1 comments about Unleashing Your Authentic Power: Resistance-Free Living.
  1. This book is a preachy, watered down, unacknowledged rip-off of the Sedona Method by Hale Dwoskin. Although it predates Hale's book, the Sedona Method course goes back several decades with both Hale and Lester Levenson, the technique's originator. The author pontificates at length about all the ways we get hung up in life while offering very little in the way of SPECIFIC instruction for doing anything about it.

I give it two stars because the information is not irrelevent, just severely limited. There are a few insights that may be of interest to seasoned releasers. Other authors, like Patricia Carrington, have managed to put their own spin on Sedona Method-like techniques and to make a valuable contribution in the process. Britt just avoids the issue almost entirely.

I would very much recommend The Sedona Method by Hale Dwoskin over this space holder. Can you tell? Check out the SM book - it actually delivers.

5 comments about Creating Affluence: Wealth Consciousness in the Field of All Possibilities (Chopra, Deepak).
  1. I read "The Seven Spiritual Laws", which perked my interest in this book. I liked this book. It had the A - Z points for affluence and abundance. Plus a terrific list of ideas/words to meditate on in order to bring your mind into balance with your desires. Practical guidlines for persons not used to meditation. And additional scientific information on how the principle of affluence works. How can one go wrong?

  2. This book although very short, should be required reading! From "abundance" to "zest", it covers just about everything required to lead a content, happy, productive and profitable life. I have owned this book for about 8 years and have re-read it many, many times.

The introduction sets the whole tone of the book by stating "there is power in knowledge, desire and spirit, and this power within you is the key to creating affluence". We realize quickly that it is our inborn nature to be abundant... to be affluent. By desiring something, stating our intention, then letting go of our attachment to it, we can recieve all that we desire from life, wether in money, love, position or anything else we may seek.

The first part of the book discusses quantum reality and how we and everything else in our world are all made of the same "stuff", which is primarily energy... or "non-stuff". What makes one thing different from another is the arrangement and quantity of these impules of energy and information.

Part one of the book gives one or two simple ideas under each letter of the alphabet that are short, sweet and very much to the point. Beacuse it is in such an easy to read and brief format, this is the kind of book you will want (and the author suggests you do) read over and over again. Depending on where you are with your life at any given moment, you will pull something more out of it with each reading.

Part two of the book discusses our similarities to the unified field. It discusses the 25 charachteristics of the field and how these are also the characteristics of "Brahman, the source of all creation, as described in the Veda, the classic spiritual text of India". This part, although intersting, was not as good as part one, but overall I still have to rate this book as one of the best I have ever read!

This book will only take an hour or two to read but the messages it sends are timeless... read it again and again so you don't miss a word! It's fantastic!

  3. I love this tape! It's very grounding and I never tire of listening to Dr. Chopra. I had been in a situation where I had tried for over 6 weeks to land a new job. After going on countless interviews and being told "we will be in contact" then never hearing back, I felt the interview I went to on 11/8 would be much of the same. On 11/9 I went to the library and came across the audio cassette. I listened to it daily, just enjoying Dr. Chopra's insites and his reading of the A to Z list. On 11/12 I had 5 messages on my machine responding to my resume, including the interviewer from 11/8 wanting a second interview. On 11/13 I went for the second interview and was hired on the spot. I would be making more money and have more independence than my previous position! And I could feel a distint, yet subtle shift in my perceptions of the world and I could just feel happiness and the Zest for life he mentions. I highly recommend. In fact, I am going to place an order right now for my own copy of this wonderful tape!

  4. I can't begin to do justice to this remarkable tape by Dr. Chopra. His words and philosophy have enriched my life in both subtle and profound ways. A short while after I began to listen to this tape, my life began to offer me wealth & opportunities that simply came my way, without any effort and this flow of wealth & opportunities has continued throughout the five years I have had this tape in my possession. The real beauty of this tape is that you need only to listen to it, (which I do every day in my car), and the wealth and affluence, that according to Dr. Chopra are what the Universe(GOD)wants for us, begin to make a presence in your life without any special effort on your part. So BUY THIS TAPE, (I have the book too, but it really is better if you can listen to the tape every day). Just listen every day and your life will change in fabulous ways, I guarantee it!

  5. This book can make you feel better about anything. Kind of unusual as it goes A to Z a dictionary of Affluence. You may think of this book as a friend that you can always trust for support!

1 comments about Creative Problem Solving: The Door to Individual Success and Change.
  1. This book reminds me of an interpersonal class I took at college. In one of the chapters I believe it's chapter # 8 Mr. Dombroski talks about the conscious & subconscious mind. We as Americans are so worried about proper adequate that we fail to be creative. We are subconsciously so worried about how are opinions look that we fail to be creative. Thomas W. Drombroski has written a book that literally everybody should read. This book shows the reader that they're really is no boundaries as far as being creative. Who says you can't color outside the lines? I have every intention of going back to what I've should have been doing and being creative and not worrying about how my ideas look to other people. The book is set up like a college text with excercises and examples. The book is worth the little price Amazon wants for it. The Author Mr. Thomas W. Dombroski has earned my utmost highest respect for reminding me how to be creative. It'll do the same for you. I suggest you buy it.

5 comments about The Practical Dreamer's Handbook: Finding the Time, Money, & Energy to Live the Life You Want to Live.
  1. At last, a book that gives us permission to dream and a guide on how to bring those dreams to fruition. Only Paul and Sarah could have written such a book. So often others tell us to forget our dreams and merely live as the rest of the world. But in "The Practical Dreamers Handbook" we're told it's all right to have these dreams and to act on them. I've noticed a different writing style from Paul & Sarah..one of peace and tranquility. Thank you Paul and Sarah for this book.

  2. A practical guide written in a manner that touches the senses. If you are at a crossroads in your life, this book will help you get in touch with your true self and make a life-changing decision with confidence. As Sarah so aptly said, it's about "....seizing on fortuitous serendipity." If you are yearning for a change in your life, you will find it hard to put this book down.

  3. The gurus of working from home have done it again-- managed to package a personal coaching experience into the pages of their latest work, The Practical Dreamer's Handbook. I wasn't looking for a book that would change my life, but I sure found it. With their usual practical hands-on approach to working through a problem, the authors have provided us with the means to evaluate our life, choose our dream, and find tangible ways to achieve our goals.

From visualization exercises to training us to set measurable goals that can be attained, Paul and Sarah Edwards provide us with the tools to finally live our dream. I started reading this book on a Friday afternoon, and by Sunday I had rewritten my business plan and set some personal goals with my spouse. I guess you could say it has changed my life, and I plan to practice these techniques for continued success and stress-free living. Many thanks to this talented pair who continue to share their secrets and talents with the rest of us.

  4. This is not a get rich quick or what I would call a yuppie new age mode book. But rather a well thought out book that is laid out in Three Parts with sub sections that cover everything from DESIRE -Awakening the Dream which then discusses Imagining, believing and being committed to creating what one seeks. To ACTION-Building a New Reality, which discusses following a plan or thread, finding the money, making the time, and having the needed energy. Part three is SATISFACTION-Enjoying Yourself, and is about feeling fulfilled and appreciating the ongoing process that never ends, but is always evolving.

The Parts on finding the time and money to go after ones goals were excellent if for no other reason than for the common sense shared. Challenging people to be quiet and be honest and look at how much time we waste doing nonsensical things, and spending money we should be saving for the goal. And the authors were smart to tell the reader to even downsize, and move to a smaller less expensive home or area if this will provide the extra income one needs to create the extra income one needs to have ones goals. That even cutting back on lunch everyday and taking a bag lunch or going for a walk will save a good 25-50 dollars a week that can be stuck away in a goal savings account.

They also are great at making the reader think about what do we REALLY want and WHY? Are we honest enough to realize that it could take 3-5 years before we see a payoff? Are we willing to put in the needed elbow grease to get the goal?

But most important to me was reading and being constantly encouraged to NOT give up. So many people grew up in homes where lofty goals were either not encouraged or sadly laughed at. The authors tell the reader that the world is full of naysayers and people who will laugh at dreamers. Yet ever notice how the nerd in school that everyone laughed at, becomes famous and has more friends from high school that were in the whole school in ten years?

    Good book. Read it!

  5. I read this book in one sitting back in 2000 when I was still a newspaper photographer wrestling with the choice of my chosen career path. This book details a couple who left steady jobs behind the follow their dream of opening a b&b. I furiously highlighted passages and scribbled notes in the margins as I read. The next day, I bought a binder and stayed up all night drafting sections a business proposal. It took a little while, but I was eventually able to leave a full-time job with benefits and job security and launch my own wedding photography business. The idea of creating your own career path and not just following one was definitely not on the best seller radar then like it is now. And that book is what I lead with when I talk to photographers now about following their heart. It changed my life. Seriously.

1 comments about Moving Up: Dr. Sujay's Ten Steps to Turning Your Life Around and Getting to the Top!.
  1. Life is a journey, a series of significant steps one takes, sometimes forward, sometimes backward, but always important. --Dr. SUJAY

One of Dr. Cook's primary goals in MOVING UP is to capture reader's spirit and advance them to what she terms an 'UPness'. Her ten steps, on which she offers in-depth teachings, are simply: Stand Up, Speak Up, Look Up, Book Up, Kiss Up, Listen Up, Hang Up, Make Up, Wake Up and Cheer Up.

Dr. Cook shares a priceless message that liberates and invigorates, and which does not bow to negative forces. Whether your nemesis is a changing career, dealing with the challenges of life and age, or simply relocating to another city, you can face these situations head-on, and with every confidence. With biblical references and doses of her life, as a wife, mother and pastor, Dr. Cook underscores each one of the steps. At the end of the chapters are suggestion and short exercises to further enhance the messages. All of the chapters are expressive and informative, but the chapters on finding the clear beginning and clear ending of relationships, refusing to stay offended and practicing forgiveness, are excellent.

MOVING UP charts only ten 'ups', but Dr. Cook hopes each reader will incorporate some ups of their own and take them to a higher level. Dr. Cook is deeply rooted in her religion, and along with her message on the importance of having God in your life, she also shares the blessings for the natural side of life, but only if you stay focused, committed and positive. This is a wonderfully uplifting and inspiring read.

  1. This book has many good tips and is a worthwhile read. Women do not need to dress or act like men to succeed. But there are lessons to learn from the men if we want equal opportunity and the salaries to match - especially where self-promotion is concerned. Men learn quickly the value of visibility both inside and outside the corporate environment. Joining community and charitable organizations, as well as being active in trade groups are two techniques that bring positive results. Also, and unlike successful businessmen, women show far too much humility about their accomplishments. If we want people to value our skills, listen to what we have to say, and pay us what we deserve, we must first show that we value ourselves - by making sure our accomplishments are visible to carefully targeted audiences. If we want people to hire us, buy from us, or invest in our companies, they have to know who we are, what we have accomplished and why they should do business with us! (Marion E. Gold is author of Personal Publicity Planner: A Guide to Marketing YOU and Top Cops: Profiles of Women in Command)

  2. To those who have read no other advice books I write this for you,

1st Go to the library and check out six random books of this genre. The material does not change much over time, company, or sex. The books will not magically make you more successful, it will take YEARS to build a base to climb.

2nd If you have to "out man a man" then you started going down a different path then the men and "you" need to change your perception of how to advance.

3rd Attempting to stand out by dressing different and stating that it is because you are a woman says to your coworkers that when you think about your job in the morning the first thing that comes to mind is what you are going to wear simply stereotypes the situation even more. This applies to men as well as women, as much of the advice that was "purloined" and placed in this "book."

4th Do not attack the company for a higher position. They only care about their profit and appearance. Making it expensive to promote someone else ahead of you creates dead ends.

5th Networking starts young. This is not emphasized enough. Contacts are very important. Do NOT relegate yourself solely to female networking. You will need to know the information that goes on at business vacations and the clubs. Know thy enemy.

  3. Thank you, Kelly, for writing such a fun and anecdotal guide to getting the job you truly want! You know exactly what it takes and you tell the reader exactly how to get from Point A to Point B in the quickest way possible. I loved all of your personal stories and the checklists in the back of the book were extremely helpful. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a change of pace--and a better view--in their current workplaces. (PS: I was promoted after reading the advice in this book. It really works!)

  4. I wish I had read this 20 years ago after I graduated from college and before I entered the work force. I have experienced many of the things she speaks about and her advice is right on the money.

  5. This is an easy to read and humorous book for someone new to the workplace. I don't agree with some advice - such as "absolute no bringing home cooking to the workplace." There are business settings where it is appropriate and adds to the atmosphere and both sexes contribute. There are some helpful references and additional resources to check out.

5 comments about Goal Digger: Lessons Learned From The Rich Men I Dated.
  1. Once I recieved the book in the mail, I had finished reading it by the next evening. I am a 27 year old single mother trying to provide a secure future for my little one, and there just weren't any books from a female perspective that were as entertaining or as juicy to read as Alicia's book. I gave it to my mom and my best friend to read as well. :-)

  2. What makes this book stand out is that most so called 'self help reads' have a written poster in the text of a Eagle soaring above the Mountains saying 'Be Successful' with little else to back it up. Goal Digger works because she was brave enough to tell her real "don't turn away" story and that makes her one of us. These lessons connect because you can see if she did it, so can I. You can flip the pages, see the Millionare Memos and instantly get inspired. I've had the pleasure to work with Alicia and call her a friend. Five minutes in her company and you will see that the words in this book are alive inside her with each step she takes. Thanks for sharing Alicia and helping to add this amazing power to my life.

  3. I pretty much exclusively read biz books and found that this one for me was very different. The author helped me be reminded how much women have to overcome, general methods and thinking for success that would help anyone, and how messed up dating is in general. Ms. Dunams bears her soul in this quick read and any woman would love this book.

Next time you know your going to be stuck on an 8 hour flight, this is the book to grab.

  4. The book is a 'female diary turned financial lesson' that will provide every woman with a powerful tease and steps of action to take on their road to financial freedom. It is bold, honest and entertaining even for men. Quick read with great millionaire memos to go back and review.

  5. In a great show of how powerful the female perspective is in explaining business and money success principles, this motivational self-help mixes juicy stories, with practical business and wealth enhancing strategies. You will be inspired by Alicia's personal journey and awed by the power of the lessons she's uncovered. Alicia's message of -Why marry a millionaire when you could just become one yourself- is an extremely important one for women to hear. I caught myself underlining key points throughout this entertaining and enjoyable read. Full of great content and advice in an easy to read format.
