5 comments about The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea.
  1. This is the kind of book that you can't put down. As a matter of fact, I read it twice can plan to read it many more. The authors conveyed the go-giving principle in a most excellent way. I have personally given this book out to several people and will continue to do so. The principles outlined in this book apply to both business and personal living. The whole concept of giving is sound and does reap great rewards. I personally have experiences massive success from using what Bob Burg and John David Mann teaches in this book. Would I recommned it? With no question! As a matter of fact, order serveral copies and practice the Go-Giving principle. If more people practiced the 5-Laws to Stratopheric Success; this would be a different world. The good thing is that YOU can change your world by practicing to be a Go-Giver.

  2. In a world that's been over-saturated with parables on business and life success, The Go-Giver is a standout. It is also a powerfully important message in a world where too many people are listening to radio station WIIFM.

  3. Regardless of what you are doing to earn money or if you are retired there is something to learn in this book. It is very entertaining, with some good humor. The principles taught in this book will move you forward in business and your personal life. I enjoyed reading this book, and would highly recommend it to everyone.

  4. I read a lot of inspirational and motivational books, and I confess that I usually feel good about them for a short while and then gradually forget the details. HOWEVER, with "The Go-Giver", I find myself remembering the principles and putting them into action. And, I don't mean once in a while, but every day since I read the book. It feels as natural as breathing.

The funny thing is the same day I finished reading the book my career started to take off in ways that I never planned nor imagined. I received national recognition in my company (for helping a different department) and I received some lucrative sales referrals from prospects whose business I lost (because even though they turned me down, I still helped them with their charitable work).

Coincidence? I don't know. All I know is I'm ordering extra copies of this book and I'm going to share them with my sales team (and with my kids).

  5. Becci Hall (beccihall@mchsi.com), An Entrepreneur, August 18, 2008,
    Outstanding & Inspirational
Quick read size with a big book message! We can all recite a version of the 'Laws of Stratospheric Success,' but these characters show us how to achieve this type of success ... with honor, ethics and ... giving. These lessons are so natural, everyone should be a Go-Giver! This is a book that will have a place in everyone's heart for years to come.

5 comments about You Can Read Anyone.
  1. I have to admit that if this line wasn't in the book, I would have likely rated this book lower:

"Does this mean you will be able to read anyone with perfect precision, every time? No. The system is not 100 percent foolproof. However, you will gain a definitive statistical advantage in every encounter."

The theory mentioned in this text is sound, but without a good grasp of the context of a situation, the information here is useless. It's important to understand how someone is, the experiences that affect them, and the context of the situation (formal vs. informal for example) so that reactions can be gauged properly.

Another warning about this book: Some of the examples are unclear without a conceptualization of the context, and without a firm grasp of the concept being discussed. It's not unusual to need to reread sections of the book and (to an extreme) ask questions.

As far as who I would recommend this book for... Although the title of the book makes it sound ideal for everybody, it really takes both intelligence and a good character to apply the techniques properly and accurately. When I say good character, I mean someone who is good at avoiding the pitfalls of human nature, such as egotism. Keep in mind that this book is based on Psychological principles, some of which we ourselves are subject to and that can intefere with our ability to use the methods defined here effectively.

  2. I bought the book because I am an Army/ National Guard Recruiter. It is critical for me to be able to "read" people. I interview hundreds of people who want to serve their country. While the Military can certainly motivate someone to hone their leadership/discipline skills it cannot remold character. It is imperative I don't send a child molester, psycho mass murder to Basic Combat Training!

I read the book and took notes. It helped.....a little. I could see where I misread someone in the past and helped me to fine tune my skills but... it cannot replace what you intuitively know.

I am not a person that can meet someone and "read" them. I am a very trusting person. I have been taken in the past. I *can* say that once I have your number... you are toast. However, I am constantly working on improving my skills and this helped...a little.

Would I recommend this book? Not really.

  3. I can see why the book is a Top Seller. The title, topic, and the possibility of the content being great is appealing. However, it's my opinion that in order to have been a great book, consistent with the author's talent and zeal, it should have been twice as long to create clearer thoughts and more connected content. It needed more focused examples, either focusing on law enforcement or business or card playing, not all three. The concepts needed to be better explained with better logic and better continuity.

Though a great book potentially, I had to rewrite sections on note paper in order to have it make sense. I kept getting the picture that the book was transcribed from a free flow of thought recorded between appointments. Then the editor was on vacation when the publisher okay-ed it to be printed.

I suggest the publisher re-release this one in an expanded form. I would buy that version before this one. It has a lot of potential and the author's credentials are the best.

I am reading his other book, How to Change Anybody and am hoping the money was worth it.

  4. This book I find interesting. I don't know if all of what he says checks up with reality however there is only one way to find out.

  5. This is an excellent book, but you really need to invest time in studying and reviewing its contents if you want to master this skill. Well worth the effort if you are serious.

5 comments about Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential.
  1. I have to tell you how eerie (sp?) the book was in timing! Each chapter I read seemed to address something taking place in my life at that very moment. There was a chapter that addressed not putting question marks where God puts periods...which diverted me off of a downsliding path that could have led to real destruction. I recommend this book to EVERYONE.

  2. Beautiful written book! Just as powerful as Prayercatcher by Kathy Lasseter! Both of these books changed my life!

  3. This book literally makes me nauseous. It is such a horrendous corruption of the Gospel that I don't even know what to say about it.

In a nutshell: you cannot believe a word of this book if you have ever read the Bible

Those who believe the ideas put forth in this book will have to ask themselves why missionaries and the persecuted church are being so unbiblical by not living their "best life now"

  4. If you read this book and act on the author's suggestions, you'll feel better about things, your life, yourself, and your future. Osteen, leader of the non-denominational Lakewood Church in Houston, has been unfairly criticized by the media who portray him as some sort of huckster. It's obvious he profits from his ministry, but read the book and you'll understand why. Osteen's approach is gentle, positive, and uplifting. His teachings have greatly enriched the practice of my own faith, Roman Catholicism, and helped me to discover the treasures contained in Holy Scripture. There is also a book of devotionals based on this book. The chapters are brief enough to fit into a busy day, and both books offer a jumping off point to a more faith filled life. If you tend toward pessimism, you will greatly benefit from this book. If your spiritual life feels stale, this one's for you. If God is simply some vague unknown concept, He won't be after this book. A friend gave me Osteen's first two books nearly three years ago, and I found them to be life-changing . I keep them close by for those difficult times when I need a some encouragement.

  5. Ignore the fundamentalists (scribes and pharisees all!) who keep creeping into these reviews and bad-mouthing Olsteen. This is a wonderful book. And I also reccomend watching & listening to Joel's broadcasts too. So refreshing! The world needs more of this kind of positive and encouraging teaching and much less of people like "Sandra F." who keeps admonishing positive reviewers with her little sermonettes and quoting Bible verses to prove her point(s). You can use the Bible to prove anything and you can use the Bible to represent (and justify) a miserable and joyless Christianity - which many have! You take FEAR and GUILT away from these people and their churches would empty out and go broke in a week.

5 comments about Ten Days to Self-Esteem.
  1. This book is a very good resource for those who are battling depression. Whether you are a manic depressive, or just battling low self-esteem, this book breaks down everything for you and even has work book exercises to help you pin point the problem, then work on it. I highly recommend it.

  2. I liked this book. It helped me alot. It was easy to understand but you have to write in it ALOT! You should get "The Feeling Good Handbook" by Dr. David Burns as well. Dr. Burns has you to read different chapters of the book to go along with Ten Days. I had to stop reading Ten Days and get the Feeling Good Handbook before I could finish.

  3. This is an excellent companion to Ellen J. Langer's "Mindfulness". It provides practical techniques for becoming mindful in small decisions that can add up to big problems or big benefits.

  4. 10 Days to Self Esteem is a staple in my practice working with clients coping with depression and anxiety. This is the one workbook where clients will consistently complete the exercises and homework. They have shared that the techniques are understandable and they can see their progress. The Cost benefit analysis is the one technique, however, clients /patients find dificult initially; but then catch on. My clients see improvement in themselves once they go through the entire workbook and that the most important. Thanks so much!
    Debra Irby, LCSW-C

  5. I am still in the middle of reading this book...but so far I am delighted with its primary message: WE ALL HAVE CONTROL OVER OUR OWN MOODS! This book is filled with exercises, checklists and mood inventories...all designed to offer the reader an interactive role in their own healing.

I have struggled with depression my entire life and because of this book am understanding the concept of healing myself through positive thoughts. I would recommend this book to anyone who struggles with depression, regardless of the severity.

5 comments about The Law of Success In Sixteen Lessons by Napoleon Hill (Complete, Unabridged).
  1. This book is awesome. I use it to guide me through personal and business achievements. I have experienced several success results from following the author's theories. I purchased a second book as a graduation gift to my son. He says it answers many of his questions on how to be successful.

  2. I received this book as expected and am pleased with the service. The book is excellent.

  3. The concepts in this book were the one's that the author used to compile "Think and Grow Rich". Buy this book if you are an avid fan of the concepts and principles of success and want to read them in a slightly different format and organization. Otherwise, you can get basically the same information from the compiled book mentioned earlier.

  4. This book is truly a Bible for success, and is full of amazing concepts.

Now you can listen in your car or MP3 player!

This is the ONLY true unabridged audio edition of this book available in the world. This MP3 CDs utilizes the original, unabridged text, thus capturing the entire essence of this all time motivational Classic.

Listen to the sweet sound of success

  5. In reguards to the comment about this book being too long: First, this book (the original which is the 16 lessons version) was out about 10 yrs before "think and grow rich". Second, and more importantly, the depth of this book is essential to living life the way you want to live it. Not just because you want a few good ideas in your head for a couple days only to be forgotten a month later.
For example, what lasts longer: a puddle of water, or an ocean? Of course an ocean. A puddle dries up quickly because it has limited substance. On the other hand, an ocean withstands the droughts.
This is a book for the person who is truly dedicated to the next level. A level of true achievement and freedom the "downers" in life. If your just looking for an interesting read, than purchase think and grow rich.

5 comments about Happier: Learn the Secrets to Daily Joy and Lasting Fulfillment.
  1. I read "Happier" over the Christmas holidays. It is an easy read, maybe even a bit simplistic in its day glo presentation. It is rooted in the "positive psychology" movement, based on a popular course at Harvard. The findings are hardly groundbreaking: happiness, the author contends, is a mixture of small pleasures in the moment and a sense of meaning in life overall. There are practical exercises ("time ins") in each chapter that should help you center your life around things you enjoy.

A few months after reading this book (I did most of the exercises), I am more focused on small pleasures and am feeling happier than I was. I have also maintained a 25 lb weight loss since the holidays, a first for me. I'm not giving all the credit to this book, but I think it's fair to say it might be one of the things that has helped me this year. This isn't the be all, end all pop psych book, but it's worth a read.

  2. I bought this book hoping for a primer on positive psychology. Instead, I got a self-help book which told me pretty much nothing new. A couple of the meditations in the last section were interesting, but overall this book was fairly disappointing.

Also, that whole bit about referring to happiness as the "ultimate currency?" The first time the author mentioned it, it was so stupid and corny I wanted to cry. The fact that it was mentioned again on practically every page from that point on really didn't help.

One good thing though - the author does spend a decent amount of time talking about Czikzhentmihalyi's concept of "flow," which everyone really should get familiar with at some point. It's nice to see it there, but it still doesn't justify buying this book.

  3. I bought this set of 4 cds to listen to on a long road trip, thinking to catch up on the latest popular course at Harvard. We really couldn't listen to them all--it was just too platitudinous and uninteresting. Sometimes people work hard for a goal and then discover that when they attain it they aren't joyous. Pure hedonism can't make you happy, though there are times when a little hedonism is a good thing. Think about the times when you were happy. What were they like? How about meditating a little every day? We were too bored to go on. Probably the point of the book could have been made in one lecture-length cd, but stretching it out to 4 didn't help, so if there is a 'secret' revealed in #4 we missed it.

  4. This book certainly introduces some central concepts which I found illuminating and useful. There are quite a few exercises ("time-ins") which everyone should do at some point in their life, if not regularily. I found some of these to be better than others whilst a few appeared to be there just for the sake of filling up space.

The writing itself is a little self-helpy which is something I couldn't quite get over. I would've liked to have more hard data and information to challenge me in my thinking around the topic. Much of the book is also repetative and I felt it was at times patronising.

It took a bit of concentration to get over the writing but once I focused on the topic at hand, I found the information quite illuminating.

All in all however, if you can get over the writing and into the crux of the topic, I think it's a very useful book and definitely worthy of a good read. Some of the exercises and meditations are useful and are things I would encourage any person to at least try.

  5. This book is a wonderful confirmation of my 77 years on earth. I have given three copies to my psychology compatriates. The basis for happiness is located inside and as with humor, wonder and curiosity fed by our contained energy part. So watch the drains (also in others). Thanks to the author I have freed myself even more from the jealousy of others.

5 comments about The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Pocketbook Guide to Fulfilling Your Dreams (One Hour of Wisdom).
  1. A condensed version of what should be required reading for living, broken down into seven days, Sun. thru Sat. This is not self help in the usual sense. Deepak Chopra, and often co-author David Simon, both MD's, has written some 50 books explaining the universe and our place in it. Topics range from quantum physics to ancient and modern medicine to parenting. This one hour read of spiritual laws is a great introduction.

This is really good stuff !

  2. follow these simple lifely steps and you will be a amazing person and feel great about yourself will get you to where you need to be in life

  3. I first purchased this book in 1995 and have read it countless times since. This is my go to book. When I am feeling down or feel that the things are getting too heavy, this book helps every time. It contains all the principles that one needs to live a rich and balanced life. The Law of Pure Potentiality has stuck with me from the first time that I read it and continues to provide me strength to believe in myself.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is easy to read and the wisdom that it contains is presented in a format that makes understanding the laws effortless. I enjoy each time I read it.

Hemp Eco Friendly Dog Bone Toy: Blue (Small)Organic Quilted Car Seat Cover: TanRobbie Dawg Organic Dog Biscuits: Peanut Butter & Carrot6" Knitted Fabric Dog Toy with Squeaker: Aoki (kitty)Zisc Flying Disc Dog Toy: TangerineLenny Lizard Organic Plush Dog Toy with Squeaker: PinkMarmalade Cheeky Chaise Cat Bed

  4. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success have a lot of good concepts to carry the listener through to the approximately hour-long recording on each of two CDs. Chopra talks about developing detachment as a way to obtain the best out of life. One of the many concepts he talks briefly about is that attachment to money will not bring about security and happiness. He doesn't go into too much detail about each of the concepts because then we'd be buying 100 CDs. He does a good job of pulling the important complicated concepts and putting them into everyday words so that I understand what he's talking about.

This CD has a lot of philosophical, abstract concepts, so I listen to it over and over to digest and apply the concepts. In terms of a practical point of view, Chopra's diction is clear and his presentation is neat and well organized.

Overall, I think this CD is worth the cost.

  5. The book may be short and small, but the Spiritual concepts in it are very big. Spirituality has to be practical to have any real meaning in our lives, and most Spiritual books explain concepts in esoteric terms, but give no explanation of how to apply them in our every day lives.

This book gives clear and concise concepts and follows up with how to apply them in your daily life. Not to be missed!

5 comments about How to Win Friends & Influence People.
  1. My mom turned me on to this book,as well as my partner and if you use the examples in your life situations it will make you a better person and have people respond in a positive way!! It's how you say what you want! It is really amazing! I'm glad my mom found this book! We even bought another to give as a gift! Remommemded to all my friends and family!! It's a book you read over and over again and pick up more, and more. I REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK!

  2. There is something magical about this book. Dale Carnegie must have been a genius in the 30's. The life lessons taught in "How to Win Friends.." are so rock solid as to change a person's life for good. It has already started to change the course of my life.

From the very first chapter, I started to feel the veil being removed from my eyes. I had been doing so much wrong in relating to people that the common sense - but often over-looked - advice by Carnegie was a huge wake up call.

Just one of the pieces of advice that really woke me up was this: Every single person wants to feel important - and you can provide this by speaking in terms of their interests - not yours. By doing this you feed them their importance and they relay their kindly demeanor and possibly friendship towards you. Simple? Perhaps. But mind-blowingly effective if you hadn't really picked up on it before.

The "yes, yes" approach was clever and effective. Get people to say yes a few times before you ask them a question, to sort of get their systems in an agreeable mood. But if they say "no" to something first, then their systems are in a state of withdrawal and will more likely get them telling you no to your question.

This is merely a tad of the great advice this book gives. If there were ever a definitive "people skills" book. This is it! I have no regrets buying and reading this book, and will in fact read this book again right away, even though I just finished it. It's worth it to really digest the information I would say.

If you or someone you know is shy or unsure of himself or herself around other people, then get this book! There will be no regrets, at least I can't see how their could be. And if you want to further enhance your life, I would recommend picking up "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey. These books prove that their is power in reading, as long as you chart the right course of literature.

  3. This book can, and will change your life if you will only take the time to read it, absorb the material and put it into practice and the great thing is it's so easy! It was only once I read this book that I realized where I was going wrong both in my social and professional interactions with others, come to think of it, I'm amazed anyone liked me at all! The content of this book, even though it was written years and years ago, is just as valid now as it was then because people don't change. Everyone, no matter who they are wants to be respected, to be appreciated, to be listened to, to be accepted, to feel like they matter; these things will never change whether the year is 1936 or 2050 because human nature is what it is.

What is astounding is that so many people just have no clue when it comes to social interaction and conversing with others yet they could easily correct all this with one reading of "How To Win Friends And Influence People". I personally know a girl who is 32 years old and is stunningly beautiful yet she doesn't have a friend in the world, still lives at home with her parents and cannot find a partner no matter how hard she tries because the only person she thinks about is herself, she has no interest in anything else. Her personality, to put it bluntly, is quite frankly repulsive. It is so frustrating for me because I know her life could improve so dramatically if she would only read this book and put the principles into practice but I know that if I suggested she read it, she would be insulted. So many people say that what Carnegie has to say is "obvious". Well if that is the case, why do so few practice these simple principles?

There is a good reason that this book has been around for years and is one of the best selling books of all time- it's because it's true and it works. So many self help books have since tried to rip off Carnegie's principles and regurgitate the material to try and make a fast buck but his book is still the original and by far the best. Buy it, read it, and your life will change for the better- that's a promise.

  4. The author used great examples to help illustrate lessons. Strongly recommend this to everyone who works in an office or with people in general.

  5. This is the roadmap and field book for developing and maintaining healthy and unselfish interactions with others. What does another person need to hear in the first 30-seconds to get their attention? Why should you see a situation from the other person's point of view and what will happen if you don't? This book is filled with real life vignettes that illustrate the power of having a winning attitude. A must for anyone, and those in sales will love it! You will find yourself reading it again and again and using it as a reference tool.

5 comments about Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised.
  1. great for idiots who think they are smart,

a lot of scientific studies in this book have been proven false..

you cant get rich with this stuff, go to college instead,

also get books written by CEO's with years of experience

instead of by some loser that was exploited by Dale Carnegie

... yeah it all makes sense now doesn't it

  2. A classic. Principles of getting rich are mentioned. Even though I didn't get rich, it did help me achieve
    another goal.

Topics like Desire, Faith, Autosuggestion and Specialized Knowledge
are all essential to get rich. I do feel something is missing
from this book. Great violinists and pianists can also be
rich but I don't think they have to begin with the first chapter:
Desire (for money). They simply have a temperament, gift,
and passion for music. Because the perform well in their
professions, the money comes in naturally.

This book might have made some people rich but I don't
think it's the only way. To be fair, no reading of any single
book can make you rich. You need to have understanding,
practice, and application of what you've read - together
    with other books.

I am not rich yet so I give this classic 3 stars.

Besides, "The mystery of sex transmutation" is no longer a
mystery. The male reproductive system and the brain both
compete for the same protein tyrosine (with B6, copper,
iron etc). More tyrosine for one will deprive the other part
    of the body - naturally.

  3. If you want an action tool to use to follow all the principles of this great book, read and apply Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook, you will not be disappointed. You will enjoy the combination of these 2 books.

  4. There is no such thing as a perfect book. People tend to see things in black and white, well there's nothing completely black or white; there's only shades of gray. You can get some good advice out of most books, even if a little. But there is no perfect book that presents you a complete and truthful view of the road to success.

Many books appear to be unreasonable in some of its content; but lucky us we are born with a powerful tool that helps us discern between what we should take and leave from a book: common sense. I should use it, and you probably should too.

This book is no exception. Personally, I would suggest that you read the first part of the book with a higher focus than the rest. It is very inspirational, and explain a success principle that, even though very common nowadays in other books, is still of major importance. For someone who hasn't read much of success books, these chapters are a good start.

The metaphysics and new age theories that Napoleon Hill proposes should be taken with a measure of healthy skepticism. To believe in them is a personal choice, and you should use your common sense to decide.

To people that has read many success books before, this book proposes nothing new. Though I should state this around, as this book came first than most of the others. It basically tells how you need to have a burning desire to achieve success, and have faith that you will succeed. Mostly, it presents this with an inspirational tone; so if you're looking to get your spirit up, try it.

  5. First of all I have yet to recieve this product. I thought this website was reliable as far as products getting sent and such. I am very disappointed and feel ripped off!!
