5 comments about The Da Vinci Method - Break Out & Express Your Fire.
  1. That's what it felt like as I read Garrett's book...it felt like somebody had stolen my identity, my life story, and published it in a book. Talk about hitting the nail on the head!

If you've ever been told you're ADD/ADHD, you NEED this book. There's no other way around it. If you don't have this book, you're going to struggle and you're going to flounder, because society just doesn't understand us. They don't understand why we are the way we are and why we do the things we do.

Pick this book up today and read it. Most likely in one setting. That's what I did!

    Stephen

  2. I picked this up to see if I could draw a bead on some aspects of my bipolar disorder. When I bought it, I already had learned steps to control my illness and it had mostly vanished. I had been devastatingly sick for 8 years and increasingly well for about 2 when I found this book. I was not satisfied that I'd looked under every rock for info to heal myself fully. This book turned out to be a HUGE missing piece!

First, let me say, it's NOT a book about bipolar or mental illness but it applies to many of us in these categories by default. Not all of us but some. I was one. I am someone who believes my handling or mishandling of life and my mind is what partially led to my profound illness taking root. I thought this before I found Garrett's book. But he comfirmed it for me on a whole new level I'd never considered.

He also confirmed other bits of science and psychology I'd found elsewhere and adopted as my own. This sort of third party unrelated cross backing of ideas excited me! He confirmed much of what I intuited or had heard or read elsewhere about why some of us melt down mentally.

Some of his material is sort of deep and mystical in feel and you have to have a certain amount of understanding within you about yourself to really climb onboard. Other facts he brings up are solid science but really farout stuff, nonetheless. But I love when a scientist vouches for my trippier thoughts or clarifies with hard data what I only feel to be true.

It's this simple. If you're dissatisfied with life but know you're made of a different thread than most around you, then buy this book. Like me, you possibly just need better guidance to crack through to a level you're right on the edge of but don't know it.

My family members read this book and confirmed that Garrett had absolutely pegged people like me. It's as if he personally interviewed me to write this book. There was almost no page that did not apply to me.

If you're the risk taking, adventurous sort; if you find what most feel is comfortable to be annoying as hell; if you have set higher standards for yourself but can't seem to find how to fulfill them, then buy this book!

  3. I love this book. I finally feel like there are actually liked minded people out there! Great insight.

  4. I'm not one to leave verbose feedback - especially about a book. However, the book describes someone like me with uncanny accuracy. I've always joked that I have ADD. What I learned though, was that ADD is more than just being distractable. It is also about the tendencies to "think outside of the box", look for faster solutions, different approaches, and in general, how ADD people are "different" from societal norms.

What attracted me to this book is its premise that ADD types are "different", not broken. It endorses the Hunter/Farmer theme espoused by Thom Hartman.

While the book does not compare ADD to Myers Briggs, I suspect there is a correlation between ADD and such Myers Briggs types of ENFP, ENFJ, etc. I say this as I've done Myers Briggs profiling and am an ENFP. The description to this is very similar to ADD traits. So, I am curious.

I highly recommend the book if for nothing more than its elaborations on what characteristics a person with ADD has.

  5. This is a great book to help adults and parents of children who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, realise their true potential and channel their energy in a positive way using the gift they have, which is often described by the medical profession as a disorder!

5 comments about ADHD & Me: What I Learned from Lighting Fires at the Dinner Table.
  1. This is a great book! It is very down to earth and informative. I'm a clinical psychologist and also have ADHD, so I'm always on the lookout for books to give people who are trying to understand and deal with this disorder. I will definitely be recommending this one.

  2. A powerful story told by an exceptionally bright and thoughtful 17 year old. I gave it to my 17 year old who was recently diagnosed with mild ADHD and he didn't move for two hours he was so engrossed in Blake's journey and lessons learned. I bought 10 copies and gave them to the learning specialists, principal and president at my son's high school. In addition, my entire family read the book. As a result, we have a new vocabulary in which to address the behaviors and issues that come up with this common condition. Thanks for sharing your world Blake! It has made such a positive impact on us and many others.

  3. Blake.E.S.Taylor is such a sophisticated young man, isn't he? I wasn't smart enough to tell you my ADHD logically based on my experiences when I was his age, and I am still not! And most of the symptoms written in his book are quite similar to my childhood. I could have clearly shown you the strategies not only on ADHD but also developmental disabilities like him if I had been diagnosed with ADHD and PDD(=Pervasive Developmental Disorder) earlier. I didn't know anything about developmental disabilities when I was younger. Besides, even in my college days, I couldn't eliminate my impulsiveness and hyperactivity, which often stood out in my English classes given by English-speaking teachers. One day I mumbled,"Jesus."during my class so nobody noticed it, because I was very cranky and stressed. However, the teacher recognized and blew up,"If you swear, please leave! I have to be strict on that and I'm pretty serious." I got so stunned that I had no choice but to apologize to him. How embarrassed! He implicitly told me how to learn from such a big mistake, though...
Anyway, Blake couldn't have written ADHD & Me: What I Learned from Lighting Fires at the Dinner Table, if he was less mature. Even though his ADHD still remains, I'm sure his experiences will reinforce the strategies to tackle ADHD!

  4. This book is amazing, so much wisdom from someone so young and with a disability such as ADHD. Blake has become an inspiration to both me and my son who has ADHD and is struggling with social skills in school. I would highly recommend this book to all children, adults, teachers, parents who has someone with ADHD. For we already know what remarkable and speacial people we have.

  5. I provide therapy to children with ADHD and their families. This book is extremely helpful in allowing parents to understand why their children sometimes act the ways they do. It is also something that parents can read with their children so they communicate with one another about the symptoms of ADHD. This allows other children with ADHD to see that they are not alone in their experience and to understand that there is a reason why they feel they way they do.

5 comments about Flipping the Switch...: Unleash the Power of Personal Accountability Using the QBQ!.
  1. I used this book for our annual staff retreat. It is great for employee development of personal accountability. This book has made a difference in the lives of my employees and subsequently in the culture of our company!

  2. I think the book is so great that I purchased several copies for my employees to help them see what I saw...personal responsibility starts with ME! This books teaches you how to practically apply "giving" and "serving." It's about ME. I also think our politicians should read this book to learn what REAL personal responsibility is so that they can stop blaming the government for not doing enough.

I'm responsible. It's about me. I change! It's not about them. It's MY life and I can change.

  3. I liked the first book and it really got me thinking of all those IQ's in my life and how to get rid of them. I think I expected the same thing with this book but for whatever reason I came away feeling let down. It just seemed like less substance than the first and more of a fluff of highlights while trying to cling on to book 1. NOT a bad read but not as inspiring as the first.

  4. Flipping the switch is a very enjoyable read in which the author John Miller is basically asking the question: Would you rather be part of the problem or the solution? To be part of the solution, all it takes, according to him, is a shift in perspective. Instead of asking "why me?" switch to "what can I do?". It is a simple shift, which takes you from the victim's chair into the driver's seat and allows you to experience satisfaction and transformation in all areas of your life.

In this respect the book reminded me very much of the work of Ariel and Shya Kane Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation , How To Create a Magical Relationship and Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. The Kanes also present the idea that a shift in perspective can transform your life instantaneously and take you from the realm of working on yourself and thinking, to the realm of being yourself and being enlightened. Instantaneous Transformation is accessible when you flip the switch and choose to be present in the moment rather than lost in your thoughts.

I highly recommend both the work of John Miller and Ariel and Shya Kane to anybody looking to live a "bright" life!

  5. Flipping the Switch is a great follow up to QBQ. The concept of QBQ is great but to really make it a core value, it takes follow up and understanding on the part of the leaders. This book helps leaders to understand what is needed to make personal accountability a core value. It is a little more to think about than QBQ, but very helpful. It will be part of the whole package of personal accountability for me.

5 comments about Eliminating Stress, Finding Inner Peace.
  1. "Eliminating Stress, Finding Inner Peace" must be one of the best relaxation/self-healing CDs. Since I started using it I stopped smoking, became a vegan, stopped drinking coffee and started exercising daily. I use this CD 3-4 times a week and I wouldn't want to be without it. Don't hesitate to purchase it!

  2. i found the book to be good, but the things spoken about where at least, for me, obvious...things i already knew about stress and how to eliminate it; but, the cd which comes with the book makes the book worth buying

  3. Although the book was a quick read, it was packed with solid information. The CD was even better! To date, I have yet to go as deep in my meditation practice as with Dr. Weiss's CD. This little package is a gem and worth every cent. Enjoy!

  4. This was easy to read and very helpful. The CD was relaxing. I will have to use it a number of times before I get the maximum benefit. Like everything else, you get what you put into it. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to eliminate stress and find inner peace. However, this book will provide you with all of the information and tools you need to do it, but YOU have to do it! A very pleasant read.

  5. This book helps bring the day to day stressors of life into a healthy perspective. It explains stress in a concrete manner and includes ways to increase strategies to handle stress and find inner peace. The CD with the meditation/guided imagery is extremely relaxing and helpful.

5 comments about Depression-Free, Naturally: 7 Weeks to Eliminating Anxiety, Despair, Fatigue, and Anger from Your Life.
  1. The book is very interesting and certainly has merit. Most of the diet recommendations would not work for me because of dairy, cholesterol, sugar, and arthritis issues.

If the author could find a diet that more people could be on or more choices in the diet, I might have followed it.

I did take the time to fill out the questions, and found the results interesting. Worth getting the book, just for this.

  2. depression can be enourmously helped with a comprehensive program primarily with nutrition, psychological and family support as well as other good therapies. This book takes care of the first part in a step by step program easy to follow. Handfulls of pill are a challenge but if you want results, by all means try it, we did and are glad.
    BG

  3. This book is based off of truthful and real information about handling depression naturally. The approach to using vitamins and amino acids is honest and in my opinion would put a lot of psychriatists out of business. I feel blessed to have read this book and followed the principles to the letter. My doctor agrees with the vitamin regimen 100%. For a person who can discipline themself to take more vitamins on the regular basis throughout their lives then this is the right book for you. To Dr. Larson all I can say is thank you for writing this wonderful book and you have done an excellent service to people who want to overcome depression, anxiety and any other mood disorders naturally.

  4. What she says in this book works. That all I'm saying. It has worked for me personally, and has worked for two other people that I know, helping them feel better just by doing the mega-doses of Omega 3. You don't have to buy all the expensive vitamins that she sells in her propietary doses. You can approximate them and buy them much cheaper elsewhere.

  5. Yes... the book has a few hokey infomercial statements... However the bottom-line is... If you can be honest and truthful with yourself and follow the recommendations presented in this book, you can feel better naturally. In a nut shell, this book helps you to analyze your symptoms and provides you with various natural recipes (supplements/diet changes/exercise) to follow. For me... After several weeks of following the recommended recipes, I began to feel better. However - my journey was not easy... it was not quick... But with dedication and perseverance, I am confident that this book will work for you too. It has been over a year since I bought and read this book and I continue to have loads of energy and zest for life. Please note that this energy comes from my diet, supplements, and exercise and not from any prescription drugs or short-term energy drinks/foods. Thanks you Dr. Joan Mathews Larson for helping me to understand why I was feeling like I did and providing me with the information and direction to rejuvenate my life - naturally.

5 comments about The Path to Love: Spiritual Strategies for Healing.
  1. I have a lot of books on love, maybe fifty! And this book is one of my favorites. Why? Because it outlines very clearly what love really is and stages love takes as you cultivate real love in your life.

    The stages include:

Romance (including attraction and infatuation), which we all know wheres off over time unless you work to keep it vital in a relationship. Attachment, which can become destructive if you do not know how to be attached in a healthy way.
Passion, which is different from romance in that Deepak feels passion is related to bringing out vitality in a relationship.
And, best of all ecstasy, which includes the ability to feel at-one not only with your partner, but all of life.

Lots of practical exercises also exist. If you want to know what love really looks and feels like, consider buying this book. - Dr. Lisa Love, Beyond the Secret

  2. This book was an eye-opener. After reading it for the first time, I picked it right back up immediately and read it for a second time.

I found it to be a didactic approach to matters of the heart and soul which were pre-conceived to me an un-explainable.

Read it before you fall in love again. Recommend it to your loved ones. Thanks Dave for "lending" it to me.

    -Richie Etwaru

  3. "Loving another person is not separate from loving God. One is a single wave, the other is the ocean." ~ Deepak Chopra

In "The Path to Love," Deepak Chopra blends modern day wisdom with ancient insight and myths. This is a reflective study of love's many stages (from romantic love to spiritual love) and as Deepak reveals the many nuances he also explains the spiritual goal of life. This book uncovers the reasons love is healing while anger and hate can be fatal.

There are quite a few case studies and the book is structured around stories of people struggling with everything from marital issues to questions about reality itself. Deepak acts as a psychologist who is solving issues one after the other. His clients have breakthroughs and each conversation reveals something new.

"Love and spirit are forming a connection every time you meditate on the heart, starting with the first time." ~ Deepak Chopra

For the most part this book reads like a comforting conversation with a trusted friend. There are instructions for a heart meditation. Then, a few questionnaires are included for your enlightenment. While this is not technically a workbook, it could be said that the contents of the book will change you as you answer the questions and discover hidden secrets about yourself.

    ~The Rebecca Review

  4. This bringme to me the lover that i have today. My love in all forms, how beautiful is love expansion from pratices exercicies of this big gift to the world.

  5. Once I started this book,I simply couldn't put it down. It unfolds so many hidden layers of self. In turn allowing us a different view of approaching others. Chopra has a gift of making the very deep and personal an easy fun adventure

5 comments about The Energy of Money: A Spiritual Guide to Financial and Personal Fulfillment.
  1. I read this book ast part of a group, and all five of us agreed it was one of the worse books we've ever read. Here are two problems:

    1. It's written for "the lowest common denominator" of people who haven't really given thought to their money before.

    2. It's a slow read. The writing is full of the author's newly-coined terms that read like a college thesis.

After reading the first half of the book I started skimming the rest. It was painful to turn the pages.

  2. I found this a very refreshing concept. We grow up being told that money does not grow on trees and with many other negative connotation about money including misquotes from the bible where "the LOVE of money is the root of evil" but we are told that 'Money is the root of evil' which is a complete misrepresentation.
It is SO refreshing to think of money as a form of energy and made to go around. Money is the energy needed if we are to do what we were put on this earth to do and we need to get over our hangups and be positive about how we use this wonderful form of energy.
Jean Cannon, It is EASY to Green your Business AND Increase Your Profits
    [...]

  3. This book has opened my eyes to so much!
Not just money wise, but LIFE wise.
What a great tool to buy for someone struggling with life.

  4. The book might be excellent to those teaching their children about money (i.e., for one's children, not for anyone over, say 15). It is not necessarily bad material, but poorly edited and in any case, frustratingly basic.

One of those books where the title grabs you, but the content disappoints immediately. Slooooow reading that calls for an editor. Overly simplistic to a thinking audience looking at the abstract/psychological/behavioral aspects of money/wealth.

A sample: "Imagine if a laser beam wasn't bouncing all over the obstacles and could get right to the heart of the matter, that would be using your money energy efficiently, consciously, and powerfully...You will clear away many of the boulders that have been in your path...When you and I have an idea and begin to take it into physical reality, there is an incredible shift in the energy that it takes" For an adult, this is tiring to read.

Better alternatives are "wealthy and wise" or "everyday irrationality", "hooked" , "the high price of materialism", "my vast fortune", or perhaps more analogous is "creating affluence". This genre demands a good book.

  5. Marie Nemeth takes a subject most of us would prefer to avoid and takes us on an adventure to discover how to consciously direct our money towards what we care about most. I found this book engaging, practical, wise, insightful, and clear. One chapter after the next delivers the goods--with excellent questions at the end of each chapter to cement the learning. The chapter on "Scarcity Is One of Your Greatest Teachers" and the Forgiveness exercise alone would be worth every penny! Who wouldn't benefit from having a more conscious relationship with their money! This would be an excellent book study book. The Energy of Money: A Spiritual Guide to Financial and Personal FulfillmentMastering Life's Energies: Simple Steps to a Luminous Life at Work and Play

5 comments about The Multi-Orgasmic Couple: Sexual Secrets Every Couple Should Know.
  1. The best way I can sum up what this book has done for my sex life is- Paradigm shift. It opened my eyes to how important making time for sex really is. As a woman sometimes I suppress my sexual desires because I feel they are frivolous at certain times and believe that I should be getting more practical things taken care of. This book helped me to see that sex is very healing and necessary way for married couples to connect on a deeper spiritual level. My husband has not read the book however, my state of arousal and just reading for myself has helped him achieve multiple orgasm and we have found new ways for me to achieve orgasms as well. I recommend this book highly.

  2. I bought this book after practicing some techniques for multiple orgasm by Dr Newman K. Lin. These techniques are fantastic and workable. I bought this book to get into more detail about the taoist method in cycling the energy inside the body, and have multiple orgasm for men. I did read multiple orgasm for men and microcosmic orbit, and I found that microcosmic orbit is fantastic. It is workable but needs a lot of training. You need to be patient and try many times to reach there and see the light at the end of the tunnel. My concern is only contracting the PC muscle will trigger ejaculation, however you should contract the tailbone muscle instead. According to Dr. Lin these techniques will require 3 to 12 months to practice perfectly. According also to Mantak Chia, you may experience a small orgasm in the begining which is not comparable with the ejaculatory orgasm, but onwords these orgamsic waves will be intensifed and you will have a lot of pleasure. You will not need to ejaculate a lot, but what you will need is to have many orgasms. Incorporating this energy with intercourse and extract the female energy will give you soul orgasm and full body orgasm which you will never forget.
Beleive in yourself and beleive of the power of Allah which given to you and by pateience you will succeed.

Thanks for all people who helped us to see things from different angle.

  3. Discover how to have multiple whole-body orgasms and how to reach ever more fulfilling levels of intimacy and ecstasy together.

  4. As sex and intimacy coaches we recommend this book to couples and individuals in our practice and list it as one of the many resources on our website. While the focus on Eastern spiritual teachings may make the bookslightly less accessible to the general reader, the information contained in it has proven helpful to men and women who want to learn the art of multi-orgasm.

  5. I found this a wonderful book, although I have been able only to scratch the surface of what it claims to be able to teach a man. The emphasis on non-ejaculation is very valuable, even though I have never come close to the whole-body, non-ejaculatory orgasms said to be possible. I was, however, lucky enough to find a woman who could enter an orgasmic state with my staying erect and right with her for the better part of an hour.

4 comments about Just Who Will You Be CD.
  1. The name of the book is "Just Who Will You Be?" and the cover art is a balloon, but honestly doesn't that balloon look more like a sperm cell than a balloon. How absolutely appropriate for a book about commencement, about who you will become, a sex cell may be the last time that those questions are still unanswered.

  2. I donated this cd to the local community college's Adult Education program! It's a wonderful short piece that can change a life!

  3. This is a wonderful thought provoking, life altering CD narrated by Maria Shriver herself. I was never a fan of Mrs. Shriver when she was a news anchor. She is a wonderfully articulate author and narrator. Mrs. Shriver asks as always the relevant questions necessary to get one thinking!

  4. Enthusiasm for all. She's found the "You" for her to be and you will discover your "You". Enjoy this must read. She is such a wonderful person to encourage us all to at least "think" and "do". Inspiring to say the least. Be yourself!!!
