- I haven't owned a pair of ASICS for some time. The ASICS GT 2130 is a great shoe! I just ran on them for the first time, an easy 30 min around the neighborhood...my wife asked me, 'How were they?' - I told her, 'They are like the Volkswagen Passat, 90% of the performance of an Audi A4 or BMW 3 series, but at almost 40% less the cost!' - In other words - they are great and they do everything very VERY well. They are stable- but yield just enough, they are responsive - but not out of control, and they are comfortable - but not overly so. Maybe the ASICS Nimbus 9 or Brooks Trance 7 do these things a little bit better, but at 15-20 mi per week tops, and not a marathoner, why pay the extra$$. I should say my current shoe is the Nike Air Volermo, which is nice, but not as responsive on the pavement as the ASICS.
Pros - price, performance, styling (the orange color is killer)
Con - the toe box feels 'wide' or loose when just standing around, but this was not evident when actually running.
- I bought this shoe (Asics GT-2130) because i have a slight pronation in my foot and i was hoping this would correct it. however, i've noticed increased strain on my knees since running in them. it also strains my calf muscles in places (towards the front and sides, which i guess are not really the calf?) i've never felt strain from jogging, but i guess that's just muscle development, which is a good thing. also, be warned, the fit is a little larger than most other shoes in the toe area. it's snug everywhere else, but my toes feel like they're just swimming around down there--maybe Asics are made for people with extra wide feet? or maybe you just have to order down a 1/2 size from what you would normally wear. on the positive side, the styling is great.
- Great shoes! I have wide feet and very few shoes fit me. These fit beautifully and are comfortable for running and just general walking. I have used Asic shoes for many years and have always been very happy with them as long as I could find 4E versions. Thank God for online shopping.
- I had a job where I worked for six hours a day with a 20 minute break and the the rest of the time I was on my feet! I started out wearing a pair of old basketball shoes but I soon found out that was not a smart decision. After only a few days I noticed when I got home that I had achy feet and lower back pain like no other. So I went to my local shoe store and said show me the most comfortable shoe you guys have and they brought me the Asics, nikes, rebooks, and the north face. All of which were of the same design but the Asics hands down are the most comfortable. I feel so much better after a long day of work when I wear these.

5 comments about ASICS® Men's Gel-Kayano XIV.
- I've run in Asics since about 1986, and with a few exceptions (notably the original Evolution, which was awesome) have stuck with the Kayano since 1999. loved the Kayano XII and XIII and was ready to roll with new look Kayano XIV. I've put about 100 miles on them so far, and the biggest change is that it is a much firmer shoe - it doesn't have that cushy, flexible feel that the XII and XIII did. Feels more like a clunky motion control shoe than a lighter stability shoe. I have no concerns about the fit (same) or quality (high) of the shoe, but it's just not the same feel. Be warned.
- I have worn Asics for more than 20 years. For about the last five years, I've been in the GT2130 and it's predecessors. After foot surgery last fall, I decided to "upgrade" to the GK14. Mistake. I immediately developed a blister on the left inside heel due to pinching between the insole and outer. The fabric on the shoe began to fall apart after about 30 miles (one week), even though all of those miles were on a treadmill. I don't notice any additional cushioning over the GT2130 and I haven't seen any evidence of a longer shoe life. I have about 190 miles on them and need to replace them. I am going back to the GT2130.
- The Kayano 14 fits great and has a very nice ride. I have been running in Kayano's for 8 years and this version is my favorite. The new solyte material has a much softer feel compared to the old solyte which was first introduced in Kayano 13. If you're looking for a supportive shoe with lots of cushioning, the Kayano is the best!
- They don't sell either shoe where I live in northern Japan, so during a recent trip to Tokyo I decided to buy one pair of each. Now I alternate between the two. I like both shoes, but for different reasons. The K14s are a bit heavier, but have more cushioning. The Nimbus 9's have less cushioning, but are lighter. Both provide ample support. I feel like I'm working harder when I run in the Nimbus 9s, whereas the K14s help propel me along. I've had fast runs in both shoes and slow runs in both shoes. As a comparison I owned a pair of Kayano 12s which I didn't wear long enough to wear out. Compared to the K12s, the K14s are a little heavier but provide more cushioning and support. The K12s actually feel closer to the Nimbus 9s, but the N9s provide more support.
- I remember slipping into my first pair of Kayano 13's and they were heaven. The 13's are the perfect width, have wonderful cushioning and my feet are never tired or achy after a run. I was thrilled about these new 14's and couldn't wait to buy a pair. Until I tried a pair on the other day. Asics has narrowed the toe box and heel, it doesn't feel as cushy and they're just not as nice. I think I had better stock up on my 13's before they're hard to come by. If you're a 13 fan, I recommend actually trying these 14's on before buying them online!

- I have worn the Asics Kayano for the last 3 years when I got fitted at a specialty shoe store. I have horrible knees, one kneecap isnt on there right anymore, but running in these badboys makes it a joy. I highly recommend these shoes to anybody with knees that arent in that great of shape anymore. Plus they dont just come in the girlie boring colors.
- This shoe is the best out there! I have used Asics, after a doctor's recommendation, for the past 15 years or so. This particular shoe I just acquired in August and I love it -- they have exceeded their own awesome record. As others indicate, it's perfect for those of us with bad knees or even plantar fasciatis, any feet problems. It's just the best!
- I'm a beginner runner, so I can't really share much, but four years a go I had a knee injury while skiing so I was told to buy these shoes from friends who really run. So far I'm starting training for my first competition (Nike 10 Km - Mexico City) and they feel just great.
- These shoes are wonderful. I've worn a couple other brands of running shoes, New Balance and some old Nikes years ago. With the New Balance, I thought that was what running shoes were supposed to feel like and when it was time to buy new shoes I almost went back to the same NB model. After some research I decided to try these Asics on and I was blown away. They provide perfect support, cushioning and it feels like you're walking on a cloud. After a run my feet never feel tired or achy. I have a lower arch, but it's not completely flat and my feet are also a tad wide in the toe area, so I bought the men's version and they've worked out wonderfully. I will be going back again and again for this shoe. They are on the expensive side, but once you try them on you'll understand they're worth every penny!
- After years of running, trying every brand of shoes and bad knees, I tried these running shoes 5 years ago and I haven't changed since. I rack up about 25 miles a week and I have no problems with my knees because of these shoes!!! I highly recommend them to anyone who is a serious runner, or someone who only runs a few miles a week.

- I picked up a pair of these ASICS shoes for 2 reasons: price and fit. I got them at a retailer for $40 which is pretty reasonable for a pair of running shoes. The fit of these shoes is incredible. I have wide feet and have always had to buy a longer shoe to get any level of comfort. ASICS has a wide width version of this shoe that fits my feet like a, well, a well sized shoe. They feel great when I run. I love these shoes.

- I have been running in the Asics GT-2000 series shoe for the past four years. I have stuck with them through multiple new models, and each time I genuinely felt that the changes were an improvement.
Unfortunately, I recently upgraded from the GT-2120s to the GT-2130s. Much to my dismay, when I was halfway into a 13 mile run, I started experiencing severe pain where the edge of the shoe hit my right ankle. I had to stop every half-mile / mile for the next hour or so, trying futilely to adjust the shoe so that it did not hurt.
When I got home I did some experimentation and found that the GT-2130s have been redesigned so that the inner edge of the right shoe hits 1/4" higher on my ankle than the GT-2120s.
I am so upset that Asics ruined my favorite shoe! They are completely unwearable and now I have to find a new brand. My only hope is that, like New Coke, the folks at Asics will realize how stupid it is to ruin something that everyone likes, and go back to their normal design in their next model.
- Beautiful, super confy, I love them. This is my fourth pair since the 2110 model and they just keep making them prettier and comfortable. Great arch support, I love the IGS and cushioning.
- I started buying Asics three years ago, and I have never wanted for anything else. This GT-2130 shoe is very comfortable and really supports my foot during heel to toe strike off. The shoe is very lightweight. I love all the color choices. Last month I purchased both the black and the python. The 2000 series has been a great choice for me.
- excellent running shoes and very stable. bought based on shape magazine top rating and they havent let me down. they are very stable and just what i need after recovering from a broken leg. light weight. excellent
- Very attractive shoe and once broken in, worked as well as the previous models! This shoe feels a little heavier than the last pair of 2120's, however.

1 comments about ASICS® Men's Gel-Nimbus 10.
- Well. after much reasearch and consideration I finally decided to go with the Asics Gel Nimbus. I have to say, I was very, very pleased with this purchase. Here's why... I started exercising and running at 259Lbs...yes, I'm a, or should I say "was" a much bigger man. I used Nike's for years and was relatively happy with them, however, with the extra weight I found that days after I would have terrible shin splints, so, like many of us, I found out that it could be a range of things, at the end of the day, trial and error, it was mu shoes and they did not have enough support and cushioning for my excess "junk".
The Nimbus have everything that I needed, as I put them on, I could tell the difference, the support was fantastic, the shoe fit like a glove all around the foot and it gives you a little extra bounce. So, I went running! now 3 weeks later, the shin splints are almost gone and I have improved my time around the Savannah (I live in Trinidad - 3.52km or 2.18 miles around)tremendously. The shoe is comfortable and I did not find you had any "breaking in" to do like some shoes.
Any person, heavy or not or those who have heavy feet would do well to get a pair of these, it's like walking on clouds (no pun intended) They also have a wide pronation range so can suit many types of runners from unders to overs.
I hope this review helps you make a decision. You can't go wrong with these.

- Great stability and cushioning shoe. I have had trouble with shin splints and my achillies and find these shoes far superior to the 2100 series. Definitely worth the extra money spent, I wouldn't go back to 2100s.
- These are the best running shoes I have ever owned! They are my first pair of ASICS, and I can tell a big difference. When the time comes I will only buy ASICS again.
- I ordered those shoes for my dad. He likes them a lot and he told me to order him another pair. Although now he wants to go with the kayano 14. Probably not that much of a difference.
But he really likes the shoes. They are good for his feet and he runs 8 miles everyday so he does need goo equipment, and I like the color.
- I bought these shoes and ran the Rock n Roll marathon in them. They were a great shoe for the whole ride!
- I bought these for my son for track season. They held up superbly during training season as well as track season. He had no problems breaking them in. They were used for running on grass, sand, mulch and concrete with no problems. He has been using them for running since track season has ended. They still look fantastic and are not showing substantial wear.
I believe they are worth the money because they didn't cause him pain or any foot problems. We will buy a new pair each season. I highly recommend these.

5 comments about ASICS® Men's Gel Nimbus 9.
- I've owned "lesser" Asics in the past. But I thought, why not go with a nicer model this round? I bought the Nimbus-9, and thought I was fairly happy with it. Then after a few weeks of light running (I'm NOT a huge runner by any means . . . 6miles x 2-3 times a week if that). I'm not entirely sure what type of fabric they've gone with for the interior, maybe it's lighter than the other models, I don't know. But, it's definitley not as durable. Within a month of my "slacker running" which usually involves a bit of walking as well (all on pavement). Both shoes started wearing through the lining near the heel. Alright I thought . . . now 4 or so months in the lining is pretty much destroyed. The top cuff area of one of the shoes is starting to fall apart as well.
I suppose they're comfortable, but so were the Gel Trabucos, and Eagle Trails or whatever they were called that I owned in the past. But both of those models, and no longer used for running but yard-work, and whatever else are in better shape after several years than these are after a few months.
Fit is the most important thing with a shoe, but I'll definitley shy away from any model with this lining again.
- I'm a long time jogger, average 2.5 miles per day, for over 15 years.
I bought a pair of Nimbus 9 during Christmas holiday at a local shoe store for $120 which is the most expensive running shoe I ever purchased, since I felt so good after tried it on for a little walking on the floor, and their design, color, and material all indicated a good quality.
Secondly, I was completely ignorant about the need to select a type of running shoe to fit one's foot type, and never heard words like "foot arch", "overpronate", and "underpronate". To me, all running shoes are good for running, and should have no difference for their basic functionality, except their durability, material, outlooks, and price. Based on this assumption, good and expensive shoe should at least be equally good for my daily jogging.
I couldn't be more wrong about this assumption.
For the last five months, I started to have frequent problem with my calf muscle (gastrocnemius muscle). It's kind of sour and tight at first, and progressively became pain, and then went away after a few days break on running.
During the 1st 3 months, the problem skipped my attention since I was on business travel several times during that period, and while I'm on the road I used a different pair of shoes that is preserved for my travel.
But during the last 2 months, this muscle problem of mine becomes chronically worse. And I could not find a rational explanation for its cause. As I compared my current running condition, I could not find any cause, such as change of treadmill which is the same for the last 2 years, or anything else related to my daily jogging.
That is, other than my new shoes!
To find it out, I decided to switch back to my old shoes which were worn out but still in a reasonably usable condition. That was 2 weeks ago. Magically, my calf muscle problem went away for the last 2 weeks, during which time I ran 2-4 miles every morning.
Then, this Thursday (yesterday 06/12) morning, I put on my Nimbus 9 again and did a 2.5 miles (10 laps) jogging. I went to a local community college and ran on its tracking field. Before I finished the 8-th lap, the pain started to come back again and I didn't finish the 9-th lap.
Today, I did some research on the web, and for the first time, I learned that one has to know one's foot type to select the best running shoe. I asked my daughter who's a junior in college and my son who's a freshman in high school, both are sport oriented, and they were as ignorant as me.
I then went on amazon.com to buy a new pair of running shoes. And I noticed, after several searches with various combination of words like "underpronate" and "overpronate", there is no clear information about the type of foot that one brand of running is most suitable.
If you read through the product description on this page about the Nimbus 9, it says that it's suitable for all types of foot. To quote the line here:
"... The broad supportive platform is suitable for a range of runners from underpronators to moderate overpronators."
which seems to imply that this shoes fit all types of 'pronators' except a 'overpronator' that is NOT moderate.
But this seems to be misleading since the very concept of under- and over-pronation suggests that the way of compensation the shoe could do can only be one of the two, never both, since an overpronator tends to wear the inside side of the shoes while an underpronator its outside.
[...]
Finally, here's my suggestions.
To us consumers: know your foot type and try to match it with the right type of running shoes (e.g., cushioning, neutral, etc.).
To amazon.com: could YOU and Your sellers to provide clear information about the type of foot that the running shoes are most suitable.
Almost forget to mention that I'm a non-moderate underpronator.
- This is a very comfortable and light shoe. I use them to run and also to travel. Sizes are rather small, so make sure you order at least half a size larger than you'd normally wear.
- I've put 50 miles on them so far and I am pretty happy with them. I ran Asics GT 2090 before which are more for stability and I think the Nimbus gives about the same support at a lighter weight. The fit is good and I had no rub points. I hope that the 10's stay close to the 9's becuase I will buy this line again.
- I finally ran out of online sources to purchase Gel Nimbus VII last year, so I "upgraded" to the IX.
I have since put on 188 miles on these shoes. A few things I have noticed:
1) initially I got many hotspots on the shoes as these seem a lot tighter in the front than my previous ones.
2) they feel lighter
3) I have recently noticed holes appearing in the left ankle support area on both shoes.
As I have only run in Asics, I feel brand-stuck and therefore find these shoes overall decent. I think there were some mistakes with the IXs which were probably/hopefully fixed with the Xs.
If you have run in the Nimbus' before, I would use these shoes. However, if you have not been sized professional, I would not take the risk online with these.

- Great shoe! Perfect fit right away, very little "break in" time. Great price and fast service. May not be the best shoe for heavier runners. Absolutely love the Metallic Rootbeer color!
- The shoes looked great when I got them and were very light. However, after the first time I ran in them I had huge blisters on the sides of my heels. I thought that maybe it was because they were new. After a week of breaking them in and three runs, I'm still having the same problem. I will be trying to send them back.
- Soft insides for the Gel. It has great support plus the style and colors are great.
- These shoes are awesome!!! They're extremely comfortable and they do a lot to prevent you from running improperly. I used to get bad shin splints with my old shoes but these are great! No problems - lightweight, super supportive, VERY comfortable. I ran my first road race in them during a rain storm and they managed to still be comfortable and dried very shortly after the rain stopped. Best value for the best price
- The shoes came very quickly and packed very appropriately, but there is a defect in my right shoe and it gives me terrible blisters. I don't feel I can return them because I've already run outside in them - don't ever buy running shoes online!!

- great shoes, great price, the black color looks fast and sweet
fit true to size both length and width
- So far these shoes have taken a beating and are still in perfect condition. Shoes fit perfectly, good air flow, light and still have enough stability. You can not go wrong with these!!
- If you are looking for an excuse to start running this shoes will give you one not to stop.
they are kinda wide but I love them because of that.
- These shoes are pretty much as good as everyone here has said they were. One problem, the inside part underneath you foot is a bit uneven in places and it makes you feel like you have something in your shoe that you need to shake out, or that your sock has bunched up under your foot. A lot of people probably wouldn't notice this but it drove me crazy until I replaced the inserts.
[...]
Their customer service is also not so good.
Anyway, not the best shoe I've ever had, but overall probably a B+ or A- as far as shoes go.
- This is my second pair of 2120's and I am still impressed with them. I bought this shoe after having terrible shin splints and within a few weeks of wearing them they went away. I have not had any pain in my legs since. The only down side is that I am a normal runner and these have a little too much stability as well as too much arch support. My feet aren't affected by it too much but occassionally I will have a hot spot on the inside of my foot.
Get this shoe while they are still in stock! They have been discontinued and replaced by the 2130 which I hear has more support than the 2120 which is why I stuck with this model.
