5 comments about The Practicing Mind: Bringing Discipline and Focus Into Your Life.
  1. Accomplished musician Thomas M. Sterner presents The Practicing Mind: Bringing Discipline and Focus Into Your Life, a guide to the concept of present moment awareness - something embraced as a vital part of a fulfilled life in Eastern cultures, yet relatively unknown in Western cultures. Chapters address how to foster desirable habits in oneself, improve skills through training and focus, teach and learn from children, and much more. "In summary, it comes down to a few simple rules. Keep yourself process-oriented. Stay in the present. Make the process the goal and use the overall goal as a rudder to steer your efforts. Be deliberate, have an intention about what you want to accomplish, and be aware of that intention. Doing these things will eliminate the judgments and emotions that come from a product-oriented or results-oriented mind." Highly recommended.

  2. Although I have bought and read literally hundreds of self help books in all categories through Amazon, the Practicing Mind by Thomas M. Sterner is by far the 1st book that has compelled me to write my very first Amazon review.

Their are many things that make this book stand out. It is very short, with absolutely, no-fluff or fillings, with the result that every word and every phrase really counts. Sterner's tone is also very down to earth and easy to understand without the use of any pretentious words. The book also has a few very good illustrations and stories to clarify the concepts presented in the book.

But what I think makes the book really practical is Sterner's realization and revelation that the key to success in any area of life is to acquire self-discipline through non-judgmental concentrated practice. Now, I know that this doesn't sound at all like a very profound or new revelation. But if you have been searching through hundreds of self help books - like I have been for the last few years - for the one key ( or system) that would enable me to become successful in improving my spirituality, my role as husband and father, time-management, health and exercise, writing, entrepreneurship and my other personal areas of interest that are of value to me - than the Practicing Mind will be of great value to you.

The Practicing Mind - is not a panacea to cure it all - but for me it turned out to be an amazingly simple and effective system to help me to systematically and measurably improve all the areas of interest in my life.

I highly recommend the Practicing Mind to anyone that has been searching for the key - no matter if you are just starting out or you already own hundreds or even thousands of self-help books - to order this book and put it into practice

I also highly recommend you to get to also get the audio version - as over the years I have realized that the best way to internalize the paradigms like the one presented in this book - is to listen to them over and over again preferably on a daily basis. The audio CD is read by Mr. Sterner himself and the author has a very calm and pleasant voice that helps transmits his ideas perfectly in the audio book version of this book.

Get The Practicing Mind. It might be the last personal self-help book that you ever order.....

  3. Fantastic application of Zen meditation to everyday life. I am so much calmer after reading it.

  4. Start with the best intention and commitment to accomplish a worthwhile goal only to see both wane in a short period of time. What causes this to occur and how to overcome it are the messages in Mr. Sterner's book.
In my opinion he is spot on in his assessment and advice. Accomplish much more with a marked improvement in peace of mind. If these results interest you, buy his book or his CD. Highly recommended.

  5. How would you like to learn to let go of anxiety? To get twice as much done with half the stress? To find a way to handle intimidating, unpleasant, or even boring tasks without having them take a bite out of you?
What if I told you that this would involve your investing a little over $10 and reading a 98-page book?
    I thought you'd be interested.
Here's the deal. Sterner, a musician, a piano technician, a golfer, and an all-around sage (who would probably be a really interesting person to get to know) mined what he he had learned about repetitive tasks, like practicing music and golf swings (and, I guess, piano tuning and adjusting) and put it into a little book. No frills, no fancy language, no huffing and puffing about how profound he is, his message is, or anything else. And, at least from my experience and that of the other contented reviewers here, he got it right.
Um, sorry, that really should have been Got It Right. What he presents here is not novel - it's been around in recorded human wisdom for thousands of years - but it is simple, direct, and easy to apply. His basic principles are: attach to process (which you can control) not to outcomes (which you can't); accept yourself as embodying perfectly whatever stage of development you happen to be at - don't postpone happiness until you reach/have/attain something - break big projects down into tiny tasks; open yourself to learning from those around you and to joy, which is everywhere. He lays them out in simple, functional prose that anyone can read and understand.
This little book is a giant weapon in The War Against Suffering. Read it. Do what it tells you to do. Read it again. Do more of what it tells you to do. Praise it so that others will read it. Give it to your friends.
I've bought books here based on the reviews of others and it was clear to me when I saw the sorry things that passed for books that someone had self-published and then gotten friends to game the process. I don't know Sterner (my loss) and have no interest in doing anything except sharing my pleasure in having discovered this book.

4 comments about The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution.
  1. This book tells anyone suffering from plantar fasciitis all they need to know about it. Here's what the book covers:

-learn all about the plantar fascia (i.e. what exactly it is and what it does)

-the typical course of plantar fasciitis (you'll feel better knowing how long it usually lasts and how it responds to various treatments)

-the 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution (a home program that's 94% successful at decreasing pain in people with resistant plantar fasciitis)

-what you can do to prevent it from coming back

-a great review of other treatment options that have been proven in controlled trials to eliminate plantar fasciitis (save yourself some time and money by finding out what has been shown to actually work)

I also liked the fact that the book was not too long and cites numerous research articles to back up what it says. So, if you suffer from plantar fasciitis and are looking for info and options- this is your book.

  2. If you have this condition, you'll spend any amount of money to get rid of it. This excellent book describes what does and does not work, based on good evidence from randomized clinical trials. The punch line is that the only really effective treatment is regular stretching (3x/day for 8 weeks)of the plantar fascia. This is simple and feels good.

Though it costs a lot for a short paperback, the book is definitely worth buying for its simple, straightforward explanation of the condition and its causes, and its evaluation of the many other (much more expensive) aids out there to help people. Night splints are another proven useful aid; Amazon sells a pretty good, quite inexpensive one, the Futuro Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support. (Shoe inserts, it turns out, work no better than placebo.)

  3. Here's a fantastic book that really gets to the point about plantar fasciitis. It contains a wealth of information that I'd expect to spend a lot more money than its price to get. There's a detailed but non-intimidating or boring description of the condition, how to treat it effectively and how to prevent its return. The material is based on scientific evidence and the book even includes a chapter-by-chapter comprehensive list of supporting references. I found such detailed authentication very impressive.

The author targets the facts and presents them in a way that is easy to understand. Illustrations, organized charts, boxed paragraphs and chapter summaries appear throughout this book. They helped me to visualize, comprehend, and remember the essentials for the self-help process.

I particularly liked the question and answer format used to lay out the facts. It set a friendly, congenial tone to my reading experience which helped me with the learning process. This style and the easy-to-understand explanations gave me a comfort level with terminology that otherwise might have been intimidating or boring. And I felt like I stayed on track as I read because the author seemed to anticipate what my next question or concern would be. Invariably they appeared along with answers and solutions within the next page or so. The book has a very well-organized, logical flow of thought and information from one chapter section to the next and on to the following chapter. In my opinion, besides containing comprehensive information about plantar fasciitis, there is no question that the book's author has the instructional skills to effectively present it to people in a crystal-clear style that allows them to understand it and feel better as a result.

I highly recommend this book to anyone experiencing or concerned about plantar fasciitis. It is truly a bargain for the high quality book and comprehensive information you get for its cost.

  4. I have spent a lot of money on my foot with this problem. After reading this book and doing the recommended treatment. I am healing. I have had Plantar Fascitis for over two years. This is the only thing that has worked for me.

1 comments about Plant Seed, Pull Weed: Nurturing the Garden of Your Life.
  1. Geri Larkin's life has taken her from the heights of American business to the simplicity of Buddhist practice. She began her career as a jet-setting business consultant -- and is ending it as a sort of free-lance teacher and landscape consultant living in a tiny home in the Pacific Northwest.

In fact, in this new book she writes that when she volunteers at an emergency food bank -- it's impossible to tell her and the other folks running the program from the clients in need of the emergency food.

It's a wonderful journey, which Geri has laid out for readers in a series of books that are half spiritual memoir and half Zen advice about everything from personal relations to -- in this new book -- cooking up the dandelions you've pulled from your front yard.

Around the time her previous book, "The Chocolate Cake Sutra," was published, I invited a group of high school students to spend time interviewing Geri for a documentary film on prayer and meditation. Geri was heading back to southeast Michigan for a few days from her new home in the Pacific Northwest, and I told the students that the cost of a seat with Geri was reading her book.

If you know anything about the busy lives of teenagers, the idea of reading a book on Buddhism sounds like an impossible challenge. But, on the day of the interview, an eager little crowd of students pulled couches up around Geri's own easy chair. They pulled out these beautifully well-thumbed copies of her book -- their pages sprouting bookmarks, sticky notes and slips of paper with questions scribbled to ask Geri.

That's the best way I can convey the excitement of her spiritual voice. It can hook and hold a busy teenager -- or a busy middle-aged writer like myself.

These are books not to be missed, because they leave you with a hopeful smile on your face -- and a fistful of good ideas to make sure that smile is shared with someone else.

They're great for small groups -- easy reading, but deep provocative wisdom in each chapter.

5 comments about Healing for Damaged Emotions (Personal Growth Bookshelf).
  1. This book has been a tremendous help to me and I have given several copies to friends. easy to read and identify with.

  2. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. It pointed out to me that I've been looking at myself through different mirrors, and I haven't been seeing myself the way God sees me. Instead of placing more guilt on ourselves, David Seamand identifies the lies and misperceptions that we've been taught over the years and encourages us to break free from the bondage of those misperceptions. This is a book that every Christian should read.

  3. I have read this book twice and given it to many friends and the responses are always the same. We need to understand the priciples is this book and apply them in our lives. None of us are exempt at some time or other in our lives from the issues discussed.

  4. As a pastor and spiritual director, I've been using this book as a regular give-away to believers when it becomes obvious that they are stuck - some old wound is yet hindering them from normal spiritual growth in Christ. Having ministered among Native People for several years, as well as those dealing with addictions (even as Christians), I found the truths and principles Dr. Seamands expounds on very beneficial in truly helping people heal from their past emotional wounds, and the memories of them, and then be able to progress in spiritual development. I believe our churches have many folks sitting in the pews, Sunday after Sunday, with serious pain from their past adversely affecting their present ability to relate freely to Christ, or to others in relationships. Until we understand this, and how Christ can work through us as "ministers" by his healing grace to nullify the effects of debilitating memories, we will continue to see believers spiritually 'stuck', stagnated in their growth.
Dr. Seamand's book HEALING OF MEMORIES (now titled, REDEEMING THE PAST: RECOVERING FROM MEMORIES THAT CAUSE OUR PAIN), builds on HEALING DAMAGED EMOTIONS by going, in detail, into the process of ministering healing to those with painful, debilitating memories. Every pastor who counsels should understand how to help believers in this way!

  5. Great book to help you understand why you are the way you are.
    Really helped me a lot.

  1. This book is quite enlightening. I can forsee reading many more of Chodron's books.

  2. Once in a great while a book like this comes along. It's so honest and plain and challenging at the same time. The short chapters and conciseness furthermore make it all the more accessible.

  3. It's a best of some of her writings, and it's really good. It's a nice concise set of one and two page sections from her other books. Something that I found myself reading a second time.

  4. Pema is accessible... Her writings are very helpful and exemplify the very compassion she teaches for herself and for ourselves and others...Her writing is grounded while pointing to the "ineffable". She makes Buddhism and meditation more ... well, meaningful for those in the trenches...all of us...very healing...simply good advice that she makes even clearer!!!Thank you Pema Chodron for your life and sharing so much of it. Another great book!!!

  5. A couple years back my dad got demoted and was potentially going to lose his job. He was facing a lot of uncertainty and was not sure how to deal with it. I first read The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times in a high school philosophy class when I was dealing with a lot of my own personal problems and found it incredibly helpful and selected this book as an introduction to Chodron. Since reading this book my dad has started reading several other books about buddhist spirituality and has pursued meditation, all of which have helped him immensely both then and now. This book serves as a great tool for maintaining spiritual health and a comprehensive introduction to Buddhist spirituality and Pema Chodron.

5 comments about The Prayer of Jabez: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life.
  1. most powerful, and lifechanging books. God listens.
i can't keep this book on my shelf. i must have given
away over 20 copies.and will probably continue to share
    more than that.

  2. I think my favorite part was where he told a group of seminarians to ask God for the island of Trinidad.

This prosperity gospel nonsense is the most destructive popular theology to come out in the past hundred years, and this time it's drawn from an obscure genealogical table in a faux-historical book in the Ketuvim. The implication of this book, of course, is that the prayers for mercy rising up from good Christians in impoverished Africa are just, well, not sincere enough.

  3. one of the best books i have ever read..was able to read it in one sitting could not put it down..the prayers are so helpful

  4. If you have ever been exposed to a negative image of God, then you must read this book. This book will change your perception and you'll find a kind, loving God who wants everything good to come to you. The practice of asking God for what you want is encouraged in a prayer that will change your life. The belief that God wants everything positive for your life transcends off the pages into your heart. Bruce examines the belief that giving to others will make your life abundant and fulfilled. Have faith, ask God and believe. After reading this book, you know God has answers and miracles just for you.

  5. I could not find ANYTHING in this little misleading book that was in line with either the specific words,
OR the spirit of the entire New Testament. Most of the emphasized portions of this book directly
contradict the Bible. Much of the teaching contained in this book is false, misleading, and attempts to refute
    the very words of Jesus.

Jesus taught us to be satisfied not only with our daily bread, but even with asking
for our daily bread, on a daily basis. I think it is truly a shame that Christians in the richest country in the
world would be so distracted by a simplistic ploy to seek riches rather than the kingdom of God!
This is especially true while so many Christians are starving around the world. How will Christians explain
their Jabezic pursuit of riches by endlessly and repeatedly praying for more and more while Christians are
at this moment being herded into huts and being burned alive?
Are we to believe that all the starving people in the world are starving because of their own personal sin?

The claim that "the only that can break the cycle of abundant living is sin" is absolutely false and directly
contradicts the entire book of Job.

The claim that "the only thing that can break the cycle of abundant living is sin" is absolutely false and directly contradicts the entire book of Job (not to mention several books in the N.T.).

Job was not just more righteous than his brothers like Jabez, Job was the most blameless, righteous and upright man on the entire planet, yet his "abundant living" was severely "broken"! This is an example of end-time preaching where selfish people gather to themselves someone willing to tell them what their itching ears want to hear.

CLEARLY the "Prayer of Jabez" book and the Bible are at opposite ends of the spectrum regarding this teaching!

Tape this divisive little book closed (to protect innocent eyes), and use it for a coaster, or to balance your
dining room table. To do otherwise will lead you astray!

Jesus describes the reality of being hungry, thirsty, naked, and a stranger but He told us to feed, clothe, and welcome others. He made no mention of sin, or praying to "expand our borders", or to pray for a "larger cup"!
If your cup runneth over, do NOT pray for a larger cup, share what is in your cup with others!

    Matthew 25:32-46
All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
?Then the King will say to those on his right, ?Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.? " Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me."
They also will answer, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?? ?He will reply, ?I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.? ?Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

5 comments about Open Mind Open Heart: The Contemplative Dimension of the Gospel.
  1. This book has opened up a whole new path to prayer for me. It is what I was looking for. Centering Prayer,Contemplative Prayer, is explained well inThomas Keating's book.

  2. In this writing, Father Thomas Keating very carefully and completely offers a newly-edited version of what is considered a primary source for learning Centering Prayer. As the early proponent of this type of prayer that can lead greater joy in entering the presence of God, Keating has once again explained in great detail how the practice of engaging in Centering Prayer can be of benefit. His work is the definitive source of terminology and understanding for the contemplative who wants to engage seriously in this deep form of prayer.

  3. This is a marvelous introduction to centering prayer. It answers basic questions and pulls the reader into God's love in a very methodical and reassuring way--reminding the reader that all one needs to do is to say "Yes" to God's grace. Takes a lot of pressure off "making it happen" which is so ingrained in Western society. "Be still and know that I am God" is a central theme. Open Mind Open Heart: The Contemplative Dimension of the Gospel

  4. This is one of the best primers about moving into
Stillness I have read. It will be valuable to the beginner as well as for folks who have practiced meditation for many years.

  5. I was introduced to centering prayer by a visit to a centering prayer support group at an Episcopal church. One of the participants there told me the fundamentals of this method of prayer, a distillation of the contemplative prayer tradition, which dates from third or fourth century Egyptian monasticism, and then we had a twenty minute session. Afterwards someone in the office photocopied for me a seven page appendix from this book. In the appendix was a reference to the title of the book which I ordered and learned was part of a trilogy by Abbot Keating. It has turned out to be one the most helpful books I have read about this method of prayer.

This book is recommended for those who are looking to banish clutter from their lives. Through contemplative prayer one learns to quieten the soul and manifest God.

5 comments about Care of the Soul : A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness in Everyday Life.
  1. Being a student of classical literature, I have very rarely found nonfiction that can speak in the same language to which I am accustomed. This book is deeply profound and challenging--perhaps the most evocative approach to psychology I have ever encountered.

It is especially helpful to those who enjoy literature. It is artistic and aesthetic, yet still very, very helpful for practical use and everyday living. I have found myself challenged deeply towards personal and spiritual fulfillment, and have been recommending the book to everyone that I know.

My husband and I read it together and are continuing to sift through its richness. No other book has been able to so completely shift my spiritual and psychological paradigm effectively. This is a must read.

  2. a very insightful book on tending to your own garden, that is your soul. This book is beautifully written and thought provoking. With wonderful lessons in nurturing your daily life and finding the sacredness in day to day living that will deepen your own soul experience.

  3. This book was atrocious. My friends shrink recommended it to him for a read to help him, and I was wondering why he was walking around even more confused in life so I decided to buy it and see why. I now understand. I would like to consider myself very intelligent, but this book is not an easy read, at all. I found myself rereading pages just to try and understand it. The average person would get lost in all the fancy jargon. I found myself skimming the pages toward the end hoping someone would put me out of my misery. Would not recommend.

  4. The new paradigm Moore presents for psychology is extrordinary! He permits people self respect and an avenue for growth within depression or other mental disorders. Should be a must read for every one.

  5. I found the book to provide sound, every day recommendations for the care of my soul which has been neglected for many years. The book was recommended by a therapist and it is well worth the time to read it.

  1. Lama Tsultrim Allione has masterfully adapted the ancient Tibetan practice of chod and it's powerful gift of transformation so simply and directly that it will serve those who might be drawn to the book's evocative title, while also providing support and a fresh approach to long time spiritual practitioners. Simple, concise and carefully honed through Tsultrim's own many years of practice, this book and the practice which it transmits is a liberating gift for all those whose lives are devoted to freedom. Blessings and Gratitude...

  2. Reviewed by Debra Gaynor for ReviewYourBook.com, 5/08
In her book, Feeding Your Demons, with much authority and personal experience, Tsultrim Allione, shares ancient wisdom from the Buddhists. Allione defines demons not as a Gargoyle type spirit but as an obstacle or hindrance that holds us back from living a full life. Depression, anxiety, illnesses are a few of the obstacles she calls demons. She adapts Buddhist methods into a simple 5-step process.
    1. Find the demon.
    2. Personify the demon and ask what it needs.
    3. Imagine yourself as the demon.
    4. Feed the demon and meet the ally.
    5. Rest in awareness.
I understand the principles behind the 5-step concept even if I do not agree with it. My liberation comes from above. However, Allione takes a mysterious subject and simplifies it. All in all, Feeding Your Demons is an unique concept. Its basis is ancient, but practiced by many New Agers.

  3. I'm 51 and found it very useful. I also bought it for a 24 yr old friend of mine and she thought it was wonderful too! I highly recommend it.

  4. Reviewed by Vicky Burkholder
    on 07/08/2008

Tsultrim Allione was one of the first Western women to be ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun. In this book, she presents an eleventh-century woman's wisdom to non-Buddhists in simple, easy to understand language that anyone can follow.

According to Tsultrim, we can all overcome whatever demons are causing chaos in our lives, whether they be weight, illness, anger, or whatever. By following her five steps, we can supposedly overcome these problems.

In the first part of the book, we are given an overview of Tultrim's life - her journeys into spiritualism, her marriages and divorces, her children, her tragedies and her triumphs. It is an interesting biography, if somewhat brief. But this book isn't supposed to be a biography - and it's not completely. The next section delineates the five-step program to overcoming whatever ails you. It is clearly written and easily understood.

The third part of the book deals with specific types of demons. Each demon - illness, fear, addiction, abuse, etc. - comes with case studies allowing you to read about people who faced these problems and overcame them. Each one is different, and interesting to read. The last section of the book gives you information on how to deepen your work.

In the grand publishing segment that encompasses self-help books, this is one of the more interesting ones I've read. It is brief, to the point, easy to understand, easy to follow and deals with problems that plague almost all of us. Does it work? I'll have to get back to you on that. But I can't see where there's any harm in trying. If nothing else, you've spent some time meditating and that's always a good thing. If you're into spiritualism, Buddhism, or any of the mediating practices, definitely pick this one up. If you're just into reading about obscure spiritual readers, this would be a good buy.

    4.5 Books

  5. Since she first glimpsed Buddhist lives and practice over 40 years ago at age 19, Lama Tsultrim has devoted herself not only to her own practice but also to finding ways to bring this joy, compassion and devotion to others. In this jewel of a book she offers those experiences to benefit people who may never resonate with Buddhism or Tibet, but who do notice our lifes' continuing struggles, the world's distresses, and our deep longing for ways to nurture less conflict and more hope. The book offers a way for anyone to turn toward that distress and longing, elegantly and skillfully placing this remarkable meditation practice in a modern, Western framework. So whatever your own spiritual inclinations are, whatever form your personal 'demons' may take, however you're thinking about war and peace and disharmony in the world, you'll find an ally here - in the practice, in the stories, and in the remarkable woman who brought us this book.

  1. there has been so much discussion in recent years on what Jesus really said and did, and even whether He really existed.
Paramahansa Yoganandas commentary sampler "The Yoga Of Jesus," from Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers LA USA really clarifies a lot in these matters.
This volume serves as a handy and welcomed introduction to the Masters larger and acclaimed work "the Second Coming of Christ;Resurrection the Christ Within You" from the same publisher in 2004.

This work will most likely answer in the most direct and inspiring way all the questions you had about Jesus life and teachings. It is truly inspiring and eye opening.

For those who need deprogramming [those still attached to the status quo] this volume will be a very effective starting point to renewed understanding of one of the worlds great prophets/gurus.

It will renew and advance your faith in the real Christ!

  2. The Yoga of Jesus from P. Yoganada is a must read book, specially for all the Christians of our time. It's a transforming reading, in which the teachings of Jesus are explained, from the message of the Gospels. I understood more the teachings of Jesus after 30 years of being Christian. I recommend this book to everyone.

  3. As an avid reader of Gnostic teachings, I found The Yoga of Jesus to be a breath of fresh air in understanding some of the deeper meanings found in the gospels that have been all but forgotten in modern interpretations. This is book is for all those looking for information to take them beyond believing to knowing, which is the literal meaning of the word "gnosis."

  4. Great book written by a great man. It has renewed my perspective on Christ (original perspective was that of a Catholic who received First Communion in a French church in Rabbat Morocco, and later attended Catechism in Southern Spain as child). The author, Yogananda, really taps into the beauty and truths that I always suspected were the things that all religions had in common.

  5. While I would agree that this book is of very high value, it seems to me that a lot of great topics were glossed over and didn't reach the depth of insight that I have come to know and love from Paramahansa Yogananda. My opinion is a bit biased, as I own and am currently reading his most elegant tome: "The Second Coming of Christ," which is quite detailed and has an abundance of depth to it. "The Yoga of Jesus" is of course a watered down version of "Second Coming" and is certainly well worth the time if you want a quick study, that is; "How Sri Yogananda Interprets Jesus - 101" kind of thing. It will definitely get you thinking, with quite a few "ah-ha!" moments. I strongly recommend you read "The Yoga of Jesus" before "Second Coming." A 4 star recommendation today!
