  1. I am almost finished reading this book and it is amazing! I am familiar with "The Secret" and other positive thinking books. But this book just takes everything to another level! The Meditations are on a CD by Kelly Howell. I actually purchased the CD before I knew anything about this book! I think it is best to have both! Yes, I can say I have noticed a difference in my life.
    Manifestation seems to be happening at a faster rate, sometimes that is a little freaky! Wow! The power of our own thoughts! Believe in your own creative genius!

  2. I have been reading this book for over fifty years, I am reading it again this week! It is the Bible of my basic philosophy of life. Read it, study it, absorb it, meditate on its wisdom; IT Will Change Your Life, If You Are open and Willing!

  3. U S Anderson book is one of the best I have read. I have read many of the modern mystics and in this field he is one of the pioneers. Although written in the 50's, the authors message is timeless. This is the classic spiritual self help book. Worth every cent and the meditations at the end of each chapter really help improve your thoughts.
    Highly recommended!!!

  4. This book was written long before all the recent " Law of Attraction " books came out. The author was a visionary, remarkably far ahead of his time. He says it all in clear concise chapters that anyone can understand. I will read this book again and again.

  5. Inspiring, motivating and exciting. This book is for everyone who wants to improve their life.

5 comments about The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: Complete and Unabridged.
  1. This is the most important book I have ever read! After watching "The Secret" I wanted to learn how to put the LOA (Laws of Attraction) into action.

    I originally purchased "The Power of Positive Thinking" but could not get through it due to the excessive preaching that God is the only answer to happiness. I returned to the book store and discovered "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind." It was EXACTLY what I wanted. While Dr. Murphy is a deeply religious man, he does an excellent job without preaching!

    I have recommended this book to just about everyone I know and a lot I don't that could use its teachings.

    In addition to purchasing this book, I also recommend learning about EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). You can find examples of it on YouTube.

  2. I am enjoying reading this book and also getting positive result by doing some practical exercises.My life has been changed completely.I wish to give this book to all my near and dear ones. Every body should read this book,Ones you change your thoughts, your attitude, success is yours. All religions are teaching the same ideas, but the beauty of this book is its simple and understanding language.

  3. There's a story in this book about a boy who was sick and nearly dying. Dr. Joseph Murray then claims that HE came up with this quote for the boy to repeat to heal himself. The quote is this "I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy". Funny thing, I was just reading "The Master Key System" By Charles Haanel written somewhere around 1912 and found that EXACT same quote in this book. I proceeded to look for author plagerized quotes from the Master Key system and found countless ones which convinced me that the author is deceitful and untrustworhty. The reason he got away with it is that the Master Key System was almost impossible to find back when this book was written, so nobody could cross check the source. I have no problems with an author using material from another book as long as they cite the source and abstain from claiming all of the credit. The irony is that Dr. Murray always gives himself credit for coming up with these brilliant ideas and quotes. This is nothing but a dumbed down version of the Master Key System with silly fictitious stories thrown in to the mix. Get the Master Key System, it has much more substance and truth.

  4. Let this be your first text in your study of your Subconscious powers!

    This is a well written, concise and valuable collection to your library. Whether you are studying your Subconscious, wealth and prosperity, health, spirituality, or relationships this classic book is a must read.

    The Power of Your Subconscious Mind clearly shows how and why the Subconscious is the real "SECRET" and power of the universe.

    Learn the differences between your conscious and subconscious minds, how to get your subconscious to work for you, how to eliminate negative thoughts and beliefs, why and how it can create wealth and health for you, and much much more.

    Read it now, right NOW! and be sure to mark it up!

  5. Read this book cover to cover nine times, and my reading habits
    are typically read three chapters and then start browsing the book.

    I recently bought an updated copy for my niece who I love dearly.
    She read it and yellow lined parts of the book. That is pretty good
    review for her.

  1. I always enjoy listening to Dr. Kabat-Zinn. This CD presents a a very good reason to try mindful meditation. Kabat-Zinn has a very pleasing voice with easy concepts to relate to. If you are looking for actual meditations this is not the CD for you, but he definitely gives you a good place to start the practice of meditation with the breath. Highly recommend.

  2. I've purchased a few meditation recordings over the years. This one is by far the most helpful. I've used it for myself and in groups. It is excellent.

  3. Very good stuff. It reminds all of us how important it is to stay centered and balanced. It's helped me to begin embracing the moments of change in my own life rather than fighting against them.

  4. I am new to meditation, but I found this to be very helpful. His voice is very soothing and the information very helpful. I loved it!

  5. received everything on time. the cd wasn't as good as i expected but the service was awesome!!! good quality products.

5 comments about Glimpses of Heaven: True Stories of Hope and Peace at the End of Life's Journey.
  1. We thought so much of this book we are going to order ten more copies. My faith in an afterlife has been renewed by "Glimpses of Heaven

  2. An excellent and uplifting account of end-of-life experiences. For anyone who has lost a loved one, or is fearful of facing their own death this book will seriously help to calm those fears.

  3. Thanks to Trudy Harris for sharing her very personal walk with God! Her generous spirit has allowed the reader of her book to experience what only a very special few have the opportunity to experience, God's mercy and love so freely given to us at our time of joining with Him.
    She has changed that moment of joining from apprehension to one of loving acceptance.

  4. "Glimpses of Heaven" is a tender and inviting book that will be deeply encouraging to people of all ages and all walks of life. Broken up into 44 short stories--it gives readers an inside look into the final days of those who are dying.

    The stories are varied--everything from the dying experience of toddlers, to the last days of middle aged people, to the lingering deaths of the very old. One story tells about forty-seven year old Mark, a man dying of pancreatic cancer. Harris tells that in his very last moments "suddenly his eyes opened wide, and, sitting up in bed under his own strength with arms raised in the air and a big smile, he said, `There it is. I can see it. It's beautiful.' And lying back down he took his last breath and died." Another story tells us of Lenora, a fifty-four year old woman who is dying of a brain tumor and her encounter with an angel a few days before her death.

    The genuine faith of the author shines through "Glimpses of Heaven" from cover to cover and I was inspired, instructed, and even convicted by her childlike faith and unwavering love toward her fellow man. It's not just a book about what happens right before someone dies--it's also almost an instruction manual for those caring for the terminally ill. "Glimpses of Heaven" is touching, amusing, hopeful, and above all else comforting.

  5. Glimpses of Heaven gave me insight into my own immortality and while reading I could not put the book down, I took this book everywhere I traveled. The stories are awe inspiring and waiting to be read by all.
    I recommend this book to people that have a curiosity for the ending of life and the beginning of death. This is a journey we all must face and Glimpses of Heaven made me feel comfortable. When my time comes I pray I have someone like Trudy Harris, RN to guide me to that place.

  1. Cheri Huber has put into a clear, understandable book everything I've been trying to teach my psychotherapy clients. It's one of the books I've been recommending on a regular basis ever since I read it. It includes terrific information and motivational, workable suggestions for letting go of your destructive, self-limiting inner dialogue. Pamela D. Blair, Author The Next Fifty Years: A Guide for Women at Mid-Life And Beyond

  2. Cheri Huber has a small masterpiece in this gem of a book. Unlike many self-help books I've read, Ms. Huber doesn't use it to grandstand, nor does she get bogged down in minutiae. The message is simple, clear, yet incredibly powerful.

  3. This book along with BEING ZEN by Ezra Bayda, FREE YOUR MIND by Anthony Stultz and BIG MIND by Dennis Merzel-represent the best of new teachers of
    mindfulness in daily life. They offer us fresh and innovative perspectives on old teachings. You cannot go wrong-they will help you to change your life!

  4. This is another of Cheri Huber's practical books on how to live with Yourself. Free of religious and Diagnostic clutter, it offers a viewpoint which can alleviate the guilt so often encountered in one's search for happiness.

    The premise that "nothing needs to be fixed" is almost completely missing in contemporary Psychology because of Medicine and Psychiatry's dogma of "Diagnosis First, Treatment afterwards".

    There are many copies of Huber's books in my office lending-library, and my patients have usually found her style and viewpoint refreshing and useful.

    Dorje

  5. I have struggled with a strong Inner Critic for a very long time when I found this book. It is simple and straight forward and has been immensely helpful in breaking the pattern with my Critic. I have read it numerous times and keep returning to it for reminders and support. I highly recommend it to anyone who struggles with low self-esteem. It is not you. There is nothing wrong with you. This book will help you come to realize that Truth. Cheri's explanations are clear, understandable and based on deep knowing. I am grateful for her teachings. I have read Cheri's Fear Book and listened to her CD course Unconditional Self-Acceptance. All were helpful in breaking patterns of conditioning that keep me in bondage. Highly beneficial work!

5 comments about Coping with Difficult People: The Proven-Effective Battle Plan That Has Helped Millions Deal with the Troublemakers in Their Lives at Home and at Work.
  1. The concept of this book is good. You can't change other people, and you can't always avoid them. The most realistic option is to have some coping strategies. I think the author outlined them well. I gave the book three stars, though, because the reading got to be tedious and boring. I've read similar books that are more enjoyable, either because you can identify the different personality type with humor, or because they explained the personalities more realistically with better situational examples. This book seemed a little dry.

  2. I thought the parts of this book that described some of the different, difficult personalities was very good. I actually really thought it had something to offer and the strategies were practical. The insights though didn't stick and I think that you have to read this regularly to keep reminding yourself that all these people exist in the world (including you) and you are going to see them every day. Thats kind of a depressing thought actually. With all the other books I need to keep reading to remind myself about various insights I want to stay home.

  3. Read about the different types of people in the world today, and find out ways to deal with difficult personalities.

  4. There are some other books out there on the same subject. Some, like "Toxic Coworkers," may do the job even better. But this is still a useful volume. As the Introduction notes (page 1): "This is a book about impossible people and how to cope with them." Coping is the center of this work--how to deal with workers who are difficult to work with. The idea? (Page 7): "Coping enables you and the Difficult Person to get on with the business at hand." "Win-win" is the goal. Is the advice useful? Each reader will have to decide for him/herself?

    The book describes a variety of difficult types: hostile-aggressive, the complainer, unresponsive ones, wonderfully nice people who don't perform, the negativist, know-it-alls, and indecisive stallers. For each, the author describes the malady and then suggests how one might work with them to get the best out of them. The book closes, also, with ideas as to how one can manage one's own "defensive behavior" around such problem workers. The author concludes (page 214): ". . .many people just like you have found that coping effectively with difficult people is possible."

    Final question: How well does the book succeed? Not bad, but the solutions will not convince all readers.

  5. For the first time I am reviewing a book that I did not completely read. In fact, I read only the first two chapters. But at the time--several years ago, those were the only chapters I needed. Robert M. Bramson, management consultant, found that the number one problem in all the businesses he worked with was people trying to cope with difficult people. So he wrote this book.

    He identifies six types of difficult people:
    Hostile-aggressives: those who bully and throw tantrums to get their way;
    Complainers: those who gripe incessantly but do nothing to change things;
    Super-Agreeables: those who are supportive and agreeable but fail to follow through;
    Silent and Unresponsives: those who respond to every question with yep, no, or a grunt;
    Negativists: those who deflate any optimism you have;
    Know-It-All Experts: those who know everything about anything worth knowing-- their goal is to make you feel worthless;
    Indecisives: those who stall major decisions until they are made for them, often causing loss of jobs and opportunities.

    The problem I had to work with was the Hostile-Agressive, of which there are three types: the Sherman Tank, the Sniper, and the Exploder. The Sniper makes deeply cutting comments under the guise of humor so that the victim is always slightly off-balance. Was it a joke or not? The Sherman Tank bullies verbally and physically if necessary to see that things go his way. He can be very intimidating. The Exploder is frightening in his vociferous behavior. Of the three the Exploder is the only one who cannot be persuaded to calm down. The victim must wait for that.

    The husband, now ex-husband, was the Exploder and also a Complainer, Negativist, and a Know-It-All. The most difficult to deal with is the Exploder. Once he started, his temper and voice became louder and louder. The first step in dealing with this behavior is to get their attention by saying STOP! Stop!. That never worked for me. I thought surely if I break into his monolog he would stop and listen to me. He just got louder and louder. If I yelled, he yelled louder. If I talked, he demanded that I stop sassing him.

    The method that always worked for me was to allow him time to calm down. The best way for him to achieve that calmness was that I leave the house. I would drive around for at least 30 minutes, then return home. He was always over his tantrum and usually friendly. He never apologized for anything (it was ALWAYS my fault). We would just start talking again as if nothing had happened. The big deal is that this method worked every time. He needed to be away from interaction with other people until his anger faded.

    I have recommended this book to a number of people over the years and tout its efficacy in working with difficult people, especially the Exploders.

  1. We have watched Joyce Meyer's weekly (Mon-Fri) program for a few years now and overall find her to be a very good practical teacher on how Scripture corresponds with daily life issues. The product is formatted well and is designed to partner with her book of the same title. A worthwhile topic!

  2. I purchased this for a bible study at my church and have been reasonably happy with it. I don't totally agree with some of her concepts, but the general idea is definitely worthwhile.

    A must for those who have the "I can't believe I said that!" moments!

  3. There are few books that I have read more than once, and this is one that merits not only reading more than once, but in having it on hand for a constant reminder. It could not have had a more appropriate title. It catches the eye then captures the heart and soul of anyone who feels (or can fianally admit..because many of us do) they have a problem with their mouth. It also gives them hope that they are not doomed to the self excuse of "well, that's just the way I am. I tell people what I think and people admire me for it". Uh....no they don't. Once you discover that you don't always have to win, your life becomes so much more peaceful. This book has helped me very much to begin that process. I try now, not to let every thought work like a gumball machine....from the brain to the tounge then out of the mouth. I now think very hard about what I say, first. And, because of that I see now I don't always have to open my mouth. I've had some painful withdrawal episodes in the process, but it has been worth it. I like myself better, now. This book has truly been a God send. Thank you.

  4. Great book, it was very informative and OH! so very true. Joyce Meyer is the greatest. A very profound visionary.

  5. Joyce Meyer tells it straight and to the point...one never has to question what she is trying to say. If you are looking for insight, direction...and for your eyes to be opened - start with "Me and My Big Mouth". {Oh, how it gets us into trouble!}

5 comments about Reclaiming Desire: 4 Keys to Finding Your Lost Libido.
  1. Reclaiming Desire is a gift to women who have lost their libido. Doctors Goldstein and Brandon have created a beautifully-written, comprehensive, empowering and compassionate book, and one I recommend wholeheartedly to my patients. It deals with women's low sexual desire in unusual depth, and in a remarkably balanced way---encompassing the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual aspects of womens' sexuality.If you still love your partner and your relationship and you still want to bond, but your sex drive has vanished, this is the best book you could ever read.

    Reclaiming Desire is the thinking woman's antidote to helplessness. It gives you the guidemap to pinpoint what is wrong, the courage to take responsibility for your part, the voice of a wise, ingenious, loving guide to cheer you on, and all the strategies you will need to change your libido. The chapter on the "Miracle of Motherhood" is a masterpiece. It should be required reading for all parents-to-be, and the professionals who take care of them.

    This is a fabulous book and a first-rate contribution to the literature on women and sexuality.

    Aline Zoldbrod Ph.D.
    AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Diplomate in Sex Therapy,
    Psychologist and Couples Therapist
    Author, Sex Smart: How Your Childhood Shaped Your Sexual Life and What To Do About It, and co-author, Sex Talk: Uncensored Exercises for Exploring What Really Turns You On.

  2. Written for women, "Reclaiming Desire" explores why sexual desire fades and what can be done to bring it back. Authors Andrew Goldstein, M.D. and Marianne Brandon, Ph.D., the founders of the Sexual Wellness Center in Annapolis, Maryland, claim that there are four keys to reclaiming this desire. These keys are good physical health, being emotional resilient, being intellectually fulfilled, and having spiritual contentment.

    We all go through various life changes, any one of which can affect the libido. The authors look at many of these changes and how they affect your sex drive as well as what can be done to reduce or eliminate that effect. Each of their four keys is examined in detail including not only how things like hormones, depression, anxiety, stress, menopause and other factors affect your drive but also exploring how to lessen those effects. They do a good job of exposing various myths and misconceptions as well as detailing what works and what does not. With today's focus on natural health options they even include information on how exercise and other natural options can be used.

    Throughout the book two messages are clear - you are not alone and there is hope. "Reclaiming Desire" is highly recommended to any woman suffering from a declining libido who wants to reclaim that portion of their relationship as part of their life.

  3. It is a good book but it goes into too much detail about things. I would recommend for woman who need to understand how their body works.

  4. This book was very helpful to me, especially the emotional section. I would suggest it to anyone that has had sexual trauma in the past and is still trying to cope with trusting another.

  5. I have only made it through the first few chapters, but this book has already helped. I'm a recenlty married 26 year old, but because I have Hashimoto's Disease (low thyroid) I was stuggling with a low libido. My husband was trying to be very understanding, but it was difficult being that we have only been married a little over a year. This book helped me stop feeling so stressed out, and reminded me I needed to take time for myself. Once I started paying attention to myself and my own needs, I found my problems with low libido start to dissapear. I recommend this book for anyone stuggling with low libido. You aren't alone, and this book offers much needed support to help you get your libido back where it should be.

5 comments about The Path to Love: Spiritual Strategies for Healing.
  1. I have a lot of books on love, maybe fifty! And this book is one of my favorites. Why? Because it outlines very clearly what love really is and stages love takes as you cultivate real love in your life.

    The stages include:

    Romance (including attraction and infatuation), which we all know wheres off over time unless you work to keep it vital in a relationship. Attachment, which can become destructive if you do not know how to be attached in a healthy way.
    Passion, which is different from romance in that Deepak feels passion is related to bringing out vitality in a relationship.
    And, best of all ecstasy, which includes the ability to feel at-one not only with your partner, but all of life.

    Lots of practical exercises also exist. If you want to know what love really looks and feels like, consider buying this book. - Dr. Lisa Love, Beyond the Secret

  2. This book was an eye-opener. After reading it for the first time, I picked it right back up immediately and read it for a second time.

    I found it to be a didactic approach to matters of the heart and soul which were pre-conceived to me an un-explainable.

    Read it before you fall in love again. Recommend it to your loved ones. Thanks Dave for "lending" it to me.

    -Richie Etwaru

  3. "Loving another person is not separate from loving God. One is a single wave, the other is the ocean." ~ Deepak Chopra

    In "The Path to Love," Deepak Chopra blends modern day wisdom with ancient insight and myths. This is a reflective study of love's many stages (from romantic love to spiritual love) and as Deepak reveals the many nuances he also explains the spiritual goal of life. This book uncovers the reasons love is healing while anger and hate can be fatal.

    There are quite a few case studies and the book is structured around stories of people struggling with everything from marital issues to questions about reality itself. Deepak acts as a psychologist who is solving issues one after the other. His clients have breakthroughs and each conversation reveals something new.

    "Love and spirit are forming a connection every time you meditate on the heart, starting with the first time." ~ Deepak Chopra

    For the most part this book reads like a comforting conversation with a trusted friend. There are instructions for a heart meditation. Then, a few questionnaires are included for your enlightenment. While this is not technically a workbook, it could be said that the contents of the book will change you as you answer the questions and discover hidden secrets about yourself.

    ~The Rebecca Review

  4. This bringme to me the lover that i have today. My love in all forms, how beautiful is love expansion from pratices exercicies of this big gift to the world.

  5. Once I started this book,I simply couldn't put it down. It unfolds so many hidden layers of self. In turn allowing us a different view of approaching others. Chopra has a gift of making the very deep and personal an easy fun adventure

5 comments about Making a Change for Good: A Guide to Compassionate Self-Discipline.
  1. If your life needs a change, you dont have the budget for psychotherapy, and you don't have time to sit down and read a long complicated book, this may be a big help to you. I was able to pick up some ideas and use them immediately. A shift in my perception became simple, and quick to produce results. Some of our lives are too hectic to become a guru. We just need positive changes that will last. You could do this on your lunch break.

  2. Awesome, awesome book - such an easy read, but packed full of tremendous life altering tips. Cheri Huber is an amazing author.

  3. Good little book to help jump start change.Making a Change for Good: A Guide to Compassionate Self-Discipline

  4. whose life is a testament to the fundamental value of compassionate self-discipline AND self-acceptance. That's How the Light Gets In: Memoir of a Psychiatrist by Susan Rako, M.D. takes its title from a song by Leonard Cohen: "There is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." Rako's book is fascinating, remarkably candid, and wonderfully well-written. It is a great read. The writing just flows.

  5. I'm an introspective person; I think a lot about the meaning of life, human interactions, etc. and have done extensive reading to help me understand myself and others. I was disappointed with this book. I thought it covered pretty basic stuff. It might be a fine book for a younger person, or someone who has never been very introspective, but it was nearly worthless for me.

    Specifically, she covers conditioning, defenses, our inner voices (the critic, the nurturer, etc.), roles (the helper, the bad one, the smart one, etc.), self-hate, and she outlines "exercises" such as awareness exercises, meditation and journaling ("daily reviews") to help sort things out. This is stuff I did in high school and I'm in my fifties now.

    I also found the font distracting; it's printed in a font that mimics hand printing, which gives it a cutesy touch and I HATE CUTESY. That's just a personal preference, some may like it.

    Bottom line: save your money unless you really have never had a deep thought before and think you'd like to start now. I'm giving it two stars (as opposed to something less) because it really would be a good beginner book for personal growth for the right person.
