4 comments about The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur: The Woman Whose Goodness Changed Her Husband from Atheist to Priest.
- 'My Spirit Rejoices'& 'Light in the Darkness'
or 'The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur' - Sophia Institute PressIt is not often that one finds a book of such vital import that it changes one's life. But the journal kept by Elisabeth Leseur is surely one of the most compelling books I have read in many years. It ranks with the great works of the Carmelite Saints: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Therese of Lisieux. For many years now I have kept Elisabeth as my companion during Lent; a great Spiritual Director in an age of darkness. She holds the light of Eternal Truth and points out the way with calm assurance. Elisabeth experienced an extreme degree of spiritual isolation owing to the timbre of her times in Paris high society. Her husband was aggressively atheist, as were many of his friends and associates. She kept the love of God deep in her heart, and it was to the Heart of Jesus to whom she turned for daily solace. At Elisabeth's death her husband, Felix, found her secret journal; and as he read the pages of the journal, his heart turning to remorse, the last vestige of his hatred for the Catholic Church was swept away in the tide of his beloved wife's counsel. Reconciling to the Church, Felix Leseur entered a seminary and became a Catholic priest. Elisabeth's cause for Canonization is now open at the Vatican.
- The joy and hope that many evidently find in atheism is a puzzle to believers. For such, the In Memoriam written by Elisabeth Leseur's husband is worth the price of this book. He was a militant atheist for most of their 25-year marriage, while she grew in her faith and from love for him kept her prayers for him secret. Both were highly educated; Felix had lost his faith in studying medicine, was later a journalist and an insurance executive. They were childless, due probably to Elisabeth's many health problems. However, she was able to travel and to entertain until stricken with cancer and dying at the age of 53. The Elisabeth Leseurs of the world are usually unsung. But this diary, rescued by her sister from the burnpile, converted her husband Felix not only to Christianity but to the priesthood. It is a true love story.
- There are many excellent books written about Catholic Christian spirituality by saints who were priests, monks or religious sisters. "The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur" is unique because it is the spiritual diary writings of a married woman. There are many married women today seeking holiness in their lives as wives and mothers. This is a book for them! They will find profound and useful spiritual direction in the words of Elisabeth Leseur, whose love for God gave her a steadfast, faithful and fruitful love for her husband. I can't recommend this book highly enough to women who are seeking holiness in their vocation of marriage.
- I am halway throught brousing the main sections of the book. It is easy to dip in and out of the various sections, because the heart of the matter is simple but profound - staying close to the heart of Jesus- forgivness, repentence, salvation. Easy to read because it is down to earth yet mystical because as with all truth that is about the ultimate reality - GOD, it expands outward to infinity, beyond simple logic. Just as Jesus can both be our judge and our savior, thus forgivness and justice, redemption and conversion exist together in a unity. An amazing story of how an ordinary woman becomes extraordinary while following the message of Jesus of how to live our lives by seeking truth, in her case studying as much as she can in order to be READY when it comes time to witness truth to those who need the intelectual approach, by following the way - in terms of ministering to those in need, and by living the LIFE, forgiving her atheist husband and seeking every opportunity to BE a Christian to him. very very inspiring.
I especially like the organization of the book, which follows the author's own approach. So the subject is approached as a journal, as a series of tasks to do, and other goal oriented processes.
recommend very highly. appeals to the both the mystic and the modern mind, in my humble opinion.

2 comments about Everyday Osho: 365 Daily Meditations for the Here and Now.
- I love this book. Everypage gives you a chance to meditate on life's various aspects. These aspects are the ones that we have always believed in and it is just because we failed to realize our inner potential that we have lost it. Osho brings forward an opportunity to reflect on these by way of everyday insights. There is no need for any faith or belief system to be in place for these insights to be reaffirmed by your own inner voice. Even if you dont feel comfortable with it right now, time and your inner quest should give you ample opportunities to realize these insights in one way or the other. Osho presents the same theme of accepting life as it is and that too from moment to moment without any past conditioning and any future expectations.
- this is what day 253 says: "Science can never win against art, and logic can never win against love. History can never win against myth, and reality is poor compared to dreams"

5 comments about Science of Being in Twenty Seven Lessons.
- The Science of Being Teachings are the most valuable and sought after Lessons in the World. I have been a student and have studied for well over twenty years. I am now a part of the Science of Being World Center, with an authentic teacher and a direct decendent of The Barron Eugene Fersen.
I think it is wonderful that you have found the teachings of Science of Being, however the orginal twenty seven lessons are still available. The lessons are from the wonderful book, The Fundamental Principles of Science of Being. Written by Eugene Fersen. This book and much more information can be found at the Science of Being World Center in Washington, USA If you are a true seeker of Science of Being then please find the true Authenticity online with Laura Taylor-Jensen AHL.
- The Science Of Being World Center would like to thank Mr. Adrian P. Cooper for recognizing the Great value of these most profound teachings and The World Teacher who brought them to Humanity and for sharing in our mission to bring this Wisdom out to the world in this time. We, the Acting Head Lightbearers, would like to wish Mr. Cooper continued success assisting humanity in its quest for the education of self enlightenment and Liberation.
We would also like to publically express great gratitude for his most humble acknowledgement in his written Dedication for and of the Science Of Being Lightbearers World Center in this publication - it speaks volumes of professional "Divine Moral Integrity" in this day and age where it is sadly lacking.
Mr. Cooper and the others, who expressed a thought here, have shown a heartfelt display of "Divine Moral Integrity" and we are glad to see that it is on the up rise. With and where there is "Divine Moral Integrity," there is hope for Humankind. Mr. Cooper, you did an Excellent and Beautiful job with the book, we appreciate and applaud your superb effort.
"May The Flame Of Love Always Light Your Way"
The Acting Head Lightbearers - The Science Of Being, Lightbearers World Center
- I was intrigued on first hearing of this great work and really wanted to read it. I have not been disappointed in the least as I agree with Adrian Cooper's assessment that this is likely the greatest book and course ever written on the law of attraction along with its predecessor and companion, The Science of Being in Seven Lessons. I have never before found a book besides the Holy Bible that goes so wonderfully and beautifully into the body, mind, and spirit and puts it all together over the course of this wonderful book so magnificently.
This book *does* acknowledge the originator of all this great information, the first and chief Lightbearer himself, the Baron Eugene Fersen. If you look at the other testimonials on this site, you'll see that the Lightbearers themselves have acknowledged Adrian Cooper's great work and gift to mankind by helping to bring this essential information even more into the open by publishing this magnificent edition. I would encourage all who are ready to allow yourself to be open and ready to receive these teachings, take them to heart, and get ready for your life to be Eternally changed for the better by them.
- Many thanks go out to Adrian Cooper for bringing the works of Baron Eugene Fersen to greater public awareness. I remember discovering the Science of Being body of work back in 2004. How astonished I was to find that I couldn't find much information about this great man or his organization, the Lightbearers. So I started a small crusade to increase awareness because when I put Fersen's teachings in to practice, I found my life changed for the better. The Science of Being body of work needed to be discovered by all!
The Science of Being in Twenty Seven Lessons is my favorite work by Baron Eugene Fersen because it is practical in application. Adrian Cooper has treated the work with the respect it deserves( and credits the source very clearly).
If anyone is waffling on whether to buy this book, go with your gut. You won't regret it. This work is profound and the best book on the Law of Attraction you will ever read.
Blessings to all who read this review and the Science of Being.

- The Concept of this book is old but it is beautifully explained in lucid language.

3 comments about Wisdom Walk: Nine Practices for Creating Peace and Balance from the World's Spiritual Traditions.
- Dr. Sage Bennet's book has caught my heart and mind. She focuses on what is essential in each major religious tradition: in Christianity it's 'Forgive yourself and others', in Judaism it's 'Make time for the Sabbath', in Native American Spirituality it's, 'Let nature be your teacher', etc. The last chapter talks about what is common to all spiritual traditions, which is, 'Offer yourself in service to others'. HOW BEAUTIFUL!
I find this book so inspiring and uplifting and also very practical. The author talks about her own struggles with relationships and addiction and religion and how these practices helped her personally. It's all very real and down to earth.
This book is for anyone on the path who wants to get to know more about any of the major wisdom traditions or more about applying practical spirituality in his or her daily life.
- I opened the book in the middle and was instantly immersed in one of the stories exemplifying Taoism's "go with the flow" of the river of life philosophy. I instantly recognized some of my own struggles as I've tried to control and even to force matters in my life only to later realize that things would have been much better if I'd let events take their own course. The story cited in the book opened a new part of my understanding and communicated very simply with my heart so I could see this lesson in a different way and learn it from a new perspective. Sage Bennet's storytelling narrative is perfectly tuned for this type of learning and I have been similarly engaged and drawn in by the other lessons and examples in the book. As a person with a strong religious life, I was very very comfortable with the ways that Ms. Bennet uses the religions of the world to teach the nine truths she defines in the book as supports and not divisors of other faiths or beliefs. I found the traditions and philosophies she describes to edify my personal beliefs rather than splintering from them and could benefit from the harmony of that experience. Reading the book made me feel more a part of the human family and strengthened and uplifted me in my own wisdom walk.
- This is a wonderful book providing clear information on a major positive attribute of 8 of the world's major religions, from Hinduism and Buddhism through Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, to Taoism, Native American Spirituality, and New Thought. With many Americans moving from religiousity to spirituality, this book is an excellent resource that would allow people to blend the positve beliefs of several religious traditions into their own belief system in a positive way. And the writing style of the book reflects its content - warm, respectful, useful and uplifting.

2 comments about Enduring Lives: Portraits of Women and Faith in Action.
- What an intriguing title! Is this book about immortality? The cover of Enduring Lives intimates a book about Catholicism. But it would be a mistake to catalog this book under Religion. Enduring Lives belongs more with Women's Studies, an evolving discipline in which Carol Lee Flinders breaks new ground.
Speaking generally, men are not keen readers of Women's Studies. However, if they can overcome this disinclination, in this book they will uncover a new perspective on women's sexuality and social organization. For, who best to understand the role sex hormones play on a woman's psyche than those who are denied a sexual partner, either involuntarily or by intent? The question may be: How are biological impulses transmuted into a socially acceptable existence? Scientists often look at aberrations to discover the boundaries of what we assume is the norm. In Enduring Lives we look at some of these boundaries.
There is much to be learned from this well written, edited, and designed book. On the surface, Enduring Lives is a set of distilled biographies of four women who, at first glance, have nothing in common; not in the times they lived, the location, not their religious upbringing, nor in their contribution to our society. Only a scholar with the knowledge of Carol Lee Flinders could weave the biographies of a concentration camp victim, a Ph.D. from Cambridge who studied the Chimpanzee, a recluse from Tibet who started life in war-torn London, and a woman whose work was featured in the movie Dead Man Walking, into an exciting, cohesive account of the amazing evolution of human spirit. The author is informed by her own scholarship, a well argued (non-defamatory) critique of Catholicism, and most of all by a deep understanding of how spirit allows us to survive in a troubled world that seems increasingly to deny opportunity for our very existence
- Compelling narratives of four women who listened deeply to an inner calling. Flinders details how aspects of their lives, both supportive and challenging, influenced the unfolding of lived wisdom. If stories are medicine, these are soul food.

- Dr. Bernie Siegel MD writes with humorous, down-to-earth wisdom that has improved the lives of countless readers. Now he treats us to his most user-friendly work of all: daily doses of inspiration and humor that gently and joyfully help us live more peaceful, loving, and fulfillinglives. - Wayne Dyer, author and speaker
- ". . . Worry? Guilt? Money? Each page ("Prescription) of this book has a theme. 'Cooperation' (Prescription #101). for example, talks about what humankind could achieve if we worked together. 'Sunset' (Prescription #187) suggests that all worries and troubles should be released at the end of the day. Each reading begins with a quote pertinent to the title theme, followed by a discussion of the topic. The page ends with a positive "Soulution of the Day."
365 PRESCRIPTIONS FOR THE SOUL can be read day-by-day, or opened at random for an immediate dose of comfort and encouragement. As Dr. Siegel has prescribed: "Read two pages -- and call me in the morning." ----Science of Mind Magazine
- The presentation is easy to read and understand. It covers
advice aimed at living life to the fullest. Read this work to help cheer you up or add a spiritual dimension at just the right time. Samples of Dr. Siegel's witicisms are: o Laughter is the most beautiful exertion. o Men have become the tools of their tools. o Hard work never killed anybody; but, why take a chance. Some of the jokes contained herein would be perfect for parties and social gatherings of every sort. The book is a good value for the information content alone. This work could be used for daily readings.
- What a wonderful soul inspiring book. It perpetuates the tenacity and perserverance that is part of the woman in all of us. The book, Purposefully Made by I. Fountaine Allen is also a must read.

1 comments about Wise Choices: A Spiritual Guide to Making Life's Decisions.
- This is a wonderful book, packed with a lot of very focused, good advice and guidance---and without a lot of unnecessary stories (something I, personally, get bogged down in reading other growth & wisdom books). The only complaint I have---which is something my partner appreciated---was the formatting of the text in the book: All of the text is centered on the page. My partner appreciated that, because it allowed her to break up each of the sentences on the page into a thought---like reading a poem. However, I am very visually sensitive, and the formatting added an additional challenge to my reading experience. But don't let that stop you from reading this excellent work!

5 comments about Chicken Soup for the Soul of America: Stories to Heal the Heart of Our Nation (Chicken Soup for the Soul).
- Read this when you need a good cry or a smile.
- Read this when you need a good cry or a smile.
- I was a little surprised to see so many mixed reviews about this book, but then again it is fairly easy to see why. I have received many letters of response from readers since the book was published, the subject of most being thus: "As much as I had convinced myself that I had come to grips with the events of 9-11, as much as I had led myself to believe that I had cried my last tear of grief... I had no way of comprehending the whole picture until I read this book..." What makes this particular book different from others in the series: You don't have to be a pet-lover, a teacher or a child to feel a bond with the people in the stories, you just need to be an American ... or simply human for that matter. I don't recommend buying this book for yourself, I recommend buying it for yourself, your children, your grandchildren and every future generation that will hopefully never need to feel the sense of pain, love, selflessness, companionship and grief that yourself and the people in this book lived through. That's why I bought it. I want to save and share the American spirit. -Ann Marguerite Swank, Author, "How the Children Help" from "Chicken Soup For The Soul Of America: Stories to Heal the Heart of Our Nation."
- When I got this book, I didn't know what I would get into. These stories are powerful, healing, patriotic stories that you will only find in this book. You will find each story has it's own kind of sparkle, and it's very special in it's own way. You will feel for these stories and to the people in them. Plus, you will feel so proud to be an American. It's a great book to get, you may even heal yourself. Get this book, whether you are young or old, there is a story for everyone in this book.
- A lot of American heroes such as fire fighters aren't really recognized by anyone because no one really takes the time to notice them. This book makes you really realize how much some people really do for our country. This book helps you realize that. Fire fighters and other people in general help out us. They should feel proud and good about themselves because they are in this awesomely known book. This book talks about the incident that happened on the September 11th 2001 and how so many people lost their loved ones. Millions of people answered the call, rallying together with an outpouring of courage. It talks about how people came together to help with the horrible incident that happened.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone no matter what age because it's about our country working together when something tragic happened to our country.
