- I bought this book to relearn how to play guitar, and I'm glad that I did. This book has most of Stevens' hits, with the exceptions of "Down at the Old Schoolyard" and "Another Saturday Night". The songs are pretty easy, so you'll be playing like a pro in no time. If you really enjoyed listening to Cat Stevens in the early 70s like I did, you'll probably like this book.

2 comments about Cat Stevens: Complete Chord Songbook.
- I Love listening to Angelsea, I never knew I could play it too. This book gives the intermediate player the tools to pick up and play nearly all of Cat Steven's songs. What a treat. You even get insight into how he arranges and makes up his music. This book is better than just listening to Cat Steven's music on CD or record. The chords and notes are faithful to the original too, thankfully.
- On the bonus footage on his new DVD Cat Stevens/ Yusuf Islam ..is sitting on the couch in his home leafing through this book..before putting it down to play a few tunes of his with just his nylon strung acoustic guitar...so if its good enough to help the guy who wrote the songs remember them...I guess its good enough for someone wanting to learn them from scratch!!! You can't get a better endorsement than that!

2 comments about Cat Stevens' Greatest Hits: Song Tab Edition.
- If you start playing guitar and love Cat Stevens, that's the book. The chords aren't the same as the albums, but they are simplified, in a easy way. You only have a couple of tunes, greatest hits. the prints are very large and you only get the guitar lines: no bass, no piano. Thers is not the real finger picking but for begginers, it's perfect
- This book gives you chord diagrams, strumming patterns, and good guitar tablature. it is great for beginners, or anyone who prefers reading guitar tabs instead of music notes. all the lyrics are also included. i am just beginning to learn guitar and i can already play half of father and son. its awesome. this book has helped me a lot. i recommend it.

2 comments about The Complete Guitar Player Cat Stevens Songbook (The Complete Guitar Player Series).
- There are a whopping 28 songs in this little book, which was many more than I expected for the price asked. There are very few pop songs that the Cat did that aren't in this book. Unfortunately they got away with this by using VERY small print fonts, dropping the piano scores from the music, and only putting one line of lyrics with the music. What you do get are all the words (though the second verses on are printed as blocks of text on the bottoms of the pages), the melody lines, and the chord box notation above the lines (Circles with teeny-tiny finger numbers inside.) There is also a nifty strumming chart at the top of each song to give you a feel for the rythms involved. Nice touch. They squeeze 7 lines of music with up to 10 measures per line on each page, which is tough on the eyeballs. The advantage of this is that a whole song fits on one or two facing pages, with no page turns. If you can read the chords without the finger notation detail, and don't get lost moving from music to lyric sections this is a great book for performing from. From a content point a view, a definate 10. From a printing point of view, a 6. Overall a 9.
- A good collection of basic chords for some of the best songs by Cat Stevens. Intros are missing in songs like "Moonshadow" and "The First Cut Is The Deepest". It is hard to believe that "The Wind" is not included in this collection of songs. Guitar melody in "If I Laugh" is not included either, just the basic chords. This book is by no means perfect, but it is a good buy for the money.

5 comments about Cat Stevens Complete: Songs From 1970-1975 (Cat Stevens).
- I love Cat/Yusef and this book
- For those of you who know the answer to the question, does this book have guitar tablature?
Sorry not to be able to review it but i love Cat Stevens so i gave it a 5 anyway JMouledoux@aol.com
- This book will fit the bill for most musicians who want to play the music of Cat Stevens. A few of the introductions are somewhat inaccurate and it would be nice if the second and third verses to If I Laugh and Tuesdays Dead could be on the same page as the music. The intro to Moonshadow is missing as well. None the less most musicians will find this book very helpful.
- This seems to be a good book, but unfortunately there's no guitar tablature. Very often there are two guitars on Cat Stevens' songs and it would have been nice to see both tablatures. Here, you only get the chords. The chords for the introductions are not there either. I know the intro to Father and son is G and C, so why not write it? Not a book for guitarists unless you are a musician that can read partitions.
- Great way to start for beginning strummers. The songs are fairly easy to figure out! :)
