  1. Clinton's book is for anyone who has experienced pain and loneliness--and lives with the ongoing consequences. It is also for people who keep themselves so busy that they don't have time to feel, because in a small still place within their minds, they fear the negative feelings that they would experience.

Several themes weave themselves throughout the book. One is what I would call the stages of alienation and addiction, combined with the cycle of restoration. It is both a downward and upward spiral that looks like this:

Losing heart: the Descent into Pain
Ambushed and assaulted, Anger, Anxiety, Alonenes, Alienation, Arrogance, Adulteries of the Heart and Addiction

Alive Again! Accountability, Action, Attachments, Awareness, Assessment , Affection of God

Recovery of the Heart: Coming Out of Pain

This is not your typical self-help book, nor even your typical Christian self-help book. For the reader who is willing to look in the mirror there is specific, meaningful help.

    His food for thought:

"What are your biggest fears? Failure? Being seen as less than perfect? Losing a position? Losing a loved one? Abandonment? Fear of others hurting you?"

"When we live with unsatisfied souls, we will pour almost anything into them to appease our hunger."

"Spouses and parents, for instance, devote so much time and energy rushing from place to place that they don't devote time and effort to creating and preserving meaningful relationships..."

He echoes Robert McGee who said that the devil's definition of self worth is "My performance plus the opinion of others." And those who accept that lie are on the slippery slope toward alienation and addiction.

One final thought: He challenges you to: "Examine everything in your life that suddenly takes on huge meaning and begins to give you purpose, meaning, and value. If God isn't at the core and intimately involved with its pursuit, then you may be playing the lead in a tragedy. You are embracing the gods of distraction and your newfound "loves" will never satisfy you." And those distractions may be workaholism, drugs, alcohol, or any other false solution to a lack of relationship and connection--to God first, and then to each other.

This not a light read, but for those desiring a sense of connection and relationship, Clinton provides specific action steps to go from where you are to where you want to be.

Armchair Interviews says: This might just be a book your life needs.

  2. President of the American Association of Christian Counselors Dr. Tim Clinton presents Turn Your Life Around: Break Free From Your Past to a New and Better You, a Christian self-help guide to surviving the loss of a loved one by turning to the grace of God in the hour of one's deepest need. Chapters tell of the negative emotions such as anger, fear, alienation, and arrogance that can cause a soul to lose its way, and how to strengthen one's heart with love through connection to God, and the transcendental leap of converting good intentions into Godly action. "How do you press on when your legs get knocked out from underneath you and life just isn't the way it's supposed to be? You return to the relationship with the One who created you in the first place." A positively charged, spiritually strong guide to recovery through the power of faith.

  3. This is by far one of the most straight forward booksI have read on looking at your self to change your future. Tim Clinton has a way of making you look at yourself instead of blaming others, and when you can see yourself in almost every page of the book, you know someone has done their homework.I would and have recommended this book to a lot of people already. it is well worth the money.

  4. I am a Seminary student and was required to do a study on Tim Clinton. He is a super nice guy with a strong theological base. But he is an integrationist - meaning he mixes psychology and theology. He believes that he and his AACC are able to throw out the unbiblical psychological data and use information from psychology that is helpful. This sounds like a good plan but his methods are all about what psychologists think works and not the prescriptions written by the Creator of man. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says that all Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that every man will be equipped for every good work. Turn Your life around - is very empathetic to what a Christian may be going through but where is the Scripture? Most passages Clinton uses are more to prove his point than to show what the Word of God says about the particular issue. If you are looking for a book that helps you "feel better" then this is it though toward the end you can get a little nauseated with all the metaphors. But if you are looking for something that uses Scripture to help guide you back on the right track in your walk with the Lord - then I suggest something by Edward T. Welch, David Powlison, or Jerry Bridges.

  5. I have read this book, and there are few out there that really hit on every area of life (abandonment, addictions, relationships, self: all in respect to the Bible). It has a strong Biblical backing. I have read chapters over and over again, as they keep hitting cords with me. The best part is that I am younger (21+) but I can break cycles and generational curses in my life because of Christ. This is just a supplement that has shined light in the inner me.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to break from the norm. I have cleared out my library recently, but this is one of the books that I am keeping around and am passing this on to others who been through LIFE. I don't care if I get them back, as long as someone else is helped.

If you want, what I am doing, I check out books through the Library, then buy them on Amazon if I will read them more than once. Do yourself a favor, and check it out.

5 comments about The Anger Control Workbook.
  1. This workbook provides comprehensive and practical information for one of the greatest issues in our society today. It includes an explanation of the costs of anger, undertanding your anger, and a myriad of techniques to effectively control your anger including relaxation skills, Cognitive Behavioral skills, problem solving and much more. this book is a great resource for clinicinas working with anegr in theoir careers as well as those who desire a resource to help them explore and handle the anger that resides within them. Highly recommended.

  2. I've enjoyed Matthew McKay's other anger management books "When Anger Hurts" and especially "Being a Man: A Guide to the New Maculinity." -- the latter book changed the tenor of my life for which I am truly grateful.

"Being a Man" was an excellent book, and a precursor to this book "The Anger Control Workbook." And as the title says, it is a WORKBOOK. It incorporates ALL the suggestions made in the earlier books, provides an immediate set of exercises to use, and simplifies the process without having to "read" a lot of background material as you had to do with the earlier books.

I suggest this book to individuals needing IMMEDIATE relief from anger arousal. I keep many copies on hand and give to friends seeking help. I think it works only for people seeking help and wanting change; and wouldn't apply to those in trouble and not willing to make personal changes.

The book comes with many photocopy-ready pages, with easy methods to handle the next 24-hours, and then a few days, and then a week, progressing up to a month and more. The work is structured in such a way that real change happens.

If you want a change in yourself, or in someone close to you (e.g., a partner, a therapy client, a coaching client, etc.) this book is an a must read and own!

I consider Matthew McKay PhD as one of the few gifted experts in this field. He is able to write in a way that is easy to understand and easy to incorporate.

  3. I love using self-help books as therapy: they are reasonably cheap and they mobilize you sometimes even better than a therapist - as you know you can't become passive or rely on someone else for your progress.

Over the years, I've seen quite a few good self-help books, and God knows, I've been duped by a few unhelpful ones in glossy covers. It always puzzles me to see how some of these real duds can manage to make it to the best seller's lists and stay there. I know it's human to seek simplistic answers, only to find out, that the solution to a long-term problem is never as easy and quick as the book promises.

A while back, I was lucky to get a hold of a book called The Authoritative Guide to Self-Help Books. The book is a result of a well-respected study that rates hundreds of self-help books/films/websites for various disorders such as depression, anger, obesity, anxiety, low self-esteem and so on. In the anger category, the only book found to be highly effective (5 stars) was the book I am reviewing.

This is the most concise book I've seen on this complex subject about 150 pages), but it's the essence of all I needed.

In my opinion, a self help book is good if:

    1. It's simple, clear and free of psychobabble with a minimum of stories of non-existant humans;

    2. It doesn't dwell exessively on the past no matter how sad, but rather enourages action to change;

    3. The issues feel relevant and you see the application to your unique situation immediately;

    4. It is scientifically proven to work. It does not promise you easy and quick results but realistic and common-sense;

The Anger Control Workbook is such self-help book.

It starts by teaching you how to relax on demand. Try to be angry when you are completely relaxed-it's impossible.

Relaxation is a skill that you perfect with 20-minute daily practice. You use this skill to temporarily calm yourself and buy time so that you can plead and reason with yourself not to act impulsively and cause an unrepairable damage.

Then, the book addresses your thought and belief system and helps to correct some of the distortions that are surely lurking there. Automatic and unnoticed distortions provide fertile ground for anger. They help sustain and justify its philosophical existance by painting all sort of seemingly inevitable catastrophes. Authors say, testing and correcting your silent dialog is the most important step in gaining control in any mood change, a.k.a. cognitive therapy.

Finally, the book teaches you how to inoculate yourself against various situations that make you angry by preventing any outbursts in the future. You compile the description of the situations that tick you off and deal with them on your own terms-at home while you are totally relaxed and safe by imagining yourself in the hot situation, and desensitizing yourself, until you get in control.

Often times, I actually found myself memorizing some of the books sentences, and reciting them to myself like mantra. For example, when getting pissed at people whom I deem as incompetent, I'd quell my anger by saying to myself "PEOPLE ARE DOING THEIR BEST". This sentence, as simple as corny as it might sound, would honestly humble myself and make me more human, calming a rising storm inside. It just had that click with me.

In the end, the obvious is worth repeating: this book or any self-help book works only if you use it! Deliberately seeking out situations that make you angry - not avoiding them - and acting in a new, non-agressive fashion, is key. Good luck!

  4. I found this workbook especially helpful for clients I see regarding anger managment. It gives them specific worksheets I can assign as homework outside the therapy office.

  5. Great tool. The principal of my son's school recommended I get this book. That was right after he informed me that my son's mother had restricted my access to all his school records and all after school events until the judge makes a decision. I didn't think anything would help. But, I don't drink so I thought I would give it a try. It really has helped. Get it, use it. It will help.

5 comments about Raising Baby Green: The Earth-Friendly Guide to Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Baby Care.
  1. I absolutely love this book! As a mother of a two-year-old and one due in October, this book is a must-have for any family wanting to live a healthy, smart, and eco-friendly life. There are small, simple changes suggested in the book we can all easily make as well as less obvious ideas that the average person probably would not be aware of. This easy to read book is straight forward and extremely educational. I have personally recommended Raising Baby Green to several friends, and I wish I had it when I was pregnant with my first child. You don't have to drive a Prius and live off-the-grid to appreciate Dr. Greene's ideas. One of the best on the market!

  2. I think this is a very good to start raising a green baby. I wasn't the most eco-educated person out there, but I tried to do my part. When my wife and I started to try to have a baby, I wanted to have a healthy baby and started to do more research. What I like about this book is that it has a ton of information and resources and all laid out in a logical manner. The book was very easy to read, although I did not read every single page. I took note of a lot of tips (just bought some castile soap from Trader Joe's w/ my reusable bag) and websites. I liked the pages on the chemicals you should not purchase. I actually wrote them on back of my printout of the Environmental Defense Fund Seafood Selector guide. I used that chemicals list to check against sunscreen that I was looking to purchase, which I found that most sunscreens have one or more of those chemicals even the ones that say organics. I won't follow every single advice in the book just because of practicality or cost reasons, but at least I'll be a more educated parent on raising a greener baby. As with every book, you should use your own common sense when following an author's advice.

On a side note, there is so much information out there and sometimes conflicting information. It seems to me that one study will contradict another study that was done just a few months ago!! Case in point is Brenda Murray's review on when to fill-up your car. One study says it doesn't matter and another says it does matter (take a look at the comments on her review). I live in Phoenix and they actually do say you should fill your car up at night (or early morning) not because of air pollution, but because of how the regulators (I think) on the pumps work. It actually cost less to fill-up when it the temperature is cooler than when it is hot. I wish I could find the Arizona Republic article that talked more to the technical side of why this is the case and why the state is trying to change the regulators.

Lastly, in Brenda Murray's review, the author (Alan Greene) actually comments on her review. Some people might find this self-serving or being an ego maniac, but I found it very refreshing as he wanted to provide additional insight. I don't know if many authors would do this, but I found it very refreshing for the author to do this and the tone of his comment was not negative or preachy. In my opinion, he does really seem to care about the subject.

  3. My wife and I just finished "Raising Baby Green" and found it to be informative - but not preachy - providing practical advice to help us make decisions that will not only help raise our baby-to-be in a more healthy manner, but also help the environment itself in the process. Dr. Greene is right on with his theory that our health and the planet's are interwoven - and it's great to do things that accomplish both!

  4. This book is a great resource for parents who want some ideas on how to make their children's environment more healthy. The author presents many ideas for ways to go green in your home from building to existing structures, helps parents make healthy food choices and explains why it is important to be aware of the products you are using on your child. I also must note that the author mentions homebirth as a positive choice that may be right for some families which is very open-minded for an MD. I have 3 children and am constantly trying to find more eco-friendly options and was happy that this book provided me with some new ideas as well as many excellent links!

  5. I see myself as relatively environmentally conscious. But this book really made me think more closely about this, and also provided various options for improvement. I really appreciated the suggestions for certain brands or website so I could then go and do my own further research. I am pleased to say that I believe I'm now better informed, and my buying decisions are certainly more environmentally friendly and more gentle for our baby than previously.

5 comments about If I'm So Wonderful, Why Am I Still Single?: Ten Strategies That Will Change Your Love Life Forever.
  1. If you have ever wondered why you're single, this is the book for you. It surpassed my expectations and is something I'll be recommending to friends. The book deals with the complexities in personal relationships and causes you to analyze your own behavior and confront some of your issues. It is LESS about men and their behavior and more about you: Which is the way to find healthy love by having happiness begin with you. Some great topics it covers are: examining your hidden ambivalence, how to say no when you're in the wrong relationship, how to detect and avoid men who aren't going to commit, and the best part: how to identify and say no to "BTN's", which are better than nothing relationships. A pivatol point in the book was when she discussed how you can be with a really great guy, but there might be one thing missing. And if it's something big then you have to walk away rather than settle for someone who is "almost" Mr. Right. I think many people settle and this book will show you how not to.

  2. I enjoyed this book because it forced me to take a long, hard look at myself and what I have been doing to get in my own way. If you are serious about changing old patterns get this book.

  3. I found this book too be a little depressing and misguiding. The author gives many examples and discussions of realtionships that went wrong which may be helpful in deciding to get out of a relationship but doesn't do much to help find a good one. The viewpoint is definitely biased towards the female side of what intimacy should be like which I feel is unfair to men and not helpful. Men are men, thank goodness. The author also prescribes to the idea that no one will love you unless you love yourself, that you have to get past your fears of intimacy before you will find the right person and that commitment phobes are people with "issues" (as opposed to being just your standard every day jerk). In general the book is unmotivating and not real world.

  4. This book was recommended by a psychologist I met while traveling in southeast Asia. Even though the title is a strong, the book is amazing. It is an easy read and really helps you look at yourself. This book does NOT put the blame of being single on others or your environment. Each chapter focuses your issues/hangups with relationships. You will need a small notebook or a few sheets of paper to do the exercises at the end of each chapter.

In addition to looking at your issues/hangups, it also helps you realize what you are looking for in a partner and reflecting on past relationships.

Now that I have finished reading it and have talked about it with my friends, they want to buy it too.

  5. I've picked up 4 or 5 other books on dating (can read my other reviews for a few). Most of them focus on how to contort yourself into this or that person to lure a man into your commitment "lair"... or at least that is how it feels reading those books.

How refreshing it was to finally come across a book that suggests that the desire for a committed relationship is nothing to be ashamed of...and even better, how to spot and avoid commitmentphobes and better than nothing (BTN) relationships.... all things that drain your time and energy from finding someone you can share your life with. It also does a fabulous job helping you unearth all of the other ways you may be undermining your success in your search...such as hidden ambivalence and internal dialogues(there are no ways to meet people, there are no good ones, etc) that only serve to lower your odds.

I had to laugh when she said "don't expect dating to be fun". It IS like a job interview! Pace yourself, have a plan, and keep at it! All great advice...

5 comments about The Bible for Dummies.
  1. I teach theology and this book is invaluable for Scripture study. It is written in a light-hearted style that is easy to read and thoroughly immersed in the heart of the Bible. A must-have for anyone interested in truly understanding the Word.

  2. I have always tried to read the Bible front to back, and I have always gotten lost somewhere in the middle of Genesis. This book has helped turn the confusion into common, understandable words. I am still early in the book, BUT I now understand WAY more than I ever have. There are also tidbits throughout that explain contreversal and interesting parts of the Bible, and the authors present them without bias. The first chapter made me understand differences between the Literature used by Jews, Christians, and the Koran; I had no idea we believe in the same beginnings. This is a great book for the person, like me, who has tried to understand the Bible but can never get past the wording and sequencing. If you are looking for direction in spirituality, this may not be the inpirational jolt you need. Forget about what serious Bible-beaters tell you, the light-hearted speech of the authors does NOT deface nor belittle the wonderful message the Bible has for us.

  3. Well written and holds my attention. Good overview. Using it for a Sunday School class.

  4. Book gives a generalized summary of the Bible. Very little interpretation. Good for basic reading/introduction.

  5. The Bible For Dummies...Finally! A book that is written with the mentality of its intended audience firmly in mind!
There are many books with the sub-text"for dummies" ...most of these concentrate on useful topics.."Computers for dummies"or "French cuisine for dummies"..Some delve into more esoteric topics, explaining how certain famous authors created thier alternate fictional worlds,or decribing old traditions or belief-systems to modern readers...
Writing a book like this one,for "dummies"and about the bible one must tread carefully..Those who blindly have"faith" in what the bible claims will not be satisfied with any "explainations" that do not conform with thier own notions, and,on the other hand, those who have a scientific,"secular" approach to things will find "explainations" of such unlikely events as walking on water or raising the dead to be,in a word,absurd...
Not that this author does not try..Much of what he lists here is based on the more prevailing religious traditions, which in itself is an underlining of the the irony to be found in the books title..For far too many the bible is not a religious tradition but a book of"facts",based on "belief" and not on reality..And since this points to a subjective rather than an objective point of view, any tidbit of data to be found in this volume will be compared to whatever form of belief the reader subscribes to and either accepted or rejected on that basis alone...
One cannot write a book "for dummies" about the bible, since one must, for all practical purposes,be a"dummy" in the first place to believe in much of what the bible contains.

5 comments about The Pursuit of Holiness.
  1. Don't read this book unless you are ready to be convicted and own up to your responsibility as a Christian! I have read this book twice and am reading it again (along with the Study Guide) with my church's women's Bible Study. It is a provocative book to study alone or with a group. It lends itself to wonderful group discussions. Jerry Bridge's book, very practically written, is an aid to Christians in our understanding of God's grace on one hand and our obligation to live a life worthy of His calling on the other.

  2. When I started reading this book I had the "fear" that true "holiness" was something I could never achieve. Yet scripture calls us to be holy (1 Peter 1:13-25) so it must be possible. As I went through this book and examined my heart, I realized the obstacles that stood in the way of holiness and came away from the book with a whole new understanding and sense of hope and purpose. I now encourage other men to step up and TRULY pursue a life of holiness.

  3. Should we "let go and let God", trusting Him to bring us victory in the battle for holiness? Jerry Bridges would answer this question with a firm "no." Instead, he would lead us to "grab hold and let God." In other words, Bridges charges us to take hold of the resources Christ offers us to kill sin's power and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit. In Bridges' view, holiness is not a matter of victory or defeat, but of obedience or disobedience. He teaches that victory is the byproduct of obedience, not the aim of the pursuit of holiness. Holiness is still the work of God, but we must actively lay hold of the work of God in our lives to see the fullest possible work of the Holy Spirit in us. As I consider all of the personal commands to action in the Bible regarding holiness, I am convinced that Bridges is right. Commands like, "put off your old self, mortify the deeds of the flesh, put on the new self, pursue righteousness, think about whatever is good and pure, walk in the Spirit" and many more show me that my part in holiness is to throw off everything that hinders and fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. This excellent book is best in its final half, as Bridges deals with some of the details of this walk of faith and the specifics of how to fight sin and cultivate good in your life. Highly recommended.

  4. Jerry Bridges is insightful and penetrating in his writing. He is easy to understand and gets to the heart of the matter. I used this in conjunction with the companion study book. This really helped me put into action the principles he discusses. It's well worth your time.

5 comments about He-Motions: Even Strong Men Struggle.
  1. The book was in excellent shape. This is a must read for men and men who work with and for men. It is an excellent resource for us all. T D Jakes writes in a style that makes this books understandable to all of us. It does not blame, but he very candidly states the problem and what we should do to obtain help and end the cycle of men in pain.

  2. I was looking forward to listening to this ministry during my vacation. However much to my surprise, it was not T.D. Jakes voice I heard when I plug in my earphones. The readers monotone voice made the words of T.D. Jakes less inspiring.

I actually did not get through the first few chapters before I just turned it off. I think I have to order the DVD in order to obtain the inspiration I was seeking.

  3. I think the material in this audio book is amazing.
I have a hard time getting through it because of the actor chosen to read the text.
His voice and affectations are beyond annoying.
I wish careful consideration would be given when it comes to choosing who is to read for the audio book!

  4. I saw a clip of his sermon on television and I thought this was his sermon. I was really disappointed when I put it in and it was his book which I already had. On top of that it's not even his voice reading the book. His book/CD obviously caters to the women of broken men; who are going to buy this for thier man. I have to warn you that unless you've been to prison, are in a gang or do drugs this may not appeal to you. If you're like me and grew up in a suburban middle class neighborhood you probably won't get much out of this CD.

  5. Some women compare this to Woman thou Art Loosed; however, I see it as more of a open truth about how men feel but don't share. Jakes speaks of his experiences, as well as, compares how other men relate to life's struggles, disappointments and really how not to stay in the pit of feeling horrible from what seems a finality of what they see. Life is a struggle for men and women, but women seem to shake it off because we will cry and scream. Men tend to grow bitter and hold on to past hurts in a different type of resentment. I appreciated the care he took to separate the emotions in each chapter. It is a good read.

5 comments about One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps.
  1. As I've been going through the Steps, I have my sponsor, AA support, and many books as my guides. When I compare the steps in each of the books (Big Book, 12x12, etc.) to One Breathe at a Time, this is the one that speaks in a language I can understand, that helped me clarify my "higher power." If you have leanings toward Eastern philosophy and are somewhat put off by the Christian focus of AA, then give this one a shot. In any case, it can't hurt to have another perspective, and this guy's been through it.

  2. This was an excellent read and I would recommend it to anybody involved with a 12 step program. Taken with the 12x12 it provides some perspective of the steps, discussing them in more contemporary language. I am not a Buddhist and have no wish to become one, but find there is quite a bit of useful content in the book for anyone in recovery. I've been at this for 25 years now, with countless big book and step studies over the years. I am not a joiner or in the market for a religion, but this book does provide intriguing references to concepts in Buddhism worth pursuing. You don't necessarily need the brand name to make use of something that works. I think one aspect of particular use will be working with a concept of a higher power outside the structure of the Christian traditions. I have to disagree with the earlier reviewer - the author does address his concept of a higher power.

  3. An intriguing perspective on 12 Step programs. Having written a book about walking that fine line between compassion and codependence, I found this book insightful and inspiring. - Rita Schiano, author of Sweet Bitter Love

  4. I am a Zen Buddhist who has struggled in the past with alcohol. For personal and religious reasons, I wish to permanently quit alcohol use. I have tried in the past on my own unsuccesfully, and have recently sought help in this endeavor. I am participating in group counselling at this time. I have never really considered participating in a twelve step program as I have always been under the impression that they (AA) take a decidedly Judeo-Christian bent. This book does a fabulous job of explaining how a Buddhist can succesfully participate in such a program as well as how each of the steps can be interpreted and praciced from the Buddhist point of view. I have not joined a twelve step program as of yet, and may not, but I will definately be more open minded about the possibility after reading this book. Likewise, I have learned important techniques that I can use in my recovery now.

  5. This book does a fantastic job of demonstrating the synergies of working a 12 step program and buddhist practice. I think it would be valuable for anyone who is still uncomfortable with the Christian overtones of the 12 steps as it explains their origin and how to work them in relation to higher power of your own understanding.

  1. Very helpful in teaching which foods to help up your metabolism and use as fuel more efficiently. Also helps you to know which foods are less healthful and to limit them. Rapid Start program helps a lot.

  2. Sorry, but for such a critical hinge to success being 'getting in touch with this' and 'knowing pivotal things', I'm destined to fail with this book. I just don't know what he's wanting me to look for and the few answers I gave turned out to be 'what it doesn't mean'. Holy cow, he should include a copy of his psych degrees for us to borrow till we get through the program.

  3. This is an OK book. Pretty easy read and it doens't take a rocket scientist to decode it but it is just OK. Kinda long at points but he does a good job at putting it on the common mans language. I ahve read better books like "Body By God"

  4. I found this book put together so that it's extremely hard to find any particular food that you're trying to figure out. I can't use it as a reference, which is what I wanted. I've totally given up on it. I need all the foods listed in alphabetical order with all of the information stated. This book does NOT accomplish that. I expected much more of it/him. Totally wasted my money on this one.

  5. ...is so you can enjoy many more healthy, productive years watching his trashy train wreck show.

  1. This is the exact form of the Kama Sutra that I have been looking for. It is illustrated with original Indian artwork. It is an abridged version of the Kama Sutra text but it has the sections that most individuals are most often interested in, the ones on sex. It is not a book that is all about sex but has a large part about relationships and gives some good insight into the Indian culture.

  2. This book gives you not only the original text of the 14th century Kama Sutra, like some other books also do, but it also gives you beautifully photos from very old and newer drawings, medals, pottery and many other art forms. The photos relate to the topic dealt with at that partical episode.
A book you should place for ever in your library, not only the hardcore sex-fanatic, but also every person interested in literature and in the origin of our Western culture.

  3. Historically very interesting and informative.
Drawings are quaint. It does give a better insight into the subject of human sexuality.

  4. Nothing can't really beat the Kama Sutra for information about sex and relationships. The ancient text is suprisingly informative and helpful, even in our modern age. A lovely book with nice illustrations that everyone should have in their library. That is the "something old." If you are looking for "something new" to add to your library along with the Kama Sutra, try The Sensuous Couple's (Flip Over) Guide to Seismic Oral Sex. This text is a flip over book that gives you everything you need to know about cunnilingus on one side, then flip it over you can learn everything you need to know about fellatio. If you want to make your library totally complete, add Five Minutes to Orgasm Every Time You Make Love: Female Orgasm Made Simple to the mix. You won't ever have to buy any more books. Your library is complete.

  5. This guide provides nothing more than the history instead of a guide on Karma Sutra. Wish I could sue the author for such lies!
