it to me

  2. Great for any guitar playing Ozzy fan, . From beginner to the experienced guitarist, the book offers clear accutartly transcribed Ozzy classics in standard music and tabulature form. I recommend this!

  3. This is the worst tab book I've ever purchased. The transcriptions are not what you here on the album. Maybe the intros are close, but whats transcribed during the verses are not what is actually played. When you play it, it sounds like the vocals played on the guitar, nothing even close to the rhythm that Rhandy Rhoads, Tony Iommi, Jake E. Lee, or Zakk Wylde played. Don't buy this if you want to learn to play the songs how they sound on the album. This is a terrible book.

  4. I bought this book from guitar center, mainly because I love Ozzy Osbourne & Randy Rhoads, and am constantly searching online for 100% correct tabs for alot of the songs and have found many, many, many just plain wrong ones.

Well, as another reviewer mentioned...this book is wrong.
Its advertised as 100% correct transcriptions from the albums, and thats not what is in print.

Alot of these are close, and the solos are usually 100% right, but most of the rhythem sections are seriously wrong.

It looks like some of Randys moves werent figured out and random notes were thrown in place of a proper chord or etc.

Its funny because I can take the tab and put it into guitar-pro on the computer (it plays tabs as typed in) and sync up the actuall song, and parts of the song will be missed, wrong, etc..
When you hear a chord, and the tab shows a sequence of 9-9-9-9-9 notes in place, you know somethings up.

this book isnt 100% right, and if thats what you want, try a different tab book.

  5. The Randy Rhodes songs in this book are all transcribed from the live Tribute album, not from their original studio versions. The other songs (Bark at the Moon, No More Tears) are the album versions, and, as far as I can tell are accurate. If you want the studio versions of the Randy Rhodes songs, pick up the Cherry Lane tab books for Blizzard and Diary, also available here on Amazon.

  1. This is an AWESOME tab book, which is a perfect companion to "The Ozzman Cometh" CD. Covers many of the Ozzmans greatest, and is dead-on accurate!

If you're an Ozzy, Randy Rhoads or Zakk Wylde fan, this book is for you!

    Rock On!!

  1. This isn't a terrible book. Most of the transcriptions look real solid, but the one I was most interested in, "steal away," is disappointing. To begin with, Randy was well known for triple tracking his solo work in studios, but this transcription doesn't ever include more than one guitar track for this song. "I Don't Know" is arranged for the full 3 tracks, so there's really no excuse for leaving out the solo accompaniment. The first Lead fill at about 1:01, it's like the transcriber didn't even try to figure out what Randy did... it's not even the same number of notes. Oh well. This was one of the most important rock/metal albums ever made, so the book is probably a good buy... just know that they're damn liars when they say it's "note for note" transcription. I haven't played through the whole book, but I wouldn't be surprised if this song wasn't the only crappy transcription. "Mr. Crowley" looks good, I had that one tabbed out on by a friend before I picked up this book, and the books transcription was better. This books "Crazy Train" is better than the best one I've found online. It's a good buy I guess, just pissed that the best song is the worst tab.

  1. 20+ years ago I learned the solo to Bark at the Moon. Recently my 12-going-on-13 year old son took an interest in vintage Ozzy. I couldn't be happier! I bought this book for him, but when it arrived I found myself obsessed with each page and audio track. It brought back memories of youth, inspiration, and musical bliss! I learned a few songs that have been long forgotten. I learned a few songs that I've never played before. And, I gained the priceless moments of teaching them to my son. Guitar is great! The Oz is great. His choice of guitarists is eternally great.

    From Mark John Sternal
Author of "GUITAR: Total Scales Techniques and Applications"
    "GUITAR: Probable Chords"
    "Complete Guitar By Ear"
and, "The Twelve Notes Of Music"

  2. This is a very good book for players who like Ozzy's music and the styles of his guitarist. Note that this book does not show you complete songs but the highlights. The one of the best feature is the CD, they put the guitar on the right side of your stereo and the backup band on the left so you can turn down the guitar and play with the CD, very cool. Also the instruction is great and easy to follow and if you are not a strong reader of tablature (TAB) it has some helpfull definitions in the back. It will be tough for a first time guitar player to buy this and try and keep up, but I wouldn't underestimate the drive of a future guitar hero. Have fun!

  3. Contrary to what is written above.

  4. First of all, I am a big fan of the Stetina Series as he shows you how it's done step by step.

This book has the exact transcriptions of the songs (with the exception of Shot in The Dark as the other reader said, be warned) and the CD with excerpts of the songs played full speed and slowly so you can hear that each solo and riff note by note.

I took away one star because the book excludes parts of some songs, most notably the cool outro in "Bark at the Moon" and the fast part after the solo in "Killer of Giants".

Despite that flaw, it is a great book. Highly recommended.

  1. This book is limited in the amount of unpopular songs and that is what I has looking for. Thanks

  2. Zakk Wylde has always been impressive with his ability to write a variety of songs. It's hard to call him heavy metal, although he can shred as well as anyone out there. All of his more popular songs are included in this book. It has some from Pride and Glory, some from Black Label Society (only Sonic Brew), Book of Shadows and a little bit from Ozzy. The transcriptions are pretty much on the money. If you're looking to to learn some of his songs and also learn a little bit about his playing style, then this is a great introduction to his work. He has written many songs and this is just a glimpse of his unique style and southern rock, country influences. He also digs Elton John!

  3. A Really good tab book, pretty accurate except that there is a whole song missing (The one which I bought the tab book for = Shine On) but is replaced by another song which was already in the book.

Living in the uk I couldnt be bothered to send it back to the US, so im just gonna grin and bare it, I know im a bit of a sucker but what can you do.

  4. I love Zakk Wylde's guitar playing style, and if you buy this book and learn his riffs and licks exactly the way he plays them, you will too! I highly recommend this book that teaches guitar players how to learn this great guitar players techniques and tasteful note playing!

  5. I just feel this could be great with a better song list maybe just do all of Book of Shadows.
