5 comments about The Essential Enneagram: The Definitive Personality Test and Self-Discovery Guide.
- I stumbled upon this "enchanted and mythological" book at my local bookstore after delving deep into the heart of enneagram studies. Enneagram studies consist of nine types that all coincide within us, but one of the personalities is dominant over all others. Ms. Mccoy on this review page reiterates an interesting point; one she could have tried to more accurately discuss: We can label ourselves by looking at the "typing" of this obvious and blatant info, and the labeling process we do to ourselves can impede our process in life. If for example someone discovers that he or she is an artist, (an artist being one that has trouble feeling and is most likely slow at doing things as it is portrayed in the book)this person might use that label as an excuse to why he or she can't get a job or uses this as a reason to act out. However, just like justice, hatred, caring, or FREEDOM, everyone has a different response to the world in which they live, and I don't feel that this book reveals too much beyond what a person does not already know about him or herself. If ANYTHING - this book is to be used as an indicator, a direction, and most of all, an understanding of everyone else and their secret desires/impulses. Media is a double-edged sword, it can help you or hurt you. Ms. Mccoy's response to this book is one of a person who doesn't want to be labeled, and I can respect that, however; the enneagram gives way to the fact that there are labels in this society - ones we normally use everyday AND not with such discriminatory purposes. Such as she/he. Black/white. Good/Bad. Labeling is built into our heads, its the way we see the world. So it all comes down to asking yourself if its ok to discern differences within people or not. If not, I'd avoid this book----(...)
- I am an executive coach and I work with the Enneagram extensively with my clients. This book has by far the most accurate and reliable self-typing system available, and it's also very fast.
After the typing, Daniels goes deep quickly, summarizing the world views and distortions of each type very succinctly. This can be a bit abrupt for those who are new to the Enneagram or self-work. So I tend to encourage new clients to work with other materials until they have a fuller understanding of the model and emotional readiness for the "bright light" of Daniel's inspection of the types.
This book is one of the top 3 staples in my Enneagram library.
- Once you pop, you can't stop. This book is wonderful, and written by some very intuitive folks. However, this book does have one downside:
It is only a start!
Please be aware that this book does little more than give you a brief synopsis of the enneagram types and a simple way to self-diagnose your type, as well as a few exercises to work with once you know your type. There is so much more to the enneagram, and if you are truly interested you should go to a workshop or buy a more thorough book.
I use this book like a cliff's notes for the enneagram because it is small and simple. However, it is by no means complete. So use it to supplement your library or get an overview, but by all means don't stop here.
Hands down, this is a 5 out of 5 stars. Buy this book today and then impress your friends on the train while you reveal their most deeply held beliefs in a non-chalant sweep of lyrical genius.
- The Essential Enneagram is a great book to start the journey to understanding oneself and others. A quick read, it will make you think differently and open you up to a new journey of self discovery. Once you have completed the book, you will look at yourself and others differently and have a new conversation with people. Highly recommended!
- Many books have been written about the Enneagram, but this one, from old pro David Daniels (Emeritus Professor at Stanford) and his colleague Virginia Price, stands out. It's meant to help you, the novice, understand how this personality typing system works and, even better, take you through a self-typing exercise so you can begin to understand yourself better. Following that, Daniels & Price provide lots of insightful information about Enneagram types, self mastery, and personal growth, for both novice and expert alike. This book should be in everyone's self-help library!

5 comments about The Art of Friendship: 70 Simple Rules for Making Meaningful Connections.
- This is a really dumb book, that only the idle rich could write.
Unless you are one of them, don't waste your money.
- The subject material and content of this audio CD (book) is good, but somewhat outdated reference material. I also didn't like the sound of Mr. Harowich's voice, which made it difficult to listen to. The other nararator's voice was pleasant though.
- By nature, I'm not very friendly. This book has helped me to understand some of the things that are expected of people and to let people see that part of me that wants to reach out. I wish I had a real pro like the Horchows in my life so I could see someone who is by nature friendly. It would help me to learn much more. The lessons the Horchows teach are a good base.
- Half through the book, I stopped reading. I felt that this book was written by someone who wanted to share opinions on who to make lasting friendships. I believe a spiritual book on how to better oneself is enough to make light bulbs go off in one's head about how to proceed in life with or without friends. Overall, I didn't like the book. Nice cover though.
- I'm so glad that I came across THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP by Roger Horchow and Sally Horchow before
my upcoming move to Asheville, North Carolina.
Knowing virtually nobody there, I'm somewhat apprehensive about
how to go about meeting new folks . . . yet the authors seem
to have made it simple for me by presenting--to quote the subtitle--70
SIMPLE RULES FOR MAKING MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS.
For example, here's one idea that I had never thought about:
* Host a party for your good friends and ask each of your guests to bring
one person that you don't know.
I then got a kick out of this suggestion for dealing with the problem
of forgetting somebody's name:
* Say, "Nice to see you" rather than "Nice to meet you." No one wants
to think they were so completely forgettable that you've blanked out
the first meeting.
Lastly, there was this useful suggestion for avoiding banalities that
get you nowhere in a conversation:
* Unless you are a meteorologist or a farmer, there is usually nothing
vitally interesting in a discussion of the weather. . . . Your goal is
to learn about the person you are talking to, not make empty noise.
I strongly recommend THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP to anybody
interested in making or meeting new friends--even if you think
you already have more than enough . . . by chance, even if you fall into the
latter category, you'll be pleasantly surprised to pick up some new
techniques that will help you strengthen existing friendships.

5 comments about Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave : Finding Hope in the Power of the Gospel (Resources for Changing Lives).
- I love this book!!! The Spirit hit me right between the eyes. Must reading for everyone.
- Early in his book, Dr. Welch inaccurately quotes Scripture, rendering 2 Peter 1:3 to say that Scripture gives us all the tools/information/etc. that we need in order to live. Of course, 2 Peter 1:3 says this not about Scripture, but about God.
I approached this book as one schooled in and accepting of Reformed theology. Certainly Dr. Welch does not stray far from the Gospel. But he is dismissive of anything but a proof-text approach to reading Scripture that suggests that any problems a person may have are "worship deficiencies."
This may be true, in a strict sense. If we are really attuned to God's will, we certainly won't face addiction problems. But a more realistic subtitle for the book ought to have been "Here but for the grace of God go I."
Dr. Welch makes several astounding claims in order to advance his model of addiction theory. One of these is that there is no real evidence to suggest that physical withdrawal symptoms can literally overpower a person. Another is that gambling and sex do not prompt any internal physiological response. Any responsible neuroscientist would scoff at this -- our brains are full of chemical charges that dramatically affect our ability to think rationally, and our attitude toward God and other men.
Dr. Welch offers little in the way of practical help for the recovering addict; in fact, one of the reasons he is critical of AA is that AA has become palatable to non-believers. Heaven forbid it!
Dr. Welch advances a model-driven approach that fails to understand the enormity of God's revealed wisdom and how we ought to apply it when struggling with addiction issues or helping a loved one in need.
This book is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Read it critically. I understand I am the first negative reviewer, but my fear is that people get swept away by what they perceive to be a "gospel message" that is in fact little but a model for laying more guilt at the feet of an addict.
Finally, Dr. Welch gives short shrift to the work of the Holy Spirit in even the lives of addicts, and pretends that people suffering in the grip of addiction are far removed from grace. He also makes the decidedly un-Scriptural claim that, if we pray for God to remove any temptation/sin/etc. from our lives, then God will grant that request. But Paul's struggle with the thorn in his flesh stands in direct opposition to this claim.
Jesus Christ's love for addicts goes far beyond what Dr. Welch contemplates in this disappointing book.
- This book is what happens when you take the position that the bible has all of the answers to all of lifes questions, and then try to fit everything else into that belief. This book is perfect for Christians wanting to read something that they already believe. Welch is clearly intelligent within this specific framework, but for someone who isn't already a Christian, well versed in the jargon and dogma, this book would barely make sense.
Despite attempts at appearing compassionate and empathetic, the book still comes across as typically "holier-than-thou". It is more a book on "Addiction Theology" (that is, what does the bible say about addiction if we interpret with that in mind), but does not offer much real day to day help for a struggling addict.
Although this book calls it "sub-biblical", I think addicts would be better served joining a 12 step group and going from there.
- It is hard to believe that over a year later, I am still reading this book. The depth is incredible. I had originally purchased it with the thought of using it as a springboard to assisting people that God brings into my life with addiction problems. I have found that in one way or another, this book also speaks to me. I appreciate the clarity in which it is written and how each possible argument is countered with scriptures. You could blitz through this book and go on about your merry way ... however, I would suggest taking your time and allowing its truths to really sink in. I have recommended this book (and others by Welch) to many. It goes beyond answering the obvious questions on what we all consider "addictions" such as drugs, sex, and alcohol to the very heart of the matter - which is, of course, our own rebellious hearts and natures. I hope that this book blesses others as it has surely blessed me.
- I am a Nouthetic Counselor and have used the book and the video, "Addictions, A Banquet In The Grave," in counseling with individuals trapped in the bondage of the sin of drunkenness and have found it very insightful and helpful in breaking such bondage and setting people free from it.

5 comments about Bobbi Brown Beauty.
- I bought this book based on the recommendation of my sister-in-law, who has worked at several department-store makeup counters. She said that Brown's book had a lot of really great information, especially for a novice makeup wearer like me. However, I found the book to be lacking in specific techniques for applying makeup.
Some sections were fairly thorough, but most (especially the section on doing eye makeup) remained at a really general level. The only main piece of advice I got from the book is to wear yellow-based foundation, concealer, and powder. A lot of the other information Brown gives is just too general; using some diagrams and showing color variations would have made it much more practical.
Last year, I purchased Sonia Kashuk's _Real Beauty_, and I definitely recommend that book over this one. Kashuk's book shows detailed photos of her makeup techniques so you can really see how a professional makeup artist applies makeup.
I wanted to like Brown's book, but found it not as helpful as I hoped it would have been!
- I was very disappointed with the book. I have been wearing makeup since I was 15. I take it as my hobby and what I needed was a book that could show me different techniques, different ways of applying makeup other than the usual ways I was taught over the years, different color combinations. This book is REALLY BASIC. It really does not give you a step by step in how to achieve a certain look. So if this is what you are looking for go for another book.
- I consider makeup to be an important part of my everyday appearance. And this book really didn't deliver on anything more than everyday, easy to learn tricks that i gathered when i was 14 from Glamour. Not my fave makeup book, but there are a few good spots
- She advocates much too much makeup application. I don't think we all need foundation plus prep plus concealer plus this plus that plus.... Also she advocates natural beauty (accept your humped nose! etc...) but her models all have the typical symmetrical look. Which is fine and dandy but mildly hypocritical considering her natural beauty advocacy. I do like the section for teenage girls about self acceptance. Still overall her product line and approach just isn't my thing.
- Almost every topic related to beauty is mentioned. She does have small sections for ethnic beauty, diet/exercise, men's beauty/makeup & special occassion makeup. BB is all about neutral/natural looks so everything she suggests is timeless. Has several chapters devoted to working with your natural beauty & playing up your flaws instead of trying to camoflauge them. Book isn't as visually appealing as many others but makes up for it in the amount of information given. While instructions don't come with visual guides, they are still explained extremely well so that visual aids are really necessary. She has a lot more "don'ts" than I've seen in other books ("Don't wear shimmer blush", etc). In no way does she try to get you to spend a lot of money. She very much advocates a more minimal approach, even to the point of suggesting plastic baggies as makeup bags. She also does not self-promote & even features other makeup lines in her pictures.
I think this is a great reference manual. Excellent book for someone new to makeup or someone who needs to be brought out of a dated look but even the more experienced can pick up a trick or two. One thing I didn't like for me personally was the excessive focus on neutrals.

5 comments about The Good Girl's Guide to Bad Girl Sex: An Indispensable Resource for Pleasure and Seduction.
- This book goes far beyong 'bedroom skills' and deals with how to act like a sensual woman through your daily life. The author covers how what we wear affects how we feel, our walk, posture, the thoughts that go through our minds. It is very interesting. Being faithfully married for fourteen years, this has helped me to be even more attracted to my husband, and our sex life has gone off the charts, as I feel good about who I am. Barbara Keesling writes in a fun way, like she was sitting down having a conversation with you. Great sex truly is 99% mental. This book is sure to help you have the sex you've always wanted if you follow through with the suggestions she makes.
- I bought the book to help my post-baby frumpiness. After reading the book I think it would have been a fabulous read before I got married. It's a great introduction to seduction and very informative -- but if I tried to bring a feather duster into the bedroom my husband would explode into laughter.
- I started reading this book when my boyfriend mentioned that his cousin was reading it, and he believed that I defined "good girl", and needed to shift over to "bad girl" by reading this book. I thought our sex life was great, but my partner is older and more experienced than I am, so I took his words seriously and ordered the book.
I'm only 3/4 through the book and it has made a SERIOUS difference in my sex life. We're having more pleasure and more FUN than ever imaginable! I totally rock his world now, and I can't imagine being a good girl ever again!
Most of this book isn't about sex, really. It's about your image of yourself, and how you have been "taught", growing up, that thoughts about sex are bad and that wanting sex automatically makes you promiscuous. It teaches you to embrace sex as something healthy, fun, and needed! Keesling pulls you outside to look at the way you have been behaving, and explains why you're doing this and how to change it to make you feel more confident, and sexier! This goes for walking, talking, sitting, standing, dressing, everything. And it doesn't tell you to dress like a prostitute, either, so don't worry. All of this comfort in everyday life makes you more confident under the sheets. You learn to feel comfortable telling your guy what you want, asking him what he wants, delivering upon both yours and his needs, and having a TON of fun!!
I am so happy I have read this book, and I can't believe I had a sex life before this! This book is fun, informative, and very easy to read. The context is casual, so it feels like you're having a one-on-one chitchat with your favorite girlfriend, which is never boring. What've you got to lose by picking up this book? Seriously!! Good girl no more!! ;)
- this book is not very good. if you have ever had sex this book does not tell you anything new. basically it tells you a couple positions. guy on top. girl on top. it tells you not to wear a flannel pajamas and bunny slippers to bed if you want to turn your partner on. just basic things that are nothing more than common knowledge. sorry to say im very disappointed and would not reccomend this book.
- I'm hoping to wed a woman I love who's been trapped in a marriage with a guy light years below her intellect. She considers herself "straight-laced" and in the interests of better orgasms, I bought her a copy of The Good Girl's Guide which, of course, I read before sending it to her. This is not a prurient narrative intended to tittelate but rather a useful and at times amusing work aimed at enhancing the perhaps socially conservative woman's sexual experiences. It's not Hugh Hefner, Masters & Johnson, or that Indian Indian classic with all the positions. It's a pragmatic look at human sexuality with suggestions about how to improve one's sexual encounters. Recommended.

5 comments about Self-Coaching: The Powerful Program to Beat Anxiety and Depression, 2nd Edition, Completely Revised and Updated.
- I suffered from Generalized Anxiety Disorder ("the worry disease") with underlying depression which fuels the worry because i was convinced that I couldn't handle life if something bad happened. Everyone has an internal dialogue going on in their head all day long and the reason why people are anxious or depressed is they have thoughts about something scary or sad all day long. This book shows what fuels those thoughts (insecurity and eroded self-trust) and how to change your child-reflex (how you react to situations that make you anxious and depressed) and this isn't written by someone who just got out of college. Dr. Luciani has had years of experience and knows what he is talking about. And if you don't understand something he is more than happy to answer your questions personally in his "Ask Dr. Joe" forum on his website www.self-coaching.net
- I have social phobia and I've been on a hunt for the past few years for a natural treatment. I've tried herbs and supplements and nothing has worked. The last straw came when the supposed miracle supplement for anxiety-sufferers (magnesium) did nothing for me. Having read this book once before and not thinking anything of it, I decided I had no choice so I reread the book. I've learned that although the ideas in this book are great aids, they just won't work for someone in my position.
Self-coaching is simple. You've lived for years with negative thoughts that cause your anxiety. All you have to do is change them. First, you must seperate your thoughts into fact or fiction. Most often, you'll find that your anxious thoughts are silly. Then you must change your thoughts into something positive. This will change your mood completely. People with anxiety problems live in their mind rather than living in the moment. They process and think and process and think until their anxiety becomes hellish.
Self-coaching will and does work. Some may find it hard to believe but if you truly think about it, your anxiety is all in your mind. If you're having an anxious thought and you put on some music and sing along, you eventually lose that anxious thought because you're living in the moment. People with general anxiety will find the ideas in this book to be helpful.
Unfortunately, for someone like me who gets anxious "in the moment", self-coaching will not work. I get extremely anxious around other people. Whereas self-coaching may help when you're walking through a busy mall or anticipating a public speech, it doesn't work when, say, someone comes up to you and begins talking to you. Self-coaching does help when you're anticipating something anxious but it certainly doesn't work when something anxiety-worthy comes out of the blue.
I will use self-coaching in addition to medication. I do think this book is well written, motivating, and easy to understand but, unfortunately, it won't work for everyone.
- I read this book trying to understand some of the reasons I have so much fear in certain situations and, hopefully to overcome it. Did it work? Well, yes and no.
I read something profound in this book that told me I was the producer of anxiety. That it wasn't an illness that came and attacked me as a virus does, but that I generate it with my thoughts, which in turns produces imbalanced chemistry within my system. This clicked with me on so many levels and just knowing that helped me. It gave me encouragement.
There were some other really great insights in this book also. It's very well written and gives the reader a lot of hope that better days will come if you try hard enough. And I believe Dr. Luciani when he says it.
However, I am uncertain that there is a true "heart" to this book. If I had to summarize the main point of this book it would be this: You have the power to talk yourself and motivate yourself out of anxiety with the right thought patterns. Is the advice deep enough for a real meaningful change? I think it has the potential to be. Automatic negative thoughts are a huge problem for those of insecurity an low self-confidence, so the advice really is effective here.
Is this book helpful to those who are struggling with anxiety and depression? I would say emphatically "yes" and you should really read it. There is only good to be gotten from it. Will it be the ultimate solution to abolishing your severe anxiety/depression? I doubt it. But it could a great stepping stone to doing so.
I would give this book three and a half stars if I could - but since it only lets me use whole stars, I will tip the scale over to four. My summation of the book is this: It really is a worthwhile read with some effective advice.
- this book is pretty much all filler. the "Dr" that wrote it seems to like to repeat things over and over. the techniques are garbage... period. the book is basically about talking to yourself repeatedly till you forget your problems. what is that? the book should be called "Sweep your problems under a rug". got news for ya folks... life sucks sometimes and the last thing ya wanna do is dismiss problems. you gotta face them head on and just deal with the pain... it WILL pass, and if you cant and you become suicidal... books are not going to help, real doctors will.
- My one little problem was simply a personal bias against touchy feeling. If self-therapy is something you're interested in, also try this book linked below. It gives you a practical solution for accomplishing this stuff for yourself. At the very least you'll understand what you need to do.
Tao Cycle Therapy: Natural Happiness via Self Directed Cure for Chronic Anxiety & Depression [Updated 2008 3nd Edition]

5 comments about Panic Attacks Workbook: A Guided Program for Beating the Panic Trick.
- Great workbook, I wish I would of found it 12 years ago. Great exercises, makes sense. Highly recommend if you suffer from panic disorder.
- A client told me about this book. It is essentially the same process that I use in therapy. Very good self-help book!
- This is without a doubt the best material for anxiety/panic attack recovery. I found myself laughing(in joy and motivation) at a lot of the questions Dr. Carbonell asks- partly because they relate so well to me and forced me to think of how silly my notions of "danger" and "fear" as it relates to anxiety actually are. The author literally dismantles and tears down anxiety for what it actually is- a trick, nothing more, nothing less. I felt as though my long held stuggle with this apparent giant monster of anxiety/panic had been slapped in the face and stomped on. Ater reading this book, I can't help but to think that anxiety is the hack illness of all illnesses. In other words," why am I panicing over something thats completely harmless?" Great Book.
- I think the way the author deconstructs panic attacks, in a thorough, friendly and humorous way, makes it easy to see just how harmless they really are, regardless of how painful it seems at the time. I am learning to apply the techniques to manage panic attacks, and have already seen results. I have even found relief with anticipatory anxiety (a whole chapter on that). There are also helpful chapters devoted to public speaking and flying.
I also found it helpful that the author had suffered with his own panic issues and relates how he faced those and handled them. I think that goes a long way to lending credence to the work. Some other authors I have read have seemed too insensitive on the issue and have been too clinical, which caused me to drop their techniques.
I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has suffered with panic attacks. And DO the exercises and answer the questions! It's a workbook, after all.
- If you are experiencing panic attacks of significant intensity with or without agoraphobia, this is a great book to consider. Dr. Carbonell's sense of humor is tops and his writing will make you feel at ease. It is, however, a self-guided program that takes extra guts and moderate motivation, which is sometimes hard to muster when you're experiencing severe anxiety. I tried it for a few weeks and it helped me get back on my feet.

5 comments about How We Choose to Be Happy: The 9 Choices of Extremely Happy People--Their Secrets, Their Stories.
- please read this book and do the exercies! it will help you and make our world a better place for everyone to live in. thank you.
- HOW WE CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY dispels the myth that we have emotional set points and are stuck with whatever level of satisfaction we normally feel, in lives primarily influenced by luck of the draw.
Authors Foster and Hicks traveled the world to interview the happiest people referred to them in each town they visited, discovering that the happiest people in the world have made nine life choices in common. Significantly, it became clear that when these nine principles are adopted, they radically improve peoples' happiness in life regardless of what is going on around them.
The realizations in HOW WE CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY are so clearly stated with abundant examples of people who are merely cheerful, or in denial, rather than genuninely happy that their nine principles become more clearly outlined.
The big idea here is that happiness is a choice, or more precisely a series of choices, and when we choose to move our lives toward happiness by making changes to ourselves from the inside out, we can experience tremendous improvements in feelings of increased inner joy, peace and health.
Our health and wellbeing lies in our happiness... and when we realize that our happiness is a new way of life, this book becomes a much-needed guide to finding out just how good life can be. I give this book my highest recommendation.
- I borrowed this, read it end-to-end, and had to buy it. There aren't many books I want to read again, or keep as a reference to use over and over. But this is one. I've read hundreds of non-fiction books and there are only about 20 books I can say have given me something that I will carry with me.
On a superficial level, just reading this book makes me feel good. I know it wasn't meant to be like that... but I feel sunny just hearing the stories--they're Good People, these Happy people. And stranger still, I've been lazy, and just read it, not 'worked it', or 'studied it', but nonetheless, there's been a shift. I've absorbed something. It's got to me. Dammit! This book makes ... Sense. Why, Why, didn't I know this all along?
It's under my skin and I'm better off than I was before I came across it. Do yourself a favour. Buy it, then buy one for your boss.
- This book in essence touches on awareness. Being aware that we have the ability to choose our attitudes in life, and how having the right attitude can pay huge dividends. I liked the random quotes throughout this book and have written them down in journals so that I don't forget the insight that I gained.
- Outstanding:
Down to earth, logical, relatable day to day, easy and even entertaining to read.

5 comments about The Sex Bible: The Complete Guide to Sexual Love.
- I love to read books that are going to teach me how to be a better lover and this book The Sex Bible has been one of the best ones and i've read a few.I recomend that every woman should have The Sex Bible at home and all this goes for man too.
- "The Sex Bible", I thought, was one of the best books on all things sexual I have ever run across. For the price, you can't beat it as it's comphrensive and full of great ideas for sexual adventure, as well as delving into all time favorite topics such as "oral" and others. Additionally, it was very easy to read and to understand and not at all presented tackily, as some other "sex" books are. I read it in no time and highly recommend it, along with Good Sex: A Woman's Guide to Losing Inhibition.
- The Sex Bible was a wonderful book. Very educational. Good imagines but not porn. I would highly recommend buy it for a better sex life with your partner.
- WHO are these authors who add the word "Bible" to their title of SEX? Are any of these authors aware of what the "true" definition of what Bible means?
Definition:
n.
a. The sacred book of Christianity, a collection of ancient writings including the books of both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
b. The Hebrew Scriptures, the sacred book of Judaism.
c. A particular copy of a Bible: the old family Bible.

- I bought this book for my girlfriend as a present. She loved it, read it cover-to-cover, and the information it contained is practical and effective.
I would recommend this book.

- I was not impressed with the value of the ideas in this book. Very basic information that most people already know. I would suggest finding a book with more original ideas than this one. The authors say they read the top 20 time management books on Amazon and took ideas from those books. I would prefer an author that had some ideas based on thier own experience or on some new ideas they might have and then I might get something new. Pass on this one!
- Trust this title! This book really does contain The 25 Best Time Management Tools & Techniques. Ultimately this will tell you How to Get More Done Without Driving Yourself Crazy. Let's face it--24 hours in a day don't seem nearly long enough when you have multiple projects and deadly deadlines. These authors have put together strategies that actually work, simply because they have proven these techniques themselves. Both of them are out in the business world and therefore understand the time constraints, which led them to develop a solution for success.
The basic idea of the book is terrific. The authors read the top 20 time management books on the market and compiled the best advice into one easy-to-read book. Getting the benefit from 20 top-selling authors makes this one book a valuable resource. Five specific areas are covered: Focus, Plan, Organize, Take Action and Learn. A steady progression of ideas and actions are presented, allowing the reader time to think through the principles and actually apply them. Although it's best to read the book straight through, if a reader is tight on time, these specific categories can be used to find certain areas that may need immediate improvement. Already, the book saves the reader time!
The 25 tools and techniques mentioned in the title have the potential to positively affect anyone in the business world. These principles are clear and concise, but most importantly, they are realistic. While they involve a lot of concepts already known to successful people, having them arranged in this manner was a definite plus. From prioritizing to organizing, this book takes the reader into the corporate world and gives them a solid and secure route to achieving maximum productivity.
An annotated bibliography and a couple bonus sections are helpful, although some readers may be overwhelmed with all the additional information. As a sourcebook and a place of ready reference, this book is a hands-down winner. Anyone in the business world can benefit from this book, whether they are a seasoned CEO or a bright-eyed and excited entrepreneur.
There is a definite upbeat attitude by the authors, drawing readers in and assuring them that success and time management can be achieved, once their relationship is understood and applied. Practical advice is freely given, and detailed plans of action are both clear and informative. There are principles to help the reader say no, delegate work and communicate better.
In an exciting and wonderful way, this book practices what it preaches. It gleans the best advice, organizes it in a logical sequence, provides additional references and sums it all up for the reader. There is a lot of very useful information in this book. Sit down with a notebook beside you and prepare to be impressed at the authors' research and be ready to put these ideas into action. These field-tested, concrete management techniques can definitely help you get more done in the course of a day, while keeping sane. There is something useful on every page, and the way these techniques are presented makes the concepts readily available and easy to remember.

Author: Achieving Objectives Made Easy! Practical goal setting tools & proven time management techniques
- I recommended it !! I like much no need over 300 page for good guide. Also it come with appendices for buy a book and some recommended books! Is concise and direct to point !
- It is very simple guide that covers almost all critical time management tools and techniques. The level of simplicity shows that the writers are great masterminds of the subject. No doubt it took so much research, analysis and effort to write such a nice material loaded with many useful tips and advices. The writers say they had read 20 books on the subject and selected them on the basis of reviews written at Amazon (yeah they do care about what we think) !
I was tired of reading "well-known but dull books" written on the subject of the time management. Most of their writers tell "DO IT ON MY WAY" but this book tells "DO IT ON YOUR OWN WAY. It is a sincere, easy to read book.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives :) It could be your long expected missing time management book...
It is a good guide that deserves a big praise!

Twenty-five best time management tools and techniques? I'd say there are about four here. Number 17, for example is about a half-page: "Take risks." Thanks, very informative.
Another of my "favorites" is # 19: "Hold Better Meetings", where it advises you on the first of the two pages (well not quite two pages) to "hold meetings in atypical places...at a local low-key restaurant." Then two bullets later it advises not to serve food because "it adds unneeded cost, calories and distraction."
I would say that if tips like "follow up on outstanding items" are eye-opening to you, and this is the only book you can buy, then it's OK to let money go for it. Otherwise, I would suggest David Allen's "Getting Things Done", or Alec MacKenzie's "The Time Trap".
