- I want to see pattern on the tab .
- Nothing to complain about.
It contains transcriptions of songs: 1) Perpetual 2) Dragonfly 3) Teaser 4) How Many Miles To Babylon 5) Cry No More 6) No Mercy 7) C'est La Vie 8) Leviathan 9) Fire And Ice 10) Forever Is A Long Time 11) I'm My Own Enemy 12) All I Want Is Everything 13) Golden Dawn 14) Final Curtain
- Well unfortunately this book isn't going to be much help. While this is certainly Yngwie's worst album, the solo's as always are great. But the tab for said solo's is pretty bad. If you've studied Yngwie's technique in detail as I have, you'll know most of his fingerings and hand positions are pretty logical. Most tab books just screw them up however and make his stuff much harder to play than it already is.
Being a collector of guitar tab books, I have come to know the various transcribers. Dave Whitehill is the one who transcribed this book, and everything I've seen by him has been pretty bad. He transcribed the Hellcasters first album and I have that book, and amazingly it's very well done. Which tells me shred style metal is just not his gig, and he should stick to country and blues which he is obviously much more comfortable and proficient with.
I have a feeling the music is fairly accurate, so if you're a good music reader you may get more value out of this one. I read music, but for guitar stuff I prefer tablature, and the staff music helps me with the rhythms. But the tab for this book is bad, and inaccurate to say the least.
If you're looking for accurate Malmsteen tab books Marching Out and Trilogy by Wolf Marshall are both very good. He also transcribed Rising Force and that one is not bad, but you could tell Marshall at that time hadn't become as fluid transcribing Yngwie's technique as he did on the later albums. Besides those two books, the Young Guitar magazine from Japan has phenomenal tabs of Yngwies work. Hit up EBay for those.

- This is a good place to start if you wanna figure out what the Maestro is thinking when he is playing. The first section of the book shows some typical Yngwie licks and then it moves into some songs that he has wrote, like Trilogy Suite and Rising Force. There is also a section of blues licks(and Yngwie sure kills at the blues), and then some more chord progressions he has wrote. Not only is the book a good instructional tool, it is a good show piece for Yngwie's talent. My only problem is that, if you are just starting to shred this may not be the place to start. Yngwie seems to refuse to slow down the examples enough. He tends to just blaze through each lick and then move onto the next. A better book to start with would be Speed Mechanics by Troy Stetina. But all in all, its a good place to get some insight on Yngwies playing style.

- I recommend this book to all guitarists who wish to challenge themselves. As far as Malmsteen tabs go, this is the best there is. It is really thick and gives you both the musical notation and conventional fret numbered tabs for each line of music. Some fans may not like that most of the songs are conventional songs with verses and chorus and an interlude followed by guitar solo, but I think it is the way to go. Flip around, learn an arpeggio here, some chromatic spiral over there. It is fun for any guitarist who likes the way Malmsteen does it and is willing to sit down with a music stand. Here's a tip. When you play on the higher frets don't use your pinkey
- This is a great book for learning how yngwie pulls of some wicked stuff, though i did find that on a rare occation, the book would have the wrong way of playing something. the same notes are being struck, but in a different, and possibly easier way, but you dont get the exact sound yngwie has. like i said, it is a rare occurance so dont wry bout it much. awesome book and i recommend it to any yngwie followers

- What an amzing guitar player. Arpeggios and sweeps galore. How do you say his name, again?
- Malmsteen is the MASTER of THE ELECTRIC GUITAR on EARTH.
This is his MASTERPIECE.
- Nice music, but this transcription is extremely inaccurate. Maybe Yngwie could spend like a few minutes checking the accuracy of things that bear his professional name and impact on his image as a professional? Hal Leonard why did you put out a book with zillions of mistakes? Have you no shame?
Look man: Yngwie uses left hand for vibrato, virtually never the bar -as is notated half the time. Wide vibrato is not oscillation between half steps with a tie inserted! What about having the artist sit down and play it slowly for a video camera. Are you guys so hard up, you have to GUESS all the notes, or did some computer program try to write the book? And another thing, adding comments like: Stately, With Feeling, or Echo Deviced Used. . . does not make you sound thorough, it merely further illustrates that your company places no value on excellence and misses the point. We can hear echo! We want to accurately know where the notes are. There are no indications of picking or fingerings, only fretting (which is probably whatever their computer HAL guessed at).
Also, artists such as Vai and Malmsteen: you should go after these companies. You complain about P2P sharing and revenue loss, but what about YOU going after these companies for price fixing and sloppy arrangements which cheat US!?
- For the most part a great book to learn malmsteen. i don't think that the book is perfect to how malmsteen actually plays (vibratos and other expressions) the songs, but it's only with minor things. i would have liked it if there was a few pages in the beginning explaining malmsteen's style and giving performance notes for every song. but for the price this book is at, it's a helluva lot better than trying to learn the album by ear!
- Wolf Marshall's tabs are dead accurate. The only thing to be aware of is that sometimes Yngwie plays the same notes, but only differently than the book instructs. The two most obvious things are thant Yngwie doesn't use the whammy bar that often for the super high bends, but his fingers. (Scalloped fretboards make bending a helluva lot easier!) Also, Yngwie doesn't use economy picking for three note per string scale runs, but rather straightforward alternate picking.
All that aside, this is still the best tab you'll find for the Rising Force album; it even includes the bass lines! Highly recommended.

- This instruction book includes a very helpful CD for listening in normal and slowed speed. You can play it on your computer or cd player plugged into your amp and practice. The song selection is a really good mixture of Yngwie's best songs. The book does not include tablature for the complete songs, but this is fine if you just want to study and play the "signature" solos and don't want to play the whole song (which is too difficult for beginners). There are no in-depth written instructions within the book so you should be familiar with understanding how to play and read tablature format. However, it is easy to learn! The only information that I wish it had is how to get the "Yngwie" sound through equipment and settings.
- The absolute best thing about this book is that the pieces are slowed down a great deal (first played full speed then slowed wwaaaaayyyy down). Yngwie is awsome. I listen to the CD over and over on the way to work. It just amazes me ... the music this guy has composed and the book and cd provide a great combo breakdown. Althought I would like to have seen twenty more songs in this book I am still extremely satisfied and wouldn't hesitate a second to purchase this book. Bye bye back to the woodshed.
- So far I have no complains and can only say that this book is one of the best ones, out there on shredding, Malmsteen style. I only wish there were more songs.
