5 comments about Going Off: A Black Woman's Guide for Dealing with Anger and Stress.
  1. I'm glad somebody chose to write a book on this topic. However, the solutions offered are too simplistic.

  2. This book wanders all over the place, has too many stories, and not enough concrete suggestions. There are definitely better books on the topic of women and anger.

  3. Going off is a must read. I'm glad that there is finally a book dedicated anger issues that are specific to Black women.
I found the anger styles to be most helpful, especially the
    solutions.

  4. This book is remarkable. Finally, there is a resource that can be used to help understand, explore, and empower Black women. It is truly a joy to read.

  5. I bought these books for gifts and kept one for myself. I am very pleased with the price, and the books came in perfect condition.Excellent value!!

5 comments about Healing Your Body, Mind, and Soul.
  1. The title promises information about healing. The delivery is New Age blather and idiotic platitudes. I wish I had the author's gift for playing on the fears of the public and relieving them of their hard earned money. If I did, I'd be able to retire.

  2. Cell memory can be a very bland subject while disease is certainly no laughing matter. However, Sylvia Browne presents both in a humorous, entertaining fashion on a two-cassette tape set entitled HEALING YOUR BODY, MIND AND SOUL produced by the Hay House. Browne has made her living over a number of decades as a psychic and more recently as a talk show celebrity and lecturer. In all those years, one would expect that she has collected a good amount of stories, and it seems as though she presents most of them at this two-hour Learning Annex program in San Diego. In fact, after Side One of the first tape, I was beginning to think that her lecture was on digression rather than cell memory.

Nevertheless, Browne presents some very valid points. She purports the theory that individual cells have memory and register and retain feelings for a lifetime. However, a cell's lifetime is much shorter than our own. So what happens when a cell becomes extinct? Does it pass on its memory to progeny? How do cells interact to keep a subliminal memory alive and thus affect an illness? And, more important, how do we actually reprogram individual cells? Although Browne digresses a great deal, she does not digress into the scientific area at all. Her theories are primarily based on observations and accounts of family members, friends and clients as one might expect from a psychic.

Despite the emphasis on entertainment rather than substance, to her credit Browne does pose some inspiring wisdom to live by. To be covered by a blanket of spiritual love is far better than carrying the yoke of guilt. Forgiveness is essential to healing and maintaining both a healthy body and mind. And - my favorite from Browne's grandmother - within your weakness lies your strength sleeping. Browne also admits that some transgressions are far too serious for us to forgive. We must give them to God to be forgiven. Here she emphasizes that it is far more important to forgive ourselves for being human than to carry the guilt of not being able to forgive. On the second tape, Browne really digresses reflecting on such diverse topics as her clients' diseases, their past lives, her views of religion, and the afterlife. According to Browne, we have nothing to fear. The afterlife is sheer enjoyment. And you can bring along your pet if you like. They allow animals. Although valued mostly for its entertainment, the second tape does have a beneficial meditation, but most of it is the kind of thing you will find on the TV talk shows, tending toward sensationalism rather than solid substance.

  3. SORRY I DON'T AGREE WITH THE OTHER REVIEWS. SYLVIA MADE ME LAUGH AND SHE MADE ME CRY. IN OTHER WORDS I WAS ENTERTAINED - THIS IS THE REASON WE READ AND LISTEN TO THESE TAPES. SYLVIA IS REFRESHING. SHE ALWAYS LIFTS ME. SHE'S A BREATH OF FRESH AIR IN THIS STALE WORLD...

  4. As one of the walking wounded, with physical disabilities, chronic illnesses and a past history of different forms of abuse, I believe that this "book" would be a wonderful place to get started on one's journey into personal self-help and healing. I found Sylvia Browne's sense of humor to be delicious! She lets you know that it IS ok to laugh, cry and be angry because that is a part of life but that it should be done in a positive rather than negative way.

The tape's value lies in that you learn basics about Sylvia Browne as a person while ALSO learning a basic relaxation technique meant to calm, relieve stress and negativity through prayer and taking the time to meditate/relax in order for you to receive God's blessings and healing.

I started with "Tools For Life" before this purchase, hoping that this tape would expand upon the principals in the other tape series. While I learned more about Sylvia Browne, I had hoped for a little more foundational information. For this reason, my "rating" is a bit lower than it would have been had I started with this tape series.

Sylvia Browne is a lovely, caring person who devotes herself to helping others find the peace and faith she has found and applied to her life. God Bless and Love her! I know I do!

  5. This is a really great series showing people how they can remove painful stem cell memories and so forth and it does work it out. There's one thing wrong with this: IT ISN'T BEING OFFERED ON CD. This is 2007. If it can be put on Audio Download format, it can be put on a CD. I hope this is seen by the eyes of the Hay House. Well, I hope they fix this problem ASAP. It's a wonderful series and I love it so much but I'd like to have the series on CD.

  1. In order to download her cd's to an mp3 you must first purchase a $50 program ... so how much of that fee is she getting? So I did not listen to her work in its entirety because I did not wish to sit at a computer to do so. Sorry Kelly, it seems the fear / consumer / ripe off the consumer society we live in has just been reinforced by your policies ... wonder if you wear black all the time - it's the color of fear / kidney issues. if you hear her voice you can hear something that is not right ... lots of luck ... I would not buy / support her works.

  2. This collection of CDs changed my life. They have subliminally changed my outlook about myself and things around me had rearranged to my advantage ~ almost like MAGIC! Good things came one after the other. Believe and all the power of these CDs will bring out your FULL POTENTIAL!
Thanks Kelly!!! Keep doing what you are doing!

  1. This is an incredible little tape. Side 1 is the guided imagery which is I guess about 20 minutes and side 2 has some reinforcement phrases to say to yourself. The guided imagery is terrific. She takes you to a s pecial place, you address your immune system directly, telling it you're ok and they can stand down, and she helps you surround yourself with support. The first time I listened I cried like I hadn't cried in a long time. I didn't know how much I had kept inside. It is such a good tape I can't say enough.

  2. I found this tape one of the most healing avenues that I have tried. It helps me to let go of the tense, and feelings whether they are mental or physical. It is a gift to yourself to try this tape. I love it.

  3. With a soothing voice Belleruth Naperstek leads the listener to a sense of peace through calming meditative words. It would seem to be helpful to anyone contending with cancer. It is not, however, as helpful to those experiencing other cancer related disease, especially blood related. Leukemia, for example, would require very different images. Still, it would be somewhat helpful to someone with leukemia or lymphoma if they are not terrible distracted by the brief imagery specifically related to tumor cancers.

  4. I copied this CD to my iPod and listen to it every time I take the dog for a walk, which is often. My scans went from bad to really good in a year. The oncology nurse was startled with the results and asked, "What are you doing?"
I've cleaned up my diet (almost no sugar, as cancer cells love sugar), lost body fat with diet and exercise, take detox supplements, and don't obsess over the cancer. I was supposed to be dead 6 years ago and up until the last year was just getting by. Maybe something on the scan would be a little better but something else would be worse. It was frustrating.
I attribute a great deal of the healing to the guided imagery and affirmations on this disk. The guided imagery is so moving. The emotions really well up and I'm a little sad when it's over. Sometimes I listen two and three times in a row because it reaches so deeply within.
I can't recommend it highly enough. I'd give it 10 stars if that were possible.

  5. As a person who has MS, I enjoy this tape for its calming and serene effect on body, mind and spirit. I recommend this.
