  1. Recently, I've been very impressed with this exceptionally witty, intelligent and user-friendly book.

At a point in my own life where the cumulative effects of work-related stress, not to mention a life-long love affair with good food, have begun to show up in the state of my health, I've been primed for any credible knowledge and insight into effective countermeasures.

I started regular workouts after a hiatus of several years...that has helped a lot. Golf season returned, which is always a blessing, if you like playing in monsoon rains. Then an old and close friend, Bob Nadler, recommended I take a look at this book, of which he happens to be co-author along with a couple of experts in the fields of nutrition and life extension.

I've found a scientifically grounded "one-stop-shop" manual of useful, real-world information and guidance on the comprehensive subjects of nutrition, exercise, life extension, supplements, sexuality, immunity, and of course, the various "flavors" of stress and their effects on aging. Every aspect of the subject is mined in the book, underscored by its pervasive impact on our health and sense of well being.

Moreover, it's written in a crisp, engaging style, making a complex body of well-researched (there's an extensive bibliography) and extremely relevant facts and recommendations entertaining and easy to assimilate. The structure of the book allows you to find almost any topic with ease. The style and humor comes from Bob's unique talent as a writer.

I'm not usually in book recommendation mode, but this is a special case. I think a person of any age, let alone those of us approaching the shady side of 60, can find enormous value in this informative, absorbing read...I already have, and I urge you to consider it for yourself and the ones you love.

  1. Review of Feel Better Now...Meditation
    by Gary Halperin

If you have thought that meditation is some arcane art requiring uncomfortable postures, long study of eastern mysticism, or mastery of esoteric jargon, you will be refreshingly surprised by Gary Halperin's book. Meditation, as described in Feel Better Now...Meditation, requires none of that.

In clear, simple and gentle language, he explains -- often using amusing illustrations from everyday life -- what meditation is, how to do it and what benefits you may expect from the practice. As a long-term meditator, I found the book an excellent review, and even picked up a few new hints.

I am also a churchgoing Christian. Some Christians think the practice of meditation is in opposition to Christian principles. While I respect their right to their views, I believe that meditation in no way contradicts, interferes with or dilutes my practice of my religion. Many Christians, including clergy, practice some form of meditation.

If you want to learn how to meditate or review the basics, this book is for you. Once I started reading it, I could hardly put it down.

    Roger Connor

  2. This book is a must have! It's very well written and edited, and explains meditation so clearly and understandably. You can sense the author's keen knowledge of his subject and his enthusiasm for meditation. Feel Better Now...Meditation is the perfect gift for everyone you know who is under stress, and who isn't these days?! It's pocket-size so you can carry it with you easily for handy reference. There are other books on the subject out there, but this book captures the essence of the meditative process and its benefits better than any other. The accompanying illustrations are delightful too.

  3. We love this book because yoga and meditation are relaxing. This book explains how to meditate in easy-to-understand language so kids can understand it. When we feel a little stressed out, we take Feel Better Now: Meditation out of our pockets and find a quiet spot to meditate. Then we go back to what we were doing and feel so much calmer. We recommend this book to everyone.

  4. With all the different meditation techniques out there today, it can be very confusing. This book, Feel Better Now: Meditation, is an easy to read and use book that is great for both beginners and for more advanced practitioners who may want a refresher course. Halperin has an open, non-threatening teaching technique that is welcoming and accepting. He helps you understand that there is no one right way to meditate. Also, the book is compact and easy to take with you when you travel. I highly recommend this book.

  1. I love this tape! There is so much more than instruction or information here - there is experience. When I listen to the tape I am not just listening to words or being emotionally moved but I am interacting on a spiritual level. The content is massive and yet so simply delivered.

The Meditation side of the tape has been so helpful even though I have meditated for years. The author gives great suggestions on getting comfortable and quieting the mind and emotions. The short guided meditation at the end is simple, effective, and worth doing every day.

The Needs side of the tape is mind-blowing. It introduced me to an entirely different way of understanding my relationship to the world and to others. The tape shines a new light on what it is to have a need and how to get a need met. My awareness has greatly expanded from listening to the Needs side. I found the author's treatment of love and abundance especially profound. A helpful meditation is included at the end of this side as well.

I am grateful that this tape is a part of my life. It never grows stale or irrelevant. I highly recommend this tape!
