  1. The same information you will find in any of the thousands of success books around today : set your goals, focus on them, persevere. The author has put an eastern spin on it to differentiate his book from others, although it adds nothing. One must realize that the first edition of this book was printed in 1956 so most of what is around today probably drew from this book.

  2. Robert Collier wrote this book in 1956 long before the world of self help books. My mother left this book to me last year when she died and I consider it on of her greatest gifts. It reminds us of the potential in each one of us and how we are responsible and can create the type of life we want.

  3. Well worth the read although it is not very well organized and integrated.
It is kind of a collection of bits of knowledge from the Orient mostly India.
Although it is somewhat dated, if you have some knowledge of the Orient and its healing sciences I think you will find this very useful.

  4. This is one of those things they dont teach you in school. It is an excellent guide for someone who seeks personal success.

It contains valuable lessons presented in simple and plain english. It is a light read and straight to the point. It is also an interesting read because it will make you pause and think twice and will make you reflect on certain points in life.

This is not your new age personal development program that's filled with promises. This book is not an inspirational book... it is a personal development book. It is not hyped up with creating you a glamorous future, but it is more like a blueprint for self growth, self development and self improvement that can help you to build a desirable future.

This is a great book to add to your library collections. It is "an Oldie, but Goodie"

  5. Do not make the mistake of thinking this book is related to Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East (6 Volume Set) by Baird T. Spalding. Robert Collier has nothing to do (evidently) with the true Ascended Masters, and the book is basically a motivational positive thinking type book. I was very disappointed in this book.

  1. I first saw Les Brown on PBS television while he was giving a motivational seminar. I couldn't change the channel. He was so good. So motivating and fun to listen to, I just had to hear every word he had to say.
When I saw his book, "Live your Dreams" in the bookstore, I knew I had to buy it. It was a great investment.
The book is entertaining, honest, extremely enlightening and of course, motivational. I enjoy this book so much that I can't recommend it enough. Anyone who wants to go against the odds and be successful in life will need the right motivation and attitude. Les Brown's "Live your Dreams" gives you that much needed boost in moral support.

  2. Les Brown is phenomenal and very motivating. I love this book and would recommend it to anyone.

  3. I bought this book as a result of the fact that for two days in a row, I had the privileged to be at a seminar given by Les Brown at Jesus House DC, Live and uncensored. After listening to him, I purchased most of material including this book. Reading the material simply brings him back live to my mind. It is as if he was right there next to you talking to you; showing how and why you CAN DO THIS! You have potential. You can make it; here is how. Then he explains the steps to achieve your greatness. This book is a must to any one who wants to make it to the top. My heartfelt Gratitude to both Les Brown and Pastor Ghandi of Jesus House DC for exposing us to such priceless and tremendous knowledge.
Dr. Israel King,Ph.D. Author of How To Keep A Man

  4. I purchased Les Brown's "Live Your Dreams" when it first came out and it made a great difference in my life. I started having more confidence in who I was and it helped my reach beyond anything I previously thought I could accomplish. Since then I met a young man who I feel could benefit from "Live Your Dreams" and absolutely had to buy it for his birthday. I hope that this title will eventually be brought back as a CD. I feel anyone could find peace and confidence in themselves after listening to Les Brown. He offers hope and possibilities.

  5. What an incredible book!!!! WOW!!!! I admire the man behind this book, Les Brown. He is real! He asks you questions to get you to think of where you are and where you want to go. IF you have not found success, regardless of the "excuse", this is a must read!!!! It is Powerful!!!!Les Brown really makes you figure out where your place is in this world. You have one, you just have to find it. Thank you Les Brown. God Bless you!!!!! My husband is suppose to read this book next.....I think I might have to get him his own copy. :)

  1. While attending community college, I was required to read this text for a class called: "Student Life Skills". While a lot of the information was more of a review for me personally, I feel that the topics covered within this text are definitely appropriate for high school students and especially college freshmen. I'm an "older" student--- going to college in my 30s----and as a result I found myself realizing that a lot of the suggestions in this book were things that I was already doing in my academic career.

This book is easy to read, clear and concise. The wording is simple and uses plain, everyday English. I also recommend utilizing as many online resources that the book has to offer. Even though it is geared towards college level students, high schoolers will certainly benefit.

5 comments about Casual Power:: How to Power Up Your Nonverbal Communication & Dress Down for Success.
  1. I'm more of a "tomboy," who like to dress comfortably and casually. I work for a corporation that allows this and have worn cargo shorts, short sleeved shirts, and other very casual attire to the workplace.

When my company went through a shakeup (that eventually resulted with many employees being cut), I started to implement much of the advice from this book. Suddenly, though I had always been overlooked, I was noticed by management and was actually asked to apply for a more senior position.

In response to the person who says that a person in a low-level position can't benefit from _Casual Power_, I would say that it is not true. I'm in a completely entry-level position at a customer-service oriented phone call center. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, almost 2 million workers in America have a similar position. How are you going to stand out if you are one of these 2 million? Despite my entry-level income, I was able to afford better clothing at discount stores such as Target or by shopping online.

In addition, this book even has advice as to how to "power up" your look if you're stuck in a "work uniform" such as those worn in fast food or retail locations. It is for people at all levels in the work force.

  2. With "Business Casual" being the norm now in what to wear to the office, this book is great at giving you insight on how to dress for success at the workplace in a business casual environment. Filled with lots of helpful tips and how to "get noticed" at work by those who matter!!

  3. I re-read this book again and realized how lazy I had gotten on my dress. I went through my closet again and anything that did not wow me, I through out. The last couple of months I have followed the guidelines of this book and have been amazed the way I am treated differently at work. My boss now includes me on meetings, that I never attended before and has given me a lot more responsibility. I went from sundresses and sandals to a much more professional dress and the results have been amazing.
Thank you for this book, it has changed my life.

  4. As a former clothing buyer spending all of my work time selecting, presenting, and advertising the latest fashions I now wish I had Sherry's book to impress upon me personally how very important MY dress was to my success. She has impressed me with her convincing argument that although what you say is important, how you say it via dress is about 55% of that impression. I loved her real life, before and after stories which has left me paying much more attention to my new leisure image. Thanks Sherry!

  5. This book defines "casual business" dress and provides succinct descriptions as well as sketches of appropriate and inappropriate dress for men and women for different business occasions. It cures the insecurity of not knowing what choices are appropriate. The next move: Follow the author's advice for success.

5 comments about Jump In!: Even If You Don't Know How to Swim.
  1. I'm a big fan of anything inspiring. Mark Burnett is the father of reality TV. He is a man of vision, and unafraid to take "calculated risks"--something a lot of people would like to do, but are either afraid of failure, or procrastinate "jumping in". Though I didn't read his first book, I did scan through it briefly. This book is much more in depth. I do agree with other reviewers; the book does lack detail concerning his earlier life, and some of his failures (1st marriage eg.). All in all, this is a great book, written by someone who has accomplished a great deal in his life. Personally, I am bored to tears with 'Reality TV', but it has played a big part in television entertainment the last decade. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants more from life, and is willing to make the effort.

  2. I would have loved to hear more about the steps Mark took towards success. Reading about survivor for over half the book got rather dull, although the show is his bread & butter. Reading about his experiences coming over from the U.K. as a Para-trooper, ending up a Nanny, selling shirts in Venice Beach from a fence, to his first experiences before Making-It bigtime were very enjoyable.

If there would have been more detail on these things and a little less emphasis on every single survivor show then I wouldn't have been able to put it down.

If your a survivor nut (which I'm not) then this may just be the book your looking for. If your looking for a truly interesting bio on a power player within the entertainment industry I highly recommend checking out The Operator by Tom King which is all about David Geffen (The G in Dreamworks SKG movie studio, Geffen Records, etc...)

  3. I'm a huge Apprentice and Survivor fan - so of course I had to get the book of creator of both these concepts. This book was such a page turner for me. It provides such an engaging mixture of Burnett schmoozing with Hollywood royalty like Spielberg to his first entrepreneurial exploits selling t-shirts to his own survivor-esque experiences. It's described as a rags to riches story - which it is but to me it showed that the real currency in the world is ideas - and Mark Burnett is full of them!

  4. This book authored by Mark Brunett, the producer who popularised reality TV, not only in USA but throughout the world - beginning with Survivor and his other hit series, Eco-Challenge.

This book accounts of his journey mainly on these two TV series which he produced. Survivor fans would be most pleased to read the insights on what went behind the scenes to set up each Season's series - from location scouting, logistics and negotiations, not to mention his dream and passion. And this is where it comes in handy and useful for us, who want to learn the art of negotiation, and to be inspired by how a simple British who made good in the American dream.

Mark also shares his insights on how to continue to be creative and re-invent the Survivor series, plus his other hit reality TV series, which shows that we should not rest on our laurels.

There are a lot of interesting points in the book which are highlighted in boxes, giving emphasis to us readers. These are helpful pointers to note what Mark wants us to pick-up and learn.

There is one particular interesting section of the book which he mentioned during his training days where he and his mates were trained to do somethings 'impossible'. Of course they succeeded, and that truly inspires that nothing can stand in between us and our dreams!

In this book, Mark also mentions about how he met idol Donald Trump, and finally even worked with him on The Apprentice. Together with his meeting with Martha Stewart too.

In all, this book truly inspires those who inspire to be in the entertainmenmt industry especially TV producers, Survivor fans, and even those who just want to read an inspiring book.

  5. I picked this up as a discount-price eBook, and thought it would be worth the risk, seeing as I'm an ardent fan of SURVIVOR and THE APPRENTICE.

Upfront, I have to say that I expected more from Mark Burnett.

There ARE things to be learned from his approach to doing business. He makes reference quite a lot to 'jumping in', which is a bit of a pun on his paratrooper background.

Problem is that many of his insights and thoughts about business are really just rehashed old bromides. I don't think there are any 'original' insights in this book.

His anecdotes are fascinating. When he drops the business posturing, he's great. Very entertaining, gripping, and educational. But ONLY in the stories he tells.

The biggest disappointment for me is that this book appears to be two things...

    1. It's an advert for his dud show, THE CONTENDER, which he praises lavishly.

    2. It's a way of blowing smoke up the bums of people he's in business with. He uses phrases like, 'the best [fill-in-the-blank] I've ever experienced'. And he uses them often. Specifically when it's to do with people he wants to make money from. Like Donald Trump and Martha Stuart.

It's a good, riveting read, if only for some of the behind-the-scenes stuff. But it's not uncensored. It's not hard-hitting. It's not the bare truth. It's glossy PR-speak.

Worth it if you can find a discount version somewhere.

    Blue skies
    love
    Roy

4 comments about Radical Manifestation: The Fine Art of Creating the Life You Want.
  1. It was hard to get through this book. I actually felt embarrassed for the author. He spends the first half of the book telling you what this program is "not" and why it so special and different. The second half of the book is in fact a poorly presented repackaging of the very authors he mentions in the first half of the book that his program is supposedly so different from.

The author frequently refers to the 80's and 90's, as if to say, yes I know I am not selling anything new. But my program is different because it is not just the mind, but emotion, gratitude and spirit that invite manifestation.

  2. I just attended the Radical Manifestations workshop after reading the book. This book, in addition to the workshop, have been life changing for me. It challenged me to look at my belief system and my old ways of thinking to see if it aligned with what I wanted to manifest in my life. It talks about the fact that although we may say we want certain things to manifest in our life, our old ways of thinking causes us to hold on to what we do not want. Of course this is on a subconscious level so you will not even know what messages in there are blocking things from manifesting in your life. This book helps to shift you to a new way of thinking about money, relationships etc.

The workshop brought all of it home for me. For the first time in a long time, I had a sincere belief that I can actually manifest what I want in my life and I am worthy of having what I want in my life. It was a bonus because he also talks about Radical Forgiveness which was a bonus for me since I had not had this workshop. If you are ready for a change and tired of the same old patterns repeating themselves in your life, I would recommend the book. I would HIGHLY recommend the workshop. Colin and his staff were wonderful.

  3. I believe Colin Tipping has some great information and insight to share with the world, but I felt like this book was just used to get me to purchase his other products. This book would be great as part of an entire program, but alone it leaves you with less than enough information to create a Radical Manifestation in your own life. I think it should be titled as a reference manual for the entire Radical Manifestation program and not be sold seperately unless far greater detail is added.

  4. This book has all the secrets that I have been looking for in hundreds of other books. It is concisely written and easy to understand the answers to the toughest problems. I wish I could buy this book for everyone to read & understand what is happening in the univese and how to play your part. You will love this book.

  1. I read part of it online as you can reviwe the contenet...the book is as amazing as it says so...the cindetion of the book was good and it was delivered raped in plastic,Brand new ..and amazing book to read...

  2. I will inevitably experience some blowback being among the few reviewers furnishing a poor rating for this book; however, as one will note from my reviews I am far less interested in status than I am in upholding the integrity of my reviews with brutal honesty when necessary. I read a number of books every month and it is only logical there will be a portion I do not consider worthwhile of your time.

I do not advocate How to Think Like a Millionaire as the content presented is neither new nor uncommon. When searching through the near endless supply of motivational and self help achievement books, it is evident those works that offer the most benefit introduce new and profound content or inspire one to lasting action. There is nothing among the pages of this book that achieves this.

I admire any author who puts forth the time and effort in an attempt to add value; however, Fisher and Allen merely present a broad summary of some basic principles with writing that lacks any articulate qualities. I would rate this near the bottom among the hundreds of self help books I have read, and thus I do not recommend this book

  3. What is the difference between the millionaires who wrote How to Think Like a Millionaire and you or me? Do they just happen to know the right people? Are they somehow more talented than us? Do they work harder than we do? Were they somehow destined for greatness, and we simply aren't?

According to How to Think Like a Millionaire, the only real difference between the haves and the wish-I-hads is focus. Sure we all wish we had more money, work that we find truly fulfilling, and time to do the things that are really important to us. Unfortunately, most of us never get past the wishing part. If we only spent half as much time and effort on the actual trying to make our dreams come true as we do on making excuses, putting ourselves down, and setting ourselves up for failure we'd be multimillionaires in no time.

Essentially, How to Think Like a Millionaire shows us that the only thing holding us back from our dreams is ourselves. Clarity, focus, and passion are the keys. Dreaming big and making little steps forward will get us closer to our goals.

  4. This is a short and to the point book which explains how to think like a millionaire. The authors explain concisely how to change your thinking about wealth, how to set a goal and how to stick to it. The language is easy to read and the advice offered is common sense, albeit common sense rarely followed. The exercises at the end of the book help the readers apply the concepts in the books to their lives.

About the only quibble I have is that this book is just the latest of many books offering similar advice on how to think your way to wealth. It's fortunately not too new agey, which does make it different from some of the other books out there. I gave it a five, because I think the authors did a good job of explaining the concepts and providing exercises to make those concepts work.

  5. The author of THE INSTANT MILLIONAIRE and author of VISIONARY BUSINESS collaborate in HOW TO THINK LIKE A MILLIONAIRE, now in its second edition covering using the subconscious mind to create winning business strategies and principles. Personal growth and business blend in a formula for success recommended for both new age and business collections - and for general-interest libraries.
