5 comments about Forever Ours: Real Stories of Immortality and Living from a Forensic Pathologist.
- This book was so comforting to read. I bought it for myself, but I think it would be a great gift for someone going through a loss of someone close to them. The book doesn't make judgements, it just talks about real life people experiencing life and beyond.
- Both books of hers are OK, I guess. It seemed to me that both books pretty much stated the same stuff, nothing different. I was looking forward to more on the scene stories.....oh well, she was great on CTC....
- As soon as we are born, we are all on a path towards death. It's the one great certainty. We don't know for sure if we are going to find love, get a great job, or have children but we know unequivocally that we all will die. With that said, death is generally something that both fascinates us and causes great anxiety. Despite that everyone has an opinion, no one knows for sure what happens after this life is over. Death is probably the world's greatest mystery.
Forever Ours looks at death from an interesting perspective. The author is a forensic pathologist. Part of her job is to talk to the deceased person's relatives and give them information about the cause of death. The author seems like a very caring, empathetic individual who realizes that how she handles each situation is far more important that simply getting a job done. I think it is for this reason that so many patients, relatives, and colleagues have opened up to her about their experiences: about living, about death, about life after death, and about life after the death of a loved one.
Forever Ours is a very insightful book that I would highly recommend to everyone.
- This book became a bridge for me when my beloved husband, John, died of cancer in 2004. A staff member at my church sent Forever Ours to me. John remains closer to me than I thought possible, while I have a beautiful life as I look forward daily to new experiences.
This makes a great gift for grieving people. Death is not to be feared but is the next step with its' own blessings.
- This is the first book I read after my daughter died in March. A friend loaned me her copy. It was very comforting and uplifting. I bought my own copy so that I could have it to reread and to allow others to read as well.

5 comments about Joy's Way, A Map for the Transformational Journey: An Introduction to the Potentials for Healing with Body Energies.
- I have been seeking and studying in the Personal/Spiritual Growth field for over 20 years and have explored many varied avenues. This book is written at the Intermediate level. It takes times to absorb the material and open to our own "spiritual inner voice", with honesty and unconditional love. After reading the book I was fortunate to attend Brugh's workshop and learn in more depth about chakras, the I Ching, dreamwork, and other spiritual tools. A great read, an honest and insightful teacher.
- A very worthwhile book for anyone interested in healing or alternative medicine.
- I attended a workshop with this dangerous charlatan. I was truly shocked by what I witnessed. This self-procliamed messiah had an almost hypnotic effect on his devotees. He appealed to their egos by telling them they are the "chosen ones" privy to the wisdom of the "ancient mystery schools." But there's a catch,to be a part of his special circle one must embrace thier darkness. "I am the darkness" is the mantra of those who follow this man. And the results are what you might expect puppet-like people who slump and then stand to attention depending on their master's pull of the string.
- I love this book and recommend it to others interested in healing and personal growth. Dr. Joy is a dedicated, sincere, and gifted healer and teacher. His workshops are a source of healing and inspiration for so many. I believe that the negative reviews here stem from an ignorant misunderstanding of the term "shadow", which is a Jungian term for the rejected parts of our personality, which can become toxic if not recognized and reassimilated. There is nothing at all "dark" or sinister about this book or this man. And "kundalini crisis"??? Please! Show me one and we'll talk. Please read this book and expand your healing horizons.
- I read this book back in 1984 and totally loved it. I am now rereading it after I have had to take greater responsibility for my health after an extended period of illness. Once again, I am finding it a great read, full of inspiration, and a great guidebook for healing.

Our Subconscious Minds are the Genies and it's up to us to let them out of the bottle and command them.
I learn a great deal about the power of the Subconscious mind from this book. I learned about the Law of Supply; how to get strong desire working for me; the impact of visualizing; the formula for Success, and much much more.
Please read it, you'll be glad you did!

5 comments about Arise from Darkness: What to Do When Life Doesn't Make Sense.
- Fr. Benedict Groeschel is a perceptive speaker and writer. His deft understanding of psychology and spirituality make a synthesis that is illuminating and understandable. No mere intellectual, he gives a wealth of examples for every topic he pursues. 'Arise from Darkness' gives clear treatment for the darker mysteries of life: death and suffering. Like other gifted authors, he takes the drudgery of the hardest aspects of life and delivers his audience with explanations and anecdotes providing meaning and healing. He doesn't ever back down from his topic. Even the captions and chapters tell a great deal of the story: "When Our Security Is Threatened," "When the Church Lets Us Down," and "When Death Robs Us". He is as direct as you can get. He has several honest diagnoses, including "We are afraid to live, and even more afraid to die." Insightful and ruggedly pedestrian, Fr. Groeschel and his book can help us live up to his title and "Arise from Darkness".
- I am 19 years old and I just lost my dad to cancer a few months ago. Fr. Groeschel has given me hope and wisdom through his clear and very understanding words. I can tell he is a man that truly does care for and love those like myself who are experiencing tragedy and pain like this.I strongly recommend it for anyone who has lost someone who was an essential person in their life.
- Father Benedict beautifully imparts all you need to know of how to overcome all your worries and doubts......An all around loving Father tells his children that God truly Loves you and will grant you all the grace you need to LOVE HIM !!!
- This book is well worth the time and effort of reading. It is a pleasure to read this book that can quikly and in perfect condition.
- Funny, humorous, and critical. Portrays the contrasting characters of holiness and unholiness, sinners and saints, and saneness and craziness of all the people in this world. Takes a look on how people try to achieve the heavenly ideals in a worldly community.

5 comments about The Power of Logic.
- I took an intro philosophy class at Texas A&M University and this was the book that I was required to buy. I thought this book was great. I really like that it had the problems online (if not all of them a majority of them). It was nice to be able to work out the problems from the book and then go online and type them in to see what you were doing right or what was wrong with you answer. It gave clear examples and was easy to understand.
- This is *such* a good book. When I reviewed the MS for the publisher, the copy I had included a chapter on modal logic which did not make it into the First Edition. I hope it makes it into later additions. Being a thoroughgoing probablist, I especially appreciated the chapter on probability theory. Given the widespread use of probability theory in contemporary analytic philosophy, there's almost no excuse for a philosophy program to use any other book for philosophy majors (except, of course, _Socratic Logic_).
- Let me start by saying I received an A in the class. I wasn't too dim to understand the material, so this isn't whining from a bruised ego. Logic sounds cool. It isn't! I don't know if it's possible to make logic logical or not, but this book is a collection of poorly explained utter nonsense. Logic seems to combine the worst aspects of algebra and philosophy into one poorly organized discipline. This book doesn't help. It introduces ill conceived and vague concepts in a manner that seems to revel in their obscurity. It's like reading a review of the unix programming language from the guy that created unix. There are probably 8 people on Earth that would dig it, the rest... not so much.
- I absolutely hated this book. It was the textbook for a "symbolic logic" class - although it was extremely subjective and not logical at all. The book is full of errors and is faulty in its reasoning in some of the problems. I hated this book as well as the class - I expected a logic class to be logical and not subjective. If you have knowledge about a topic, it is frustrating when the authors are narrow minded and think they have the answer when you know their reasoning is faulty and incorrect.
If you have a choice between a math class and a logic class (especially using this book) - choose the math class. I did get an very good grade in spite of the book - a 3.9 --- although the class average was 1.85 (on a 4.0 scale) and it was the lowest grade I received while working on the degree I just finished.
To the authors: It can be raining and the ground can be dry. It is called virga - where rain evaporates before it reaches the ground. Your saying the ground must be wet if it is raining and using that for a example sentence throughout the book is a major error.
- A while back, I had used this text for a course in Logic. The best thing about it was that the material was explained and illustrated so well that one can learn from this book without going to the classroom!
This doesn't mean that someone should just read and move on; the problems given in this text are still critical to understanding and applying Logic. There's even an answer key for some of the problems, so one can check their own work!
In addition, the skills that one can develop using this text are also transferrable - especially for those that are learning Programming.
All in all, I'd recommend this text for anybody who needs an understanding of Logic, whether it be for a class or a profession. If one has an interest in more advanced concepts of Logic (e.g. - Counterfactuals), however, this book is not for you.

5 comments about The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram: Nine Faces of the Soul.
- I am a big fan of this book and find that it compliments the work of Riso and Hudson, Helen Palmer and others. The book has a lot of depth! The insights that Sandra Maitri illuminates regarding each ennea-type are expressed beautifully although not always in the most sensitive manner.
A can see where a lot of people would have resistance to this book because it unmasks the shadow side of the personality. However, this is precisely what the Enneagram is concerned with. Basically, it's about the different ways one can be an ego in the world and when you look deeply, this isn't very pretty to look at. I admire her for not sugar-coating what each type is about. The first time I read about my type, I laughed and at other times felt like crying.
Maitri does not take as scientific an approach as Riso and Hudson. However, this does not mean there is not a lot of value here. Shakespeare did not take a scientific approach to love, but he certainly had a lot of insight into it and there is much to be learned about life by reading his plays. Similarly, one can learn a lot about the various ennea-types, ennea-type dynamics and how all of this might be related to spirituality.
A lot of the knowledge contained in this book comes out of the work of Ichazo, Naranjo and A. H. Almaas. I have read Almaas' book on the Enneagram and I actually think that Maitri does a better job of presenting the types than he did. While I think she is appropriately introspective and interpretive, I don't find she is so speculative as to lose credibility with a less esoteric audience.
In short, this book combines psychology and spirituality in a plausible integration that has stood the test of time with respect to an empirically developed model. I think this is part of the value that Maitri offers. Riso and Hudson looked at the Enneagram more clinically and developmentally. They scratched the surface of the spiritual dimension, but Maitri expands on it. This isn't a treatise on Physics, it's a soulful look at the Enneagram.
Personally, I find this book to be very useful. While it is difficult to admit, I think she nailed my type and I have found what she wrote about the dynamics of other types to be true. In fact, I have taken Enneagram assessment classes and talked about her ideas with different types and they seem to agree. While a lot of people are triggered by what they read in her book, at the same time they seem to recognize the validity of it. She says a lot of the same things Helen Palmer, Riso and Hudson and others have said, but she takes it further and deeper in some ways. This makes her book a unique and valuable contribution, especially for people who have already read the other author's books.
Even if you are not someone who believes in the validity of the Enneagram, this is a thought provoking read. It will cause you to deeply inquire into your own personality dynamics and those of the people around you.
If you are looking for a good general book to get started in exploring the Enneagram, then I recommend the Wisdom of the Enneagram by Riso and Hudson. This is a very well-balanced introduction to Enneagram theory and how you can use it for your own personal growth. These authors take a more mainstream approach and have done much work to validate the Enneagram model clinically. At the same time, they honor the spiritual dimension of it without diving into the spiritual specifics in great depth.
If I were only going to own two Enneagram books, the Wisdom of the Enneagram and the Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram would be my two "must haves." The former book leans in the direction of psychology and the latter goes deeper into spirit where Riso and Hudson stop. On the other hand, Riso and Hudson have other books that go deeper into the various psychological levels of the Enneagram model and map them back to DSM type classifications of psychological disorders. Again... the books are complimentary, they offer depth, but Riso and Hudson do it more from within a psychological framework. Maitri trys to go beyond this by exploring the spiritual dynamics that give rise to the psychological propensities of the various types.
- The descriptions of nine personality types are in depth, insightful and logical. It no doubt makes valuable contribution to the Enneagram literature. It is a useful book for more serious readers.
- If you are a serious student of the Enneagram, this book is a "must read." With a clear insight into workings of the human mind and heart, Donna Maitri communicates not only an in-depth description of the personality types of the Enneagram, but also leads the serious student to some very valuable tools to work through and out of the habit of the personality.
It is a book you will want to read, and re-read many times. I stongly encourage the reader to follow her advice and resist the temptation to read only the chapters on your own type. The material is presented in a very thoughtful order and reading the book from cover to cover increases is value tenfold.
More than any other book on the Enneagram, this book has opened in me, a place of compassionate understanding for others habits of personality as well as my own.
- There are a lot on Enneagram books on the market, but this one is the only one I've felt really attuned to. I saw my"self" quite clearly in its descriptions, but without needing to further justify, defend, hate or identify with the ego structures I observed. That's saying rather a lot.
This is not just a parlor book of personality types. Rather, it goes into some real depths...even beyond the ego structures that have usurped people's sense of self. It's not an airy-fairy book (no holds barred when it comes to pointing the powerfully obstructive nature of our identities), but it also presents real hope for returning to the soul level of self...and eventually to true nature. As Patanjali might have said, where there appears to be distortion, there is that which was never distorted--that which is just waiting to be rediscovered in its purity.
- It brought home the deeply spiritual aspect of the enneogram. Another piece of the puzzle.

- If you're a fan of Wayne Dyer and Marianne Williamson or you haven't ever heard of them, you'll love the combination of their inspirational advice, wit and insight into life. I have a vast library of cds that I listen to in the car and this is one of the top!
- Both are well versed in spirituality. This audio program ties together some of their latest teaching principles. Highly recommended for those who are looking for positive reinforcement as aid in overcoming life's obstacles and we all have them.
- I am a loyal fan of both Dr. Dyer & Marianne Williamson. This Cd is one of their wonderful collaberations. It's a true "Good Feeling" audio set. These two peeople have set me on a purposeful path for my life. I have both of their collections of Cds & books. I would recommend this an any other Cds by those two authors.
- I enjoyed the lecture Wayne Dyer gave, but was extremelly disappointed with Marianne Williamson lecture.
- Live lecture, sound not so great, his recorded laboured breathing was very very off putting, love Wayne Dyer, but this is not a good one.
I listen to staying on the path, almost every day.
Will only ever listen to this once. The asking people in the audience to break there anonymity in alcohlics anonymous,to prove a point he was making and "pleading" with people to do the Tao, was all a bit, hard to say but disappointing and not very enriching or advancing
Marinne,,,, "well lets all just take a deep breath and imagine a ball of golden light",,,, please God rescue me from the bad feelings that i paid moneY to listen to something that started like that,,,,,

1 comments about Choosing Brilliant Health: 9 Choices That Redefine What It Takes to Create Lifelong Vitality and Well-Being.
- Rick and Greg have done it again. It seems so simple when you read it..... but the fact is that we tend to ignore the obvious. What is brilliant is that anyone can embrace the recommendations in this book and live a life that feels wonderful. And who wouldn't want a wonderful life!? The stories are inspiring and I especially loved the sections on giving and appreciation and life after 100 years. The most important message is that we all have behavioral choices and with a little dose of intention.... the results can be just what you might be looking for! Good reading......

5 comments about The Next Fifty Years: A Guide for Women at Mid-Life And Beyond.
- I bought three books (this is one of them) to give as gifts from amazon. I was apprehensive they would not be on time for a golden wedding anniversary and 50th birthday of a close relative.
Firstly, the books where in mint condition with superb contents and apropos for the occasion (good guidance from brief descriptions by amazon) and best of all delivery was precise. Provided tracking was accurate with a couple of days to spare.
Amazon is still excellent in all aspect as I keep dealing with it! KUDOS!!!!
- I thought I had ordered the book but it seems the CD was ordered instead. Fortunately the author was kind enough to refund my money but I was very disappointed. After researching what had been the communication problem, the person who was circulating the CD as part of her lecture series was advertising the CD under the book title then stating she was replacing the book with the CD. I personally feel that is an inappropriate way to advertise her product and it should be done separately. I may reorder the book at a later date obviously through a different Amazon distributor.
- Thought-provoking, comprehensive, and chock full of pertinent information, Pamela Blair's book is an invaluable guide for the woman crossing over to midlife.
The reader can explore every aspect of what lies ahead for her as an older woman in 150 short essays that range from cultural attitudes and myths about aging women to such practical matters as health, finances, and relationships.
The author poses questions at the end of each essay to which the reader can respond to by journaling right in the book, making it a highly personal experience.
As an added bonus, a study guide is provided at the end of the book for women who wish to meet in discussion groups using The Next Fifty Years.
This book is the perfect companion for the woman who wants to better understand and enter in celebratory fashion midlife and beyond.
- Chloe Jon Paul
- I liked this workbook. It is comprehensive and divided into four sections: Thoughts, Cultural Attitudes and Myths about Women Aging; Who we are, Who and What We Live With; and Looking Forward. In her introduction, Blair suggests that we skip sections which do not apply to us. All of her short essays are followed by space in which to respond to questions such as "how does this feel?" or, more specifically, asking for a response to the issue addressed.
There were sections which did not pique my curiosity and I did read through those quickly. However, on a whole, the issues addressed are those which we, as women in the second half of life, should be thinking about. Her style gives us an opportunity for reflection, but does not ask us to spend hours thinking and writing. One could work through a section or even a few pages, put it down, pick it up and still follow the flow of the concepts.
Blair's book is intended to be used as a personal journal but could be used in a discussion/writing group following the study guide in the back or any other format deemed fitting for a group of women. It is well written researched and easy to follow.
The titles of her essays are enough to entice one to read. For example: Myths to Not Live By, Changing Tempo, Aging Can Be Fun? Ages and Stages and An Attitude of Gratitude. There is a long bibliography and a study guide. Her writing is pleasing and her flashes of humor and mini-stories about herself keep The Next Fifty Years from being a dry workbook. Blair feels that "we have an assignment to make clear our role in society: to inscribe the possibilities of age on the guideposts to the future."

5 comments about Pedid Que Ya Se Os Ha Dado: (Ask and It Is Given).
- I would not recommend this book in Spanish. I loved the original version, I have almost studied it by heart! But the copy in Spanish I bought for a friend, is so bad... that it can hardly be understood.
Made up words... wrong verb tenses... and lots of grammar mistakes , make the book confusing and in ocasions even ridiculous. I dont understand how Hay House has this marvelous books translated so badly, sometimes it even seems as if it is one of those softwares doing the job. This works should be supervised by a team of expert translators in both languages and experts in the specific matter itself.
- Excelente servicio en cuanto a calidad y rapidez de despacho.El contenido del libro en si es muy inspirador. Los 22 procesos y la filosofia acerca de lo que subyace a la peticion son conceptos muy reveladores.
- I think the book is very good. Perhaps some parts are difficult to believe, like the entity of Abraham.
Suena increible? Lealo y despues me cuenta.
