5 comments about Eliminating Stress, Finding Inner Peace.
  1. "Eliminating Stress, Finding Inner Peace" must be one of the best relaxation/self-healing CDs. Since I started using it I stopped smoking, became a vegan, stopped drinking coffee and started exercising daily. I use this CD 3-4 times a week and I wouldn't want to be without it. Don't hesitate to purchase it!

  2. i found the book to be good, but the things spoken about where at least, for me, obvious...things i already knew about stress and how to eliminate it; but, the cd which comes with the book makes the book worth buying

  3. Although the book was a quick read, it was packed with solid information. The CD was even better! To date, I have yet to go as deep in my meditation practice as with Dr. Weiss's CD. This little package is a gem and worth every cent. Enjoy!

  4. This was easy to read and very helpful. The CD was relaxing. I will have to use it a number of times before I get the maximum benefit. Like everything else, you get what you put into it. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to eliminate stress and find inner peace. However, this book will provide you with all of the information and tools you need to do it, but YOU have to do it! A very pleasant read.

  5. This book helps bring the day to day stressors of life into a healthy perspective. It explains stress in a concrete manner and includes ways to increase strategies to handle stress and find inner peace. The CD with the meditation/guided imagery is extremely relaxing and helpful.

  1. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE READING THIS BOOK. I READ A LITTLE EVERY DAY AND SOMETIMES WHEN I'M NOT FEELING SO HAPPY I JUST PICK THE BOOK UP TO A RANDOM PAGE AND IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO APPLY TO MY CURRENT SITUATION OF HOW I'M FEELING AND ALWAYS CHEERS ME UP. IT'S A GREAT READ!!!!

  2. This is a wonderful little book to have laying around. Full of "pick me up" anecdotes for life.

  3. Another great book from Mike Dooley. He is very effective in his writing and speaking. Really enjoyed this!!

  4. I loved it. very uplifting. I get the Notes from the Universe e mails

I have told my friends to buy it too.

5 comments about Study Power: Study Skills to Improve Your Learning and Your Grades.
  1. This book is similar to the book, SURVEY OF 300 A+ STUDENTS: A+ STUDENTS DESCRIBE THEIR ACADEMIC STRATEGIES, by Kenneth Green (from Harvard). However, I think that Kenneth Green's book is more comprehensive and gives the information in a chronological order, which makes it a smoother read.

  2. This book is rather brief. This book is like a brief assortment of topics.
It didn't help me much. For time management (which possibly is the greatest skill that any student must master), the authors just mention very briefly.

  3. The content and writing style of this book are more appropriate to the high school or college student. The book probably would not motivate a younger reader...too serious and too general.

  4. I suggest this read to anyone who is serious about stuyding and wants to earn A's. Although it's a lot of work if you follow the book's suggestions I can't see how anyone could not get great grades!

  5. This book is invaluable! As a returning adult student (grad school) this book provides the ultimate road map for getting A+ grades. As a star student (h.s. valedictorian) I know a lot about getting the top grade in every class - this book provided me with tips I've never read anywhere else, and I've read a few books on this topic. I recently used a few of these new study ideas in 2 econ classes at jr college (review before grad school) and I received A+ grades in both classes - exactly what I wanted! Since it's been over 20 yrs since I've been in a classroom, my results were unexpectedly high, and I'm thrilled. These authors know their stuff, and they present it in clear, understandable ways that can be easily learned and consistently used. I am very grateful that I've found this book and will use the ideas and processes the authors provide for the rest of my school career (the book also provides ideas that can be transferred to the business world about preparation, people communications, and process.) This book is the best I've found; and would benefit high school, college and all adult students, regardless of field of study.

5 comments about 101 Power Thoughts.
  1. I really would like to recommend this CD. I almost always listen to it while driving my car, and the positive statements/affirmations are so wonderful to hear. Inspiration to my life!

  2. My wife and I listen to this CD every morning to start our day. I've found no matter how twisted I might be in my state of mind, starting my day by listening to wholesome suggestions for thinking positive helps the day flow for me much easier and the bumps I encounter don't have as much impact. It has helped my relationships flourish and grow.

  3. Only one improvement I feel is needed. The CD only has 2 tracks divided in half. So its kind of hard to use the repeat on your player if you want to hear the same affirmation over and over again.

But, overall this is a great CD. Its a nice change of pace from talk radio. Louise Hay's voice is soothing, and loving and when listening to it you just feel at peace.
I recommend this for anyone who wants to replace the constant mind chatter with something inspiring and something to help change your thoughts.

  4. I couldn't imagine what to expect from this CD. I popped it in the player and out came a soft friendly voice telling me what I deserve out of life. It was great to hear that I deserve goodness in life and deserve to be loved because Im me. I sure hadn't told myself that before. These and a ton of other affirmations seemed more valid to me since they were coming from an unbiased third party. This started to get my brain going on the right track. Hopefully soon I can regularly implement (think them, say them and believe them) these power thoughts during the day especially if negative mind chatter pops up. I do highly recommend this CD. Each time after listening to it I feel so uplifted, positive, peace of mind, and relaxed. Ive started putting it in while doing household chores and while in the car. Like another review states its very soothing and relaxing to listen to....that surprised me. Thanks Louise!

  5. I am so glad I purchased this CD! The more I listen to it, the more I love it. Everything Louise Hay talks about in "101 Power Thoughts" makes pefect sense.
I listen to it pretty much every day while driving and noticed that I always have a wonderful day if I listen to it. It does give me positive energy that lasts throughout the day no matter what.

5 comments about How to Get Your Point Across in 30 Seconds or Less.
  1. I care about the skills to communicate effectively and successfully. So do you?
I am tired of reading standard textbook or "expert advice" pages after pages. So are you?
I really enjoyed reading this small and thin book (only 120 pages) with articulating words and practical suggestions. So will you!

  2. This is an appropriately short book as the author espouses choosing words carefully and keeping your message brief. 30 seconds is all you need. In fact, he makes the point that it's typically all the listener can handle.

Frank breaks down the keys to creating an effective 30 second message as follows: Have a clear objective. Identify the individuals that can give you what you want. Decide on your approach.

Then he steps through the structure and components of the message: the hook, body, and close.

Finally, he leaves the reader with some tips: Use Imagery. Talk plainly (no business-ease). Personalize the message. Evoke emotion.

Of course, like anything else worth doing, it requires practice.

-- Nick McCormick, Author, Lead Well and Prosper: 15 Successful Strategies for Becoming a Good Manager

  3. This book is excellent. It came fast, and it held my attention from the moment I opened it. I had already been implementing some of the techniques naturally because I am a very direct person but this book definitely outline some key elements and will help the long-winded business person. Regardless of the approach you decide to use, you always want to be tactful and present information in such a manner that the other party will hear you. This means taking out your emotions about a manner, and replacing it with compassion if needed.

  4. I found this audio disk by accident at a store one day, and can comfortably say that it has paid for itself 10,000 times over in real dollars.

Milo Frank's program will teach you how to come up with a hook that will grab your listener's attention right away, and how to come up with a powerful, quick-and-to-the-point, attention-grabbing 30-second presentation.

After listening to this CD, I modified my business development techniques so they include a hook in the first five seconds, and have an intro statement that last no more than 30 seconds. My cold calling results have increased enormously.

This will take you less than an hour to listen to, and teach you a skill that will be with you for the rest of your life. I recommend it to everyone, especially people in sales. Anyone looking for a job should also listen to this (I have a free executive job hunting advice website - www.JobMagician.com - and recommend on it that job hunters use Milo Frank's techniques.

    Job Magician

  5. The book had some useful suggestions, and the author provided many examples that he himself has used. But with these suggestions it seemed like the author was showing off and bragging more about how he persuaded people than focusing on the lessons of communication. Natuarally how we speak can and does have an influence on people. I see that as a separate topic. I wanted a book that could help me summarize my thoughts so I can communicate them more succinctly.

5 comments about The Gift: The 12 Greatest Tools of Personal Growth -- and How to Put Them into Practice.
  1. The 12 concepts are great...but getting to them isn't. The book reads like an infomercial for a company which shall be nameless (in this review at least.) You will get a lot more out of Helmstetter's book "What to Say When You Talk to Yourself." There's really nothing new here. Good information hidden among the sales pitch for .

  2. This book is basically an advertisement for recruitment into Arbonne cosmetics. The underlying message is very good but you have to wade around the book to find it. I have read "What To Say When You Talk To Yourself" by the same author and it is very good. No advertisements. Just a good book. I was expecting the same with this one. I will not be recommending this to anyone.

  3. This is a book that will pick you up, and start you on the road to discovering your dreams again. We all used to dream as kids, but many of us have forgotten how. (And as for the reviews of it being too much about Arbonne -- maybe the reason he uses Arbonne as his example so often in the book is because Arbonne is one company that "gets it.")

  4. What a pity that a man with such integrity and expertise in the personal development field ends up tainting his work by trying to market and manipulate you into Arbonne International. His principles are good but ends up compromising himself. Its still worth the read.

  5. I have yet to complete this book, but from what I have read thus far, I think it is a great reminder that people can be more/do more with their lives. It is a recommended book for all Arbonne Consultants.

5 comments about Power Through Constructive Thinking.
  1. To me - Emmet's "Power Through Constructive Thinking" is the foundation stone of all his powerful, inspiring & motivational books.

This one outlines in detail & comprehensively the technique for turning your thought processes into power to achieve peace, prosperity, health & happiness.

The process is easy & logical as soon as you see it. He uses Bible tracts to expand his ideas & show that this is nothing new. Mental science & the power of the mind has been around & recognised for thousands of years. Some successful people take the idea for granted & may not even realise they're using this system.

Despite the books age & the period from which it came, Emmet writes clearly & with fluidity that makes you want to carry on & finish the next chapter.

If you can just hold his ideas in place, remember them (write them down if need be) & daily put them into practice, you'll see your success's grow from day to day, followed health, happiness, prosperity & peace. All of which is nothing more than we're all clambering for - isn't it?

  3. "To be afraid is to have more faith in
    evil than in God."
    --Emmet Fox

This quote from Emmet Fox, taken out of Power through Constructive Thinking is just one small example of powerful moments of insight to be found throughout this book. Much of what Fox says back in the 1930s and 40s is echoed by today's new age teachers. Abraham-Hicks comes to mind specifically.

  4. This book is a tremendous avenue to reawaken the senses and uplift your belief system in realizing that we control our destiny. Through constructive and positive thinking we ca have it all- health, healing, happiness, and a liberated spirit. Power Through Constructive Thinking

  5. This is an amazing book! I read it through twice and now I'm using it as a study and meditation tool. I've read, seen and heard a lot about positive thinking and all has been helpful, however this book has been the one thing that has gotten me to another level with the entire concept. The information provided is easy to understand and apply. The principles are much like that of other books that teach about positive thinking, but this one comes from a highly spiritual place. It got me to a new level of understanding. Previously, I was having trouble with some of the concepts of attracting great things into my life based on my beliefs of self worth. When I realized I am not only worthy, but that it is my divine birthright, amazing events and feelings came about. Our purpose is to express God on earth so how could love, joy, health and prosperity be anything but the natural flow. I highly recommend this book and challenge you to reach a new level of truth within yourself.

5 comments about No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One.
  1. My counselor recommended this book as the best read for suicide surviviors. I'll take her word for it. Although it is not a hard read, it was a long read because I could only take so much at a time.

  2. Easy reading - I like that with each person interviewed that it gave details like what they do and their age - made you feel a little closer to that person and what they are. Didn't like some of the "detail" if you catch my drift, it's hard enough getting the "detail" of my fathers death out of my head, let alone someone else's. Author even emailed me when I emailed her about support groups in my area. Made me feel cared about.

  3. I read this book in two days, through many tears. I lost my beloved father to suicide just 5 months ago and have been struggling with the "what ifs" and "whys" and the massive guilt, grief, anger, bewilderment that all survivors carry around. This book is clearly written, no holds barred (descriptions of suicides are a bit jarring) and honest. I have been attending Survivors of Suicide support group and this book had been recommended to me by several other survivors. I would recommend it to all survivors as required reading.

I took a highlighter and marked many passages for my husband to read. He ssid that it helped him to understand more about what I have been feeling and why.

  4. This book is wonderfully written and will be a staple on my bookshelf for years to come. This book is perfectly paired with proven facts and touching stories of many other survivors and their own particular stories. It "normalizes" the choas of the situation, and provides ever-needed understanding of the survivors' special circumstances. The writer does a wonderful job weaving her own story with the decoding of technical terms revolving around suicide, and other the individual survivors' stories. I wore out a highlighter with all the information related to my own story, and it will provide me with short-term as well as long-term guidance as needed in the future.

  5. This book was the very first book I read since my partner committing suicide. I found it to be so helpful in my process of grieving. What I am going through is normal for a suicide. I am not going crazy. It is written with love and compassion, I urge anyone who has lost someone to this awful illness to read it, it will help.

5 comments about Improv Wisdom: Don't Prepare, Just Show Up.
  1. I devoured Improv Wisdom the first time through, recognizing immediately the value on each page. Then I gave a copy to each of my adult children and to two of my best friends. And now I keep the book by my bed so that every morning I can open to a page at random and make the message on that page be my focus for the day.

It's amazing what small shifts have resulted from this practice. After two months these small shifts in attitude and behavior have led to some major positive changes in my life. Life is happening NOW; Madsen's maxims give you a way to milk each moment as it unfolds.

  2. I loved this book. I bought it as an aid for designing training, but it's really a manifesto for living. It is indeed full of wisdom - read it, enjoy it and use it. And just show up.

  3. How many self-help books have you read that leave you shaking your head saying - well, that was 3-4 hours of my life that I can't get back? (I have read many!) You won't find yourself saying that with this book. Patricia Ryan Madson offers up 13 strategies on how to lead an inspired and satisfying life by facing challenges in an unscripted manner. The book is beautifully written. It is filled with anecdotes and helpful techniques that will enhance your everyday life. Where was Ms. Madson when I needed her in college?

    1) Say Yes
    2) Don't Prepare
    3) Just Show Up
    4) Start Anywhere
    5) Be Average
    6) Pay Attention
    7) Face the Facts
    8) Stay on Course
    9) Wake up to the Gifts
    10) Make Mistakes, Please
    11) Act Now
    12) Take Care of Each Other
    13) Enjoy the Ride

  4. This is a very insightful journey of transition from a person who planned everything down to the last detail into a person who learned that just showing up is more important.

    John Crewdson
    www.camptaichi.com

  5. This book is a fun read and useful in a number of ways- personal growth, exercises to use alone or with others. i never realized how much life coaching uses improv exercises until i read this book. It is concise and packed with goodies.

  2. No words to describe the amazing content of this book.
A must! It changed my life.

  3. It is a good book about how you should act in your life. How our parents are doing what their parent do with them. It is good to read and try to put in practice.... It is dificult when you put in practice, but remember practice make the master!!

  4. Helps free us mentally from the past. I started reading it and it's so true what has been past from our ancestors (grandparents, to our parents) affect our success in life and how we cope with our problems because of those believes.

I recommend it to anyone that it's feeling tied up in life, one who is fearful or anxious. It's a great book for those who are willing to be open minded, and wants to receive the best. One who wants to move up in life and enjoy it while forgiving those who we have held captive in our insecurities and gruges.

Must read and give as a gift. It's food for the mind, and easy to read.
