5 comments about The Fine Art Of Erotic Talk: How To Entice, Excite, And Enchant Your Lover With Words.
  1. This book gives a very good starting point for couples who are new at erotic talk. Those readers who have already tried this form of communication should probably pass on this selection. It's definitely a beginner's manual.

  2. I admire this author's willingness to explore the taboo subject of dirty talk, no matter how embarrassing and finicky it may seem to some people. I found myself nodding in agreement at society's timid approach to verbal stimulation during intimacy. The Fine Art of Erotic Talk is a great beginner's guidebook on how to express yourself verbally in bed. I was duly impressed with this book.

  3. Do not buy this book. Unless you need to be able to laugh about your inability to "talk dirty" with your partner. This book was a complete and total waste of time and money.

  4. I throughly enjoyed this book and it opened my eyes to the simplicity of this art.

  5. I was a little embarassed with the type of words that are suggested. Stuff about Mother Earth and similar "hippy" terms that to me are not erotic. There are a few suggestive phrases that have helped me open up and come up with my own ideas. But this is really a starter book and should be much less expensive then it is. Money-wise, I felt I was ripped off. I have looked at some of these word suggestions and laughed! There is no way I could say a few of these things without busting out laughing (the wrong way) during sex! An ok book, but not one I would recommend unless the price drops considerably. I also bought mine used, but clearly should've bought it cheaper!

5 comments about The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have.
  1. This book is excellent and very inspiring. I have given several copies as gifts and will continue to do so.

  2. Love this book. It is filled with 365 daily mediations that only take 10 minutes to read but the message fills your day with wonder.

  3. The Book of Awakening was given to me as a gift. When I discovered it was a daily reader of essays and meditation exercises, I recognized that it is a treasure. Simply-told tales of philosophers, or fables, illustrate key concepts that I am integrating in my life: openness to receive gifts from the universe, the need for patience, acceptance of life on life's terms...The readings are helpful for my own personal growth, as well as nurturing personal relationships. "Feel the love beneath all moods" is a favorite expression from this book that gently reminds me to turn my thoughts, attitudes, and behavior to love instead of focusing on some petty circumstance. This book is a true gift.

  4. Nepo's book was given to me during my radiation treatment 5 years ago and I have read it daily since. It was a source of inspiration for me during a trying time and today it is a touchstone for my daily practices. He has been to the edge of the abyss and he returned to share his story with the reader and to act as a guide for all of us. So, whether you are facing an almost insurmountable
personal challenge, climbing a mountain or looking for a guide to lift your spirits and show you where to walk along the path in your daily journey, this is a book you should consider. It makes a great gift for anyone who is living life.

  5. Almost every day I am astounded at the insight of these meditations--and so grateful for the awareness they bring.

5 comments about Forgiveness, Making Room for the Miracle, 2nd Edition.
  1. Such an important part of learning about life! Get it for yourself and give it away as a gift. So great!

  2. I have been using the tools that Colin Tipping has outlined in Radical Forgiveness for 10 months and the miracles that have occurred in my life are amazing. I am personally in a group of 100 people who are all working this program. It is truly a life changing experience. I highly recommmend this book to anyone who has felt stuck, who wants more out of life, who has found that years of traditional therapy have done nothing to "fix" their life. If you've seen The Secret, or What The Bleep, and you ever wondered "what next?"...this is the book you must read. I promise you that you will have a life changing experience.

  3. Dear readers: I was skeptic, as usual, but I was also 'aching to heal'. We all have our life stories, we all feed them and feed from them. I was tired of my story. Radical Forgiveness Radical Forgiveness, Making Room for the Miracle, 2nd Editiontouched the right chords and the resulting symphony helped me understand-a lot. I read it in a weekeend and downloaded the worksheet. It worked. Try it. Of course I haven't finished composing but I have started. Just a word of warning: You will heal so you have to be sure you want to move ahead and leave your old, worn out, victim self behind and start becoming acquainted with a new you, actually, the real you that you intuitively know is there. Best wishes. Marianne

  4. This book has changed my life. It recently got me through a crisis. I have actually purchased several of them as gifts! Buy and use it!

  5. A different way to look at forgiveness. Its not conventional forgiveness. Very good! a great book, highly recommended.

5 comments about The Essential Laws of Fearless Living: Find the Power to Never F Powerless Again.
  1. Easy reading and shows you how to change your life by making choices. This reminds me of The Secret and one of my favorite books to change your life to the life you desire, Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook. If you do not know or understand the Law of Attraction this is the book to read.

  2. Over the years, Guy Finley's output has been truly prolific. Books, cds, videos that interpret timeless spiritual wisdom in a modern way. This book borrows a little from his most inpiring moments. I found it truly inpirational from start to finish, pointing to the true nature of self from many different angles. Guy has a very unique style of sharing the wisdom, often employing little parables, humour and poetic writing. In his audio material, there is the added dimension of his very emotive voice.

To select just one example of what touched me in this book, his unfolding of the biblical verse 'be still and know that I am God' (Psalms 46:10) was a wonderful revelation. He points to the reality that 'who we are' is the underlying stillness beneath our thoughts and emotions. 'Be still and be free.'

  3. This has become my current favorite self-development/motivational book. I've purchased so many books of this type, but always ended up feeling like something was still missing, or I didn't quite get, and end up buying other books in the hopes one of the them would unlock whatever it was I was trying to resolve. I've read it twice in the last 3 weeks, scribbling notes all over it, and I think somewhere inside is the key to that 'thing' I've been searching for. Not sure what exactly what that thing is, but situations that would've been stressful for me [recently] have completely vanished, I realized in hindsight.

As far as personal developement goes I've made tremendous gains, and the urge to keep looking for the next book has vanished and I plan on reading it again in the near future.

I think it's all in the framing. Finley has a way of writing that combines good NLP with the lyricalness of, say, John O'Donohue.

  4. Get this book today. Fearless Living talks to those of us that are spending too much of our waking hours thinking and worrying about yesterdays gone by or tomorrows that have yet to come, imagining circumstances our over active minds make up out of thin air (people looking at us in a funny way so we make up a scenario that they don't like us for some imaginary reason). Hahahaha! Been there, done that!?

This is wasting sooooo much of our time and lives, keeping us from living "right now" and in "the moment". Guy Finley is terrific and you will LOVE the book. It will change your life. It will make you HAPPY!

  5. The wisdom that you will find in this book is very helpful for those who are true spiritual seekers. If you have read any of Mr. Finleys books or heard any of his talks you will love this book. If this is your first experience of Mr. Finleys work then this book is a wonderful choice. Mr. Finley always teaches that we must discover the truth within ourself of what he teaches. If you are looking for a blueprint with A-Z then this book is probably not for you at this time. If you are looking for that peace within yourself or wisdom that you can use in every situation in your life read this book. What a wonderful handbook of spiritual truth that can help you to discover within your self spiritual growth.

5 comments about Courage After Fire: Coping Strategies for Troops Returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and Their Families.
  1. As a disability service provider, I found this book particularly helpful. It is practical and to the point. Veterans can find tips on everything from how to sleep better to how to relax and cope with stressors. The triggers of anxiety are explained well, as are the ways veterans typically handle their pain. At the end of each chapter are helpful tips for family members. After I read it, I ordered ten copies of this book to give away to student veterans and their families.

  2. I was skeptical when purchasing this book, but the topics are discussed in such a way that you do not feel like you're reading "self-help". The focus is not on PTSD (although that is one of the topics covered), but more on a healthy transition from a chaotic environment. I would recommend this to any serviceman, spouse, parent, or close friend.

  3. It wasn't the war, it was when I returned home and could not function. I applaud this book for it's intent and gratitude that it gives to our young warriors. It is one of the few written for "our" generation. Thank you

-Timothy Kendrick author-PTSD: Pathways Through the Secret Door

  4. My son suggested I read this before he comes home from his tour of duty in Iraq. It has been very helpful to understand what he has to deal with in terms of adjusting from daily combat and normal day to day life at home. Most people don't have a clue what these brave men and women have to deal with. They cannot just turn off their emotions just because they are back home.
Eveyone who has a loved one serving in a war zone should read this book.

  5. I purchased this for my boyfriend upon him returning home from Fallujah. He didn't open it once. It's just not a book that a war veteran wants to read, or even be reminded of. He went through enough and all he really needed was professional help. Not a book that reiterates the pain and struggles that families endure.

5 comments about Creating Money: Attracting Abundance (Sanaya Roman).
  1. This is an excellent book. I had the first addition and read it over and over until I practically wore it out. I loaned it to a friend and it never came back. Of course, I had to replace it! I haven't finished reading it!

  2. CREATING MONEY: ATTRACTING ABUNDANCE was a best-selling book around the world, selling over 500,000 copies with its easy step-by-step process on achieving prosperity through spiritual laws of abundance. This edition has been vastly revised and updated, adding new examples, stories, and techniques on how to attract abundance in all walks of life. Abundance means more than just money: readers here learn to link empowerment with choice in a powerful recommendation for any collection strong in New Age materials.

  3. The book arrived in As New and on time. The best you can expect. Thank you with appreciation.

  4. This book is full of wisdom and lessons not only about money, but also attachment, fear, release, trusting the universe and yourself. I highly reccomend it for people who are starting a business, coming out of recession, debt, etc.

  5. This book lays it all out for you...way ahead of it's time and still THE BEST book on attracting abundance. I love this book...what can I say!

From helping guide us to new ways of viewing abundance to exercises to help sort through all the layers of "stuff" most of us have about money...this book DELIVERS.

I have ordered the CDs and cannot wait to get them to get started on creating even more abundance in my life.

5 comments about Wisdom of the Peaceful Warrior: A Companion to the Book That Changes Lives (Millman, Dan).
  1. If you enjoyed the original "Way of The Peacuful Warrior" this rejuevenates everything, and then some. I loved it.

  2. READ ALL DAN MILLMAN'S BOOKS. THEY WILL ALL CONTINUE YOUR PERSONAL JOURNEY TO PEACE. STAY ON THE PATH! DAN MILLMAN HAS THE ABILITY TO REACH INTO THE DARK CORNERS OF THE MIND LIKE NO OTHER AUTHOR I HAVE READ. HIS BOOKS HAVE LITERALLY CHANGED MY LIFE.

  3. This new Dan Millman book is just basically a repetition of what he says in No ordinary moments, Living on Purpose and the post-Peaceful warrior series. It seems as if Dan wants to squeeze the most out of Peaceful Warrior, and it seems that there is really no more to say about it.
I think Dan should try writing something new and original, we love Peaceful Warrior, but another book about it seems too much. You will find no new wisdom or new information, only the same stories, quotes, proverbs and phrases that appear all throughout his books -and I own them all-.

  4. If you are new to Dan Millman, or an established reader of his, this book offers a background to many of his concepts originally introduced in PEACEFUL WARRIOR. I regard this book as Millman's best, as it outlines his wisdom in simple terms, without the fictional aspect. It is a superb follow-up to reading Peaceful Warrior. Millman has come a long way since his college days, and this is reflected in this book, a sometimes sombre and very mature assessment of his original work. I'm a huge fan of Dan Millman's, and if you appreciate his previous books, then this is a worthwhile addition to your collection.

  5. It seems that everyone these days is reading a book like the Dan Millman books. I think there are better books out there. There was nothing in there that got to me in any way. I think reading a book about Buddhism is a better idea if you truly want to find peace in your life. These sort of books are really trendy and Oprah and friends make everyone want to rush out and buy these "life changing" books, but it takes more than reading. You have to apply the stuff too. Read Principals of Buddhism by Kulananda instead.

5 comments about When God Winks at You: How God Speaks Directly to You Through the Power of Coincidence.
  1. What an absolutely delightful book! I read it on an airplane and found my self chuckling and tearing up! When I arrived at my destination, I was talking about the book and the stories and my niece and nephew, aged 13 and 11 wanted to know more so I read them some of the anecdotes. This is a wonderful book for all ages, who are open to be touched by wonder!God winks abound in our lives if we have eyes to see.

  2. I have read all three God wink books and will recommend them to my friends.

  3. This was given to me as a gift...to read a story a day or week as a devotional. It was all I could do not to sit and read the book cover to cover. With discipline, I managed to savor it for 5 days. Real, and better than any reality TV you'd watch!

  4. More than apt encouragement to understand that there is no such thing as a coincidence!

  5. This is a delightful, light reading, inspriring, thought provoking little book. I was very happy with it and it makes a great gift.

5 comments about Addict In The Family: Stories of Loss, Hope, and Recovery..
  1. This is one of the best books I have read in regards to how addiction affects the family. It has some stories as examples, but gets to the point. I am a counselor and a family member of an addict. I found this book right on with my experiences dealing with my younger sister who is an addict. It has a nice balance of education and ways to deal with an addict. We as family members have to stop enabling the addict or we are just helping them stay sick. This book makes this point very clear. Well written and easy to read. This book is a source of comfort like the author states in her introduction. She did a great job putting together information and she is so right when she states there are few books out there for family memebers. I would love to see one on how siblings are affected by the addict and the parents that focus on the addict. I thought this was so well written I bought and sent copies to all my siblings and mother. We all have participated or are still participating in enabling behaviors, which although intentions are good, it is not helpful, it is destructive.

  2. This book is analagous to a well-stocked pantry filled with provisions as well as the implements needed to put these resources to good use. The essence of the author's message appears to be based on the 12-Step prototype. If "Addict in the Family" contains any weakness at all, it might be the author's tendency to do it all by "The Book," including peppering the account with various references to 12-step doctrines, adages and buzzwords. A reader who is already familiar with the steps might find this format to be slightly repetitious and fairly predictable.

Through the author's story of her daughter's addiction as well as accounts given to her by other parents and loved ones of addicts, we are able to contemplate, if not feel, the pernicious grip that addiction has on everyone in the addict's circle. What follows are examples of every- day situations family members face as a result of their loved ones' addictions. We are given examples of strategies and responses that are helpful in managing or deflecting the often irrational behavior of the addict.

There is a dash of irony in the lessons that gently simmer throughout the book. While the addicted family member tends to exhibit certain obsessions surrounding his substances of choice, the author deftly conjures up a mirror image of the addict's loved one. In this dual depiction it becomes clear that the addict's family member often becomes susceptible to some of the same traits exhibited by the addict: we are reminded by the writer, ever so gently, that there are, perhaps, more similarities than differences between our addicts and ourselves. The tiny germs of irony come spilling out like so many tears: Just as our addict feels a sense of unremitting shame, so do we. Our addict is angry, and so are we. The addicted ones are depressed, sad and despondent, and we are, too.

Addicts tend to fall into the habit of concealing their ignoble behavior beneath a convincing enough topping of lies, subterfuge and denial. It appears that we family members, in the beginning, at least, are willing - even eager - to believe the fantastic multi-layered cake of deception towering in front of us. The facade that all is well is an appealing one, especially as one becomes initiated to the instability of living with a person who is also an addict. It is in this effort to achieve a measure of sanity that the addicted person's loved one often crumbles from the heat and the turbulence.

As we continue to glean sustenance from the author's kernels of wisdom, it becomes all too apparent that we, along with our addicted loved ones, are being poisoned by the unsavory byproducts of addiction.

This book offers suggestions to the family and loved ones of addicts, and these methods require us to exchange our toxic coating of negativity and denial for one that nourishes us - physically, mentally, spiritually and economically - without distorting our reality. The author recalls a time when her daughter, upon being asked of her whereabouts that evening, proceeds to concoct one of her characteristically tall tales. Although the mother knew her daughter was lying, she refrained from voicing those suspicions. Instead, she allowed her daughter to finish, while she remained impassive and unprovoked, thereby empowering herself and disarming her daughter in the process.

Setting rules and limits for the addict is another mechanism suggested in the book as a way to safeguard our overall wellbeing. Asking the addict to move out should his behavior become too disruptive or disturbing - and carrying out the order - is one more example of disengaging from our addicted love ones. There are many other inspiring stories included in the book along with helpful advice, hope and encouragement from those who have been where we, the families of an addict, are now.

At the end of the book, there are pages with listings of substance abuse facilities, mental health treatment centers, dual diagnosis rehabs, detox centers, and services for the families of the chemically addicted. It is a very comprehensive list for those who are looking for help in dealing with an addiction, whether it be a loved one's or their own.

  3. This is a very helpful book for any person with an addict in the family. This book confirmed many of the same things I am going through with my son who is addicted to painkillers and heroin. In addition to helping me cope and help me understand my son's own addiction, it has revealed to me the importance of getting myself well. Addiction effects the entire family in a very damaging and far reaching way. I have a long way to go but I am learning to detach myself in order to move forward and be there for my son when he finally decides that recovery is the best and only course of action. This will be probably one of the toughest challenges I will face in my life. This book has given me hope and let me know that I am not alone in this lifelong struggle.

  4. A good introduction to the perils of addiction and the biological and chemical processes that grip users. An important message to anyone touched by the horrors of addiction.

  5. My mother recently died and I wondered where I could go to process thirty years of living with the battle she had with my sister's addiction. I happened to find this book and it was a godsend. Excellent book on the entire process that you go thru with an addict in the family. I wish I had this book when I was younger. I am so thankful this author captured it all. I can't recommend this enough to anyone suffering out there with this problem.

5 comments about The Art Of Sensual Female Dominance: A Guide for Women.
  1. This book is a great introduction into the world of Female Domination. It's a bit more on the sensual, erotic side. A great follow-up read for this book would be Claudia Varrin's other work entitled Female Domination: Rituals and Practices.

  2. Then you will love this book! Claudia Varrin is the Dr Ruth of the B&D scene. In addition to being able to understand and explore the world of dominants and submissives, she also provides a terrific amount of psychological insights into men and women. She outlines the worlds of the dominants and submissives and gives rules and safety guides for those who wish to choose this lifestyle.

Her insights are also helpful in everyday life: for instance why do so many men stay in relationships with women who are absolutely hateful, demanding and humiliating to them? Why would a strong powerful businessman pay a woman to demean him sexually? Who has the real power in these relationships?

The book is good because it is honest and no nonsence about a taboo subject that has always been with us. It provides loads of information even if you are not into the scene. If you have been married 30 years and just want to be the woman on top, or ask for a little zing after reading this book you may find your husband thrilled you bought it and brought things up. The book focusses on the sexiest organ in the body---the brain.

Ms. Varrin also has another book out which I have not yet read, but I feel if it is half as informative it too is well worth picking up.

  3. This book is geared toward the extreme novice; I found it to be very fluffy, filled with a lot of anecdotal padding. Some of her information is outright wrong (A year to heal a clitoral hood piercing?! Has this woman *been* to a piercing parlor? Seriously, just ignore everything she says in the chapter on exotic practices.) and much more of it not especially useful. Her estimation of what play belongs in the realm of the expert player is just silly in cases. If you have any bdsm background to speak of, save your money.

  4. I think this book is great. Its great for the beginner Domme or the couple who want to spice up their sex lives. You can take it all or take bits and pieces. She really makes it feel ok and comfortable about trying BDSM. She is really guiding you by the hand in a first experience if you don't know what you are doing. And she covers the more advance activities briefly.

    www.funsexxxtoys.com

  5. The audience for this book will quickly discover that this woman knows how to write and she knows her subject backwards and forwards, and inside and out. This is a more advanced look at D&S and S&M than the majority of those on the market. While most of the techniques described in minute detail in this guidebook are far beyond this reader's personal experience, there is always something useful for anyone to learn from reading it. It does answer some of the nagging questions that everyone curious about the scene seeks to know--even if they aren't going to personally try those most advanced experiments in extreme sensation, domination, fisting, humiliation, slave training, water sports or exhibition and group party games. Ditto for actually trying pony training, caning, using the bullwhip and violet wands.
This book purports to be intended for women to turn their consenting monogamous adult male partners into happy, sexually satisfied silly putty. The boast is justified. As a male, this reviewer doubts that many men could describe the "in's and out's" of the psychology of humiliation, mind games or other detailed techniques for driving males crazy with desire half as well as this former dominatrix-turned-author. There is no question from the material covered in the book that this woman has vast experience with her subject matter and she doesn't hesitate to share her knowledge in excruciating detail after detail. Even the readers of these games will know instinctively that what she is describing works--sometimes it even begets results just from reading her thoughts as she transfers them to the printed page.
Because this book is much more advanced than most on the subject, a lot of time is devoted to playing safely. Two different anatomy charts of the male body are included with the danger zones for each activity clearly marked. It's like a scene out of the old movie classic "Spartacus" where the ex-gladiator drill sergeant is using Kirk Douglas's body to paint the various kill and injury areas to show the other would-be gladiators.
One doesn't have to read far to understand how fragile the human body really is. It's obvious why Varrin goes to the trouble of pointing out the danger points for some of her extreme S&M games. For instance she reminds the reader never to use the violet wand above the waist and to know if your partner has any kind of heart trouble or a pace maker. Electricity is always dangerous even in mild doses.
Like any serious writer or practitioner of these D&S and S&M scenes, communication, knowledgeable consent, detailed planning, safe sex, and more communication even during and after the scene is completed are indispensable. The reason for the increasing popularity of this kind of play is simple: done correctly it can make a sexual tryst last for hours or even all night and into the next day. Where else can a loving couple have seemingly endless sex? And because it is so satisfying, great care must be taken to protect one's playmate from any kind of injury or real, unwanted harm including utter exhaustion.
This book will definitely provide enlightening reading for interested would-be participants as well as the people who are simply curious about the practices described. It's one of the better tomes on the complex subject. And while it's primarily intended as a guide for women to use on their willing, kinky male lovers or husbands, most of the techniques can easily be adapted for any combination of males and females. Even games for "hen parties" are suggested. How many male submissives have lust-filled dreams of being the focal point of a house or dungeon party comprised entirely, or mostly, of skilled dominatrixes with him as the door prize or party favor for all of them to sample?
