  1. If you're only interested in guitar transcriptions, you'd probably be better off getting the guitar tab book for this album. This transcription for all the instruments suffers from a number of problems, like

    * some of the more questionable interpretations I've seen in a tab book. That's not a huge problem if you're used to transcribing by ear yourself, but if not, prepare for some confusion and/or experimentation.

    * Since all the instrumental and vocal lines are crammed onto the same page, akin to an orchestral score, the printing is quite small. You may have trouble making it out from a distance while you're playing.

    * Some tab symbols are never explained, despite the (mediocre) legend at the back of the book. Beginning guitarists will likely wonder what on earth "M" means, for example (usually "palm mute" here).

  1. This is a great comprehensive collections of the songs in this album. And it's accurate. However, I've always had a problem with how hard it is to read Weezer's music in the official collected versions of the albums. There is a LOT of shorthand here, so be prepared to get down and dirty. Once you get passed that, though, it's great. It would have been nice to have the music for the b-sides, too, but oh well.

  1. If you are one of the weezer fans that consider Pinkerton to be the brightest link in the weezer chain of genious, then this book is for you. The songs are easy to learn and simple enough for the novice guitar player to play and sing along with. Pinkerton, the most hard-rockin and emotional weez album, is guarenteed to get the chiar-sitting guitar players out there to stand up and rock out in fine fashion. So slip on a tight t-shirt and sweat-out some power rock.

  1. I have read this book and I thought 'WOW - all the stuff you already knew'! I mean, I'm a real =W= fan and there's nothing in the world I wouldn't subscribe if it says WEEZER, but I expected more! Okay, the book is not actual anymore, but...okay! I really like those tabs they offer in the book. I spent several nights in my room just playing Weezer songs! If you're a real fan: BUY IT! Even if you're from overseas. I'm German and had no problems understanding the book. It's written in easy English. =W= rule 4 eva!

  2. Okay I got caught up in the change that it might be a fan book, or something information wise about the band. Its just the music for the blue album and some pictures. I don't play guitar, but its kind of fun to try it out on piano. If you want guitar music, its good, if you didn't, then don't buy it. I don't really regret it, cause it is true, if you are a real weezer fan you'll have this.

  3. Ehee...this tab book is totally rockin' fab! It also has the words in nice sentences! Yay for weezer! Up with emo glasses for evah!

  4. As far as albums from the "alternative rock" era go, you won't find a better one than Weezer's Blue Album for learning all the basic elements of guitar playing. There's fingerstyle playing, creative octave use, tons of great soloing techniques, different power chord forms, and perfect pop riff after perfect pop riff. The tablature seems to be almost perfectly accurate. Rivers Cuomo is the greatest songwriter in modern rock, and this is his masterpiece; here's the perfect insight into his mastery for any aspiring guitar player.

  5. Essential for the Weezer fan guitar player. The sheet music and tablature are written together so you can see how both describes the same music. As a new guitar player, I find this to be a valuable learning tool. There are chord diagrams at the top of every song, again, a very good learning tool. They have good documentation of any guitar tricks they use, like hammer-ons, so there is very little mystery about how to play anything. I highly recommend this book.

A bonus tip I'll give you is that there is a live acoustic performance of "Undone the Sweater Song" floating around the internet done by Ben Kweller. It's really useful to hear it that way since I'm playing it accoustically as well.
