  1. This is a wonderfull little gem f a book filled with witty wisdom and thoughts to ponder for days. I love the font style chosen as it looks like handwriting and I love the authors insight even more. Buy this little book and open your mind to a realm of possibility.

  2. "That Which You Are Seeking Is Causing You to Seek" is a book about finding, realizing & using the compassion we already have within. It's about realizing the mental & physical violence we create for ourselves & other's, and choosing to stop it. It's about listening to our self-talk, and choosing to realize when this "mental chatter" is not truly benefiting us - when it's wrong - when it's judgmental - when it's hurtful; and then to realize our personal power to change what we think/hear/say, and how we behave/act.

This is a wonderful book that includes many great insights - Although I must admit that I don't necessarily agree with all of the Zen-Buddhist thoughts included here, but then again, how do we learn about ourselves & other's if we read only those works that we are in full agreement with?...

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in spirituality &/or compassion - I think it has a lot to offer.

  3. Reader be forewarned - the typeset for this book is made to look like hand writing, so it's a little different. I actually liked the typeset and illustrations - it lent the book a very informal, friendly feel.

I really enjoyed the book. I've been a lazy buddhist for some time, and this book motivated me to start sitting again. I shared the passage on attachment with my wife, as it explained the buddhist ideas on attachment far better than I had been able to, and she finally "got it". Highly recommended.

  4. Cheri Huber resonates with many who are ready to explore something more than the "I, me, mine" and "more, more, more" culture in which we live. I have given this book as a gift to at least ten people. The book does not endorse a specific religious doctrine, but explores common sense ways to view the world, and ourselves, through compassionate eyes. Highly recommended.

  5. I love the title of this book. It implies that what we are seeking lies deeply within is, was always there and really leads us forward whether we realize it or not. In short, this book is about getting quiet and listening to this inner wisdom and letting it guide you home. It is simply written, easy to understand and makes good psychological sense.

5 comments about Essential Survival Guide to Living on Your Own.
  1. This is a wonderful tool for young adults moving out on their own. It is full of practical advice such as setting goals, what do do when you are sick, taking care of your car, eating well, how to pay your bills on time, and housework. While this may seem dull to some, the author writes in an engaging style that keeps your interest. I had my oldest son look it over (he's 24 and soon to be married) and he said he wished he'd read this before he moved out...he had to learn these things the hard way!

This will make a great graduation gift.

  2. Regardless of your age, there is always something new to learn -- like "Techno Lingo" or "essential emoticon list"; and it's always great to get another opinion of the essentials for the pantry, refrigerator, etc. The overall theme seems to be a mix of "getting organized" and learning how to cope with the many responsibilities of life -- and to take on those responsibilities by knowing the "essentials of survival" in today's world.
This book is a very good resource for responsible families to teach their children (and themselves) various topics which will help them be responsible citizens.

  3. This is a great book; everything a kid ought to know about living on their own. I found it interesting reading for me as well; so many things to say "wow, I didn't realize that!" Not only did I find an informative, helpful gift, I also found a book for myself that I can refer to time and again. This is a definate keeper!

  4. This book covers a lot of bases, probably more than a young adult preparing to move out will need initially, but will eventually have to deal with. For example, information on maintaining a car will be useful for a teenager, but advice on buying your first house won't be needed for years. That said, parents would be wise to read this book too, using it as talking points for discussions with their young adult children before they even leave the house. Then hand the book over to them as they go, for they surely will refer to it often.

This book is, however, not for everyone. Its mixture of the spiritual and practical lends itself to some, but not to all. And the sheer size of the book - almost 400 pages - will put off some kids, and that's not the author's fault.

The Essential Survival Guide is a well-written, comprehensive guide that covers all the bases, essential and otherwise for the focused young adult leaving home for a life of their own. Believe me, the author has thought of just about everything! 50 Ways to Leave Your Mother

  5. Can we say helpful? Necessary? A must-read for any graduate?

Sharon has taken the overwhelming life-lessons and created a great reference book for young adults (and not so young adults).

What a great tool for parents and youth leaders!

I wish my husband and I had had this wonderful book when we married eons ago! Our daughter will receive a copy as one of her wedding gifts.

  1. Heart of the Soul is a gem of wisdom that brings clarity to your thoughts, old negative beliefs, and illuminates your mind with soul wisdom to help you rise above the negativity of the past in order to live from the heart center.
I found that each page carries wisdom that is relevant, illuminating, and will definitely awaken your mind to help you get un-stuck in any area where your heart might be blocked. Recommended from my heart,
Barbara Rose, author of "Stop Being the String Along: A Relationship Guide to Being THE ONE" and 'If God Was Like Man'
    Editor of inspire! magazine

  2. using the philosophy from the "seat of the soul", he gives daily bits of most profound and direct wisdom. a treasure chest. an insightful and helpful companion for one on an upward spiritual path. part of my daily meditation, and a favorite gift to give.

  3. This book is an excellent source of meditative thoughts for those who have already read Gary Zukav's books, "The Seat of the Soul," "The Mind of the Soul," and "The Heart of the Soul." Carry it along with you to create moments of contemplation when you are held up waiting---for example in a doctor's office or some other appointment.

  1. This book changed the way I looked at life. I will recommend this book to anyone who are looking for answers. Keep an open mind and keep on reading even if the idea seems very strange.

  2. really, this is amazing. A little deep and maybe hard to grasp if you (or your ego) are not ready for the message but it is life changing. Really

  3. I have so enjoyed these CDs. The material is fascinating to me. Easy to understand - but it takes practice to be able to do. I will listen to these over and over!

  4. A very inspirational book, in fact, read it twice and bought 5 copies to give away....

  5. This book written by Eckhart Tolle is a beautiful and astounding read. That's it. There's nothing else more to say about it.

5 comments about The Secrets of Life: (Revised and Updated!).
  1. This book is a compilation of short observations based on the core of Wilde's philosophy. The thoughts and ideas are drawn from his books, articles, unpublished writings, newspaper interviews and excerpts from TV/radio shows.

Wilde believes that life was mean to be enjoyed and his writings are dedicated to the rapid and complete liberation of the individual from negative thoughts and emotions and the daily grind. The main themes revolve around how to remain balanced and detached, how to increase one's perception, act powerfully, concentrate on what is real and believe in oneself.

In the short entries of mostly one page each that are not arranged alphabetically, Wilde holds forth on subjects like dedication, perseverance, opportunity, dimensions, concentration, relationships, time, energy, opposites, sacrifice, confidence, serenity, service, creativity, and, with a refreshing libertarian approach, on stuff like government and politics.

His humorous and engaging style inspires optimism. In isolation, however, not all of these thoughts always make sense: some appear as truisms and some may be wide open to interpretation without a context. But even when one disagrees with him, his ideas often raise a smile. The Secrets Of Life is enhanced by beautiful black and white illustrations by Stephen Smith. It is a handy inspirational guide to his thoughts that I recommend to those who are already fans of Wilde.

His popular books like Affirmations, The Force and The Quickening provide a wider understanding and proper context of the insights that he manages to convey with so much wit and elegance and would be more suitable for those readers wishing to investigate his work for the first time.

  2. This book is highly recommended. If your life is complicated, you are out of balance, you haven't developed a perception, you are attached, you concentrate on what isn't really important, you don't act powerful, you don't believe in yourself, then you need to get this book.

Stuart Wilde will assist you in developing a perception, uncomplicating your life, get in balance, become detached, act powerful, concentrate on what's really important and learn to believe in yourself.

  3. I love Stuart Wilde and, perhaps, I expected more from this book...Or at least an ORGANIZED book.

Each bit of wisdom is...well, wise. However, I don't like snippets of information. That's my personal preference so it should reflect on the value of Stuart's work.

By snippets, I mean having a page heading such as "On Abundance" and going into a short paragraph (sometimes just one sentence) on the topic. Then, onto the next page with a different "snippet" not having anything to do with the prior one.

Maybe the book would have been better if it were organized in sections such as "Abundance," "Health," "World Affairs," etc.

Anyway, I don't regret getting the book and found it to be a wise purchase. I just wish it was more in-depth with each "snippet" and better organized by topic rather than randomly thrown together.

  4. I love Stuart's work. He takes a light approach and yet he gets down to real serious stuff. Very helpful and fun as anything! He doesn't pull any punches. He's funny, yet deep, real, and if you read any of his books and do some thinking about what he writes, then apply some of this real-life, spiritual, amazing wisdom to your own amazing life, you'll be better for it.

  5. I find Stuart Wilde to be a matter-of-fact writer and he explains his thoughts and theories in plain language.
It's the first book I have read of his and I think it's great! Simple messages on each page that just make you go "oh yea!"
I'll definitely look into getting other books of his.

5 comments about Blessings of the Cosmos: Benedictions from the Aramaic Words of Jesus.
  1. Reading this book, and working with it, is like breathing in deeply out in my garden at twilight, when the flowers and leaves and soil are giving off the perfume they've been growing all day in the sun. Breathing in peace, breathing out conflict, quandries, decisions, worries, burdens.

I first studied with Saadi Neil Douglas-Klotz over a decade ago, and was astonished to find that there were actually other people besides me who worked deeply with the words we use so cavalierly most of the time. "Blessings of the Cosmos" follows in the tradition of "Prayers of the Cosmos" and "Desert Wisdom" (both also by Dr. Douglas-Klotz) in being a gentle, peaceful offering of the author's work with these words and phrases, which becomes soil in which my own spirituality may be planted, and grow, and flower. Neil Douglas-Klotz makes offerings, not fiats or pronouncements; he offers another way to look at words and phrases which, for many of us, have rather rigid interpretations that have been given to us, and repeated so often, that they are so familiar they might be the wall-paper in the hallway. As we read, and as we allow these offerings to wander around inside us, we may pick up the offering "as is" and use it, or we may find that this offering has stimulated the growth of something new, and completely personal to us, opening a door through which we may step into a more expansive relationship with all facets of the cosmos.

Consider this way of looking at Matthew 11:28 which, in the KJV reads, "Come unto me, ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.":

    "Come to me,
all of you, all of yourselves,
    in your frenzied weariness,
    your movement without end,
    your action without purpose,
    not caring in your fatigue
    whether you live or die.

"Come enmeshed by what you carry,
the cargo taken on by your soul,
the burdens you thought you desired,
    which have constantly swollen
    and are now exhausting you.

"Come like lovers to your first tryst.
I will give you peace and
    renewal after constant stress:
    Your pendulum can pause
    between here and there,
    between being and not-being."

Enriched by the discussion of the word-roots which follows, and the suggested meditations (available also on the included CD), this wording reaches me in places that I didn't know, or didn't remember, existed. It allows me to see things in my life, and labels for those things provided to me by other sources, in a different light, and leaves me openings to find new meanings that can feed my soul in this moment. And, I know from his previous books, that coming back to the work at another time will have the same result of yet more new openings available for the new moment.

As you may have guessed, I heartily recommend "Blessings of the Cosmos"! For that matter, I also heartily recommend Dr. Douglas-Klotz's other books as well. I look forward to "Blessings of the Cosmos" coming out in paperback, so it will fit in my suitcase better, but it will travel with me anyway, as does "Prayers of the Cosmos." Even in just the two read-throughs I have done since "Blessings of the Cosmos" arrived last week, I have found something new and valuable each time, and I know from my experience with his other books, that taking the time to work with the meditations will open yet other avenues of exploration. Dr. Douglas-Klotz's books, including "Blessings of the Cosmos," are on my "special shelf" and not out with the rest of my library, and I work with them as enrichers of wisdom/Sophia. I also give them as most welcome gifts (One recipient even reads & meditates with "Desert Wisdom" at dawn outside her home in the desert!), and am buying more copies of "Blessings of the Cosmos" for that very purpose.

May you also find blessings through "Blessings of the Cosmos"!

  2. I very much enjoyed this book. Language is a reflection of how a group of people think and interact and this book brings out additional nuances to Jesus' teachings that led me to a deeper understanding -- always a good thing, to my way of thinking! If you like digging deeper into the meaning of things, you'll like this book, too.

  3. Outstanding scholarship packaged in a stimulating and readable format. The added body-prayer work is repeatedly useful.

  4. This book reads like poetry. The meaning behind the words that Jesus spoke and are quoted in the Bible come to life when you hear them from his native tongue. With wonderful textual notes so that you get the full meaning of each word, these verses come to life with a whole new meaning.

When I read this book I knew that this was the Jesus I knew in my heart. It just made so much more sense and touched my heart so deeply it was like the love song I have been waiting to hear.
This book is a must for anyone wishing to hear the Truth of what Jesus was saying to us.
    An absolutely masterpiece!!

  5. I always return to this book to be inspired, amazed, and when I need to remind myself of my own humility, insignificance, and connection to the cosmos. Neil's poetic verse captures something substantial and solid. These waters are pristine, so drink deep. This wisdom may transport you somewhere else, it may transform the way you view the world. Klotz is one of the few men on the planet who I admire - not only for his creative insight - but for his far reaching authenticity. His words are visionary and meaningful interpretations of the Aramaic prayers of Jesus. You cannot go wrong with this book, my friends. It is a spiritual guide in times of darkness. Moreover, it awakens the imagination (a portal if you will) and throws you out of dogmatic sleep and binding chains into another place where surprise captures what is essentially human and unique in each of us.

1 comments about The Wellness Tree: The Dynamic Six Step Program for Creating Optimal Wellness.
  1. Couched in a "New Age" approach to good health, The Wellness Tree: The Dynamic Six-Step Program For Creating Optimal Wellness by Justine O'Brien begins with the imagery of the "Tree of Life", and then moves on to devote whole chapters to the role of mental attitude, breath, nutrition, physical movement, rest, and solitude in achieving and maintaining optimal health. O'Brien then moves on to the utilization of visualization techniques and offers his readers a sixty- one point exercise designed to help them "recreate" themselves. The last two chapters deal with "The Future of Wellness" and "Relationship with Life". Enhanced with an informative afterword by Frederick Franck, extensive Notes, a Bibliography for further study, and a comprehensive index, The Wellness Tree is an impressive, thoroughly "user friendly" instructional which is ideal for the non-specialist general reader wanting to improve their physical, emotional, and even spiritual well-being.

5 comments about Invisible Acts of Power: Personal Choices That Create Miracles.
  1. This is the most rambling piece of nonsense I have ever listened to (listened to the book on tape).

The author seems extremely arrogant -- she makes a ton of assertions with absolutely no fact base (e.g., every prayer is answered, you absolutely can tell if there is a person in need nearby, even if you cannot see them). She seems to think she is a god or something - I found her tone to be very patronizing.

This whole book is based an e-mail solicitation that the author put out to receive examples of invisible acts of power. Then she builds this whole idea up as if she has some sort of blinding, inspirational insight -- it really is a bunch of useless ramble.

It seems that she just wanted the glory of writing another book so she tried to get some "filler" material.

After listening to the first CD, I could not take it any more, there was no structure to her thinking and nothing of practical use or inspiration.

I would not recommend this to anybody - as boring as it is, it is not even good for a sleeping aid, as the author's tone is so annoying.

  2. I love this book. Just reading it has helped me relax more around people. I am more aware that I don't know how much a kind word or a smile can help someone around me. I got the book from the library, but I will buy a copy to dip into every so often. Also - Love how she explains the chakras - much much easier to understand and see where you are at, what your concerns are and which chakra they relate to. She demystifies chakras.

  3. Take one part energy centers and mix in a little Chicken Soup for the Soul and you've got Invisible Acts of Power. Carolyne Myss has taken a number of stories from people who have been of service to others or have had their lives changed due to others' service to them and organized them into section that correspond to the seven chakras.

If your belief system does not allow for the existence of energy centers within the body or mystical forces, then you're probably better off staying away from this book. However, if you are more open-minded, this is a good choice for just about everybody. Carolyne Myss takes a little time to introduce each chakra and what type of energy and service will resonate with it, then follows up with some stories involving that particular level of energy, and then usually finishes up with some poignant questions regarding said level of energy.

The most important concepts throughout the book are those of sharing, being of service, and that there is absolutely enough energy in the universe for everybody to be of service to others. We can be supportive and not have to worry that there isn't enough good fortune to go around.

The author also pulls all the information with a style that is easy to follow and makes a point without being dogmatic or preachy. I would definitely recommend this to just about anyone. Truly, just about everybody could use some portion or all of this book, but unfortunately, some will not be open to the information contained within.

  4. I can usually rely upon Carolin Myss to produce a book worthy of not only a good read, but tools for everyday, spiritual living. I love her stories of others' and she also writer personal stories, as well. She is humble yet very wise in her approach to her subject; there is no ego to this woman. I usually come away from her book as from a great feast. I feel satisfied and
happy. I also got my money's worth. Liz Roy-Broerse

  5. I have both the CD and the book of this powerful program. Though the book is good, the CD program is amazing and this review relates more to the CD program than the book.

I give this review four stars for the book... however, the CD program of the same title really is 5+ stars and is an absolute must.

Firstly, the CD program is Caroline Myss presenting the topic of the book in a workshop format. This allows a more intimate understanding of how service is an invisible.... and, in fact, sacred act of power.

More than that, the CD program gives you a deeper sense of how service is an act of power... and how service may be rendered in many differnt ways; some to ground the receiever, others to support and still others which show love and empower people... the greatest of which, in my mind, transfroms the reciever... and the giver.

There are many levels of service, each one a powerful act in their own right, however, higher acts of service are transfomational in nature. This program shows you the way to embody these invisible acts of power to heal youself and others.

It truly is a wonderful program.

5 comments about Marry Your Muse: Making a Lasting Commitment to Your Creativity A Complete Course in Creative Expression.
  1. Jan Phillips took me on a journey I had never been. I had sensed this part of my inner being, but stayed out, afraid of the power I may find. Then my eyes got wider and wider as I turned each page and suddenly, without being conscious of my change, I trusted her honest voice and slowly let go of fears that had restrained me from being and creating more. I became deeper and truer, because Jan was deep and true. And my writing and art expanded.

Marry Your Muse is well-organized, rich and meaty, and void of fluff. Every chapter contains its distinct wisdom, realness, and a high calling to "Marry Your Muse."

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to go further in themselves and their art.

  2. This book inspires the reader to move beyond limitations. Jan Phillips makes us see that every person has creativity... has the ability to create something of value... straight from our Creator... God. Wonderful!

  3. This book was a joy to read, a total sensory experience!!! From the cover, which is breathtaking, to the very last word...I enjoyed every moment of it and look forward to reading it again. Great job, Jan Phillips!

  4. A very concise book written with humor and sensitivity. Includes professional references and author Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen is a rather prolific writer herself. Well worth purchasing ~ this is one of those books I will keep in my personal library and definitely share with close friends.

  5. Jan Phillips says what you and I need to hear. Touching our inner creative selves allows us to learn to become authentic, which can heal ourselves and others. I cannot say enough about the power of these words. Similar to the Artist Way book series, this one seems to take us one step further. Good quotes in the margins and some suggested helpful activities to practice. I bought the book for a university course I'm taking, but am so very thankful that I ran across it at all.
