5 comments about Letters to a Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny.
- I especially think women should get this for thier daughters, and a second copy for themselves. It is amazing and easy to relate to. But, I don't want it to be written off as a book for kids, I'm 25 and WOW! While somethings don't relate to me specifically, I can reflect on those choices I made or watched my friends make. I took a closer look at me and ask questions and was really truthful with myself. Also, for those ladies that feel there is something missing; while he dosen't tell you what your missing, if you follow the little steps he suggest you to do (no matter how silly you feel doing them)you will figure it out on your own..and that feeling that your waiting for is so much more amazing when it comes from yourself and it's not someone telling you what THEY feel you should/shouldn't do. Anyway, I'm a pretty strong-minded female and this book did put somethings into perspective for me, about me. I'm appreciative of that. I wish him much success, he has done an amazing job. Little by little you'll find your way! God Bless....GOD BLESS
- This book is great.....I'm almost finished with it and I haven't even had it for 2 weeks! This is the first book I've read from Hill Harper, but it's excellent and a very easy read as well.
- Hill Harper it the epitomy of everything I want in a man, and I am elated that he has appreciation enough for young women of color to write such a book that addresses our concerns and questions as we come of age.
- Having already read "Letters to a Young Brother", I was very excited to see that Hill Harper decided to expand upon his vision and write a book for young women. The message, the inspiration, and the obvious care and affection Hill expresses for today's youth needs to reach as many youth as possible. His books should be found in every school library around the country and beyond. Teenagers and pre-teens face more changes in their lives than ever before and Hill teaches them how to rise above the challenges and inspires them to reach their potential. I, for one, am very grateful for his vision.
- Through this book, my 15-year-old and I have both learned tons-of-things about ourselves and each other. I even bought a copy for my 19-year-old niece. It's an excellent read for the young and young-at-heart. Thanks, Hill!

5 comments about Getting the Love You Want Workbook: The New Couples' Study Guide.
- I am only writing this to warn others you'll need the other book to be able to use this workbook. I don't have the other book so I have not been able to use any of the workbook.
- Harville Hendricks has provided a clear and easily followed outline for couples to follow as they work on their marriage. It teaches effective communication which is the foundation of a successful marriage. I heartily endorse this book.
- I have studied and practiced several models for couples counseling and this one by Hendrix is by far the best. Make sure to read the book as well.
- The philosophy of relationships that Dr. Haskill has developed is well researched and eye opening. The excersizes in the workbook are useful tools for willing couples to use to find a deeper understanding of themselves and better communication.
However, the workbook is not necessary if you buy the book "Getting the Love you want;" you can use your own notebook to do the sessions which comprise section 3 of the book, as well as the workbook.
I do highly recommend this item, for anyone who believes that the answer to trouble in a love relationship is not to abandon the loved one but to first resolve the issues that have surfaced. The author has really hit on something.
- I would recommend "Getting the Love You Want" and the companion workbook to any couple who wants to strengthen their relationship.
Also I is a good match with the book I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't

5 comments about Living a Life of Inner Peace.
- I bought this CD set after reading "A New Earth" and just before starting "The Power of Now." I love these CDs because Mr. Tolle is so enjoyable to listen to. Also, the CDs are a good way for me to review the basic concepts behind Tolle's most recent works, and Tolle also helps you understand how to live in the present. My only word of advice is that I would definitely not purchase these CDs unless you have already read "The Power of Now" or "A New Earth," as some of what Tolle discusses would be difficult (at least for me) to understand without such background. Again, I have listened to these CDs over and over and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who is a Tolle fan.
- The cd itself is good, good information if you are on this path, but Tolle's laughing in the background is a little off putting. It is more of a snort than a laugh, so at first I wasn't sure what he was doing. If you can get past that though it is good.
- We really believe that people are born very special no matter what is their background; the pollution of life, ego, Maya, we our selves changed our natural of being in peace. We can feel peace every where " in the sky, birds, children, " but not in our selves because our ego just want to shut it down , once again in a moment of silence we remember that we are alive, no matter what are the circumstances . we are here, no matter how much we think we are suffering.. this CD taught me how to let go ? yes , and accept my self the way I am , also I have to thank God that I really have everything, I don't need more I just want peace.. In some how you feel this is not easy.. if so,this CD will make it so easy with the real examples that touch every human life, we are not suffering from life , life is great, our ego what made our diamond become less in shine and now is the time to polish this natural Diamond. Buy it you will love it.

- Been going through all his works, text and audio cds, and he's a breath of fresh air, smart, wise, funny and very relaxing. Highly recommend it.
- Its hard to pick which of Eckhart Tolle's books or CDs I like better but this one says everything in a short 2cd format. I have several of his works but this one is the one I keep with me if I travel or I'm driving--it keeps me on track. Thank you.

5 comments about I Wasn't Ready to Say Goodbye (Updated Edition): Surviving, Coping and Healing After the Sudden Death of a Loved One.
- I read this book to help me cope with the sudden death of a loved one. It was somewhat helpful, but it mainly covered the same information in another book I read in a much less comprehensive manner. That book is How to Go on Living When Someone You Love Dies by Therese Rando and I highly recommend reading that book. It is the best I have read on the topic of grief/death/mourning. These authors had good intentions, but I think you will get more out of the Rando book.
- I bought this for a friend who had lost her husband. She thanks me all the time for the book. She said it was well written and helped her a lot throughout her grieving.
- I liked this book and would recommend it for anyone who has lost someone suddenly or for anyone who wants to understand what that person is going through. The authors speak from personal experiences and offer different perspectives on how people experience sudden loss. The book goes into the stages of grieving and then discusses how others are affected when they loose a parent, child, partner, sibling etc... The book includes exercises for dealing with the grieving process. There is also a workbook available with more tools for dealing with this type of loss.
- This book touched on a lot of helpful topics following the loss of a loved one. I gave the book as a gift to my mother when my father passed and she found some comfort and guideance from this selection.
- I highly recommend this book to anyone who has to make sense of living through this difficult time. It follows a timeline from the death time and assists the reader to make sense of what has had to be dealt with. The advice is practical yet lovingly given. The book covers all the situations that may have to be encountered; in my case the suicide of an adult son. I found the information helpful and comforting. As a family we have used it and found it invaluable for us all as we adjust to the sudden loss of a loved one. The authors have rendered 'normal' our responses to such a tragedy. Within that, we are not alone.

5 comments about The Richest Man Who Ever Lived: King Solomon's Secrets to Success, Wealth, and Happiness.
- This is based on the Book of Proverbs from the Bible, so the information is good...obviously, but like any of these self help tapes, books, etc, the secret is sticking with it...I even bought the extra Journal but haven't completed it yet. Setting Goals is a GOOD THING...always has been always will be...you just have to do it...if you do, you probably don't need this book anyway.
- This is the greatest book ever. It is so inspirational, and teaches all of us to be grateful for what we have. I bought this book for many of my friends as a Christmas gift. What a great gift idea.
Kandice
- I loved the book and have recommended it to many people.
The only thing that would make it better is :
1. an index for scripture references,
2. a cross-reference for topics and
3. a general index.
It would really be a great help.
- This book is a wonderful book. I read it and purchased another for my son and son-in-law. Anyone who wants success in everyday communication with people in general or in business needs to read this, and live it.
- I received this book quickly, read it quickly and was blessed by it quickly. I believe this book has been one of the best reads I've had in a while.

5 comments about The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking.
- I loved this book. I am in the process of becoming a public speaker and wanted to be very affective with the people I speak to. This book helped me to make sure my workshop is designed in the correct order to teach from A to B rather than floundering around from one to another topic never smoothly progressing toward the ultimate goal. I am well on my way to become an excellent public speaker.
- I actually didn't finish this book. It had some good pointers within it but I felt it was doing more story telling than teaching me how to calm down and deliver a speech without my breakfest or lunch wanting to errupt. Although it was somewhat interesting it wasn't doing what I needed it to and that was to teach me not to want to disappear before I got up in front of a group of people.
- I wasn't planning on giving a speech when I read this book -I just thought it would give me some ideas in case I had to do so in the future. As with Dale Carnegie's other books, "The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking" presents individual points of advice fattened by entertaining anecdotes and examples from the lives of well-known people and from Carnegie's own experience. As Carnegie himself suggests, the actual advice could be summarized within the space of a few pages (There's a summary at the end of each chapter) but the stories and examples make the the information more digestible. This edition was actually edited and released posthumously by Dale Carnegie's wife. The title is a little misleading because the number one lesson of public speaking to take away from the book is the importance of practice and preparation. There are no shortcuts. Although some of the examples are a little dated, this is still a worthwhile book to read especially if you enjoyed Carnegie's other books.
- Dale Carnegie, most known for his masterpiece "How to Win Friends & Influence People" produces a compelling and articulate work with The Quick & Easy Way to Effective Speaking.
Carnegie has the writing skill to convey the obvious in a manner that leaves one asking themselves why they had never put these principles into action in the first place. Many detractors of Carnegie's doctrine have suggested that he merely affirms the obvious; yet the intrigue is buried within the notion that while apparent, few people actually in fact apply these simple principles.
Carnegie's standards are derived from countless studies, trials and investigations; thus his premise is sound and proven. He delves into a all encompassing overview of what is needed to fully be an effective public speaker. Each chapter has a mission and covers such topics as confidence, content, reading the audience, and being persuasive.
I have no doubt that anyone seeking to improve, perfect, or even start a public speaking endeavor should review the principles outlined in The Quick & Easy Way to Effective Speaking, thus I recommend this book favorably.
- This is a very good reference for those who would like to improve their public speaking skill. This book will help you develop self-confidence, learn how to persuade, get action, inform, impress, entertain, and convince. The easy five-step program will show you how to be a powerful and effective speaker.

5 comments about Living in the Heart: How to Enter into the Sacred Space Within the Heart.
- A beautifully written book. If you like to learn how to communicate with your heart instead your mind - buy this book and learn how to access the Sacred Space in your heart through written and spoken words. Michelle H.
- All of Drunvalo's books are written with amazing insight and depth and this book is no exception. The written word is only the first step with this book as it energetically moves one into the heart. This book is at the top of my list of 'must read' spiritual material.
Jane Gerald
- Living in the heart, wonderful title ,brilliant book, genuine guidance on how to enter into the sacred space within the heart.was most surprised to learn that there is a specific area within the heart which is NEVER TOUCHED by surgeons because it results in instant death. We hear a lot about the heart and the heart chakra in many new age books, which make you feel there is something you are missing if you are unable to 'feel' yourself in your heart,or working/loving from your heart. If you are not that aware of the inner senses in your body, it all seems very much 'out there' and not reachable and you can give up really understanding it all from our 3D dimension. Drunvalo explains what to expect and how to achieve , as he gives details of his own experience and his ups and downs , how he felt etc. He 'takes you' into his world and shows you how.
- This book is a real gift to humanity - contains tools to take us into our inner heart temple where we can access the 5th dimensional frequency of unconditional love & liquid light.
Anyone who resonates with Drunvalo Melchizadek's work will love this book.
- Simple, direct, yet profound. Rings true and strikes a cord. Any book that I read 3 times and can't let go of, says a lot. This man's life is filled with higher purpose and synchronicity, and amazing phenomena. He doesn't try to come up with answers for everything, or even a whole lot, he just tells his story and draws you in, deeply. I sensed humility and an absolute devotion to his higher purpose, avoiding unnecessary distraction and minutia. And after sharing his fascinating experiences and discoveries, he leaves you with detailed instructions and a CD (included with the book). The only complaint I have is that I want this book to be much longer.

5 comments about Awaken the Giant Within : How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!.
- Awaken the Giant Within encourages taking control of ones life to promote positive change. Robbins has read extensively on human development and has rolled many worthwhile concepts into his book. He explores topics including belief systems, how to change, positive decision making, destroying blocks to success and more. This book gives a good overview of how to take better control of one's like.
The reading is quick, but he could have been somewhat less verbose and get the same points across. Then again, it is a relatively minor point if this is what is needed to motivate people to take control of their lives.
Although interesting, Robbin's book did not change me significantly. Almost all of his concepts can be found in other sources. However, Robbins work has helped many people a great deal...and it would be unwise to argue with this success!
The Re-Discovery of Common Sense: A Guide to: The Lost Art of Critical Thinking
- Obviously Tony Robbins is a very committed and intense individual. That is worth 3 stars. But, a self-help book should be just that: a book that enables you to help yourself, so you don't need to use Tony or his seminars or tapes for constant reinforcement.
The book is applicable to everyday life situations, but the practicality is questionable. Everything he writes has been said before, and could be distilled down to a few lines that you could concentrate on, as has been done by other Spiritualists. Instead, you need to remember 6 NAC steps, 5 problem solving questions, 10 emotions of power, 6 steps to emotional mastery, 10 Action signals, 6 Master steps to change, and the list goes on. Whew! You need a briefcase just to carry all that around with you.
The bottom line is no one is going to remember all those steps. So what do you do then?
- Anthony Robbins covers a vast amount of information regarding personal achievement and taking control of your life starting from your own attitude and habits. There are countless books on discovering individual achievement and few packs as much content as Awaken The Giant Within.
The volume of content in this book is a double edged sword; whereas Robbins in clearly in possession of considerable knowledge on the topic yet appears to have difficulty or a lack of interest articulating his points with any brevity. Robbins could have cut this book into a fifth its size and maintained its usefulness.
Robbins has the ability to motivate and this book will give certainly give you an uplifting pep talk...if you can get through it quick enough. There are, however, many books on personal achievement that are far superior (Think & grow Rich, Magic of Thinking Big) that get to the heart of the material more rapidly and articulate their intent better.
- It's clear why Tony has become so successful. His theories are sound and his methodology is extremely effective. Those who never reached their goals either failed to apply his techniques or simpy gave up.
Definitely worth your time and money!
Finding Your Costa Rica : 5 Powerful Steps to Personal, Professional and Financial Success
- I have not finished the book but so far I have liked what I have read. He is funny, personnable, and yet he has a meaning behind the words of the book. He writes so you understand just what he is saying just like you were talking to him face to face.

5 comments about You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?!: The Classic Self-Help Book for Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder.
- Not only did the book come in great condition and a timely manner, the seller was willing to point out other books that would be of help to me on the subject I was dealing with.
- Before I got this book, I read the reviews. They were all good reviews. But, after reading the book....I think most of the readers missed something. This book is great for confirming a suspicion that you may have ADD. But, doesn't really help you on any other level. Some of the info is even slanted toward the female side of things. (Which, being written by two women it would be, somewhat). But, in some points of the book you get that, "women have it much harder than men", feeling. Which is a real turn off for those of us (MEN) that have had it SO very hard trying to exist with this "deficit"! Much of the medications that are prescribed for ADD have a laundry list of side effects. I was prescribed several pills years ago and lost memory of the entire time frame as the drugs effect your memory! I went off the meds and have never returned. But, it is a very tough life without them. I gave the book two stars because it only confirms a suspicion. It doesn't go anywhere as far as "help". You will need to look elsewhere. It didn't discuss "job hopping". Which is a MAJOR problem for ADDers. I would have thought that would have had a whole chapter. It got a mere mention! This was very short sighted. So again; Great for confirming your suspicions. But, little else.
- An OK book, but I wouldn't recommend it as your first book to read on ADD. Better to check out Delivered From Distraction.
I really wanted to like this book. The authors seem like nice, dedicated people. But I found little of use in the book, except for the last few chapters. I've noticed that I have this problem with ADD books written by people with ADD: but where Dr. Hallowell's book is also piecemeal and all over the place, he gives you important information, and things you can use.
There was a little of that in this book, but I feel the authors spend way too much time urging the reader that it's OK to have ADD, and it doesn't make them Lazy, Stupid, or Crazy. I knew that going in: I want to learn about effective strategies and skills to deal with ADD's challenges. Like some other ADD books, there's a ton of buildup and anecdote, leaving me wanting more.
This book could be 30 % shorter, and still provide the helpful information that it provides. A little too breezy a style for this ADD reader who needs it in digestible chunks.
- If you have recently been told that your ability to organize and process information is severely impaired by ADHD then you should NOT attempt to read this book.
The formal features of Kelly and Ramundo's work make it obvious that the publishers did not take any cues from their writers about how to help ADHD readers with learning disabilities cope in an intimidating world of words!
The book is impossible to access because: A) Small comic like font B) Letters too close together, C) Sentences with a narrow space between sentences, D) Dark stark letters against a bright white page, E) Topics that go on forever without new information, F) Organization difficult to track.
In short, I'm surprised that more readers have not discussed the sensory overload they must have experienced when trying to literally TACKLE this book. Even after medication and skill based therapies, I still cannot get past a few pages before I begin skimming and skipping. A phenomena that no longer presents a problem for me with more difficult reading.
I think buyers are attracted to the sentiments expressed in the title but surely, may find it daunting to complete. The editors must re-think their approach. Other books are much more accessible and succinct.
- This book is great. I now realize what my problem was when I was younger. Everything is finally making sense. It is a great book for people that have ADD people as friends, family and partners to learn what the life is like for a person dealing with ADD.
Really glad I purchased the book. You should too.

5 comments about Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy.
- I was given this book while I was recovering from surgery and found it so comforting and inspiring that I have since purchased it for two friends who are also undergoing hard times with their health or families. It has helped us all to have a more positive outlook. This book has no beginning, and no end. You can read it starting anywhere, and you can read it forever!
- I bought this book several years ago and never managed to keep up for more than a few days. This year I found out why. When trying to establish evening rituals to help with sleep, I began this book again. YOU MUST START AT THE BEGINNING. That's where I went wrong before. You can't just jump in on the day you happen to receive it. That said, you can start on Jan 1 any time you want. I did that in late Feb, and I've been "doing" two pages a day to catch up. I've followed the instructions and started a gratitude journal, and I've already seen small changes in myself and my attitudes. I'm more mindful of my words and actions, and I'm more conscious of the things I have to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to more changes and a richer life experience as I continue my journey through this book. It may not be for everyone, but if you're looking to live a more conscious, mindful life, this collection of essays and observations could just be the spark of change you're looking for.
- I've read and reread this book so many times that I now know exactly where to look for passages about joy, self-acceptance, "homecaring," gratitude, simplicity, and so forth. The author has certainly done her homework in that the book is filled with pithy quotes, interesting information on a variety of topics, and biographical data on some famous and not-so-famous folks. Each day of the year, Sarah Ban Breathnach weaves this information in with her own words of insight and wisdom to create a delightfully uplifting book of inspiration and advice.
- excellent condition, excellent book. It was a gift for a friend. I was very pleased with the service. thanx
- I had planned on purchasing this book that Oprah had recommended several years ago but hadn't. Recently, I was talking to a co-worker that said
she has read it for the past few years because she always gets something new out of it. Upon her recommendation, I ordered it on-line. It was in excellent condition and I've already started reading it.
